Up for auction is this beautiful 2003 Maserati Spyder. I am selling it regretfully because I need to downgrade to a practical small car. My intention was to trade it for a Fiat 500 and I still have that option, but I thought I would try Ebay first. I took it to the local Maserati dealer and they gave it a thorough checking over and found that it had no evidence of any bodywork or paint work. They found that it had a good service history at a Virginia Maserati dealer and were impressed with its mechanical condition. They noted the sticky buttons (happens to ALL of them)-cosmetic and easily fixed. In addition to sticky buttons, these 4200 Maseratis are known to eventually need a new heater core. This was recently replaced and it also got a new clutch, flywheel, F1 sensor, and thrust bearing. It had a complete fluid service in March of this year and only has 1000 miles since. The Michelin Pilot Sports have plenty of tread remaining. The previous owner spent huge money on suspension, brake, and exhaust mods. I think it was money well spent as it handles like a slot car and the sound it makes is truly awe-inspiring! Most fun I have had driving! It has a CUSTOM exhaust so it sounds exquisite. I have removed the rear secondary cats and am running straight custom pipes, so it is LOUD. It is truly amazing, The car has the ferrari Italian race car sound. I have upgraded the speakers and the wheels as well. I have: The OEM wheels with tires (90% life), HRE 449R wheels in gun metal grey and polished lip with tires (google images) (90% life) $4500 wheels, the wheels pictured on the car and an extra set of brand new tires (not pictured). I also have all of the books, all of the tools, literature, spare (in trunk) and navigation CDs as well as car cover and factory mufflers/exhaust (too quiet). I have ALWAYS maintained my car, sometimes better than I do myself. I have replaced spark plugs and I do oil changes EXACTLY 3000 miles every time with FERRARI/MASERATI Correct factory spec Oil. (dealer items). I have replaced pads (although they were not necessary). The car does NOT SEE RAIN OR SNOW. there is NOT A SINGLE SCRATCH OR DING on the car. ALL ELECTRONICS WORK perfectly. The steering wheel leather has small bubble (easy fix I will explain to new owner how to fix) some buttons have scratches (previous owner). The suspension is electronic, the clutch is PERFECT. I always drive the car cautiously and NOBODY eats or drinks in my car. It smells like new leather and it is alway clean. This car is excellent, stereo system is nice; tires on all 3 sets of wheels are PERFECT 90%+ on all. This car gets washed, polished and vacuumed regularly. Hard to find a car this clean. The rear vinyl lines that are on the deck lid are removable. The car has also a carbon fiber spoiler which I have put on ($800 part), I also have 2 bumper covers (not pictured) that I will include in the sale (they are the GRANDSPORT COVERS with larger grilles and lower splitter UPGRADES) car has a built in battery trickle charger and took kit with phone/blue tooth. The radio, Amps and Sub were all professionally installed by a local Sound Shop with meticulous care and sounds great. You also get the original parts that came with the car. The original seat bottoms were made from a rough cloth that "Scrubbed" the dyes from clothes like Jeans and other, and they held the stain. When we attempted to clean them, they got worse. We consulted Maserati of Raleigh who suggested to change them to top-grain leather that matched the rest of the interior. We did this and we also changed to bottom door panels (which also contained that horrible cloth) to match the seats. Everyone who has seen the seats and doors has said they look great, and stock. Buying a Maserati can be scary, so let me put some of those fears to rest for you. I know Maserati cars. I own one that I do track days in and drive on sunny days. I am also a Maserati Club member. I have owned hundreds over the years. I bought one of the first Coupes in the US back in 2002. I know the idiosyncrasies of these cars and what to look for. This car is a great driver. CLUTCH, has been replaced 100 miles ago. It has a full service completed by us including new iridium plugs, air filter, oil filter and topped off with AMSOIL. While we were at it we replaced the pesky rear water hoses that are prone to leaking, flushed the radiator and replaced the steering fluid. The ac was topped off and blows very strong. The car does have the classic consistent Maserati flaws. Buttons are sticky. I ordered new ventilation vents and these are brand new. These are expensive for what they are. I also replaced the worn shift boot with an alcantara and installed a MOMO Corse shift knob. All gears shift perfect with no synchro noise or pilot bearing noise. The car has the desired SKYHOOK suspension. The top works properly and the stretch cables are good. Top goes up and down with no binding. There are no check engine lights etc. Everything works and has no issues. Car runs strong and I have touched 120 mph in it with confidence. The brakes are good and the rotors are not warped. The car has been professionally lowered to Gransport specs. This car has a fantastic Italian growl with custom exhaust. It is not super loud, it is a what most owners do by deleting the rear resonators. Plugs, (iridium) filter and oil have been serviced. This is an honest good Maserati.
