Excellent example of the Mark IV. The pictures tell the story. Older paint job, with a few baubles here and there but an overall nice appearance. Runs great, fires up on first push of starter button after applying some spark advance. Holds 40 pounds oil pressure on idle. Everything works, lights, horn and gauges. Even the side semaphore flippers (trafficators) pop out when the turn signal is turned on. Very impressive. I believe the headlight lenses are from a Rolls Royce, but I have the two cracked originals. The Windshield cranks out okay, but the seal is rough. Sunroof opens and closes nicely. The interior wood is original and the upholstery has been redone. Seat frames and hardware are original. All in excellent condition. Seats are very comfortable with back center armrest. Front seats adjustments work. Wood on doors and dash is excellent for it's age with a few cracks. Headliner is very nice and could be the original. Windows crank up and down easily. Floors are solid, underneath looks good. Frame shows no problems. I did have to recondition the front shock links, but the shocks (front and rear) are in nice operating condition. The car had been stored in a Florida garage for several years and I had to replace the fuel tank (hard to find and pricey) and clean out the lines. Also rebuilt one of the fuel pumps and cleaned and tuned the carbs. The motor was overhauled (as evidenced by new freeze plugs) by a previous owner, but I have no paperwork to show what was done. She runs down the road smoothly with all gears working properly and brakes doing a good job. I have only driven this car short distances around home, so don't know how it would perform on a long distance run. I believe one would just have to be patient. The chrome could use some attention as it is becoming pitted and lacks original luster, but it is all there. The original tool box is still nicely felted in the trunk lid, but the top piece had been replaced by a piece of plywood held down with four bolts. I have cut a new piece and purchased the felt for reinstallation of the tool box lid. I do not have the tools. Actual mileage is unknown. Now for the bona fides on this automobile. It comes with the original Registration booklet issued in England, paperwork showing how and when it was shipped to the USA, even the Shipper's invoice and name of the ship. An appraisal dating back to 1979 describing the cars condition at the time and work that had been performed. Ownership papers since arriving in the USA (Alabama) and many other documents regarding the genealogy of this car. This paperwork alone attracted us at the time of purchase. Several examples are in the attached photos. I also have the original air cleaner assemblies, Airconditioning/demist unit, extra hub and other parts that belong to this car. The overall condition of this sedan, coupled with the paperwork pedigree, helped me establish the reserve price. It is slightly above that for a condition three, but far less than a condition two. INSPECTIONS A word about our service check out. I have had this vehicle inspected by an independent service center. They are in business to find problems that they can correct. After the inspection is complete, they call me with the results. I then either do the repairs and put the vehicle up for auction, or if the problems are too numerous, and it looks like she's going to be a problem vehicle, I liquidate the vehicle at a local auction. My repairs average about $400.00 per unit. Please understand that we are not in the vehicle restoration business. I don't replace every teeny tiny part that is not brand new. The folks who check out these units have been working with us for several years now, and they dont abuse my business. If the brakes are in good shape, they tell me. If they are below their recommendations, I replace them. If they tell me that it needs an alignment, I have it aligned. If it doesn't need an alignme... All these vehicles are driven by myself, and I do everything I can to deliver a clean, reliable product. I don't like any surprises, and I know that you dont either. These are all used vehicles. Something will one-day break down on it. I dont have a crystal ball that will tell me when and where it'll break down! I wish I did!
