I came into possession of this car through my grandparents, the first owners, who used it as a second car and later the primary car for getting around town. While I am technically the third owner, as it was briefly titled to my father before he transferred it to me, I'm the only one who has driven it since my grandfather. It was kept in a garage until I took possession of it in 2002, at which point it was parked outdoors on Chicago neighborhood streets. It has been back in a garage now since 2008. I have never needed the car to commute, so I only occasionally used it for errands or weekend excursions, hence the low mileage. The car is in good shape for its age. It starts on the first try and runs fine. The interior has seen very little wear, and still looks very nice. Since I've had the car I've had the brakes and transmission serviced, put on new tires and replaced the starter, all within the last 3200 miles (see the details below). It probably could use a good overall service and lube because I have rarely driven it more than a few miles in the last few years and it has sat for months at a time. It has some minor rust spots from its time outdoors, as well as dings and scratches in the fenders from city parallel parking. The hood, roof and trunk lid all have some scratches in the finish. I suspect it also needs work done on the muffler and/or exhaust line, because the engine is a bit loud and visually the muffler looks worn. The radio will not power on even though the fuses look okay - I think it's an electrical issue not uncommon to this model but it's never been worth it to me to address it. The antenna was broken off at some point. The car was also apparently in an accident in 2000, prior to when I took possession. Any damage was either negligible or it was repaired, as I haven't ever noticed any damage. I do not have any records regarding the accident. It needs a lot of small repairs, and would be a great car for someone interested in a fixer-upper with no serious mechanical issues. Selling because we can't make the repairs to plate the car in Virginia (it won't pass inspection in its present state). The car has been driven a lot, and has been parked street side, so it has problems related to outdoor parking and exposure to the weather - the door seals are bad, and rear window gasket is coming off. The headliner is toast, and is tacked up. There's pine tree sap drips all over the hood, and a very minor dent in the cab roof. The motors to adjust the seats have given out, so they can't be moved. The driver's seat has a split in the fabric, exposing a bit of the metal frame. There is antifreeze spilled on the passenger side rear floor, so the carpet would need to be carefully cleaned or replaced. There is a loose connection or short (probably a loose connection) which causes a fuse to blow within a day or so of its being replaced. This circuit controls the automatic door locks, radio, antenna, interior cab light, horn, and cigarette lighters. The antenna motor has been disconnected (a repair person's theory on how to solve the electrical issue - it did not work. It can be easily reattached). The flywheel is warped or slightly loose - a couple hundred dollar repair (or perhaps less, if you do it yourself) to prevent it from one day breaking and destroying the engine. Steering column is loose (but not completely broken - still drivable). The air conditioning system does not work - it's outdated, and freon is no longer available for it, so it would need to be replaced to have AC. The heater core and fan were recently replaced, although the fan was a bit jerry-rigged. They work. Some hub caps are missing, but the hubcap removal tool is still in the car for the ones that aren't. A slow leak in the rear passenger side tire was abated using fix-a-flat recently. The oil pressure gauge somewhat amusingly spins like a top when the vehicle is on, and does not work - but oil pressure has been fine. The gas gauge is a bit inaccurate, but consistent. Cup holder is broken. Dashboard ash tray hinge is broken - it's fine if you keep it closed, but will fall off if you open it. The passenger side mirror is broken. Cruise control may require some sort of adjustment - car tends to lose speed on upward slopes when it is engaged. We haven't checked the brake pads recently, but the brakes work fine. No fluid leaks we have noticed (but it has been outside). Oil, antifreeze, brake, and power steering fluid levels show no signs that the car leaks. Exterior lights and dashboard illumination all work fine, so no issues with night driving. She just needs some TLC to get her back into shape. I've listed every single thing I have found that needs repair. After all of that, the good stuff: This car is incredibly reliable. So much so, if we had a garage to store it in, we would be keeping and fixing it ourselves. If you check the ratings on this make and model, you'll see that it has great reviews. The trunk is huge.
