No, take a closer look and you'll find a very unusual combination of options and colors, plus a spectacular restoration, all adding up to a car that stands out for all the right reasons. The first unusual thing you'll seen when this car rolls up is the lovely Mountain Green paint, which is this car's original color. You don't see it all that often, but it suits this Camaro just fine, adding to the ultra-clean look of the early F-body. Paint and bodywork are expertly done, with super straight sheetmetal, great panel alignment, and gaps that are probably better than new. A black stripe around the nose adds some contrast, but the rest is so clean that you can almost smell the fresh paint. It hasn't been converted to an SS or modified with a cowl hood, so it has that low-key look that probably typified Camaros of the period, and we like that quite a bit. Taken on its own, the Camaro's shape is quite attractive; muscular without being too overt about it. Some nice chrome trim certainly helps, along with shiny stainless window surrounds and proper emblems, all of which enhance the sparkling restoration. Inside is where this Camaro really shows off, and not just because it's fully restored. First, you'll note a front bench seat, which I'm guessing you've never seen before. It wears correct Strato seat covers, which include the silver accents, and the center armrest is a nice touch. The bench seat also means a column shifter, making it possible to fit three across if you're so inclined. Even more fascinating is the fold-down rear seat, an option that heretofore was the sole domain of Mustang fastbacks. It's very cool here, making this Camaro a lot more practical. The gauges are crisply rendered with nice clear lenses and we have to admit we've always liked the standard Camaro steering wheel. The factory AM radio is still in the center of the dash and the only demerit we can find is some age on the chrome surrounding the heater controls. The aforementioned trunk is neatly turned out with a reproduction mat and a full-sized spare with jack assembly. The restoration really shines under the hood, where you'll find a correct 327 cubic inch V8 dressed for show. It's complete with an original smog system, which is an incredibly rare find, and it's still inhaling through its original 2-barrel carb. Someone obviously cared about authenticity. Chevy Orange paint, a correct single snorkel air cleaner, and plain valve covers add to the factory-correct look. Power steering and brakes make this car as easy to drive as your modern iron and the 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission makes the most of the 327's ample torque. A new dual exhaust system sounds just about right for a car that neatly straddles the performance/comfort line and the undercarriage is every bit as nice as you'd hope in a car that looks like this. The absolute right choice of rolling stock makes this one truly shine, bright factory Rallys wrapped with correct G70-14 Firestone redlines that take you back to the '60s.
