The Lotus Elan was a new fiber glass Roadster that used a brand new chassis design that would be used by Lotus for many decades to come. The Elan weighed in at 1,500 pounds and was offered with a DOHC 1557 cc engine with 4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and four wheel disc brakes. For 1967 a 2+2 version was offered to the Elan stable and offered customers more room with similar attributes of the Elan Roadster or Coupe. Lotus announced the final iteration of the Elan at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1970. It was called the Elan Sprint and offered the highest output engine of the entire series of Elans. The Elan Sprint was rated at 126hp and was tested from a stand still to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and was said to be one of the best handling sports cars of the time. The Sprint has become one of the most desirable models of the Elan line and most sought after. Sports Car International has included the Elan Sprint in their top 10 greatest 1960's sports cars and with just 1409 made worldwide these Elans have become increasingly rare and great collectibles. This beautiful 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint Roadster is finished in Colorado Orange with a Black interior. Sold new in Southern California in 1972 to the first owner this incredibly original Elan Sprint has only had three owners since new and comes with extensive documentation, receipts and records that date back to 1972. This matching numbers Elan Sprint is finished in its original Colorado Orange paint and shows very well for its age. There are a few areas where stress cracks have come through and a few areas that have been touched up over the years but overall the finish and quality of the paint is still in excellent condition. The interior is believed to be original minus the beautiful new wood dashboard and brand new boot and convertible top. Having been a CA from new and then to New Mexico for the past few years, this Sprint roadster benefits from dry climate and excellent storage. There is no rust to be found anywhere on the car. The chassis is excellent and free from any corrosion or rust. The engine starts right up and idles very well. The car shifts into gear with ease and accelerates beautifully. All of the hydraulics in the clutch are brand new so all of the gears are smooth and effortless with no slippage from the clutch. The rear diff seals and bearings have just been replaced as well as the rear diff mounting bushings. The rear suspension has been rebuilt and all new bushings and rear struts and housings have been done. The frront suspension has just been rebuilt including new coil over shocks, service wheel bearings, all upper and lower ball joints and bushings and new tie rod ends. A new exhaust has just been put on the car. New oil pan gaskets, new cam cover gaskets, new plugs/wires/coil have also just been recently done. The suspension and steering feels outstanding, very nice and tight. The ride is excellent and very solid. The engine pulls very strong and sounds great. The engine was rebuilt 2500 miles ago and is all documented with receipts. All of the electronics in the car are in operating condition including the dash lights, interior lights, headlights, tail lights, turn signals and brakes lights. The small rubber "donuts" un the back of car are in excellent condition and do not appear to be leaking any fluids. The car comes with its original tool roll, jack, spare tire, knock off tool, original US spec Acorn style knocks offs, original shift knob, original radio, owners handbook and service book with Lotus signatures and stampings from new. This car is documented by the Lotus factory as being Colorado Orange over Black and having engine number T/25112. The Lotus Elan was a new fiber glass Roadster that used a brand new chassis design that would be used by Lotus for many decades to come. The Elan weighed in at 1,500 pounds and was offered with a DOHC 1557 cc engine with 4 wheel disc brakes, rack and pinion steering and four wheel disc brakes. For 1967 a 2+2 version was offered to the Elan stable and offered customers more room with similar attributes of the Elan Roadster or Coupe. Lotus announced the final iteration of the Elan at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1970. It was called the Elan Sprint and offered the highest output engine of the entire series of Elans. The Elan Sprint was rated at 126hp and was tested from a stand still to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds and was said to be one of the best handling sports cars of the time. The Sprint has become one of the most desirable models of the Elan line and most sought after. Sports Car International has included the Elan Sprint in their top 10 greatest 1960’s sports cars and with just 1409 made worldwide these Elans have become increasingly rare and great collectibles. European Motor Studio is very proud to offer this gorgeous Pistachio Green /White with Gold Leaf trim 1972 Lotus Elan Sprint Roadster. This Elan Sprint left the Lotus Hethel production line in November of 1971 and was invoiced to the US. The car is a blue plate CA car is believed to have been in Southern CA its entire life. The body was just stripped down and repainted in its original colors of Pistachio Green with white and gold leaf trim. The interior has been completely redone in original black vinyl along with the wood dash, vinyl dash top and all of the carpets and doors. The correct factory Robbin Egg top is brand new and fits on the car properly. The car has just been completely sorted with a full service including numerous belts, hoses and seals. The top half of the engine was recently rebuilt and the carbs were just rebuilt using correct Lotus rebuild kits from JAE. All of the electrical in the car has been sorted and everything appears to be functioning and operating as it should. Both power windows go up and down, all the turn signals are operating, the brake lights, taillights, headlights, interior dash lights, reverse lights and the three lights to the right of the steering wheel are all functioning as designed. Both driver and passenger windows each have a small scratch on them from the windows going up and down. The vacuum headlights raise and lower with ease by the touch of the switch. The car does not run hot and the cooling fans quick in as designed. The car starts right up and runs and idles like it should. The Elan does not smoke or burn any oil and the car accelerates through all of the gears like it should. The engine feels incredibly strong and pulls through all RPM range. The clutch feels very solid and free from any slipping or grinding in the gears. The brake master cylinder and booster has just been rebuilt and the brakes have a good positive feel to them with no signs of fade. The suspension is very tight and free from any noises. The steering is very responsive and free from any wondering or vibrations. The undercarriage of the car is spotless. There is no sign of rust anywhere underneath the car. The Esprit was an all glassfibre body sitting over a steel backbone chassis and driven by an all new 2 litre twin cam 4-cylinder engine. Giorgetto Giugiaro from Pininfarina fame was asked to design the new flagship sports car and was given rave reviews on the stunning new shape. The car was given even higher praise when James Bond got behind the wheel for the latest bond flick The Spy Who Loved Me. The car sold incredibly well and was said by magazines to be one of the best handling sports cars ever. For 1988 the car received its first major face lift making it more modern. The next major change came for 1996 when the Esprit received its first ever twin turbocharged V8 engine. The new V8 was a 3.5 litre that produced 350hp with a 0-60mph time of 4.4 and still retaining one of the best skid pads in the sports car biz. The Esprit continued on until 2004 which was its final model year. From 1975 to 2004 only 10,675 were ever produced making the Esprit one of the rarest supercars offered. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 2001 Lotus Esprit V8 Twin Turbo Coupe’ finished in a stunning and rare shade of Inferno Red over Magnolia Connolly leather hides with Red piping. This Esprit V8 left the Hethel production line in January 2001 and is one of the extremely few finished in the color combination. The car has been a CA car most of its life and has traveled a mere 48,150 miles from new and has been exceptionally well maintained by the dealership or factory trained technicians. The gorgeous Inferno Red paint still has a stunning deep luster to it and shows beautifully. There are no scratches dents or dings and only a few tiny stone chips in the front nose of the car. All of the fiberglass still looks excellent and does not show any cracking anywhere on the body of the car. All of the glass is in excellent shape and clear and free from any cracks or chips. The lower bumper skirt does not have any damage other than a small scrape. The tires have about 65%-70% tread life left and the HRE Sport wheels are still in excellent condition. The interior of the car is in outstanding unmarked condition. The leather is still extremely soft and supple and shows extremely minimal wear. All of the piping is still in great shape and free from any damage or fade. The carpets are in excellent shape with very minor wear and the leather dashboard and center console are also in excellent shape without any peeling or shrinkage. The car starts right up and idles very smoothly and is smoke free. The car accelerates through all of the gears effortlessly and smoothly without any hesitation or slipping. The clutch is very strong and all of the synchros in the transmission feel excellent. The brakes give a very positive response and show no signs of fade or squeaking. The suspension is very smooth and tight free from any noises or play and the steering feels exceptional. The car still handles like it left the showroom floor. All of the mechanicals and electrical systems are operating and functioning as designed. The windows, door locks, power headlights, radio/cd and all the dash lights and exterior lights are all functioning as designed. The car comes with its original spare, tool kit, key and remote, owners handbook, dealer service book and warranty book. There are two tops for the car, the solid roof and the glass roof which can be stored in its vinyl case in the trunk.
