Here is a 1992 Geo Metro hatchback, for sale by the original owner. I bought this car brand new and drove it off the dealership lot with only 18 miles on the clock....there's a few more miles on it now! This car has the original engine and automatic transmission, and both have been rebuilt. The engine needed a rebuild at 108,000 miles, so it got the works....new head, new valves, new (slightly oversized) pistons, bored-out cylinders, and machined crank. It had a less involved second rebuild due to a headgasket problem another 100,000 miles after that. It still runs great 50,000 miles after the second rebuild and the transmission functions smoothly. The transmission was rebuilt by the dealership under factory warranty and has been perfect ever since. The car is basically unstoppable (according to family and friends!) as it is now pushing 300,000 miles and it runs like a top. The downside is that this has been a Michigan car its whole life, and the rust has finally caught up with it, much to my dismay. At its last inspection by my mechanic, I got the dire news that the underbody was so rusty that he did not consider it to be roadworthy anymore. He urged me to take it off the road, and I did so, but very sadly. I am now putting the car up for sale to someone who is hopefully willing to either tackle the undercarriage issues or who is just looking for some great parts. Here's what this mighty Metro has to offer: good running original engine; smoothly operational automatic transmission; fairly new radiator; fairly new starter; fairly new brakes and brake lines; brand new special order 12-inch snow tires on front wheels; rare factory air conditioning set up (air conditioner itself is non-functional but all the parts are there); excellent window glass all the way around with NO cracks; am/fm aftermarket radio/cassette player (works!); and tons of exterior and interior parts. I should mention that the engine does leak a little bit of oil, and the interior has the kind of wear and tear that you'd expect for a vehicle that was my main transportation for a good portion of the last 22 years. However, I am a non-smoker so the car has never been smoked in. I also have the factory window sticker and will include that for the buyer, along with a few misc extra parts and things I have. Although the pics will reveal the heavy amount of rust, you will notice the doors are not too bad. That is because about 5 years ago I replaced the very rusted out original doors with some perfect doors I got off another Metro. The doors had to be painted to match and installed by a local bodyshop, which ran me about $1300. The new doors have started to rust a bit but are very savable. I never hesitated to put money into my baby the last 22 years.....whatever she needed, I took care of.....but the rusted undercarriage has finally defeated me. My hope is that a fellow Metro lover will be better equipped than I am to take on this project and that the car will live on, one way or another. Geopalooza is coming right up in August....maybe you need some of these valuable parts to get your "show car" Geo Metro ready for the big shindig??! Okay, now for the logistics of the matter........Payment is expected within 3 days via guaranteed funds or cash. Transport will have to be arranged by the buyer, and I am happy to provide 14 days for that to be arranged. For obvious reasons, I do not recommend driving it to its new home. It has been parked for quite a few months now, and will undoubtedly need a jump to start. Now that it is not my everyday driver it doesn't start at a flick of the key like it used to! I live in the Lansing, Michigan area and can be pretty accommodating about a meeting time to close the sale. We do add 149 dollar fee to every car we sell. We require a 500 dollars non-refundable deposit within twenty-four (24) hours. This deposit can be made through PayPal to [email protected] (Paypal deposit is used to place a hold on the car, it will be refunded back to PayPal, ones the car is Paid in full. Usually this is done with in 1-2 days after the car is paid in full). In the alternative, you can make your deposit Cash in person or Bank wire transfer. If the deposit is not received within the required time frame and alternative arrangements were not made, we reserve the right to make the vehicle available for sale to another buyer. The remaining balance is due within 5 calendar days of making the deposit. You must fax or email us your State issued driver’s license after you make the deposit. We reserve the right to keep your deposit and resell the vehicle to another buyer if final payment is not received within 5 calendar days. As final payment for the vehicle, we will accept a certified bank check, bank loan check, wire transfer, or cash. We will not release the vehicle and/or title until funds clear. If you pay cash, you can pickup the vehicle immediately. If you pay by wire transfer the vehicle will be available for pickup once funds are available in our account. If you pay by bank check, you will have to wait nine (9) business days until the funds clear. 8. Title Information: Vehicle titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In some cases there is a delay in receiving the original paper Title after the vehicle is paid off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at the time of sale, there are occasions where we may have to wait for them to arrive. It may take anywhere from 3 to 7 business days for us to receive the title. 9. Bidder’s Age: You must be 18 years of age or older to bid/purchase. 11. Storage Terms: Once the auction/sale completed, we will store the vehicle free of charge for six (6) calendar days and at 20 dollars per day after that. Ones the payment has been made, the vehicle will be stored free of charge for ten (10) calendar days and at 20 dollars per day after that. 10. Liquidated Damages: In the event that the winning bidder refuses to honor his/her obligation to purchase the vehicle, we shall be entitled to liquidated damages from that bidder as follows: a. $5,000 in liquidated damages on a vehicle sold for $15,000 or less. b. $7,000 in liquidated damages on a vehicle sold for $15,001 - $40,000. c. $10,000 in liquidated damages on a vehicle sold for $40,001 or greater. 11. Choice of Law & Forum: Buyer agrees that in the event any dispute shall arise, it will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York and litigated in Richmond County. See above description for specifics on defects or pictures. I don't BS on selling cars, you won't find any "surprises" when buying, unless I literally did not know about it. (Though sold "as-is", since 33 years old.) Please ask if you have any questions, I'll answer to the best of my ability. 5 Speed Manual. Light blue, has been repainted I suppose from Midas, original color was a slightly darker blue it seems.Runs and drives great. 139,xxx miles on original engine. Transmission is in great shape, shifts well. (See defects above for only issue)NO CEL, DOESN'T BURN OIL. DOESN'T OVERHEAT. Definitely needs a little something done with carb by someone who knows them. I'm a college student and not a mechanic! Still runs and gets A2B no issues. Just could be better on efficiency and removing a slight delay.Carburetor was changed to a Weber-style downdraft. Will come with original carb but that had a leak around throttle / needs repaired. Grill is complete with headlight doors, though a little cracked in some places.All glass is good. Little scratch I just noticed on drivers window. Just had a fresh wash, polish and wax. & Will have oil changed before sale. I average about 30 mpg from this in mixed driving. It's been treated very well, however a carb is just not for me. It'd be a great car for someone who would want to fix up and go to car shows (I've had a lot of people inquire about it) or drop a new engine in and take it to the ring. Many of these cars are gutted, though, so it'd be well worth it to keep it together. The newer things on this car by me are:Just replaced ball joint a couple weeks ago on driver's side. Mech said the passenger side appeared to be newer already.Alignment was done with the ball joint (has a slight left pull they couldn't get out)Brakes pads on both & passenger caliper on front.New weber-style downdraft carburetor. It wasn't a proper fit, but we had a custom adapter piece made. Will need some adjustments from someone who knows carbs. 2 new tires (front), 2 decent (rear).U-joint. New hoses.Distributor cap.Spark Plugs and Wires.Oil changes every 4k.Starlet leather keychain on rearview & Toyota lanyardI have some receipts stuffed in the glovebox that will accompany the car.As well as all little misc pieces in the two ashtrays, couple extra gaskets, bolts, etc, anything I find will go with. Toyota Jack, some tools, etc.Have ITM TIMING CHAIN KIT. Did not get around to installing. Will come with. Previous Owner's Records:Radiator I think was taken from a Geo Metro. Back Louvre is Shadow brand. It looks great, one screw missing. ($300+ pricetag on one of these guys)Thermostat. Radiator Hose.PCV Valve. New springs kit & hardware.Wheel cylinders. Toyota Mud Flaps. Toyota Decal on wing window.Pinstriping.Undercoat.Muffler / Exhaust. Notes: Red Top battery does not come with. Will have a regular lead-acid battery when sold. I did not take the seat covers off in the photos. They're BAD underneath, and I don't want to take them off.. Previous owner did not tend to the vinyl cracking and foam coming off at all. First thing we did was buy seat covers to prevent further wear. Would recommend replacement or reupholstering. Seat Covers will remain on car, but Leather cushion on Driver's set also does not come with. Will add more pictures or even videos on request. If you're local message me to set up a time to view it.
