I have 1972 Benz 250C. It as original as it can get. Body has no rust. Paint in decent condition for the age. Interior is in very good condition I just got the carbs serviced and rebuilt and it idle and runs excellent. Installed new disc and pads. This car is very solid. everything WORKS INCLUDING THE ELECTRIC SUNROOF. I hate to let this go but to keep peace in the household I have to give up one of my collection. This is a classic luxury automobile, with an average of just 7,512 miles annually. My wife and I are the third owners, and have driven this car with delight for the past six-plus years. No accidents. No pets. No smokers. Lots of luxury gizmos, including heated leather seats, a Bose sound system, and rain-activated windshield wipers. The car is powered by a 3.2-L, V-6 engine, with a 5-speed automatic transmission. We get about 18 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and around 27 mpg on the highway. Remaining tire life is about one-half. The A/C is cold. Only two other cars like this were found for sale within 500 miles of us, one for $5,950, the other for $6,499 - or, an average of $6,225. Estimates to put our car back in tip-top shape and ready for another 100,000 miles include front brake pads ($367), right-front wheel bearing ($316), right-side outer tie rod ($253), and main seal replacement ($760). A few bits of rust can be found at several points on the exterior, with some fading of the clear coat on the rear bumper. (An optional specialty paint job averages $1,316.) The dash has a few small cracks. The headliner appears weathered ($221). A turning point in our decision to sell or keep this car occurred just last week, when the battery/alternator warning light came on as the power steering got stiff – something that various Mercedes forums attribute to a failed ABS wheel sensor ($300). All tolled, we could spend around $3,533 to fully repair and recondition this Mercedes – which is too much for a retired couple to invest in what is now a third-and-spare car. Hence, the decision to let her go. Take the aforementioned $6,225, deduct all $3,533 for refurbishing, and the balance is $2,692. That’s all we’re asking for this classic car, as is. The 350SD was the diesel version of Mercedes flagship S-Class line. The 350SD was the shorter, more nimble version of the highest selling S-class version in Mercedes history. It has the 3.4L diesel engine which allowed an unbelievable 19/23 mpg for an almost 2 ton car. The car is able to get almost 550 miles on a tank of fuel. The 350SD was only sold in 1991, the last year of production for this popular body style, and there were 2066 of these produced. This car is a rare blackberry exterior with grey interior. The car has had a mild restoration as it was meant to be a car for my son for college. I wanted a very reliable, heavy car that would protect him but still give him good mileage. He ended up moving to a college that made it more efficient not to have a car. The car is not used and I am getting too old to maintain so many cars, so it is being sold. It has new factory floor mats less than a year old, tires with less than 6000 miles on them, and steady maintenance using Mercedes parts. The evaporators go out after about 15 years and are almost $3000 to replace at the dealer because of the high amount of labor involved. This car has had both evaporator and heater core replaced. My other Mercedes cars seem too soft. The evaporator, transmission and repaint are almost $9000 just between them. The turbocharger, radiator, compressor, injectors and a few more parts are also parts that are expensive maintenance items. My goal was just to be sure the care was mechanically sound and looked good for my son to use. These are older cars and it is important to buy one with no issues and the expensive maintenance taken care of. I am selling the car because I am getting too old to take care of so many cars and this car is not being used. It is a very nice example that has had some of the most expensive maintenance already completed. I have got more than $15,000 into this car and would like to get back as much as I can. One of those situations where you put in more than it is worth, but it is a good car. I am open to offers to get down to a more reasonable number of cars. I am actually the 3rd owner of the car.
