1983 Mercedes-Benz 230GE Gelandewagen Short Wheel Base (SWB) Few vehicles are as distinctive and unique as the W460 chassis Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Although there are other vehicles that are instantly recognizable - the Gullwing Mercedes, the '57 Chevy, and the DeLorean to name a few - there is no other vehicle so classy, yet so capable as Gelandewagen Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen, "cross country vehicle"), is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. In certain markets, it has been sold under the Puch name as Puch G. The G-wagen is characterized by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature. Despite the introduction of an intended replacement, the unibody SUV Mercedes-Benz GL-Class in 2006, the G-Class is still in production and is one of the longest produced Mercedes-Benz in Daimler's history, with a span of 35 years. Only the Unimog surpasses it. The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the Shah of Iran (at the time a significant Mercedes shareholder) to Mercedes and offered as a civilian version in 1979. It features 2.3 4-Cylinder Gasoline engine combined with highly desirable 4-speed manual transmission! With this drivetrain combination you can zip down the highway with ease toward your desired destination – classy night out, or a dirty and fun-filled day off road!!!! 2.3 gasoline engine is much more powerful and civil than its diesel siblings of that era. This Beautiful Benz was parked about 5-6 years ago, as its owner started going through some health issues. Unfortunately life happened, and this Benz just continued to sit for few years without being touched or driven. Before it was parked Gentleman used it as his daily driver for few years. Right now, engine does start, and the G-Wagen can be driven around, but its cold-natured, and it needs to be warmed up first. With fresh tune-up, some Tender Loving Care and general checkup this G-Wagen should be hitting trails in no time!!! Manual Transmission goes through every gear with ease! Although there are other vehicles that are instantly recognizable - the Gullwing Mercedes, the '57 Chevy, and the DeLorean to name a few - there is no other vehicle so classy, yet so capable as Gelandewagen Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen, "cross country vehicle"), is a mid-size four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. In certain markets, it has been sold under the Puch name as Puch G. The G-wagen is characterized by its boxy styling and body-on-frame construction. It uses three fully locking differentials, one of the few vehicles to have such a feature.
