Combining coupe-like form with truck-like function, and sold as a low-production 'halo model', this slick Oldsmobile Fiesta is a true all-time all-star. So, how do you make a car that's already as hot as this street rod Olds even more desirable? You completely refinish its body, bolt up some fresh suspension components, throw in a buff big block and line it with a nice combination of classic style and modern convenience. If you like your old school cruiser to be show ready AND fun to drive, but a sedan is just too common and too cramped, this plus-size rocket is your next classic! Despite the exceptional sales of Oldsmobile's premium 88, the brand's higher priced Fiesta proved less popular and, thanks to attrition, has now become even scarcer. Fortunately, this clean resto-mod has always been a solid, complete beast that benefitted from decades of owners who were smart enough to know what they had. When the car's Ionia-produced body fell in to the hands of loving enthusiasts, big money was spent on a thorough, frame-off restoration. And today, this Olds hangs straight, mostly-original sheetmetal under a rich combination of bronze and silver two-stage that's been buffed to a fantastic shine. One thing about classic car guys is their uncanny ability to methodically plot, plan and execute even the minutest details. Whoever restored this highbrow hardtop probably spent months scheduling, budgeting and searching for the exact elements that would bring their vision to life. At the front of the car, a broad yet sinuous bumper hangs prominent "O L D S M O B I L E" lettering between a fine stainless grille, clear parking lamps and chrome-trimmed halogen headlights. At the top of that grille, fresh Oldsmobile hood ornaments ride inside classic rocket fender toppers. At the back of that hood, tinted greenhouse glass is highlighted by well-maintained frames, simple chrome mirrors and opposing stainless wipers. At the base of those mirrors, straight trim spears found modern Cadillac Escalade heat extractors below cursive "Fiesta" fender emblems. Behind those spears, polished and pinstriped profile guards complement traditional front doors, shaved rear doors and monochromatic fender skirts. And at the back of the car, a bronze-detailed bumper reflects expressive tri-bar brake lights and a stainless-trimmed tail gate. This sweet looking cruiser is set in motion by a show-detailed 455 that, thanks to ample torque, provides solid, reliable road trips. Stomp the throttle and a coated Edelbrock carburetor mixes juice from clean, stainless fuel lines with wind from a stylish, two-tone air cleaner, and shoves it into an Edelbrock Torker intake. Behind that intake, a proven MSD distributor feeds fire through beefy MSD Super Conductor plug wires, which are loomed between mirrored valve covers and fully restored exhaust manifolds. In front of those manifolds, traditional V-belts spin a chrome alternator opposite a coated Tuff Stuff AC compressor. And, in front of that compressor, a beefy radiator cycles water past a large electric puller fan. Aesthetically, the car's large, gold block looks fantastic against its metallic bronze paint. The stout mill is miles of fun, wringing massive grunt from one of the largest and most powerful valvetrains ever created. And the entire set up flat out rocks, from its modern power steering to its billet brake reservoir. Throw the car on a lift and you'll find solid floors that, along with a professionally restored chassis, sport a fresh, road-ready appearance. Behind the big block, a 700R4 4-speed spins torque through a fully rebuilt rear end and pleasant 3.42 gears. Holding that well-mannered powertrain in place is a fully-sorted suspension which includes a front sway bar, traditional control arms and correct leaf springs. Easy turns are provided by modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Short, confident stops come courtesy of 4-wheel power disc brakes. At the center of the car, a 2.5 inch, true-dual exhaust system sends spent gases through deep sounding turbo mufflers. And putting the power to the pavement is a nice set of 15-inch wire wheels that spin classy 235/75 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around ornate stainless center caps. Climb inside this razor-sharp Olds and you'll find a thoroughly modified interior that features dramatic style and enough great looking trim to payroll a small upholstery shop. Covered in subdued leather, the car's cushy bench seats feature sturdy lap belts and power front adjustment. Beneath those seats, plush carpet frames mirrored sills and silver-trimmed foot pedals. Opposite that carpet, factory courtesy lamps highlight a tight leather headliner. At the sides of the car, two-tone door panels look great hovering between small chrome handles, convenient power windows and streamlined stainless trim. In front of those panels, a body-matched dash hangs an XM-capable Alpine CD player between a small clock, an old school Autronic Eye and billet accessory knobs. Pop open the long glove box and reveal three auxiliary gauges that monitor oil pressure, water temps, and voltage next to controls for the Vintage Air air conditioning. In front of the driver, a polished tilt steering column spins an aluminum, thick-rim wheel. And behind the passengers, a carpeted cargo area is primed for lawn chairs and picnic supplies. It's no wonder the Oldsmobile 88 enjoys such huge popularity, because it just doesn't get much better than this slick Fiesta resto-mod. Near Complete car, body pretty straight. Only 5,175 were ever produced in this model. The station wagon bodies for these were manufactured through Ionia and its related coachwork companies as early as 1938, starting with woodie station wagons before eventually offering all-steel wagons from the late 1940s through the mid-1960s. My opinion is this is a great investment car! I did some research on auctions over the last 5 years and it looks like prices have doubled with sales on the few that have come up running high even with light restorations and cars into 6 figure prices. What we have here is a car we bought as a driver. At the time (2009) extensive work was performed to get it and keep it on the road. Including attention to all crucial parts: brakes, tires, engine. Since we got the car it has been moved from here to there around our facility. But never stored in open air outside. It has always been covered and under a roof. We decided this car was an excellent car to restore ground up but after 6 years and no progress for this one, its got to go to make room. In the back of the car there are many extra parts including Air conditioning parts which this car is non-air conditioned currently. Extra instrument clusters, trim pieces, hubcaps, etc. The engine has been started recently as of last week. I drove it around the property here and brakes work, transmission shifts, runs cool. The tires have been sitting too long in the florida sunshine for driving it on the road safely. For the specifics it has: 371 ci engine, automatic trans, heater, power brakes and steering. The rockers have been repaired previously with heavy gage metal and does not look stock from underneath. The floor pans will need repaired. Up for sale is a restored Fiesta Red 1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 J2 (tri-carb) convertible. It is an all factory set-up including the air cleaner and all the decals (worth over $500 by itself). It also features period-correct Weiand valve covers (these can sell for over $2000 by themselves as well). The car was certainly well done as you can see by the detailing under the hood. The interior is immaculate and done in the original style. It comes with two brand new spares (six practically new tires total), jack, original owner’s manual, and original keys. The paint and chrome work is better than new and you know what the cost is on restoring chrome on a 50s convertible! Beyond its performance options, this Olds is the quintessential boulevard cruiser! The Classic Car Database suggests only about 7,000 Super 88 convertibles were built in 1957 and that doesn’t take into account the J2 option. The paint is impeccable, looks deeper than new. It was restored around 2010 and has only been driven less than 5000 miles since. The interior is of the finest quality I've seen in restored vehicles, both the seats and the top are tight. It also comes with color-keyed floor mats and the carpet is in very nice condition. The trunk is also carpeted and shows nicely. The ’57 Oldsmobile Super 88 J2 is one of the earliest examples of a collaboration with NASCAR, the tri-deuce was used by Lee Petty in competition (Google "Hemmings" and "outlawed by NASCAR" for a full article from Hemmings Magazine). It's also a very early example of a GM performance model. We've had the Olds for nearly ten years now and enjoyed showing it locally, but my Dad's declining health forces the sale as we need to help him downsize in to assisted living. The Ultra Classic 1956 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible This rare classic convertible is a real beauty and the result of a professional and thorough ground- up, frame- off, five-year restoration. As one of only 9561 produced, every effort has been made to restore it to its brilliant original condition. The car is powered by its 324 cubic in, 240 hp Rocket V-8 with Hydramatic transmission. The Restoration This classic convertible was completely dismantled, bead blasted, painted and reassembled. The body on this car was amazingly solid and straight with no dents. The exceptional condition was probably because it was carefully maintained and has been garaged since the 70’s. The car was primed and painted in original specification red and white. The under carriage was painted chassis black, and the floor pans were undercoated like they were originally. The all new interior and top were done to match the original by John Bush of J & J Upholstery of Covington, VA . All bumpers were rechromed. Several emblems also were replated while others were replaced with new quality reproductions. All window glass and rubber components are new. All mechanical and electrical components of the car are original and reconditioned. The engine with 85,500 original miles was totally rebuilt with a new crankshaft, pistons, rings, valves, etc. The transmission was completely rebuilt by a retired Oldsmobile transmission specialist. The power steering pump, the steering gear box, and generator also were rebuilt. The brake system was overhauled completely with new wheel cylinders, brake shoes, hoses, brake lines and master cylinder/booster. All new wheel bearings, tie rod ends, and grease fittings were installed. The rear end was cleaned, greased, and reinstalled. The radiator was removed, flushed and repaired. The gas tank was removed, flushed, coated and painted. The carburetor is a rebuilt replacement. The fuel pump is new, remanufactured. The exhaust system is completely new. The tires are new, period-correct, bias-ply, wide wheel well tires. This is an opportunity to own a rare classic that is fully restored to exemplary 9+ condition. He was a member of the Oldsmobile Club of America and had the opportunity to buy this Station wagon almost 2 years ago from a 72 year old gentleman in Michigan who owned the car for quite a few years. The body had been restored about 5 years ago and was professionally painted in the original colors. Years went by and the owner was not able to complete the mechanical rebuild so he decided to pass it along to the Oldsmobile enthusiast from Maryland who I bought it from. Oldsmobile was among the first of General Motors' divisions to receive a true hardtop in 1949, and it was also among the first divisions (along with Buick and Cadillac) to receive a wraparound windshield, a trend that eventually all American makes would share at sometime between 1953 and 1964. In the 1950s the nomenclature changed again, and trim levels also received names that were then mated with the model numbers. This resulted in the Oldsmobile 88 emerging as baseDynamic 88 and the highline Super 88. Other full-size model names included the "Holiday" used on hardtops, and "Fiesta" used on its station wagons. When the 88 was retired in 1999 (with a Fiftieth Anniversary Edition), its length of service was the longest model name used on American cars after the Chrysler New Yorker.
