Item description: Up for sale is a 1953 Ford Customline Club Coupe. I am posting this on behalf of my father. This car and all of the parts described below are located in East Peoria, IL 61611. My father has owned this car since July of 1981. He is the fourth owner. He bought it in Clinton, IA from a little old lady (no joke!). It has 51,835 original miles. The color is Sea Haze Green. It has the original 215 cu. in. inline 6-cylinder engine and a 3-speed manual transmission (three on the tree!). It has been garaged since he has owned it. My father drove this car sparingly over the years. It was mostly used for local car shows and weekend driving in nice weather. It was parked in the garage as shown in the photos during the summer of 1993 and it has not moved since. The reason that this car and all of the parts listed below are for sale is so that my father can make room in his garage to work on other projects. Condition description: This car is a time capsule. The car was bought in the condition you see it in. It is a very good, original, 63+ year old car. There are some small dents on the driver’s side rear quarter panel that a previous owner had “color-matched” body filler used to fill them in. The filler has since discolored as you can see in the photos. The bumpers have some surface rust. There is an area around the lower trunk lid body lip that has surface rust. There is a roughly quarter-sized rust hole in front of the passenger side rear wheel opening along with some surface rust on the trailing edge of that same quarter panel behind the wheel opening. The right front fender also has some surface rust at the bottom. Lastly, there is a passenger side frame to body mount that would need replaced due to rust. Otherwise, it is a solid car throughout, according to my father. The paint is original. The chrome and stainless steel trim pieces are all original to the best of our knowledge. The car has a stainless steel exhaust system installed. The interior has all the original seats and equipment. The seats have some liquid stains on them (looks like drink spills). This car is not drivable in its current condition. Other than the fact that it has been sitting for nearly 24 years, the following items will need repair/refurbishment/replacement in order to make the car drivable: Complete four wheel brake job and line replacement. (see list of parts below) Carburetor needs rebuilt or replaced. (see list of parts below) Gas tank drained and maybe replaced. (see list of parts below) New battery. New tires. Obviously, these are all basic things you would want to perform to a vehicle that has been sitting for so long. The lack of roadworthiness due to the brakes and carburetor are the original reasons that the car was parked. All other mechanical and electrical aspects of the car worked when it was parked. A note about the pictures: The pictures of the car in the garage are current. The scanned pictures are original photos from when the car was first purchased by my father in 1981. I have more digital pictures of the car in the garage (engine, interior, and exterior). If there is something specific wanted, please ask. Parts That Go With The Car: The original owner’s manual. An original shop manual. Full size spare tire. The following items have been collected and stored in the garage with the car over the years with the intention of returning it to the road or as spares/backups in case they were ever needed. They ALL go with the car and are included in the asking price and final sale price of the car: New steel gas tank. N.O.S. right hand fender. N.O.S. right hand quarter panel. Two rechromed taillight assemblies. Left hand grill bar, rechromed. Grill center bullet, rechromed. Stainless steel brake lines. New master cylinder. Four new wheel brake cylinders. New brake shoes for both front and rear brakes. N.O.S. chrome trim above grill – both left and right hand sides. Several misc. N.O.S. stainless steel trim pieces for around the windows and quarter panels. N.O.S. trunk handle. N.O.S. radio antenna. New spark plugs. Two new 6V headlamps. New carburetor. New fuel pump. New water pump. Two used doors (no rust, with working windows and glass). One used hood (no rust, with emblem and airplane hood ornament). One 215 cu. in. 6-cylinder engine (identical to what is in the car). We removed this engine in working condition from another 53 Ford Mainline that we had many years ago. It has 99K miles on it. Summary: This car and all of the parts that go with it are obviously just about everything that is needed to make the car road worthy again. It is in fantastic condition and would be an ideal candidate for a repair and drive or basic restoration since the car is all original. I have even seen these make nice street rods over the years. Seller Expectations: We will not ship the car or any of the items included in the sale. We expect the buyer to make the appropriate arrangements to pick up the car and all of the parts included. This means that the buyer will need to come to my parents’ house in East Peoria, IL and pick everything up. A full size truck with a trailer should do it as the small parts fit inside of the car itself and the engine, doors, and hood would fit in the bed of the truck. The area where they live has a nice flat street and driveway so maneuvering the car for winching onto a trailer would not be difficult. This car is for sale locally. The seller reserves the right to end the auction at any time. Payment: Full payment is expected within 48 hours of the end of the auction via Paypal. Alternative payment methods would have to be discussed in detail with the potential buyer. I have attempted to describe this item as best I can. If there is a question or you would like to talk to my father (the owner of the car), please ask by emailing me at [email protected].

Expertly built and very clean, it's an eye-catching alternative for Blue Oval fans that like their street rods a little bit traditional. Like all great customs, the trick is to make the modifications invisible, and you'll spend a long time looking at this gorgeous Ford without seeing everything that was done to it. The obvious things like shaved door handles and hood trim are easy, but if you're a '50s car expert, you'll also note that 1955 Pontiac side trim has been used to great effect and that grille is from a 1956 Plymouth. Frenched headlights, lots of shaved trim, and a recessed power antenna all help make this car look special. Of course, there's also the fantastic paint, a wonderful copper over cream combination that's elegant and eye-catching without the need for excessive flash. Very nice. It's highlighted with some tasteful and traditional pinstripe work on the trunk and hood, which reinforces the period look. Finish quality is excellent, the masking between the colors is laser-sharp, and you'll note that the two-tone split even continues into the door jambs for a great effect. It goes without saying that all the chrome was refinished so it glitters against the relatively subtle paint, and a rear license plate bracket was installed under the rear bumper to maintain that smoothie look. The matching two-tone interior uses cream leather on stock bench seats to replicate a '50s custom look with a few modern touches for comfort. The upholstery looks virtually new and it's so bright and clean that you might want to think twice before climbing in with your work clothes on. Gray carpets anchor everything so it's not too pastel, and the door panels use narrow pleats and plenty of stainless trim to replicate the exterior look. Cream-faced Dolphin gauges were fitted into the original instrument hood with a custom-painted insert that matches the copper exterior paint. More cream leather was wrapped around the steering wheel and the top of the dash, while an aftermarket A/C system was tucked underneath to make this a great cruiser in any weather. A factory AM radio still lives in the dash but there's an AM/FM/CD stereo hidden out of sight for real entertainment. The trunk has been sensibly upholstered with matching side panels and carpeted floor, so don't be afraid to fill it up and hit the road. A 350 cubic inch Chevy V8 might upset the purists, but if you want reliability and power, it's a great choice. It's nicely finished with a copper engine block, some chrome dress-up, and a vintage-looking air cleaner up top. Edelbrock supplied the carburetor and there's a brand new radiator up front, so you know it's built for driving. Power steering is a welcome upgrade and cast iron exhaust manifolds feed a custom dual exhaust system that burbles like any '50s custom should. The transmission is a 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive, so highway cruising is this car's specialty and the original 9-inch rear end hangs on air shocks to fine-tune that lowered stance. Color-matched steel wheels carry trim rings and hubcaps that provide a low-key look and 215/70/14 whitewall radials have a period look. Nicely built with gorgeous colors, this unique Ford offers a ton of fabrication and style for a fraction of the build cost. This is an attractive car that drives beautifully, and proves once again that flathead Fords remain special vehicles that everyone should enjoy at least once in their lives. And at this price, there's really nothing stopping you from making this your next favorite toy. Restored with a close eye on the past, this is a fresh and very stock Ford. With so many becoming customs with chopped tops and suspension-dragging lowering jobs, this 2-door sedan has a refreshing honesty about it. The dark blue paint is pretty close to the original Sheridan Blue and it looks fantastic on the curvy '50s Ford bodywork. It's not perfect, but why would you want it to be? Instead, it has a clean look that looks like it's always ready to have fun and you can happily take this car anywhere because it fits right in regardless of the situation. The straight sheetmetal reflects nicely and gaps are good, suggesting that this car was never wrecked or seriously rusty. Fender skirts make it look more substantial than the Chevrolet competition and there's plenty of brightwork to make it seem upscale. The simple single-bar grille is nicely finished, the heavy bumpers look big enough to go through a brick wall, and the round taillights are arguably the beginning of Ford's fascination with jets. It looks great. The gray upholstery uses correct striped fabric and broadcloth to accurately reproduce the '50s. Dark blue carpets are a tasteful contrast that works rather well with the blue bodywork and the low-gloss gray dash top and garnish moldings are handsome as well as functional. The simple instrument panel is a crescent of gauges atop a half-circle of speedometer, all surrounded by a big, black steering wheel. Ford didn't yet offer an automatic transmission, so a 3-speed manual with a column shifter was standard equipment and it works just fine here. The secondary controls are arrayed to either side of the main instrument pod, with a separate clock molded into the top of the dash. Underneath the clock you'll find the original AM radio, which, remarkably, remains fully functional. A spacious back seat looks inviting for two and the big trunk will easily carry all your luggage and includes an original rubber mat and spare whitewall tire, just in case. In 1953, the venerable Ford flathead V8 had grown to 239 cubic inches, which helped bolster torque output. It's easy to recognize, even wearing bright orange engine enamel, which offers a great contrast under the hood. A correct oil bath air cleaner, reproduction hose clamps, and a proper six volt generator all make the driving experience very authentic today. It starts easily and runs so smoothly you almost can't feel it idling and the custom dual exhaust system with glasspack-style mufflers has a traditional "flatty" sound that will bring back memories of your youth. The undercarriage appears to be largely original, although the rear end looks to have been recently freshened and it does ride and handle very nicely. Road manners are quite good, assisted by a set of recent 205/75/15 whitewall radial tires that look great around those smoothie hubcaps. No surprises, just a clean, honest flathead Ford. If you've never owned one, you don't know what you're missing and if you're already one of the faithful, this is a fun, inexpensive way to enjoy an old favorite. 1954 Ford Customline. Car has power steering and brakes and has had all Chrome redone. The body and floor are solid and the paint I would rate a 7/8 out of 10. This car is a show winner and has a 77 Lincoln Versailles engine and automatic transmission installed. The interior has been redone with nicely upholster red and white bucket seats in the front and a nice bench seat with a center armrest in the back. There is an aftermarket heater/defroster installed and the car has been converted to a 12 volt system. There is a Dukes of Hazard horn(Dixie) installed and the regular horn remains also. This car has an aftermarket radio installed however also comes with the original radio that did not work. There are a few spare parts that will come with the car. All locks work along with all windows roll up and down with nice glass all around the care. The interior dash clock is windup and works great. Over $25k has been invested in this car with to many parts to list and it is really nice. Trunk has been redone with new carpet and is solid. The spare tire is just that and could be replaced as it is not that great. The car has oversized real knock off wire spoke rims and tires which set this car off. This is a nice car that look and runs great.
