Details are below VIDEO & Photos 71 Ram Air “SX 455” convertible How RARE is the 1971 SX/455 convertible ? 1 of only 357 built …. that is very rare indeed! And this may be the finest 1971 “SX” 455 convertible in existence. Of the 357 built, how many would check off the value points below? Important “value points” - VERY rare when built & now super rare 44 years later - Vin “Numbers Matching” original 455 engine - Entire driveline is original and now FRESH - High option car with EVERY base 442 option & more - Documented with Fisher Body “broadcast card” - Owner history is known (only 2 owners from NEW) - Texas car from new (dry southern car) - Good car PRIOR to restoration, original body panels - Original colors (…. rare color combination) - Original OEM Ram Air hood added but NOT a repo - Restored to like new condition - Motor rebuilt to 1970 specs …. it has real power - Freezing COLD air conditioning - Less than 500 miles since restoration…. NO wear - Outstanding driving experience - Eye-popping beautiful. Needs nothing for immediate on demand enjoyment … it is FUN ! What exactly is an “SX” Think of it as a 442 in a “dinner jacket”. That’s right, it has every base 442 option including the 455 big block that in the 1971 production year was built to the same specs as the 442. In 1971, the difference between the SX and the 442 is simply in the “presentation”. Basically it’s a “stripe & badge delete” 442 that was conceived and built for a very specific, well heeled target market. The target market for the SX was bankers, lawyers, doctors and corporate types who could afford a top of the line luxury “high performance” car but did not necessarily want all the “showmanship” that came with stripes, spoilers and emblems. It was kind of a factory “sleeper”. The ONLY outward sign that this was something special was the SX emblem on the fenders and of course the signature 442 rear bumper and trumpet exhaust. Options, Options & more Options This particular SX convertible is a LOADED luxury muscle car with every standard 442 option PLUS many options above & beyond the 442 package. 442 performance package options - 4bbl / 455 - Turbo 400 automatic transmission - Special Suspension - Dual Exhaust - Sport Mirrors - Special Bumper with cutouts for Trumpet exhaust tips Options beyond base 442 package: - Air Conditioning ..... COLD (updated to modern R34) - Power Top / Power Steering / Power DISC brakes - Rally Pack Gauges / Tachometer / electric Clock - Ram Air Induction Hood with special Air Cleaner - Bucket seat / floor sifter Console - AmFm STEREO Radio (NOTE – only working intermittently) - Rally Steering Wheel - Tilt Steering Column - Electric Trunk Release button in glove box - Rally II Wheels - Special Interior under dash remote Hood Lock - Optional heavy rubber trunk mat - etc, etc Mondello Performance Estimated at 365hp with 500 ft lbs of torque 442 folks will instantly recognize Dr. Olds and Mondello Performance as the “go to source” for the Olds 455 power plant. When rebuilding the original motor in this car the goal was to achieve a power output that was more in line with 1970 specs. The motor was bored .030 over and a Mondello camshaft, special lifters and Flow Master exhaust were selected based on “direct consultation” with Mondello Performance. Additionally, a very mid stall was added in the turbo 400 tranny rebuild. The end result is that “smooth” on demand power and torque that made the 442 and its 455 power plant legendary. Ultimate road trip car It has a TALL 2.73 highway gear that allows for low rev highway driving …. this car is the ultimate road trip car. NO high revs at highway speeds, NO annoying aggressive lope, NO overheating and NO bad habits of any kind. Just boat loads of civilized long legged power from the Olds 455 torque monster. Great History 2 Texas owners since new Sold new at Medor Olds in Fort Worth Texas to its first owner, James Ward who, prior to his death, sold it to the 2nd owner and a personal friend of mine, Mike Wisdom. Mike purchased the car approximately 16 years ago. This same friend (Mike Wisdom) and fellow Texan does high quality car restoration work and has done some work for me over the years. The original owner loved this car and after logging 130k miles he parked it some time in late 1992, early 1993 (…. see the last Texas Inspection Sticker in photos above dated 5/29/92). After retiring the car, Mr. Ward held on to it with dreams of restoring it to its former glory. In the late ‘90’s he ended up taking to my friend for a full restoration but, due to failing health, ultimately ended up selling his dream machine to my friend. Restored by 2nd owner Mike Wisdom rebuilt virtually everything on the car. His goal was two fold. To bring the car back to show room new condition and to boost the performance to be more in line with the 1970 442. The restoration was completed about 1 year ago and has less than 500 miles since completion (most of these 500 miles have been logged by me). It shows no evidence of wear and looks show room new. While the original miles on the car are just over 131k, I have listed it at 500 miles which is the miles on the car since a total restoration. In any event the car will be sold as mileage EXEMPT due to its age. NOTE: The top currently on the car is serviceable, however it does not present as nice as the rest of the car so it is currently scheduled to be REPLACED along with a new windshield as the current windshield has one rock chip. The top on the car is white and will be replaced with a white top. These items are scheduled and will be done prior to shipping the car to the new owner. Good condition PRIOR to restoration Prior to restoration the car was in good condition (never wrecked, no rust issues and completely unaltered). It had been in a dry Texas climate since new and driven by one adult owner who cherished the car. However, after 130k miles and 21 years of service, it was tired and in need of some love. I saw this car many times BEFORE it was restored. In fact, on numerous occasions I tried to purchase it in its un-restored state from my friend. His answer was always …. “No, I am going to restore this one for myself”. That day finally came and the results are most impressive. Lucky for me, Mike’s focus is now turned to his next restoration project and I ended up with the car. This history is now documented for the lucky new owner in the above VIDEO. A copy of the video and these photos along with the Broadcast Card and old inspection sticker will go with the car. PRICE Like all my cars, I have priced this car very fair for what it is. I do NOT have to sell this car. This is a very special car in every way that actually matters. I believe it would be impossible to duplicate at this price. If you were lucky enough to find a high quality survivor 1971 SX convertible with these options and paid a restoration shop to bring it to this level, the restoration cost alone would easily exceed the price I am selling it for. My passion is finding the real treasures and enjoying them for a short time, making a video to bring interest to the hobby and knowledge surrounding the unique attributes of these very special cars, and offering them to the market place at realistic, fair prices (usually below their true potential value). Arranging for an independent third-party inspection is a great way to validate a seller's claims about a vehicle's condition. There are many companies and individuals who offer such a service. These services are listed on the internet and can be found in most collector car magazine publications. Of course your personal inspection and scrutiny are suggested and most welcomed. Any and all inspections must occur PRIOR to the end of this eBay listing. The seller has made a diligent effort to accurately describe any known material defects associated with this vehicle. If you\'re an Oldsmobile fan, what would your ultimate Olds look like? How about a stunning 1971 442 wearing bright yellow paint from a Rallye 350 and packing a thundering 455 cubic inch big block. Of course, a few mods like 4-wheel disc brakes, a Hurst dual-gate shifter, and a little more horsepower never hurt, and the result is a brutal 442 tribute that looks and drives like you\'ve always imagined. The riveting yellow paint isn\'t for everyone, but if you\'re an Olds fan, you\'ll recognize it right away. Between the stripes, the twin-nostril W25 ram air hood, the wing, and the dual trumpets in the rear bumper, this 1971 Olds has every visual trick Oldsmobile used to get buyers into the showrooms. And they all work quite well to make one of the most eyeball-grabbing pieces of muscle we\'ve ever offered. The work is extremely well done by a guy who knows Oldsmobiles inside and out so it looks the way the factory might have built it back in \'71. Admittedly, it\'s not subtle so don\'t expect to keep a low profile, but if it\'s attention you crave, this car will do it better than most. The paint and bodywork are quite good and the paint has been protected with PermaFinish, so it\'s extremely low maintenance. Other goodies include LD taillights, brand new red W-30 inner fenders, and hood pins to give it a dominating look in the other guy\'s rear-view mirror. An equally large sum of money was lavished on the interior of this Olds, and gives the black buckets an almost-new look. It\'s quite correct and a nice contrast to the arrest-me-yellow bodywork, but there\'s no question you\'re sitting inside a performance car. The optional Rally Pack gauges include a Tick-Tock-Tach in addition to the standard stainless-faced dials, all set into a handsome woodgrained dashboard and assisted by a set of auxiliary gauges under the dash. A 4-spoke steering wheel looks properly sporty and a Hurst dual-gate shifter manages the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, the only automatic gearbox stout enough to handle Oldsmobile\'s biggest big block. Even the vintage-looking AM/FM/cassette radio is new and powers fresh speakers throughout the interior. The trunk is outfitted with a reproduction mat as well as a custom cover for the full-sized spare. The reason you build a 442 tribute like this is horsepower, and lots of it. The 455 cubic inch Oldsmobile V8 packs a tremendous punch thanks to modifications like a performance cam, Holley Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor on an Edelbrock intake, and long-tube headers, just in case you were feeling light on torque. Those red inner fenders make for a dramatic presentation and it\'s dressed up with lots of chrome for impact. MSD supplied the ignition system and the twin Magnaflow mufflers end in stainless trumpets under the rear bumper. Front and rear sway bars, 4-wheel disc brakes, and a trick aluminum cover for the W27 10-bolt rear end mean that this Olds is built for fun, not static display. Color-coordinated Super Stock II wheels always look best on an Oldsmobile and wear new BFG radials all around. The comprehensive restoration has left this 442 as far more than the sum of its parts. A lot of spares and original components come with the car, too, so if it\'s more radical than you\'d prefer, you can take it back a notch. But who would do that when this car is so much fun as it sits? Call today! This vehicle is located in our Atlanta showroom. For more information, please call (678) 279-1609 or toll free (877) 367-1835. Ad provided by OldCarOnline.com/cond>

1970 Oldsmobile CutlassW30 442 recreation455, Turbo 400, 12 bolt 3.73s, F heads I am selling my 1970 Olds Cutlass "W30 442" clone. This car is a blast to drive and you can't duplicate it for the asking price. This car has a straight body with nice paint. No it is not a Barrett Jackson/Mecum car but it is a nice driver that gets looks everywhere it goes. The paint does have some chips/scratches from daily driving. The gaps all look good except the driver side corner of the hood needs to be adjusted. The floors, Frame and trunk are all real solid. The bumpers and 442 grilles are all new and in nice shape. The hood is an aftermarket fiberglass reproduction. The interior is in nice shape. The door panels, Rear seat and headliner are all real clean. The front seat is nice but has been dyed and does not quite match the rest of the pearl interior. The dash is clean and not butchered up. The best part of this car is the drivetrain. I was told by the previous owner that the drivetrain has about 8k miles on it. The engine is a 71 455 with 1970 "F" heads. The motor has a nice cam, Headers, Aluminum intake and Holley carb. It makes great horsepower and torque. I never raced it but I am sure it is capable of low 13s to high 12s with traction. This one will burn the BFG radials as long as you hold the pedal down. There is a slight header leak from the passenger header. The transmission is a built turbo 400 with a shift kit, Trans cooler and a 2200 rpm convertor. The rear is a 12 bolt posi with 3.73 gears and Southside lift bars and factory sway bar. The suspension was gone through a few years ago and feels very tight. The car has power disc brakes in front and they work well. The exhasut is a Flowmaster 3 inch from front to back and it sounds great. The tires are BFG radials and have good tread. The car does have an electric fuel pump and electric fan. The wipers don't work and the heater core is bypassed, I got it this way. I do have a new weatherstrip kit for it. I bougth the car last December and have put about 800 miles on it over the summer. It gets looks everywhere it goes. I recently bought a nice 1970 W31 Cutlass with low miles so this one has to go. Please feel free to email or call 610-442-2503 with any questions. Thanks for looking. I do have a video of the car idiling but Ebay won't let me add it in. Please email me and I can give you the link. If the BUY IT NOW is used I will include a brand new reproduction ram air cleaner that costs $650 with shipping

My name is Chris Martin I am the owner of the car. You can call me any time at home 972 617 0354 or my cell 469 441 1891 if you have any questions are want to know more about the car please call me. The car will be sold only on ebay. The buy it now price is $29,995.00 or you can make a offer. I bought this 1969 cutlass S (not a 442 or a true ho455 it is a clone) from the original owner. They bought the car brand new on June 30, 1969 from Hensley motor company in Hot Springs, Arkansas. I have a copy of the original title that they received from the State of Arkansas when they bought the car new and the envelope that the title came in the mail from the State of Arkansas when they bought it. They come with the car. They paid $4,271.04 for the car when it was new. I had to turn in the original Arkansas title to the State of Texas when I changed the title into my name. I have a clear Texas Title in my name. The car still had the original white paint and gold pin strip on the hood. It came new with bucket seats and the floor console. It ran and drove great. It has less than 111,000 miles on it. It had a 350 engine in it and I bought a 455 olds engine and had it rebuilt. I bought the Cutlass S to have it restored into a 69 HO455 clone. I wanted it to be restored as close as it could be to a real HO455 for myself to drive around in and drive it to local shows. It has been restore to be a car that you can drive around in. It is not a show car to be towed on a trailer. It look like a show car to most people. I'm 68 years old and due to my health I must sell all of my cars. I would not sell them if I could drive them. I want some one that will buy it and drive it and let other people see it. It was just finished in April of this year (2014). I had the car restored frame off by a shop that restores HO455, 442, and Cutlass. The body was removed from the frame to restore the body of the car on a rotisserie. All the parts on the frame were removed. The frame and all of the parts were sand blasted and painted satin black. I have listed most of the work and parts that were done on it. The car is all steel. I am only relisting MY car as a help to those that may be looking at the "other" lime green 442 convertible listed on ebay currently. The so called dealer representing it has used all of my information in their ad. After this was brought to my attention (by those who know this car) and after 2 weeks of discussions with ebay I am forced to put my ad up to prove that their decription is indeed false. I will let the viewing audience be the judge of what accolades go with what car. THEIR car has not been judged by the venues mine has, it was not born in Nashville TN , I know the original owner and have pictures of he and I standing with this car.A close look at THEIR car will tell a knowledgable car guy what he is looking at right away with regard to the quality of the restoration. Ebay has been absolutely no help and if you were to inquire about the "OTHER" car listed...the voicemail if full, how convenient. Its really too bad when one has to repeatedly state their case, send proof, pictures and it goes absolutely no where. Secondly, I'd like to say that I have been on ebay for well over 10 years and have taken pride to retain a 100% feedback rating. When it comes to advertising a car, I take great time and pride to explain or depict a cars condition through pictures. I never understood how one can think of selling or buying a car without the proper presentation. I also do this as I am a collector myself and like you I ask a ton of questions whether the car be worth $1000 or $100,000. If one were to just take the time to show the car in its entirety then a lot of questions would be answered with that alone. with that being said, I encourage you to take the time to let the 200+ pictures of this beautifully restored 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible upload. HISTORY This car was a demonstrator for awhile at Hippodrome Olds in Nashville TN. It was purchased In September of 1971 by Lloyd Esmon. He had been looking for one and a few days after visiting the dealership his salesman had called to say they had one to sell. Don Deathridge sold the car to him for $4448.59 after fees and discount. (This is one of 1096 convertibles made this year). Lloyd drove the car until the late 70's and took good car of it and recorded all of its oil- gas fill ups along with the gallons used and the price of gas at the time. I have those little record books. He then sold it to a cousin in Il. Vern in IL had the car painted once in the 80's in a shade of green not quite like the lime green should have been. Later Lloyds son Dwight purchased the car and it moved to FL. It had been cared for there until about 2005 and it was then that it went up for sale for the first time out of the family. I purchased it from the 4th owner and he had made some motor improvements but always keeping the original parts and original motor-trans intact. MY OWNERSHIPI have owned the car since 2008. It was a car show, cruise night car for us. It was then in late 2011 I decided to go all in and give it a proper restoration. I am a stickler for quality and correctness and almost all the work was done by myself. It received a full frame off restoration spanning 11 months and nearly 800 hours. (keep in mind this was a rust free car). RESTORATION During the restoration, I bag and tag everything. The factory grabbed nuts and bolts at random and this car retains all of them. I also write down where they all go as the order they were installed. Several fastener companies were used and I made sure I left all the different marked bolt heads as they were and they all were restored or replated in their correct finishes. As parts were taken off I documented the various inspection marks and colorings on different parts. All cars were different and humans made those marks. Every car I restore turns out a little different because of this. Remember there were many different plants and shifts of people doing the build process so not all had the same marks. The car was spared of no expense and detail. when working on such a pristine car and have no rust pits to fix, the end result is stunning. The frame is pit free, as is suspension components. The floors still have the runs and body caulk that was applied originally. On a car this nice I am able to keep all those things that are only correct one time in its life. The car is arrow straight, the paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I did add the hood though. I found years ago a hood that had been a take off of a 1971 cutlass in 1979. It was the most pristine original paint hood I have ever seen and I saved it for this car. Original perfect hoods are second to none and this one I carefully restored to be as close to authentic when I restored it. There were no stress cracks anywhere and I left all the areas white that you can see from the bottom white. These top skins were white and then bonded to the painted black bottoms. I duplicated the dates and inspection marks along with the proper assembly line overspray technique. A close look at the photos show that no part or fastener was left alone. DRIVETRAIN The block, trans and rear (now a 3:42 posi) are original to the car. Prior to me owning it, the 4th owner decided to spruce it up a bit. The car runs so incredible and quick, I made a tough decision to leave all that hard work and $$$ alone. While stock appearing the car is using a set of edelbrock heads, intake and carb. It has a bunch of mondello receipts to back it up. It idles healthy, starts right up and it has enough vacuum for power brakes. It is not radical at all but definitely healthier than a normal '71 455. I do have the original heads and intake but the carb is gone.Transmission was gone through, resealed and factory markings were re applied as they were found. OPTIONS Car was not ordered with many options. On the window sticker it shows, auto transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, a/c, tinted window, am radio, door guards, deluxe belts with rear retainers front mats and the light group. The car has all of the 5 original SS3 wheels. Car also has a seldom seen front air deflector re-inforcement. It can be seen in the photos and is rumored to be only on 71 4 speed cars. I have spoke with the past owners and even Lloyd had said "why would I add that as I don't even know what it is?" A NOS heater control valve was used as it is a 1971 only style with the vacuum diaphragm on it, and although it is not an option it was added to make the car even more correct. The am radio was replaced with a rebuilt am fm unit with modern internals and a Sirius radio located in the ash tray area if one decided to start using the car as intended. INTERIOR All the interior was in good shape but with the level I was going for with this car I turned to Legendary for it all. I kept all the original covers and door panels. I was able to keep the original carpet. Nothing fits better than the original and it also proves how the car was cared for. Some pictures show how nice the floors are with all the lime green paint on them and again I left them as is because there was no restoration needed to cover anything. BODY As stated before all the sheetmetal is original to the car and I added a few pictures of the bare floor areas to show indeed how nice they are. The trunk and floor pans did not have as much as a pin hole. Be confident knowing that this is not one of those cars that needed wheel tubs, quarters, donor doors and fenders and a full trunk pan. Actually one lower fender needed a patch about the size of a half dollar. GLASSEvery piece of glass is original. The windshield has a couple small chips but to me I'd rather say that it has never been out. BUMPERS Show chrome and replated bumper guards with new rub strips. All hardware, rear light housing guards, front marker lights and wiring was plated and cleaned to perfection. TOP New top, pad and well liner. Legendary boot goes with and the top has yet to be down due to the car's show circuit condition. Top will move up and down as it should if one decides to do so. TRIM All trim is original and has been polished to a high standard. Some original screws had to be sourced due to age but the proper clear plastic washers were used when necessary like the originals. TRUNK During the restoration I had found a way to duplicate as close as possible the way the original spatter was applied. It was originally done quickly with mediocre coverage at best and each car was different. each plant seemed to have either a different layout texture, color or pattern. Assembly line guys I've talked to over the years said that there were different vendors for these paints and they just used whatever they had. All lansing cars I have found have this style of big spot patterning and is an often missed step in a nice restoration. PAPERWORK Lloyd kept good records. The car has the auto log books as previously mentioned. It has its original window sticker and dealer copy of that sticker. It has 2 buyers invoice bill of sales, 1 typed and 1 hand written. 2 broadcast sheets and one production code sheet along with various cancelled check receipts to the dealer. No lansing build cars ever got a big build sheet, that is why other supporting documents are so important to have. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless .It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. Later that fall it scored a gold award (992-1000) at MCACN (musclecar and corvette nationals). In august 2014 it entered it's first AACA (antique auto club of America) and took a 1st junior award. Out of all the oldsmobile winners in 2014 It was selected for the prestigious REO OLDS award (only one olds or gmc is awarded this each year). I flew to the AACA annual meet this past February to accept the award and it was quite the honor for the car and myself. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further.THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with to help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. The car is arrow straight and was blocked out more times than I can recall. The Sherwin Williams base/clear paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I used photos I take from original paint cars to document the proper side pinstripes and I was also able to measure off of the original stripes I un-earthed while stripping the body to bare metal. I did add the ram air hood though. I found years ago a hood that had been a take off of a 1971 cutlass in 1979. It was the most pristine original paint hood I have ever seen and I saved it for this car. I still have a set of reproduction kick panels with the speakers built in if one would choose to used the radio. The A/C system was blowing ice cold prior to the restoration and was converted correctly to 134. It has not been charged since the car has not seen much road use. Rally pac and gauges were added by previous owner. INTERIOR All the interior was in good shape but with the level I was going for with this car I turned to Legendary for it all. No lansing build cars ever got a big build sheet, that is why other supporting documents are so important to have. I see soo many cars advertised or at big auctions that have had options added or sit there with not an ounce of paperwork. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car he once owned. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless . It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further. I was recently asked if I wanted to show it in the Milwaukee masterpiece (a concours event this august) THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with and help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. It boggles my mind to see cars sold and the new owner may not know the seller or know anything about the car at all. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. I am in Milwaukee, located about 90 miles north of downtown Chicago and 30 miles from the IL border. I encourage any questions or inspections to be done prior to the auctions end. By now I would hope that one would get a good feel for the car and after looking at over 200 pictures that one can see I'm trying to be straight forward about the car. Thanks for viewing. Jason 414-688-060four SALE TERMS AND CONDITIONS Please let the 200+ photos of this incredibly gorgeous 442 make you comfortable with a purchase. However, don’t hesitate to call me with a specific question. Please remember that your bid is a COMMITMENT TO BUY this car. I cannot stress enough that I am asking bidders to follow through on their commitment if you bid. A $500 non-refundable deposit and communication from the high bidder is due within 3 days of the auction's end. The deposit can be paid via Paypal or cash, and I will eat any Paypal fees. The balance is due in full within 7 days of the auction's end, paid via cashier's check (must be verified), wire transfer, or cash in person. Because of its age and mileage, this vehicle is sold strictly as-is-as shown, with no warranties expressed or implied. If you haven't owned a classic car, please remember that this isn't a 2015 Honda Civic. Older cars, even those with low miles, require an increased level of maintenance and attention. When you place a bid on a vehicle, you are entering into a legal and binding contract to purchase the vehicle. This arrangement is outlined in the eBay User Agreement. We also reserve the right to cancel bids at our discretion. We will not be liable for any cancellation of this auction for any reason. We reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with negative feedback or a bid retraction history and members with zero (0) feedback need to contact us for approval to bid. As with all bids, bidders need to be 18 years or older. As stated above, shipping charges are buyer's responsibility. We will assist a buyer with shipping the car anywhere in the United States or Canada from zip code 53154, but will not be responsible in any way for claims arising from shipping damage. THIS IS A CANADIAN CAR and actual MILEAGE IN KM is 76,420 THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE T-TOP or MOONROOF Thank you for your interest below is a bit of background on these fabulous cars A great opportunity to own a real Hurst/Olds. The mid-Eighties were strange times for performance car fans. The glory days of the muscle car era were only about 15 years earlier, but when they ended, an entirely new mentality overtook the public consciousness. A little more than a decade later, the good old days might well have been ancient history, as cars changed profoundly and fundamentally. Front-wheel drive, fuel injection, and ads that touted miles per gallon rather than miles per hour were the norm in the 1980s. The few models that had performance intents were next-generation cars with McPherson strut suspensions, turbochargers, and dashboards that looked like circuit boards. Then there was the 1983 Hurst/Olds. A model designed to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the original, 1968 model, the “new” Hurst/Olds was really a 15-year-later example of classic Sixties architecture: body-on-frame construction (GM’s venerable G-body), control-arm front suspension, and a V-8 engine driving a live rear axle. There was no space-age styling or monochromatic trim. The Cutlass-based Hurst/Olds was boxy and ringed with chrome. Only 3,001 examples were built (201 sold in Canada), all of them black with a silver lower body and red dividing stripe. Special badges, door graphics, a rear spoiler, and styled steel wheels were part of the striking exterior package. All of the cars came off Olds’ assembly line in Lansing, MI, and then shipped about 45 miles away to secondary manufacturer Cars and Concepts, which changed each Cutlass into a Hurst model. Each carried the order code W-40. T-tops were an $825 option, and a power moonroof was offered, too. Performance-wise, every Hurst/Olds packed a four-barrel-fed, 307-cube engine with 180 horsepower, a Hydra-Matic 200-4R overdrive transmission, and a 3.73 rear axle. Along with its 180 horses was a solid 245 lb-ft of torque. It was a combination good for 16-second quarter-miles and 0-60 sprints of about nine seconds. The performance may not have set the dragstrip on fire, but the Hurst Lightning Rod shifter system gave the car a unique, signature feature that looked wild and worked quite well. Essentially a mechanical version of the electronically controlled, manual-shift automatics used in many cars today, the Lightning Rod shifter enabled the driver to use a separate shifter for each upshift. The shifter has proven very robust over the years, with most owners reporting problems related to the basic 200-4R transmission to which it is connected. However, replacement shifters and parts for them basically don’t exist, so if one breaks, the owner is stuck–figuratively and perhaps, literally.
