Or does it go around back with all the others? Using these criteria, the 2001 XK8 (in either coupe or convertible form) passes the test. And it's a good thing, too — because if considered solely on its objective merits, the Jaguar would have some explaining to do. It is cramped inside and not especially comfortable. Leg room is fine, but shoulder and head room are tight if you are over six feet tall. The steering wheel obscures the instruments, but they're easier to read than the miniaturized screen for the now-standard GPS navigation system. It has style. And that, friends, has been the Jaguar ace in the hole for years. Today's Jaguars have the added merit of being decently put-together, too. Purchasing a new Jag is no longer evidence of lunatic devotion to the brand, all other considerations notwithstanding. The new "AJ" 4.0 V-8 used in both XK8 models, for example, is an excellent and thoroughly modern powerplant. At 290 hp, it's also nice and snappy, though it would be much better if Jaguar allowed buyers the choice of a manual transmission.Pretty much everything imaginable is standard.The DVD-based satellite navigation system is an improvement over CD-based systems, which require you to swap discs for different geographic regions.New for 2001 are seat mounted side airbags, object-sensing park assist, a six-disc CD-changer (trunk mounted) and heaters for the front seats. The car also has a high tech, "ultrasonic" occupant detection system that adjusts airbag deployment force accordingly, or turns off the passenger-side bag entirely. Runs and drives great! It was purchased in Texas and split it's time between CA and OK for business trips. Car is in great condition and has been very well kept and adult driven. Regular maintenance and care abound. Tires are in great shape, with minor camber wear on the front right. Paint and body are in excellent shape with some minor road rash under the front bumper. The condition of this vehicle is exquisite for it's age. It does have an abs check light(not uncommon for this model) and a very slow coolant leak. The sensor within the abs unit can be rebuilt to remove this check light very inexpensively. The interior is in excellent condition with minimal wear. Car has clear California title! This is a Southern California 1962 Jaguar XKE roadster. Note a sampling of the vehicle registrations over the years in one of the photos. Mileage on the odometer shows just 22,995. A restored 1961 XKE roadster (in a funky brown color) just sold last week for $380,800.00 at the Keno Auction in New York. I purchased the car about 8 or so years ago with plan of making it a high performance XKE. At the time it was a good running Jaguar but I wanted a perfect car and so restoration work was begun at a local exotic car repair and restoration shop. However, the mechanic who was working on my car left and so for the last 8 years the car has (literally) been sitting on a hydraulic lift for all these years! (No exposure to moisture here!) Since I purchased the car the value of the XKE, particularly the super early cars like this one, has gone up dramatically. Such that the only logical thing to do is restore it back to OEM stock. I simply do not have the time at this point in my life to do the restoration so I am putting the car up for sale, this time with its matching number engine and the original four speed manual gearbox. Plus, my passion was for a high performance build not a stock build. But with the collectablity of these very early E-Types this car is better suited to a pure restoration. Included in the sale are thousands of dollars in new replacement parts, many of which be duplicative. E.g., the original bumpers are in good shape but i purchased another set anyway. Similarly, the door handles, etc. The wire wheels are new as well. The interior (seats, door panels, etc.) are good enough to probably use as is but if someone is restoring it they should be gone over as well. Jaguar built very few XKE roadsters in 1962. When this car was built there were only around 4,000 XKE roadsters produced globally for model years 1961 and 1962 combined. (That's an average of about 2,000 cars a year while Ferrari is producing more than 6,000 cars a year.) The engine is currently being gone through, including a valve job and upon delivery it should be ready to simply be dropped in the car. It's getting harder and harder to find these early XKEs unrestored and in solid condition like this Southern California car. This is a great winter project that will make the new happy owner a nice return on their investment. The car is sold As Is.

This example was manufactured in March of 1963 and delivered to a California dealer. It was purchased by its first owner and then sold to its second owner in 1965. The second owner lovingly cared for the car, always garaged and covered the car and sparingly used it. He owned the car until February of 2015, a period of 60 years of ownership ! The car still retains its black plates that were issued to it when new. The car was the recipient of a ground up restoration with an emphasis on the use of original components. The sheet metal, glass, bright work, fasteners etc. are original. The car also retains its original compliment of tools along with its jack and manuals. The mileage is original. During the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2015, the car received a re-fresh of the comprehensive restoration with an emphasis on the engine compartment and was photo documented. At the Jaguar Club of North America (JCNA) Los Angeles Concours in 2015, the car was awarded 1st in class with a score of 99.98 out of 100. The car was then shown at the San Marino Motor Classic where it again won 1st in class. It drives as wonderful as it looks and with its fascinating history is a great example to own.
