For 1956, styling highlights included a new split grille in front and revised taillights and deck along with revised side chroming. Horsepower for the 324 Rocket V8 increased to 230 for 88s and 240 for Super 88s. A new four-speed Jetaway Hydra-Matic was introduced this year to replace the original Hydra-Matic transmission that Olds had used since 1940. The new Jetaway Hydra-Matic retained the four forward speeds and fluid coupling unit, but added a new "Park" position to the shift quadrant and no longer required band adjustment as a specified routine maintenance. Inside, an oval speedometer replaced the round unit and a new foot-operated parking brake replaced the previous T-handle unit. 1960 OLDSMOBILE SUPER 88 CONVERTIBLE . My family were Oldsmobile dealers for over 35 years and I have never seen a Super 88 Convertible in this kind of original condition this nice in my life. It has an "8" in the Vin number and "3567" on the original cowl tag. This one is as real as it gets! Original Vin tag is in the door opening. Original colors of Garnet Mist Metallic with Matching Garnet and White Interior, not a color change car. One re-paint stripped down to bare metal, no rust anywhere! Exterior paint is a 9 on a 10 scale. New Top that works perfect. Please look at the photos of the "ORIGINAL RED OXIDE FLOOR PANS". Options are the original 394/315 HP Rocket 4 BBL V8 engine, Original 3 speed Automatic Transmission, Original Rear End Housing! It is Numbers Matching. Other options are Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Convertible Top, Wonderbar AM radio, Deluxe Hub Caps are in place with Rear Fender Skirts. It has a CD Player installed but it is hidden in the glove box and instrument gauges installed under the dash just to keep more in touch with the engine functions while driving and enjoying this wonderful Oldsmobile. An aluminum radiator and extra fan has been installed to keep the car cool. Car is to be actual miles at 71,000 but they are exempt because it is over 10 years old. This is a very nice 1960 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 4Dr hardtop . This was pretty much a one owner California car from the early sixties until I bought it from an estate sale about 5 years ago I have all the California annual registrations and original bill of sale. the car had very little rust and was repainted in the original color, the paint job is very good quality and has a clear coat to protect the color that the original paint did not have . The interior was in need of a redo when I got it, the years of California's sun had taken its toll on the original upholstery. A new headliner was installed, and I located some yardage of the original Cloth material and original color & grain vinyl and had a local shop redo the seats in an original style as close as we could ( there were some original stamped vinyl sections we could not reuse or reproduce , but otherwise original stock patterns were maintained for a factory look ) , new carpets were installed and metal interior trim that needed freshening up was color matched and professionally repainted , the best door panels I could locate came from a Super 88 model and they were freshen up to match by the upholstery shop to match as close as possible , all the effort resulted in a very attractive new interior that shows well and will last for years with reasonable car .The car has fairly new radial tires , new battery , generator , voltage regulator , belts, hoses, brakes, carb was rebuilt, all the lights wiper horns etc. all work , and the car drives well. The original AM radio is not working is was going to look into doing a modern stereo conversion done on it on because I didn't want to modify the dash for something more modern, but never got around to it. This is a very nice fun car that turned heads and provokes admiring comments whenever its out and about. Its nice enough to show well in local shows , parades , and car meets I can't verify the mileage but this car was a registered daily driver with one California owner for almost forty years and that documentation comes with the car I added some pictures of the underside that were requested , I had pressure washed all the dirt and muck off the bottom and knocked some of the original under coating that was loose of the floor pans a while ago , and I cleaned up those areas and re sealed them with fresh undercoat so dirt couldn't collect again, but the floor are all original and good other then a small spot that was cut out on the drivers floor (see photo ) and replaced with new metal , dirt had collected in the original undercoat that blistered and it cause a small area the pinhole so it was fixed when the new carpets were installed . all the typical rust prone areas around the rear wheels and inner panels are completely solid and original and the trunk floor is original and very solid I can only get so many pictures on here but these show how original and solid the car is
