Cats Exotics is proud to offer this EXTREMELY RARE EURO version side draft carbureted iconic Lamborghini LP5000S Countach. 1 of ONLY 321 produced and believed to be 1 of only 150 remaining in the world. The Euro version was devoid of the mandated USA front and rear bumpers as well as the large rectangular side front/back marker lights, resulting in a cleaner design as intended by Lamborghini. This car is believed to be the 1983 Paris International Auto Show car as verified and documented by the Lamborghini Registry. Brand new, this car was sold to a well known USA collector and delivered new to him in Italy. A copy of the ORIGINAL SELLING window sticker is included in the sale! He then had it imported to the USA via the proper and legal methods of DOT/EPA and US Customs. Arriving at JFK Airport via air transport on May 24th 1984. After going through the proper importation process it was released for US use to its first US Owner, a resident of Long Island, NY. It was fully documented on September 17, 1984. ALL US customs, DOT, EPA as well as import documentation papers are included in the sale. This Countach was treated to a FULL multi year frame off restoration completed in 2014 with no expense spared. It remains in its ORIGINAL EURO specifications with metric calibrated units. All work was completed using NOS and/or original parts sourced from Lamborghini. The suspension was fully rebuilt. The six original Weber 34DCOE carburetors were fully re-built and re-manufactured with eye to detail by the well known Pierce Manifolds. The entire fuel system was rebuilt. The disc brakes were restored and refinished. The instruments were restored as well as all interior lighting and dash appearance. The motor was fully resealed by the well known Lamborghini restorer expert Gary Bobileff out of San Diego, California. At the time of the motor re-seal the matching gearbox was completely overhauled. The factory headers were refurbished and connected to the optional and rare NOS factory ANSA "Sport" exhaust. The A/C system was changed to the modern R134a which now blows ICE COLD. A fresh set of correctly sized Pirelli tires were added to complete this fantastic driving machine that goes as good as it looks. FULL owner's manual and service history book is found nestled in an original owner's manual leather OEM book. Toolkit and jack included. A period correct post card photo of the period correct delivery Dealership in NY. An ORIGINAL owner's key chain that was delivered by the dealers at the time of new ownership is included. Sold brand new in Italy to it's first customer, a USA citizen. It was immediately shipped to Chicago, USA and delivered to its proud new owner in Houston,TX. Copies of its Italian invoice of sale from Lamborghini Agent in Italy to the USA are included in the sale. It was driven a mere 3,700 miles under his ownership. In 1994 the second owner took possession of the car. In his long term ownership it was driven only 3000 miles. It has since been refurbished, fully documented with receipts of all parts and labor work. All the mechanics were systematically gone through and either refurbished or replaced with factory new/NOS parts. Today the car presents stunningly featuring the V12 6 carbureted side draft engine mated to its 5 speed manual transmission. It has a carbon fiber cab and cockpit, custom made to the frame. From front bumper to rear bumper is 165". From the front wheel axle to the real wheel axle is 103". The car is 42" high at the center of the car. The body is attached with rubber mounts but the body can also be unhooked and taken off for maintenance. It has an after market a/c unit. I believe the wire harness is from an Oldsmobile. The car has been sitting for awhile when I got it. I bought this car a while back and was going to do something with is but currently do not have the time. I have only heard the car run one time and it lasted about 5 minutes. I drove it down the driveway and around the neighborhood and came back and it quit as I was going up the driveway. It has not ran since. When I purchased the car, the guy I bought it from, said it will run when it wants to. The car has some wiring/electrical problems. The engine and transmission is in good working condition. The engine sounds very quiet and does not use or leak any oil that I know of. It has an after market aluminum fuel tank. I have the Lamborghini 90 degree door hinges with shocks. The car needs to be painted and finished. The doors are not attached, does not have door windows or windshield, no boot hinges or engine bay hinges. There is no part on this car that is a Pontiac Ferrio. This is a custom built chassis for a Lamborghini kit body. The car does not have a title. Lamborghini and Ferrari both have their faithful followers, but within this epic saga between the two fabled Italian Super Car manufacturers there is a clear divide when Lamborghini introduced the Countach to the world in 1971 at the Geneva Motor Show. The reality however was not apparent until 1974 when the first production car was delivered to its first Australian owner. As the years went on the LP400 evolved into the LP400S (series 1, 2, and 3) and then onto the LP5000 in 1983. It was by this point that Lamborghini had a very well developed example of an original idea. With this also came an equally well developed following of die-hard enthusiast who were now very loyal to the brand. These early Countach owners and fans were to be the basis of the enthusiasm that drove the success of the Countach’s contemporaries: The Murcielago and the Aventador. The LP5000, in 1983, was the ultimate combination of original Countach Styling (LP400) and adapted up-to-the-minute technology for Lamborghini with a larger 4.7L motor, since its introduction in 1974. It is said that the LP5000 and the 25th Anniversary of 1989 are the two pinnacles of the Countach experience. While the LP5000 has the raw styling of the earlier cars, it’s the 25th Anniversary cars that have the ultimate combination of mechanical enhancements that allow for reliable and functional enjoyment. Introduced at the Grand Prix at Monza in 1988 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company, it was well received and easily the pinnacle of 1980’s Design thanks to the classic Bertone styling. With only 658 examples produced between 1989 and 1990 the Anniversary Countach saw 183MPH, 0-60 in 4.7 Seconds, wider rear tires, additional vents to improve cooling, and lightly redesigned panels and much more throughout. These additions equated to the ultimate iteration of the world’s most famous poster car. The example on offer here, chassis number ZA9CA05AXKLA12470 is finished in classic Italian colors of red with contrasting tan leather interior and optional red seat piping. In examining the clean Carfax, it shows only two owners. The first residing in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1993 with 375 Kilometers registered. The second owner purchased the car in 1997 with only 2,258 Kilometers on the odometer, sparingly driving it on special occasions adding a mere 3,044 KM in 18 years. Presently, the car has just 5,302 km’s and has been sitting on and off for the better part of the last 5 years. Cosmetically, the paint shows some signs of road use towards the front and minor blemishes throughout. Generally speaking, the factory paint from Lamborghini was not of the highest quality in the late 1980s with many Countach’s experiencing fading, cracking, and shrinking due to poor paint quality and application. Thus, many owners choose to have high quality repaints completed. This car however, has not had a glass out repaint and still retains much of its original paint which unfortunately is showing its age with slight spider cracking on the engine compartment hatch, small chips around the headlights, and shrinking around the seams of the rear wheel arches. These blemishes are perfectly acceptable if one’s goal was to drive and enjoy the car. The wheels are of original finish with factory OZ Racing stickers intact and are presentable as-is. All glass is original and free of cracks, scratching, and serious chipping. All black trim components are acceptable as are most rubber items with the exception of the tires which are indeed original. These will need to be replaced as they exhibit significant cracking. Ultimately, the paint blemishes are minor; conducive to 80’s Lamborghini paint quality and hardly noticeable unless closely scrutinized. The interior shows as a 5,000 km car should with a dash free of any shrinking or fading. The seats also have no major blemishes and remain original. Each bolster is in excellent condition with the driver’s side showing the faintest sign of wear and true to the mileage. The headliner is as-new and all gauges are original, unscratched, and in proper working order. Door sill leather is always an area where these cars see the most interior wear as owner climb in and out. This car however, is virtually free of any scuffs or scratching along the door sills and door panels. Upon starting the car, it comes to life swiftly and sounds excellent; absent of unusual sounds, smoke or vibrations. The previous owner, a mechanic by trade, did have a clutch installed during the ladder part of his ownership which performs well. A $10,000 plus job for any Lamborghini specialty service station. All gauges read correct temperatures and pressures with no known issues to disclose. The brakes perform as they should and shifting is as smooth as a gated shift can be. Steering is also smooth and without any faults. We will however suggest a service, fluids change etc. as this car has seen seldom consistent use which is exemplary of the current kilometers. Additionally, the alternator suffers from intermittent charging issues and should likely be rebuilt. The engine bay is original throughout and thus could benefit from a thorough detailing and replacement of any dry hoses and tired clams. Many factory decals and markings remain intact as a testament to this cars originality. The front trunk area is also extremely original with factory spare, rubber fasteners, and finishes all in excellent condition for being 25 years old. The front hatch is missing its hood strut with will need to be sourced and installed. The market for 80s supercars has gained serious traction over the past two years as enthusiast from Generation X and millennials now have the disposable income to purchase the cars they lusted over as children. This car presents a great value as a low mileage example complete with manuals, tools, and jack. With minor servicing, this will prove to be an excellent driver and sound investment at a price point far below comparable cars currently on the market.

Gandini was then a young, inexperienced designer - not very experienced in the practical, ergonomic aspects of automobile design, but at the same time unhindered by them. Gandini produced a striking design. The Countach shape was wide and low (42.1 inches (1.07 m)), but not very long (only 163 inches (4.1 m)). Its angular and wedge-shaped body was made almost entirely of flat, trapezoidal panels. The doors, a Lamborghini trademark first started with the Countach, were scissor doors: hinged at the front with horizontal hinges, so that they lifted up and tilted forwards. The main reason is the car's tubular spaceframe chassis results in very high and wide door sills. It was also partly for style, and partly because the width of the car made conventional doors impossible to use in an even slightly confined space. Care needed to be taken, though, in opening the doors with a low roof overhead. The car's poor rear visibility and wide sills led to drivers adopting a method of reversing the car for parking by opening the door, sitting on the sill, and reversing while looking over the back of the car from outside. The Countach's styling and visual impression caused it to become an icon of great design to almost everyone except automotive engineers. The superior performance characteristics of later Lamborghini models (such as the Diablo, or the Murcielago) appealed to performance car drivers and engineers, but they never had the originality or outrageousness that gave the Countach its distinction. The different impressions left by the various Lamborghini models have generated numerous debates and disagreements over what constitutes "classic" or "great" automotive design (elegant looks and style, versus technical and engineering superiority). From the prototype to the 25th Anniversary cars, Lamborghini continued to improve the mechanical technology of the Countach. In 1985 the engine was improved significantly over previous models, bored and stroked to 5167 cc and given four valves per cylinder (quattrovalvole in Italian). Some body panels were also replaced by Kevlar, a much lighter and stronger material. For the first time, a US specification model was produced by the factory, with styling changes to allow bumpers to meet US federal safety standards. Although this change was the most notable on the exterior, the most prominent change under the hood was the introduction of fuel injection, with the Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, providing 414 bhp (309 kW; 420 PS), rather than the six Weber carburetors used in previous models. The 1985 US model had a base price close to $100,000. Only two optional extras were available: a $5,500 aerodynamic spoiler and a $7,500 sound system. As for other markets, 1987 and 1988 model Quattrovalvoles received straked sideskirts. Only 610 cars were built. Manufactured February of 1988, this V12 Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole is a highly original survivor in immaculate condition. It was delivered new with gold wheels and $5,500 optional aerodynamic rear spoiler. Odometer reads in kilometres, showing just 15,640 kms or 9718 US Miles from new. It was sold new to the first and only owner in Montreal, Canada at Lamborghini Montreal by salesperson Kelly Strong. 27 years later, Kelly took the same car back on trade from the original owner. This Countach had its last major service in 2013 to the tune of $9,500. It drives exceptionally well and all systems are operating as they should. This is perhaps the most iconic supercar design in the world. It is the most recognizable and one of the most loved "poster cars" of the 1970s and 1980s. It embodies the wild, luxurious and outrageous styling of the era. Yes, as contemporary reviews stated, the visibility is weak when reversing or changing lanes, but we've found drivabilty is actually very good. On top of that, the engine and exhaust sound is pure magic. I have yet to hear another V12 that makes its presence known this well. This is the "Gullwing" of the 70s and 80s.
