STREET LEGAL AND IS KEPT IN GARAGE WITH TOW COVER ON IT. WHAT A REAL EYECATCHER, ORANGE METAL FLAKE WITH STARMIST METAL FLAKE FLAMES AND GEL COATED (REALLY SPARKLE WHEN OUT IN THE SUN). ALSO CUSTOM SEAT COVERS MADE OF MARINE GRADE MATERIAL TO MATCH THE EXTERIOR FLAME PAINT JOB. IN VERY GOOD CONDITION, SOLID PAN, AND RUNS GREAT. THERE IS A VERY SMALL AND UNNOTICEABLE SPOT (1 1/2 X 1/2) OF MISSING GEL COAT ON BACK OF BUGGY. I AM INCLUDING THE TOW COVER AND TOW BAR (WHICH MOUNTS ONTO FRONT-END AND CONNECTS TO TOW BALL OF VECHICLE. I BUILT THIS DUNE BUGGY TO PARADE AND PLEASURE RIDE THE FAMILY IN (GRANDKIDS LOVE IT). I AM SELLING IT BECAUSE THE SHRINE BUGGY UNIT I WAS IN DISBANNED AND I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR IT NOW (TO MANY PROJECTS AND PLAY TOYS). HISTORY OF ALLISON: THE HISTORY WRITTEN BY DAUGHTER, CAROL ALLISON. THIS IS A SHORTEN VERSION. ALLISON DAYTONA'S WHERE BUILT IN THE 1950'S THROUGH THE 1970'S BY KEN ALLISON. KEN WAS ORIGINALLY FROM TENNESSEE AND MOVED TO DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA IN 1950 AT THE AGE OF 20. STARTED OUT WORKING FOR SEVERAL AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESSES AROUND TOWN. THEN IN THE EARLY 60'S BUILT HIS OWN BODY SHOP (ALLISON'S PAINT & BODY). HE EARNED THE REPUTATION AS THE BEST PAINTER IN VOLUSIA COUNTY. HE ALSO HAD AN INTEREST IN FIBERGLASS AND DECIDED TO EXPAND HIS BUSINESS (ALLISON'S FIBERGLASS) DOING FIBERGLASS REPAIR ON CARS, BOATS AND FIBERGLASS PICNIC TABLES. IN THE LATE 1960'S DUNE BUGGIES WERE A NEW CRAZE AND THERE WERE NO MANUFACTURES IN FLORIDA. KEN ALLISON'S VISION OF A DUNE BUGGY WAS TO BUILD SOMETHING WITH QUALITY, DURABILITY AND ABOVE ALL SPORTY LOOKING. HIS FAMOUS QUOTE WAS "ALWAYS BUILD A BETTER MOUSE TRAP". THE FIRST BUGGIES KEN BUILT WERE SHORT BUGGIES AND TRUCK STYLE BUILT ON A VW CHASSIS THAT HAD TO BE SHORTENED. IN THE EARLY 70'S KEN WANTED TO BUILD SOMETHING THAT FAMILIES COULD USE AS A TOURING CAR. SO HE BUILT A FULL LENGTH BUGGY TO FIT ON A VW CHASSIS WITHOUT SHORTENING. THE ALLISON BODIES WERE KNOWN FOR THE THICKNESS OF FIBERGLASS AND WERE HAND LAID FOR QUALITY. KEN ALSO VENTURED INTO BUILDING REPLICA 1952 MG'S. KEN HIS WIFE (ALI) AND ALL FOUR OF HIS KIDS WERE ALL INVOLVED IN THE BUSINESS. IN 1987 KEN WAS NEGOTIATING A DEAL WITH A COMPANY IN KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE TO BUY THE ASSETS OF THE ALLISON BUSINESS. ON APRIL OF 1987 HE WAS FLYING HIS PLANE TO KNOXVILLE FOR A BUSINESS MEETING WHEN HE LOST HIS LIFE IN A PLANE CRASH. IT IS SAID, ANY OWNERS OF KEN ALLISON'S CAR SURELY OWNS A PIECE OF HISTORY.
