This is a Jeep Jeepster Commando, manufactured in Toledo, Ohio in October of 1969. I believe this vehicle was sold in California or Nevada originally, and has stayed in the region for it's entire life. It has been kept in a garage when not used. It is 45 years old, turning 46 this October. It has NO body rust. It is currently a registered vehicle in the state of California, and is road legal. I do drive this Jeepster regularly. It is an active, running vehicle. In California, it is exempt from emission testing, and costs little to register. This is a driving project, its not quite done but it works. The carburetor runs a bit lean, the shocks are worn, steering is rather loose (it doesn't pull when braking), and the transfer case needs a pin on the outside. The gauges on the dash board need work too, but its an easy job. Like I said however, this is a running, driving vehicle. This vehicle is in very good condition with VERY little rust. This has been a simple father-son restoration project, but after my dad's fourth spinal reconstruction surgery, he is unable to work on or drive this vehicle. I have taken care of it well, but I lack the money to restore this vehicle alone and try to go to school at the same time. This is a very rare vehicle, and is in great shape. It isn't in need of a off the frame restoration, Its the little things around it. The hood and grill are from an cj-5. The latches and hinges are the exact same for the Jeepster Commando, with the only difference being that the hinges in the front on the fenders are in a a few inches farther out. New parts recently installed: -The brakes were redone in 2014. I have the receipts for all of this. -This vehicle is always stored in an enclosed garage, it does not sit outside while at it's home. -The interior is spotless, and the seats and floor were completely redone in 2011. I take a lot of pride in this jeep, and do not tolerate dirtiness inside or outside.-The top of the vehicle is completely removable, and is comfortable without it. It is taken off for special occasions regularly, but requires 2 people to lift. -There have been no lift kits ever on this vehicle. -Despite the steering being loose, this does not affect the vehicle's handling at highway speeds. The alignment is perfect however, and the steering is a minor issue. -The engine mounts have been newly replaced-The oil was changed only 50 miles ago, and I am very good about changing the oil regularly. *It comes with a set of emblems for the hood. It also comes with a spare tire carrier which holds 2 Jerry cans. I've been asked about this vehicle often, if it was going to an auto show, or comments on how rare it is. It turns heads when you stop. There are few of these still driving, and fewer for sale. For a 45 year old car, this is in fantastic condition. This vehicle is located in Barstow, California. The Convertible top is new, all the trim pieces are there, but the installation needs to be finished by a professional. The Dauntless V6 starts right up and runs well. My dad bought it used at Timmerman Motors in Aiken, South Carolina around 1971. I bought it from my dad in 1999. Everything is original except the wheels, they are off of a Dodge Ram van. I have the original wheel covers, but not the wheels. It has the Buick V-6 with an automatic on the console and power brakes. The brake system was rebuilt 10/12/10 at 40,099 miles. It has four wheel drive high and low with Warn Automatic Hubs. Original top, upholstery and floor mats. Paint is thin and has great patina. It has spent 95% of its life garaged. Has no rust rot anywhere, but shows some surface rust and some small dings. Has an AM radio, but antenna is broken and lying inside by back seat. Drives very nice, but tires are worn and at this pace may need replaced in about 10 years, Zipper for back plastic window is broken and will need replaced. This was originally the Half Cab, so these are rare. When I bought it it did not come with the half cab top, it came with the full size top. So I just restored that top. The half cab tops are out there tho! When I would drive this Jeep I never even had the top on, in fact after I restored it and got it home I took the top off and stored it. Never put it back on. When I took the top off there was a little paint rub. So I took it back and had it all redone. So it's clean as a whistle. That's the only reason why I never bought the half cab top, i was never planning on even using the top! I only drove this in the spring/summer/fall months. Once the salt on the streets come out, it gets garaged. Then when the rains cleaned the salt in the spring, it would come out of the garage. You can be assured that this is rust free. If you're wanting to restore a Jeep like this, don't waste your time, this one is done for you! It was a lot of work to keep it as original as possible. Including finding all the little random parts. All lights work. Directionals work. Windshield Wipers works. Heater motor works. AM Radio works. Gas gauge works. Temp gauge works. Speedo works. Horn works via additional button.
