This black-on-black 1991 C4 Corvette ZR-1 is a true American Hot Rod. The C4 was the first Corvette that was an actual high-performance sports car and the ZR-1 introduced in 1990 thru 1995 made it a legitimate 180 m.p.h car that set 7 world Records for speed over various distances. The difference is the LT5 “King of the Hill” all-aluminum 350 c.i.d., 4 overhead cam, 4 valves per cylinder, tuned-port injected engine. This engine was designed by Cosworth and manufactured by Mercury Marine because GM could not manufacture the exotic aluminum castings. Stock it is a 380 HP engine and with the mods on this car it’s easily over 400. It will rev freely and rapidly to 7,000 rpm as you stir the 6-speed gearbox and make glorious noise. If you are unfamiliar with this car, there are plenty of descriptions/discussions on line, i.e. Wikipedia. The list of standard equipment on this car is as long as your arm, but what is special about this car (aside from the fact that it is in very good shape for a 23-year-old Corvette classic with 78,800 miles on the clock) are the top-quality equipment upgrades: Long-tube SS headers 3” diameter SS dual exhausts w/resonators Wilwood brakes Drilled and slotted rotors Bilstein coil-over shocks Performance Control Module (what is often mis-called a “performance chip”) I have the stock module as well. Billet flywheel Samco hoses K&N intake Pioneer Avic-110BT audio/nav system w/bluetooth, backup camera, navigation and some chick that talks to you Audison LRX5.1K amp Focal front speakers and a 10” JL Audio W7 Subwoofer Clifford alarm (that I haven’t figured out yet) A mystery built-in Radar/laser warning (and according to the previous owner, jamming) system Documented work done in the past year: New clutch ($2,200) New sensors on the motor that were triggering the check engine light, new gaskets ($1,151) New fuel pump and injectors ($1,000) 4 new Sumitomo summer tires ($920) Note: The above work/improvements were done by the previous owner. Documentation/visual inspection verifies everything but the flywheel. Since I purchased the car in October last year, I’ve had the following documented work done to the tune of $2,000+: New upper ball joints and lower rt. ball joint. New SPC adjustable tubular control arms. New front-wheel spacers and 4-wheel alignment and wheel balance Cooling system flushed and filled. All fluids changed Thursday (full-synthetic motor oil, correct GM Transmission oil) New battery A complete set of New GM Service Manuals $1,000+ worth of replacement parts, plus cover and manuals, my anal self wanted to replace. This car is now in great shape, goes like hell, corners on a rail, is LOUD, and has a killer sound system beautifully built into the car and covered in OEM carpet. Is it perfect? No, but we can discuss it’s few minor needs. These were selling new in 1991 for $70,000+. NADA “Average Retail” for a stock version of this car is $23,400. This is not a stock car and it is above average. If you do the math with the upgrades above (I don’t have exact figures for all of it but I know the Wilwood’s cost about $500 a wheel, the Pioneer unit alone $1,500, and custom exhaust, amp, speakers, “chip,” Bilsteins, etc. ?$$$) and there’s over $7,000 worth of documented work/parts in the past year. So my $17,500 asking price is in the “steal” category. A few necessary disclosures: This preevious 2-owner car had no history of accidents. I had a semi clip the right front-end from behind with a tire. Minor damage completely repaired, netting new paint on front and hood. See photo. Previous owner had removed the spare and installed giant air horns. I felt the security of a spare more important than terrifying old ladies in Priuses. Installed spare, jack, horns, etc. Now horns don't honk when you press the button. They do work with the alarm system. I need to trace the wire from the back to see where it was rerouted and have not done this. I think the modifications have rendered the tire pressure warning system unworkable. Power door locks overridden by security system (I think). The Bilsteins negated the adjustable ride control. Bonus Features: A new (test-fit only) Covercraft Weathershield HP car cover and an AMT 1/25th scale model, unbuilt, complete, original box (this has got to be the dealmaker, eh?) Cash, wire transfer, Cashier’s Check (must be verified by my bank before release of vehicle) or personal check (must clear before I release the vehicle) in that order of desirability. Sold as is. No warranties. I'm also listing this locally and reserve the right to pull this listing if sold locally. Note: One vehicle history report incorrectly showed 7 owners, misidentifying re-registrations in different states as new owners. Previous owner (actually the brother of the owner who was killed in an accident) swore and mostly demonstrated it was a 2-owner machine when I bought it.
