North America Overland is happy to offer for sale this 1986 Land Rover Defender 110. This is a nice original 115,000 mile Rover with no rust issues or mechanical issues.   Watch the video:   Body The body color is Trident green, it’s one of those colors that really looks right on a Rover. The original paint was meticulously compounded and waxed to bring out a nice luster. The old faded union jack stickers and dings and scratches give the Rover a very authentic character. It is just a nice, original, honest Rover that has obviously been greatly cared for through the years by its past owners.  The paint is mostly original, we repainted the inside of the bed and the top. The windshield gasket is new, the vent flap gaskets were updated to the newer style ones. The Rover does not have any body filler or improper repairs. The roof has dents in it and has had a crack welded, the top is removable to make it a full convertible.  The bulkhead is the original and in great shape, there was one small rust hole in the driver side floor that we repaired by cutting out the rust, inletting a new piece of steel and welding it in.       Engine The engine is the original 2.5 liter 4 cylinder that runs great. The 2.5 liter gas engine shares essentially the same block and bottom end as the 2.5 diesel, it's a fairly robust engine. The advantage of the 2.5 gas over the 2.5 diesel is the gas engine has more power and is quieter. The valves have recently been adjusted. A compression test revealed even compression: 170 180 175 175. The motor starts right up and does not smoke or leak oil. The starter has been recently replaced.   Transmission and Transfer Case The LT77 5 speed manual transmission shifts nice and tight. There are no noticeable syncro or output shaft wear, there are no clunks when shifting. The transfer case is an lt230 with a 1.6:1 ratio. Hi, Low and diff lock all shift smoothly and work great. The transmission and transfer case have recently had their oil changed. The clutch engages smoothly with no slipping.   Axles and suspension The rear axle is a Salisbury, a British version of the Dana 60. These Rover 110s are 1 ton trucks so the drivetrain and suspension is designed for severe use. Both axles have had their gear oil changed. The rubber bushings are in great shape, the suspension is tight.   Frame The Rover has its original frame that has not had any improper, shoddy repairs, it has the VIN number stamped in it matching the VIN on the body. The rear crossmember had minor rust that we repaired. The frame has surface rust but no rot or heavy scale, all outriggers are original and rust free. The frame has not been painted or waxoyled so there are no hidden issues.     Interior The interior is in great shape for its age. The plastic dash cowl support has been replaced, the front seats have had new foam and upholstery. There is no headliner.   Steering The Rover has manual steering, it is tight with no play, the Rover tracks nice and straight down the road.     Brakes The Rover stops great, it has disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear.     Electrical Unlike most Rovers of this vintage, everthing electrical works as it should. The wiring is in great shape, there is absolutely no shoddy wiring repairs, splices or any other wiring other than what came from the factory. I emphasize this because early Rovers have a reputation for faulty wiring and many have had a lot of home made repairs that can be nothing but constant headaches, that is not the case with this one. The headlights, turn signals, reverse lights, wipers, horn, heater, dash lights, cigarette lighter, clock, gauges all work perfectly. All the indicator lights on the dash for 4x4, high beams, etc. all work perfectly.     Fuel System The fuel system is in great shape with no leaks or shoddy repairs   Tires and Wheels The Rover has it’s original steel wheels with Avon Rangemaster tires and matching spare. It also has the original jack and lug wrench stored behind the seats. Optional Work We can convert the Rover to a full soft top or hard top and add jump seats and seat belts in the back if you need to carry additional passengers. We can also do a left hand drive conversion and install a 300tdi turbo diesel engine. This extremely low mileage 1997 Land Rover Defender 90, chassis number 126, is a rare example of a well-maintained and very hard to find classic Defender 90 in almost original condition. There are no accidents, rust or other mechanical issues with this defender. The paint still shines and except as described below, the body is in almost pristine condition: There are 3 small imperfections(minor dings) on driver's door. Dashboard clock is not operating. There is a very small ding/dent on top of the passenger fender. Hard to see. All minor imperfections especially when you consider the age of the car. I've moved house and the Land Rover has to go. I brought this Land Rover over from the UK last year with the intention of renovating it however circumstances have now changed and I no longer have the space to keep it. It isn't currently titled in the US however it does have the UK Title (V5) and the signed and stamped importation papers (CBP 3461, CBP 7501, EPA 3520, DOT HS-7). Its a simple process to go to the DMV and hand these over for a US Title. The vehicle is in Hewlett, NY. It is insured and can be driven. Test drives are possible and encouraged. I can also bring it into Manhattan by prior arrangement if required for viewing. The Land Rover belonged to a friend of mine in the UK. He spent a good deal of time and money renovating and upgrading it. It is fitted with Boost Alloy wheels with Goodrich Mud-Terrain Tires, terrafirma suspension, the headlights have been replaced with Halogen units, additional Wipac driving lamps have been fitted. The side lights, rear lamps and indicators have been upgraded to LED units. Lamp guards are fitted to the rear and an a-frame nudge bar mounted to the front bumper. It has checker plate on the front hood and the rear door. The main roof panel was also replaced to one without a sunroof. This is a good move as the sunroofs always used to leak. It is the correct roof panel with the Alpine Windows, correct for the County Station Wagon. The interior is standard and in good condition with no rips or tears. It is fitted with a cubby box between the front seats and has the inward facing rear seats. As it is the CSW model it has the head liner and trim finishing panels. Unfortunately the headliner above the front seats is missing, the original had the hole for the sunroof, a replacement is required for a non-sunroof version as currently configured. the headliner over the rear seats is in good condition. The engine and transmission are in good condition. It has covered 97,500 miles which is low for its age. It starts, runs and drives well. It was used recently as a daily driver and could continue to do so with no issues. The chassis is solid with no corrosion. The bulkhead is also in good condition with no corrosion. The bottom of the door frames have been replaced at some point in the last few years, this is a common repair on Land Rovers of this age and these have been done to a high standard, however the repaired panels do show signs of more corrosion. When the door bottoms were replaced the doors appear to have been repainted. The color matches the rest of the bodywork, however the quality of the paint on the doors is not as good as the rest of the vehicle. As expected on a vehicle of this age there are a number of scratches and dents. the worst being a small dent/puncture in the front RH fender. The 1988 Defender 90 CSW V8 is fitted with the 3.5L engine with Stromberg Carburettors . It has a 5-speed manual transmission which can be used in either high range or low range when driving off road. It has a mechanically locking center differential that can be locked when using low range gearing.Ebay doesn't recognize the Vin as it is an import, the Vin is SALLDVBV7EA347266.
