***5/26/14- The reserve ($13K) was not met, so I am offering my GTO once more for your consideration. The high bid, via auction style listing, was $10,000 even, so please do not offer less than this amount. If you were a top bidder on my car, please make me your best offer, and I will seriously consider it. I will consider meeting in the middle between $10-13K, which is a great deal for someone, as this is a valuable and highly collectible car restored. If you are new to my listing, please read my initial description below from my listing that ended Saturday evening. Please remember that I have dozens more photos, and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have, so email me with any requests. I will also show the car in person to anyone seriously interested. Don't miss out because this will be the last time I offer it on eBay. If unsold after my second offering on eBay, I may take it to GM Carlisle in a few weeks, where I feel confident it will sell quickly for $13K. Thanks again for considering.*** Welcome. Up for sale is my 1969 Pontiac GTO. This is NOT A CLONE. This is a REAL 242 GTO WITH PROPER DOCUMENTATION, including ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER AND BUILDSHEET. I have too many classics to juggle at once, and it is now time to part with several of them. Please see my other listings for a few other vehicles I'll be selling from my personal collection. I am restoring a rough 1968 Camaro (not for sale), and I am offering my GTO only to help fund my Camaro. I do not need to sell my GTO, so please do not insult me with low offers. If you are seriously interested, kindly bid what you willing to pay up to. The car will not sell until the reserve is met. The reserve is a bargain in my opinion for the car offered. THANK YOU! GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THIS CAR: As stated earlier, this IS A REAL GTO WITH GREAT FACTORY OPTIONS AND AN EXTREMELY SCARCE COLOR COMBO. THIS CAR IS IN A GREAT STATE OF ORIGINALITY, BUT IT NEEDS WORK TO BE SHOW READY. IT IS A GREAT, ORIGINAL DRIVER AS IS. THE FRAME IS SUPER SOLID WITH NO ROT ANYWHERE AND THE ORIGINAL BODY PANELS ARE SOLID AS WELL, NEEDING ONLY MINOR WORK. THE INTERIOR NEEDS THE BULK OF THE COSMETIC RESTORATION. THE DRIVETRAIN IS POWERFUL, SMOOTH, AND STRONG NEEDING NOTHING. TURN THE KEY AND DRIVE IT ANYWHERE! CLEAN AND CLEAR PA TITLE IN HAND AND READY TO TRANSFER. ORIGINAL WINDOW STICKER AND BUILDSHEET TOO! OVERVIEW: Again, this GTO is a survivor. I have owned this GTO two years in August. It has PA Antique plates on it. The previous owner drove it regularly with NJ antique plates as well for three years prior to my purchase of the car. I enjoy taking it to local cruise ins on Sunday evenings and work on nice days. It is driven once, maybe twice, per week from the spring until fall and put away winters. I have put about 2K miles on it in my nearly two years of ownership. Aside from the originality of this car, the best part of this car is the way it drives. In fact, the performance of this car was what sold me on it. I love the fact that it is so well-preserved, yet the engine has been built and freshened for performance and reliability. It has never once let me down and always fires up on the first crank thanks to the Interstate battery and Edelbrock carb. I only run Sunoco 93 fuel in it. In fact, I drove it the five hour drive home the day I bought it. It got 12.2 mpg on the highway, even with a few rapid merges and passing moves. On the rural roads where I live, I get over 15 mpg., as I do not drive it hard. I only open up the four barrel here and there to keep it from loading up. I have never taken it down the drag strip nor put it on a dyno, so I can only speak of its power from the "seat of the pants" experience. I previously owned a BMW M5 with 400 net horses (sold on eBay two years ago), and this goat feels every bit as strong off the line and at speed. Obviously, it does not have the top end speed of modern muscle cars, but it will still charge past the 100 mph mark with ease. Hit the long pedal and prepare to hold on. It pushes you back in the seat and loves to leave a car's length of rubber with as little as half throttle. It does not lack for power, yet is very streetable. An ideal balance in my opinion. FACTORY OPTIONS/WINDOW STICKER: MY GTO WAS SOLD NEW AT KING PONTIAC IN GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND. ITS FINAL ASSEMBLY POINT WAS PONTIAC, MICHIGAN. THE BASE MSRP FOR A 1969 GTO HARDTOP COUPE WAS $3,156, WITH A SUB-TOTAL OF $3,230.48 WITH DESTINATION CHARGES. AFTER OPTIONS, MY GTO HAD A MSRP OF $4,588.15, OR $1,357.67 OF OPTIONS. THEREFORE, IT WAS VERY NICELY EQUIPPED/LOADED. IT IS A REAL AIR CAR. MY GTO HAS THE FOLLOWING FACTORY OPTIONS: CORDOVA TOP- SVT- $100.05 G78X14 WSW FIBERGLASS TIRES- TRR- $26.33 TURBO HYDRAMATIC TRANSMISSION- 351- $227.04 SAFE-T-TRACK DIFFERENTIAL- 361- $42.13 RADIO AM+FM- 384- $133.76 SPEAKER REAR SEAT- 391- $15.80 MIRROR- O/S LH REMOTE CONTROL- 424- $10.53 WHEELS- RALLY II- 454- $84.26 STEERING WHEEL- CUSTOM SPORT- 462- $34.76 CONSOLE- 472- $71.62 ELECTRIC CLOCK- 474- $18.96 POWER STEERING- VARIABLE RATIO- 501- $105.32 DISC BRAKES- FRONT- 511- $64.25 GLASS- SOFTRAY- ALL WINDOWS- 531- $36.86 AIR CONDITIONING- 582- $375.99 MATS- FRONT FLOOR- THROW- 631- $6.85 LAMP- LUGGAGE- 652- $3.16 EXPRESSO BROWN- DARK FAWN TRIM 52 BODY & FRAME: The full frame is nice and super solid, needing no repairs. I have bought cars on eBay before when the seller said the frame was solid and when I got there to pick it up, I could put my hand through the frame because of rot. This is absurd and unethical! I have examined the frame myself and I found NO ROT OR RUST THROUGH. It does have minor surface rust and peeling of the factory undercoating from age, but this is normal and to be expected- the car is 45 years old! Therefore, the frame is completelty sound. You may decide to sandblast it or recoat it to protect it for the years to come, but it is completely sound as-is. Although this car has a good frame, this car's body WOULD BENEFIT FROM MINOR RUST REPAIR in the following areas. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS CAR HAS ALL ITS' ORIGINAL BODY PANELS. IT HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED OR HAD PANEL REPLACEMENT. THEREFORE, THE ORIGINAL PANELS DO NEED MINOR ATTENTION IN AREAS. IT WOULD BE MY SUGGESTION TO REPAIR RATHER THAN REPLACE AS MUSCLE CARS WITH ORIGINAL PANELS ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN: Fender bottoms (passenger's side worse, but both are very fixable) Rear inner wheel wells and rocker panel ends (minor areas of rust through) Passenger rear quarter panel (at area above and around wheel opening) Trunk deck lid has minor rust through on the lip right below the stainless trim Small amount of rust poking through the outer door skin on the driver's side Front floor pans in a few areas below the dash from water leakage. (passenger's side is much worse) Again, they are mostly solid. I would recommend repair over replace since they are so solid and original. Under the vinyl roof and along the belt line where the quarter panel meets the vinyl roof (bubbling and small holes) AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS CAR IS 45 YEARS OLD WITH ORIGINAL BODY PANELS. THEREFORE, THE BODY HAS SMALL DINGS AND SCRATCHES THROUGHOUT, AS WELL AS AN AREA OF SWIPED DAMAGE ON THE LOWER PASSENGER FENDER. THE PAINT HAS CHIPPED IN SPOTS AND BEEN TOUCHED UP, ESPECIALLY ON THE ENDURA BUMPER. THERE IS LITTLE BONDO IN THE CAR BUT MANY YEARS AGO A PREVIOUS OWNER DID PUT SOME IN THE FENDER BOTTOMS AND QUARTER PANELS AT THE WHEEL OPENING AREA. DRIVETRAIN: The 400 Pontiac BIG BLOCK is a factory service replacement from the end of the factory 5 year warranty period (1973 SR block with SR and serial number on front of block). These blocks are very rare. In my opinion, I would consider this almost as good as matching numbers, as it was installed within warranty by a Pontiac dealer. Therefore, this GTO is on its second engine since new. This one has been in it since 1973 and put in by a dealer under warranty. However, I believe that the block is about all that remains stock '73 400 based on the performance of this car. The engine has 1970 heads, Edelbrock intake manifold and carb, and many performance mods. You can hear a mild cam that shakes the car, especially when warming up. A welded Flowmaster exhaust system completes the package. This engine was built and freshened at some point in the past decade before I bought the car. As you can see, a previous owner put a new gas tank and straps in. Based on the condition of this tank, I would say it was done in the last five years, most likely when the exhaust was put on. I do not know what all the previous owner (s) did to the engine performance wise, but this goat has serious power. I have never drag raced it or put it on a dyno, but the "seat of the pants" tells me it is a real 400-425 horses and even more torque (475-500 ft.lbs. I'd guess). You will not be disappointed with its performance to be sure! The transmission is ORIGINAL to the car, complete with metal tag and correct PX code. It is a bulletproof Turbo 400 3 speed automatic transmission. It shifts perfectly at all times, throughout the rpm band. No slippage or harsh shifts. Most collectors seek the four speed, but I prefer the exceptional durability and performance of the Turbo 400. In my opinion, the automatic handles the torque of these cars better. The same goes for the rear axle as it is ORIGINAL to the car. Correct XF code (3.23 limited slip). It is a Pontiac ten bolt, containing its original ratio of 3.23. It is a posi unit. It performs perfectly as well, with no howling or leakage. I have driven the car very moderately, but when I do open it up, the rear holds up nicely to the power, leaving two long sets of tracks to show you were there. INTERIOR: The interior will need restoration work to be show ready. The original dash is cracked and worn from age and sun exposure. The original seats are in very nice condition except for the driver's seat, which will need recovered. The headliner will need replaced. The carpet was out when I bought the car, so you will need to buy a new carpet for it. The kick panels will need repainted, as they are worn and scratched. The console needs restored as well. The interior panels are in exceptionally nice condition as the pictures show. The rear, one-piece floor mat is present. In addition, the gauges, idiot lights, and aftermarket gauge cluster all work fine. In addition, all lights, interior and exterior, work as they should. All original glass is intact and not cracked. It may have light scratching from age and wear. EXTRA INFORMATION: The rear trim rings are off the wheels in the pictures, as I just had new valve stems put in, but I do have them. I did buy (at considerable expense) a correct, original AM & FM Radio and rear speaker panel for my GTO, as well as the panel that goes in the dash from Ames, since the previous owner butchered this area for a CD player. I also bought the original stainless trim piece that goes along the rear of the car below the rear window at the edge of the vinyl roof. I am sure there are some other items I bought for it, yet have not installed yet, as it is one of several cars I own awaiting my attention. This GTO is attractive because you can enjoy driving it while you restore it. These, and any other additional parts I purchased for the car will be included with the sale of the car and given to the winning bidder. YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE CAR PICTURED AND DESCRIBED- A 1969 GTO SURVIVOR. ANY OTHER VEHICLES AND/OR PARTS IN THE BACKGROUND ARE NOT INCLUDED.
