This is a very nice 1968 911 USA coupe SWB, with 911S trim, , all matching # COA, California car . Polo Red with black interior , matching # engine upgraded to 2.5 911S specs with Webers and has Fuchs wheels . I bought this car from the second owner in Salinas ca , car has been stored for many years , we towed it back to our shop , changed the fluids , new battery and it fired right up Wow. But the engine smoked a bit and had oil leaks and the paint was a checked up , so we took it apart to re-spray the paint and go through all the Mechanicals . Its always such a pleasure to work on these early Porsche cars , specially when they are so original and have no rust ' BODY This car was taken completely apart, then stripped to bare metal (Soda Blasted), epoxy primed , then prepped and a high quality original color Paint was sprayed on the car. This car has no rust, great bodied and very car. All new German rubbers and seals were used to assemble the car. INTERIOR is mostly original, but the seats, headliner and carpets are new from Auto's International. Dash has been upgraded with 911S trim and emblem. THE ENGINE is based on the original block # matching and has been upgraded to a 2.5 liter 911S spec engine . This is a very special engine rebuild included a std Polished counter balanced 911S crank (magged for cracks), all new bearings . Rebuilt 4 rib oil pump, new pistons with aluminum cylinders, heads are upgraded to RS big valves and ports, new guides, intake valves, springs chains, ramps, Teflon seals and HYD Carrera pressure fed Tensioners turbo aluminum valve covers. The cams are from Doughtaly Racing Cams DC-30 grind (between a 911E & 911S spec) they work great . The Weber carbs have been upgraded to S specs too, (larger jets and venturies). The engine still looks correct for 1968 except for the late hyd tensioners) and SSI stainless steel exhaust. But it sure runs great, crisp, and lots of power. TRANSMISSION is the original 5 speed and has been rebuilt. All new shift and peddle bushings installed . New clutch and cable too. SUSPENSION & BRAKES This car came from the factory with 911S suspension and brakes, vent front rotors, we have taken it all apart rebuilt and rebuilt the konis, installed new bushings, master (duel) and brakes . We reserve the right to end this listing at anytime should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. The following terms of sale This Vehicle is Being Sold "As-Is." No extended warranty available for this vehicle. History of the 1968 911S In 1968 US Porsche enthusiast would have to do without the experience of driving a 911 S however. It was no longer exported to the US because of emission standards. A 911 L was available instead, basically an S with a normal tune engine. In 1969 the S was however again available for the US. That year the S got six-inch-wide wheels and had 190 bhp in European spec, or 170, if you ordered the US version. Two other versions of the 911 were also available, the 125 bhp (or 110 for the US) 911 T, basicly a 912 with the six-cylinder engine, and the 911 E, the 'normal' 911. The 911 E had 160 bhp for Europe, and 140 for the US.
