For all intents and purposes this is a one owner car. The most recent transfer occurred through probate of the original owner's estate who owned the car since new. He kept it meticulously maintained and garaged for the duration of his ownership. LTDs in this condition and such low milage are rarely seen. It is a beautiful example of a high-line luxury car from the 1970's. This car is in unbelievable original unmolested condition. It has a few aftermarket replacement parts, reflecting maintenance repairs over the years (battery, alternator, fuel pump, etc.) but is otherwise in 100% original condition, down to the hubcaps. It even has the original Ford keys. Cosmetically the car is a solid 8 out of 10. It shows uncharacteristic light wear due to its low milage and being stored indoors whenever it was not being used. The vinyl top is in immaculate condition, with no cracks or deterioration (see pics 11 & 12). The exterior paint still shines nicely but does have the expected nicks and chips ordinarily found in a car this age. Its biggest flaw is an area of impact damage on the left front fender that put a slight kink in the area behind the corner lamp. It appears the corner lamp was replaced to restore function and appearance, but no metal or paint work was performed (see pic 23). The lamp fits well, and the damage is almost completely unnoticable from 10-20 feet away. It could be left as-is without detracting from the overall appearance, or repaired easily without the need to replace any parts. With the exception of a couple of seam separations in the driver seat area(see pic 18), and some light carpet wear, the interior looks like new. The seats, dash, and door panels are all original and in beautiful condition. The vinyl is still supple, without any cracks or sun bleaching whatsoever. The headliner is perfectly sound without any sagging or seam separations. Mechanically it's in great condition as well. There is no indication of any prior major mechanical repairs. The alternator and fuel pump have both been recently replaced but otherwise it is in completely original configuration with no alterations or missing parts. Even the air conditioning system is fully functional. The engine starts and runs good, but does have some oil smoke when it first starts, indicative of failing valve guide seals. This is typical for the age and miles, and the smoking stops when the car is warm. There are no external oil leaks or major mechanical issues of any kind. The transmission shifts normally, and the suspension provides a luxurious ride. The brakes function properly and the tires have great tread (see pic 24) and are fully roadworthy. All the accessories, horn, gauges, and lights work except the high beam indicator (probably just a bad bulb). The conversion was done in 2007 and parked in the garage in 2010 after the batteries died and has been stored in the garage since then. The body and interior are in excellent shape. The title has been redocumented as an electric vehicle. The conversion kit was purchased from EV America for more than the listed selling price. The basic kit alone now sells for $6600. The truck is configured for 24 6V deep cycle marine type batteries, 20 in the covered bed and 4 in front where the radiator was previously located all in steel tube welded cages. The range with the 24 batteries was at least 50 miles. Extra leaf springs and air shocks were added to handle the weight of the batteries. Power brakes and heater controls fully functional with added vacuum pump. Ceramic heater installed in heater box. Amp and Volt gauges built into instrument cluster to appear factory installed. Has motor tachometer. Special bell-housing allows use of stock trans and clutch. Charger is 220V, don't know if it can be reconfigured to 110V. PS gear box has been replaced with manual box. The motor is not the original motor with the car. I ran the serial #'s on the block when it was being rebuilt and it came back as a 1969 302.
