I am pleased to offer my 1957 Thunderbird for sale, it was built at the Dearborn plant and DSO delivered to Patterson New Jersey in October of 1956. A copy of the original invoice in available and included with the sale of this vehicle. The car spent its life in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida and now Pennsylvania. A previous owner did a frame off restoration in 1994 and pictures are available and included documenting the restoration. Receipts are also available documenting the replacement parts that I purchased to upgrade this car to its current condition. The cars features include: a 3-speed “Fordomatic” transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, an original Ford Town and Country Am radio that was converted to Am/Fm Stereo and Kelsey Hayes wire wheels with new Coker Classic wide whitewall radials. The clock works, the cars tachometer as well as all the other gauges work perfectly. Included are two tops, a new canvas black soft top with an original frame and a colonial white porthole hardtop. Another factory option is a black tonneau cover, which is original and in good condition is included. The car's color is original Wimbledon white (code EE) with black and white interior (code XA). About the mechanics, the power brake booster was rebuilt along with new rear brake cylinders and resurfaced drums. The front brakes were rebuilt several years ago. The front-end parts are original and solid, the stabilizer bushings were replaced and an upgraded stabilizer bar was added. The rear leaf springs and front coils were replaced. Four new shock absorbers were installed. The exhaust system is a new aluminized system with low restriction mufflers. An electric thermostatically controlled fan was added in front of the radiator to control engine heat during stopped traffic. A rebuilt power steering control valve was added, replacing the old leaky unit as well as a new fuel pump. Engine and transmission are in good condition, previous owner replaced old gas tank and sending unit with new. The interior is in very good condition, the carpets, door sills, dash pad, door panels and armrests, window rubber moldings, fuzzies and seat upholstery are in good condition. The exterior is in good condition, showing some hints of being a 21 year old restoration. There is no rust or dents, some touch-up of chips and nicks, but all in all still a real head turner. All NOS/original, used/original or Ford approved repo parts were used in the cars reconditioning. The odometer is showing 06,988 miles (106,988), which I’m told is original by the previous owner. Everything works on this car and it has very few flaws. A lot of the outside chrome was replaced and the bumpers were rechromed in 1994. I have three Ford 14 inch steel wheels plus the spare and four original hub caps and one spare K.H. wire wheel that could be included in the sale. The underneath of the car is excellent. Included is a correct factory jack (see picture), a one year version which is worth >$400. E-mail me to discuss price or to answer any questions about the car or for more pictures. If you have done your homework with regards to 1957 Thunderbirds, you know that these cars bring the dollars and have increased in value where as some classic cars have depreciated over the last several years. Amos Minter's restorations put the 1957 Bird over the 100K price. I feel I have price my car below its real value, I would grade it between a #2 and #3 car in terms of condition.
