The methodical approach started in 2000 when a project codenamed P280 surfaced. Over 10 years later the first Lexus LFA rolled off the plant as one of the most unbelievable supercars of all time. For two years, 170 Lexus employees were tasked with the sole purpose of building the immaculate supercar. In December 2012 production stopped when the 500th car was produced. The LFA in front of you, covered in glossy black, is #203 of the rare 500. Under the glossy paint, a carbon fiber body has been fashioned with the sole intent of cutting through air as quickly as possible. Up front, a small gap under the hood forces air into the engine bay. The mirrors have been designed to channel air directly into the large vents that help cool the rear brakes. Absolutely every piece of this car serves a distinct purpose. The angles are sharp and the profile is low but neither come at the expense of aesthetics. From every angle, this Lexus is thrilling to look at. But unlike its counterparts like Ferrari or Porsche, it does so without being flashy or obnoxious. The body, covered in glossy black, claims a drag coefficient of just 0.31. Combine this with a potent engine and the LFA is capable of a top speed of 202mph. While many cars can claim low drag coefficients and high top speeds, few are as well rounded as the LFA. In the center of the black nose you'll find a Lexus emblem that is flanked by two aggressive looking front headlights. On the sleek hood, two vents allow for heat to escape from within the engine bay. We could go on and on about the body and how it was made to push the limits of performance, but the results speak for themselves. The LFA was put through rigorous testing and competitions with other supercars by many publications. The LFA set records at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Contridrom, Goodwood, and the infamous Nurburgring. Car and Driver also went as far to say that the supercar was a "bargain" when compared to an Enzo and a SLR McLaren. At the heart of the LFA is a hand built 72-degree 4.8L V10 producing 552 hp and 354 lb. ft. of torque. That power translates to 3.6 second 0-60 times and 11.4 second quarter mile runs directly from the factory. Developed exclusively for the LFA, there is no other engine in the Toyota family that resembles the 1LR-GUE. In many ways, it functions like two 5-cylinder engines. Each bank of cylinders receives its own airflow path complete with its own mass air flow sensor and air box. The plenum box is divided internally and sits on top of ten independent throttle bodies. Fuel is delivered via traditional port injection. Performance was at the forefront of every decision and it shows in a number of areas. Internals consist of forged aluminum pistons, forged titanium connecting rods and solid titanium valves that help make the 9,000 rpm redline sustainable. Dry sump lubrication was chosen to ensure the hand built engine stays lubricated through high speed corners. Compression is 12.0:1 and the engine is capable of revving from idle to redline in 0.6 seconds. Lexus engineers wanted the LFA to sound like a F1 car and it's safe to say they achieved that. The engine roars to life before settling into a quiet idle. At the upper end of the tachometer, the sound is nearly indescribable. Backing the V10 is a rear-mounted six-speed Automated Sequential Gearbox operated with paddle-shifters. To tailor the driving experience, there are four pre-programmed settings: auto, normal, sport and wet. Drivers can also opt to override the system and go fully manual if the opportunity arises. Power is sent to the road though a Torsen limited slip differential that turns a set of 20 inch forged aluminum BBS wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza tires. When it comes time to slow down, Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes get the job done quickly. The front setup is a 15.4 inch rotor with six-piston monoblock calipers while the rear wears slightly smaller 14.2 inch rotors with four-piston calipers. The front suspension consists of control arms while a multilink arrangement keeps the back end planted. The primary suspension pieces including the remote-reservoir monotube KYB dampers are aluminum. All of this is housed within a carbon fiber reinforced polymer monocoque with aluminum front and rear subframes. Depress the recessed door handle and a fully customized interior awaits you. Lexus provided buyers the opportunity to choose the color and texture of nearly every piece in the car, so finding two completely alike is highly improbable. This LFA is extremely desirable and rare based on the fact that it is a black on black exterior. The lightweight bucket seats are wrapped in black leather, as is the console, carbon fiber steering wheel and door panels. Red accents can be found on the carpet, door handles, and steering wheel. Being a Lexus, there is naturally a fair amount of technology at play in the cabin. In the center of the console, the Remote Touch controller interface operates a plethora of features including the stereo, navigation system, back up camera and even personalized vehicle settings. The gauges are elegant thin-film transistor pieces with color changing backgrounds, different sized fonts and side-appearing submenus depending on what mode the car is in. It's also here you'll notice that this LFA boasts only 124 miles! According to Lexus, analog gauges were not an option because of how quickly the car can rev. The performance minded build continues within the interior as the driver and passenger sits as close to the center of the vehicle as possible to not disrupt the weight balance of the car. The sale of this immaculately maintained and virtually untouched LFA includes the original owner's manual and related booklets, a Lexus serialized build book, driving test note, Lexus car cover and storage duffel bag, Lexus trickle charger, and a Lexus first aid kit. The results of the extensive planning by Lexus and Toyota are undeniable. The LFA impressed publications, drivers, and pretty much everyone that laid eyes on it. (PPI) in an effort to diversify their motorsports portfolio. This partnership lead to, among other successes, an off-road racing team that dominated the Mickey Thompson Off-Road Stadium Series while accumulating 27 wins and seven championships in the SCORE Desert Series. Though the team was comprised of many talented hands, legendary off-road racer Ivan "Ironman" Stewart stole the spotlight. A 2006 inductee in the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, Stewart earned his nickname by completing entire desert races without a navigator or relief driver. His efforts lead to several records including most all-time MTEG wins (17) and most Baja 500 wins (17). For 17 years, PPI and Stewart ruled the intensely competitive world of off-road racing, even taking first at the 1998 Baja 1000. That victory, along with four Baja 500's were accomplished using chassis number 015. Built in 1993 to replace PPI's aging 010 chassis, the 015 would become the Master's thesis and, ultimately, final product of a remarkably successful off-road team. Fresh out of an extensive restoration performed by the very hands that built it originally, RK Motors Charlotte is proud to offer the once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of Baja's most famed competition vehicles. At the core of this truck is an aluminum 302 cubic inch V8. Loosely based on the 1UZ-FE Lexus engine. The race version retains the DOHC/four-valve configuration but little else. Though the component list features familiar names such as JE Pistons and Carrillo Rods, every internal part has been custom built to PPI's specifications. Fuel is pulled from a custom 42 gallon fuel cell and distributed by eight EFI throttle bodies controlled by a Weber/Redline ECU. With a 13:1 compression ratio, the mill is good for over 550hp with a flat torque range from 4,000 to 7,500 rpm. Exhaust is channeled through a tuned stainless steel Borla system with USFS-approved spark arrestors. At idle, the truck is surprisingly quiet but a quick blip of the throttle ensures this is a purebred racer. Backing the aluminum powerplant is a custom PPI transaxle utilizing a 5-speed Hewland VGC 200 gear selection box often seen in GTP racing. With a vehicle capable of doing in excess of 135mph across the dunes, the suspension had to be tough. The front and rear both utilize a double A-arm setup featuring PPI coil overs with internal position sensitive shocks that can be tuned for compression and rebound. Only the rate of the Eibach springs varies between the two ends. The setup is good for a total of 22 inches of travel, making small jumps a simple matter. When the desert roads wind, steering is kept light thanks to a PPI V2 power rack and pinion with ram assist. This setup feels more natural to turn at low speeds than many of the smaller race cars we've seen. Braking power is distributed to a four wheel disc setup utilizing PPI rotors, Brembo calipers and a Tilton master cylinder. The whole setup rides on sturdy PPI custom 17" x "7 48-bolt beadlock wheels wrapped in tall BF Goodrich 37" x 17" T/A KR's. Inside, the driver is placed in the center of a hand fabricated aluminum chassis. Despite the middle seat configuration, control layout is familiar with all instrumentation directly in front of the driver and the gear selector positioned to the right. The left hand side of the dash is dominated by toggle switches that control the twelve Hella HID spotlights used to illuminate the desert at night. The right side contains switches for the ignition, fuel pump, fans and other traditional pieces most enthusiasts are familiar with. Overall, the interior is far less restrictive than most race vehicles with plenty of room on either side of the seat. The seat itself is a heavily padded Mastercraft piece with a Simpson four-point harness keeping the driver in place during tough landings. With such long stretches of track performed at once, the driver has to be prepared for anything. The truck is well supplied with a tool kit, Maglite, and hydration system all within arms reach. With the exception of additional lighting, the trucks carbon/kevlar shell has been restored to its appearance at the Baja 2000. For that race, Ivan Stewart was paired with fellow off-road icon Larry Roeseler who drove the second leg of the race. Both names are featured on the #11 number tag behind the cab. Though the composite body has seen a few different paint schemes, this one is an accurate representation of the truck's final competition appearance. All paint and bodywork was performed by former PPI employee Chris Hukill of Hukill Paint and Graphics. As noted earlier, the extensive restoration of this truck to race ready form was performed at TM1 Motorsports by many of the hands that originally built the truck at PPI. The build was watched closely by off-road racing fans and extensively documented by both RK Motors Charlotte and TM1 Motorsports. There are countless pictures of the overall build as well as videos of the freshly rebuilt engine cutting its teeth on the dynometer. The final product was shot by Dirt Sports Magazine as part of their "Masterpiece in Metal" series before being tested in Barstow by the Ironman himself. But sometimes we get the feeling that the modern street rod movement has become more about flash and less about substance. After all, hot rod culture started with guys who drove their cars out of necessity, and showed them out of desire. This razor-sharp Ford is a direct result of what happens when top notch parts meets over a year of specialized labor. And if you're a discerning rodder who's looking for a car that offers more than shiny chrome and bright paint, it's your one-way ticket to bigger and better things! Assembled from the ground up, this awesome roadster's smooth and solid fuselage began life as high quality Factory Five Racing fiberglass that the current owner structured into a streamlined roadster that sits on a Factory Five Racing Chassis. Once the build was finished, it was shipped to Precision Collision in Denver, North Carolina. The pros at Precision Collision borrowed a line of paint from the Lexus brand called Rimi Red to give the roadster a distinct and vivid color that has already started turning heads in our showroom. And today, with nary a ripple or misaligned panel anywhere, this positively gorgeous Ford mixes enough utility to hush old school skeptics with enough polish to be front row at the car show! The beauty of a well-done street rod is often found in the simplicity of its execution. In a nod to the hobby's old school hot rodding roots, the best cars are usually topped with a stripped down, all business body that emphasizes their purpose-built, high performance nature. So, when you craft a world class custom like this killer '33 Ford, the best thing to do is let its original curves do the talking and simply enhance what's already there. Our enhancements begin with flowing fiberglass fenders, which center a brushed aluminum grille between chrome-trimmed Ford headlights. Behind that grille, a lightweight hood anchors smoked glass between elegant mirrors and a black roll-bar for added safety. Below that glass, shaved coach doors seal solid along smooth fiberglass running boards. Behind those boards, two bright tail lights and a polished tag bracket ride between the trunk and wide chrome exhaust tips. And overall, the car's top notch build creates one cohesive classic that, despite significant customization, is both tasteful and easily recognized. In the name of both reliability and performance, it's common practice for traditional street rods to employ souped-up versions of proven powertrains. However instead of opting for a typical LS or 350 like so many builds before it, the builders decided to add a dressed up potent Ford Racing 302ci V8. The cast iron mill utilizes aluminum heads, full roller rockers and a flat tappet hydraulic cam to produce an estimated 350hp. At the top of the engine you'll find a chrome air cleaner that gives the engine bay a very clean look. Once air enters that filter, it flows through an Edelbrock 600 cfm 4-barrel carburetor that is equipped with an electric choke. The car also has an auxillary electric fuel pump that ensures reliable start-ups regardless of how long the car has sat. From there spent gasses travel out the ceramic coated headers into a true dual stainless steel exhaust. Cooling comes courtesy of a polished aluminum radiator that's complete with a chrome cap and a large quick-spinning electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the glossy engine compartment combines with the motor's mirror-like casting to provide a natural contrast which oozes performance appeal. The net result is a buttery smooth, muscle-bound V8 that, through its distinctive rumble, foretells the car's true hot rod nature. Naturally, the car's Factory-Five body rides on a full Factory-Five chassis that's been assembled to exacting standards. The proven 302 sends power to a tough A0D 4-speed automatic complete with overdrive gear. From there power travels down the driveshaft to a familiar Ford 8.8" from a mid 90's Mustang that is equipped with 3.55 limited slip gears. That custom drivetrain pushes a road-ready coil-over suspension, which sports rack and pinion steering and inboard mounted front springs. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to disc brakes found at all four corners. At the center of the floor, true-dual stainless exhaust breathes through throaty chambered mufflers that have been wrapped in a heat shield. At the corners of the chassis, 17" Chrome rims turn 245/40ZR17 KumHo Esta 4x's in front of 285/40ZR17 Kum Ecsta SPTs. And everything, from the car's glossy black frame to its stainless steel fuel tank, is well-planned, well executed and ready to work its magic! Pop this Ford's suicide doors and you'll find a custom black leather interior that beautifully blends simplicity with class. At ground level, black carpet weaves a thick cover beneath color-keyed floor mats that wear the Factory Five logo and billet foot pedals. At the center of that carpet, you'll find a leather wrapped Lokar shifter in the center console that flows into an armrest between driver and passenger. Above that console, a body-matched dash sports a full array of Auto Meter gauges. Seating is provided by plush, leather-wrapped buckets that feature trouble-free, manual adjustment. In front of the driver, a polished and leather-wrapped steering wheel spins around a chrome column. At the sides of the passengers, custom door panels hang billet hardware and provide an extremely upscale look to the interior. While a radio isn't present the builders were wise enough to wire the car for a radio if you felt inclined to add it to the Roadster. Nonetheless the car's now two owner body was sent to the experts at Wooding's Auto Body, you know - the guys who've sprayed many of our finest offerings, for a full restoration that resulted in laser-straight lines, a spectacular House of Kolor basecoat, and a glossy clearcoat shell. And today, this sedan is a banner showpiece that celebrates the fusion of some of Ford's greatest design work and some of the best modern mechanical components money can buy. One look down its profile reveals high quality workmanship that's top notch in every way. A close investigation of its body panels reveals even surfaces that are free of ripples and major imperfections. And from its nose to its fat fenders and humpback roofline the car's profile creates one cohesive classic that, despite significant customization, is both tasteful and easily recognized. The beauty of a well done street rod is often found in the simplicity of its execution. In a nod to the hobby's old school hot rodding roots, the best cars are usually topped with a stripped down, all business body that emphasizes their purpose-built, high performance nature. So, when you craft a world class custom like this killer '37 Ford, the best thing to do is let its original curves do the talking and simply enhance what's already there. Our enhancements begin with a Downs stainless grille which rides between two Bob Drake-supplied '39 Ford headlights and two Don's Hot Rods stainless bumpers. Behind that grille a solid steel hood, which now features filled side panels, meets a stainless-trimmed windshield that's devoid of traditional weatherstripping and cleared by relocated wipers. Behind that hood, tinted side and back glass reflects a nice pair of Barry White SRR mirrors and small, polished door handles. Below that glass, modified running boards flow toward lengthened rear fenders that are dotted with clear Ford Escort-supplied tail lights. And at the back of those running boards, an electronically lifted trunk motors above a second Don's Hot Rods stainless bumper and a manual flip-down license plate. Hit number "V" on this slick Ford's small gray key fob and its electronic clamshell hood tilts to reveal a fully detailed GM LT1 V8 that looks awesome and, with roughly 275 horsepower, offers solid, reliable motivation. Built to tear up the street and wow show goers alike, this fully-sorted package combines a sturdy iron block with lightweight aluminum heads, aftermarket fuel injectors and a computer from a fourth generation Trans Am to create razor-sharp throttle response and a torque band that's as wide as Texas. At the front of the body-matched mill a Street and Performance serpentine system, which is equipped with a full set of polished pulleys, spins a fresh alternator and a Vintage Air AC compressor at the sides of a billet air cleaner that's sealed around a small re-usable filter element. Once air enters that filter, it flows through a chrome throttle body into a factory LT1 intake which is bolted down over completely stock internals. High octane fossils are provided by a GM electronic fuel injection system. Sparks are sequenced through high performance plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic coated Sanderson headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a polished Walker radiator that's complete with a chrome cap, chrome water tubes and a quick-spinning electric puller fan. On the visual end of the spectrum, silver injector covers and chrome "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers provide a nice contrast to the car's bright exterior paint while covering the less attractive part of GM's block design. The glossy engine compartment, which includes a custom fabricated firewall, has been completely painted, jammed and detailed to match that bright exterior paint. And niceties such as a "Fat Fender Ford" motif, a full assortment of polished hardware and a graceful chrome cowl cover add the kind of flash and detail that pushes the judges right over the edge! Toss this solid custom on a lift and you'll find a fully sorted undercarriage that, despite its road-ready mechanicals, is exceptionally clean and displays very few signs of wear. While its all-steel body was off, and being refinished, this Ford's factory bones were replaced by a custom-fabricated chassis that, with the help of a few floorpan modifications, enables stellar road manners and a much more precise street presence. At the front of that new chassis, a polished Heidts Superide suspension makes excellent use of narrowed stainless control arms, chrome Aldan coil overs, two inch drop spindles and a chrome Flaming River rack and pinion steering system. At the back of that new chassis a Heidts independent suspension, which is completely stainless, chromed and polished, is fitted with a four more Aldan coil overs. And the car's original four wheel drum brake system has been freshened to better-than-new condition with the help of four polished Wilwood calipers, drilled and slotted front rotors and solid rear rotors. At the center of the floors, a polished 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission makes good use of a polished aluminum driveshaft and a polished aluminum Ford nine inch rear end that's complete with a posi-traction differential and big 3.70 gears. At the sides of that awesome driveline, the aforementioned Sanderson headers dump spent gases into a fresh stainless exhaust system that's complete with sinister Borla mufflers. And at the corners of the car, beautiful Bonspeed Crocus wheels spin 225/40ZR17 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR radials in front of 275/30ZR20 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR radials. According to this Ford's current owner, everything on its highly hand-fabricated chassis is either chrome, stainless or polished aluminum. And naturally, new stainless lines, a full set of braided hoses, a stainless Rock Valley fuel tank and a whole array of finishing hardware was carefully installed during its painstaking re-assembly. Open the doors of this classic sedan and you'll find a tasteful custom interior which combines the car's spectacular House of Kolor paint with supple Lexus leather that feels nice enough to adorn the centerpiece of your living room. The firm and modern buckets, four all total, are supportive, feel soft enough to take a nap on, and feature custom "FFF" (Fat Fender Ford) center buttons. At the sides of those seats custom door panels hang sculpted leather armrests between four power windows and four "FFF" branded speakers. Between those seats two custom all-steel consoles prop controls for the car's Vintage Air climate system, a clean Lokar shifter, a small chrome gear indicator and a fifth, "V8" branded speaker above premium gray carpet. In front of those seats a custom dash, which is constructed of solid aluminum, cants frenched Haneline gauges toward the driver while pointing polished Phipps AC vents at both the passengers and said driver. And above those seats, a custom leather headliner is stretched tightly around body-matched accents, small orange courtesy lamps and a third Barry White SRR mirror. In front of the driver, a polished Budnik steering wheel spins on a polished Billet Industries tilt steering column. At the back of the cockpit, a custom upholstered trunk conceals two Optima batteries, a 500 watt JL Audio amplifier and an eight inch subwoofer behind a remote controlled Custom Autosound 10 disc CD changer and a small Sony DVD player. That DVD player is connected to a 17 inch trunk-mounted video screen, two trunk mounted speakers, two wireless Sony headsets and two additional Sony video monitors that are located in the backs of the front seats. And from its completely hidden fasteners to its completely detailed door jams, this car's cockpit has to be one of the finest interiors we've ever offered.
