Here we have probably the nicest Oldsmobile G-Bodies I have ever had the pleasure of owning. This classic street machine has been in one family since new, and the resto mod was started about five years ago. Since the resto/mod, it has been garage kept 100% of the time, and has never been driven in bad weather. As far as the exterior; the base coat / clear coat 2-stage paint is new, and is shown in a beautiful Champagne color. The exterior trim has been painted black to help offset the color, and along with the anodized grey wheels; it gives this car a real hot rod look. Just take a look at all the sheetmetal… there is no sign of rust, and all the gaps are factory straight. The frame and under body are extremely clean, and will make the new owner very proud to say “sure… go ahead and look under there”. To help prevent the typical “G-Body shuffle” as it goes down the road; all body bushings, steering, suspension, and brakes have been replaced within the last 250 miles. All the suspension and steering parts are SC and C, so you know they’re high quality. The tires are also like new, and have about 1000 miles on them. The driveline in this beast is a transplant from a 2000 Camaro, and was completely rebuilt and upgraded before installation. The LS1 motor has been forged with LS6 top end, and the 4L60E trans has all upgrades available installed to handle the extra power. But wait… there’s more! A completely new, 8 rib, D1SC Procharger kit with inter cooler has also been installed to REALLY help this Olds scream down the blacktop! The motor was professionally built and tuned by RPM motor sports, and has shown 500 rwhp on a chassis dyno. The interior is mostly original with the exception of Chocolate Suede inserts professionally installed to help set off the interior color. Also added is a custom instrument panel, new steering wheel, and new trim panels. Carpet and seats are original, but are very clean and have been reconditioned and dyed. The interior is very nice and presentable, and there are no cracks in the dash and a new headliner. There are a few things still unfinished with the build. The A/C system is not complete. It does have a new compressor and just needs plumbing. The heat works great. I also have not installed a parking brake yet. Aside from these, everything is turn-key and ready to go. Don’t let one of the BEST G-bodies get away! This is a well-built street machine that will turn heads as it blows past them on the strip! I am only relisting MY car as a help to those that may be looking at the "other" lime green 442 convertible listed on ebay currently. The so called dealer representing it has used all of my information in their ad. After this was brought to my attention (by those who know this car) and after 2 weeks of discussions with ebay I am forced to put my ad up to prove that their decription is indeed false. I will let the viewing audience be the judge of what accolades go with what car. THEIR car has not been judged by the venues mine has, it was not born in Nashville TN , I know the original owner and have pictures of he and I standing with this car.A close look at THEIR car will tell a knowledgable car guy what he is looking at right away with regard to the quality of the restoration. Ebay has been absolutely no help and if you were to inquire about the "OTHER" car listed...the voicemail if full, how convenient. Its really too bad when one has to repeatedly state their case, send proof, pictures and it goes absolutely no where. Secondly, I'd like to say that I have been on ebay for well over 10 years and have taken pride to retain a 100% feedback rating. When it comes to advertising a car, I take great time and pride to explain or depict a cars condition through pictures. I never understood how one can think of selling or buying a car without the proper presentation. I also do this as I am a collector myself and like you I ask a ton of questions whether the car be worth $1000 or $100,000. If one were to just take the time to show the car in its entirety then a lot of questions would be answered with that alone. with that being said, I encourage you to take the time to let the 200+ pictures of this beautifully restored 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible upload. HISTORY This car was a demonstrator for awhile at Hippodrome Olds in Nashville TN. It was purchased In September of 1971 by Lloyd Esmon. He had been looking for one and a few days after visiting the dealership his salesman had called to say they had one to sell. Don Deathridge sold the car to him for $4448.59 after fees and discount. (This is one of 1096 convertibles made this year). Lloyd drove the car until the late 70's and took good car of it and recorded all of its oil- gas fill ups along with the gallons used and the price of gas at the time. I have those little record books. He then sold it to a cousin in Il. Vern in IL had the car painted once in the 80's in a shade of green not quite like the lime green should have been. Later Lloyds son Dwight purchased the car and it moved to FL. It had been cared for there until about 2005 and it was then that it went up for sale for the first time out of the family. I purchased it from the 4th owner and he had made some motor improvements but always keeping the original parts and original motor-trans intact. MY OWNERSHIPI have owned the car since 2008. It was a car show, cruise night car for us. It was then in late 2011 I decided to go all in and give it a proper restoration. I am a stickler for quality and correctness and almost all the work was done by myself. It received a full frame off restoration spanning 11 months and nearly 800 hours. (keep in mind this was a rust free car). RESTORATION During the restoration, I bag and tag everything. The factory grabbed nuts and bolts at random and this car retains all of them. I also write down where they all go as the order they were installed. Several fastener companies were used and I made sure I left all the different marked bolt heads as they were and they all were restored or replated in their correct finishes. As parts were taken off I documented the various inspection marks and colorings on different parts. All cars were different and humans made those marks. Every car I restore turns out a little different because of this. Remember there were many different plants and shifts of people doing the build process so not all had the same marks. The car was spared of no expense and detail. when working on such a pristine car and have no rust pits to fix, the end result is stunning. The frame is pit free, as is suspension components. The floors still have the runs and body caulk that was applied originally. On a car this nice I am able to keep all those things that are only correct one time in its life. The car is arrow straight, the paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I did add the hood though. I found years ago a hood that had been a take off of a 1971 cutlass in 1979. It was the most pristine original paint hood I have ever seen and I saved it for this car. Original perfect hoods are second to none and this one I carefully restored to be as close to authentic when I restored it. There were no stress cracks anywhere and I left all the areas white that you can see from the bottom white. These top skins were white and then bonded to the painted black bottoms. I duplicated the dates and inspection marks along with the proper assembly line overspray technique. A close look at the photos show that no part or fastener was left alone. DRIVETRAIN The block, trans and rear (now a 3:42 posi) are original to the car. Prior to me owning it, the 4th owner decided to spruce it up a bit. The car runs so incredible and quick, I made a tough decision to leave all that hard work and $$$ alone. While stock appearing the car is using a set of edelbrock heads, intake and carb. It has a bunch of mondello receipts to back it up. It idles healthy, starts right up and it has enough vacuum for power brakes. It is not radical at all but definitely healthier than a normal '71 455. I do have the original heads and intake but the carb is gone.Transmission was gone through, resealed and factory markings were re applied as they were found. OPTIONS Car was not ordered with many options. On the window sticker it shows, auto transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, a/c, tinted window, am radio, door guards, deluxe belts with rear retainers front mats and the light group. The car has all of the 5 original SS3 wheels. Car also has a seldom seen front air deflector re-inforcement. It can be seen in the photos and is rumored to be only on 71 4 speed cars. I have spoke with the past owners and even Lloyd had said "why would I add that as I don't even know what it is?" A NOS heater control valve was used as it is a 1971 only style with the vacuum diaphragm on it, and although it is not an option it was added to make the car even more correct. The am radio was replaced with a rebuilt am fm unit with modern internals and a Sirius radio located in the ash tray area if one decided to start using the car as intended. INTERIOR All the interior was in good shape but with the level I was going for with this car I turned to Legendary for it all. I kept all the original covers and door panels. I was able to keep the original carpet. Nothing fits better than the original and it also proves how the car was cared for. Some pictures show how nice the floors are with all the lime green paint on them and again I left them as is because there was no restoration needed to cover anything. BODY As stated before all the sheetmetal is original to the car and I added a few pictures of the bare floor areas to show indeed how nice they are. The trunk and floor pans did not have as much as a pin hole. Be confident knowing that this is not one of those cars that needed wheel tubs, quarters, donor doors and fenders and a full trunk pan. Actually one lower fender needed a patch about the size of a half dollar. GLASSEvery piece of glass is original. The windshield has a couple small chips but to me I'd rather say that it has never been out. BUMPERS Show chrome and replated bumper guards with new rub strips. All hardware, rear light housing guards, front marker lights and wiring was plated and cleaned to perfection. TOP New top, pad and well liner. Legendary boot goes with and the top has yet to be down due to the car's show circuit condition. Top will move up and down as it should if one decides to do so. TRIM All trim is original and has been polished to a high standard. Some original screws had to be sourced due to age but the proper clear plastic washers were used when necessary like the originals. TRUNK During the restoration I had found a way to duplicate as close as possible the way the original spatter was applied. It was originally done quickly with mediocre coverage at best and each car was different. each plant seemed to have either a different layout texture, color or pattern. Assembly line guys I've talked to over the years said that there were different vendors for these paints and they just used whatever they had. All lansing cars I have found have this style of big spot patterning and is an often missed step in a nice restoration. PAPERWORK Lloyd kept good records. The car has the auto log books as previously mentioned. It has its original window sticker and dealer copy of that sticker. It has 2 buyers invoice bill of sales, 1 typed and 1 hand written. 2 broadcast sheets and one production code sheet along with various cancelled check receipts to the dealer. No lansing build cars ever got a big build sheet, that is why other supporting documents are so important to have. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless .It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. Later that fall it scored a gold award (992-1000) at MCACN (musclecar and corvette nationals). In august 2014 it entered it's first AACA (antique auto club of America) and took a 1st junior award. Out of all the oldsmobile winners in 2014 It was selected for the prestigious REO OLDS award (only one olds or gmc is awarded this each year). I flew to the AACA annual meet this past February to accept the award and it was quite the honor for the car and myself. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further.THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with to help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. The Rallye 350 is a rare car to begin with, but this one is 1 of 160 F85 2-door sedans! This is a one-year only model, and built as a powerful and flashy muscle car that would fly under the radar of the insurance companies back in the 70’s. This car represents exactly how they rolled off the assembly line with the exception of the fact that this motor is not original. This Olds currently features an upgraded 403 Oldsmobile engine, but does retain the correct High performance ‘6’ code heads, correct intake, exhaust manifolds and Ram-Air equipment that is completely intact and functional. For the purist out there; I have a 1970 Oldsmobile Rocket 350 that would be the correct block for this car sitting in my shop that could be included in the sale. The original Turbohydromatic transmission has been completely rebuilt and shifts perfectly. The car also retains the original 12-bolt rear end. The exterior paint in stunning, and laid in a highly professional base coat / clear coat. All the correct striping along with the rear wing, Ram Air hood and color coded wheels with no trim rings are all restored in near perfect shape. The interior is in excellent shape. Virtually no wear on any of the vinyl surfaces to be found. The dash is intact and completely free of cracks or weather-checking. The rear package tray is in perfect condition. The heater controls show a little discoloration, but nothing to get upset about. All the gauges and lights work exactly the way they should. This rare muscle car also features items such as: - Power disc brakes - Power steering - W25 fiberglass hood - N34 Sport Steering wheel - D35 Sport Mirrors - FE2 Rallye Suspension - M10 Dual Exhaust - W35 Rear Deck Spoiler This is a high-quality restoration of an already super-rare car. First things first, the pictures of this car are very low resolution on this site, PLEASE click on the link below to my Photo Bucket to view 140 pictures of high resolution/high quality snap shots of the car! http://s1340.photobucket.com/user/pcb1303/library/85%20oLDS%20442/75%20Hurst%20Olds?sort=3&page=1 First time ever offered sale for to the general public is my 1975 Hurst Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (fifth letter in the Vin “K” denotes W 25 Hurst Olds) with only 36,700 original miles and is 1 of 939 ever made. From my understanding, this was a three owner car up until I bought it two years ago from Michigan, the gentleman I bought it from said he bought it from a car collector out of Florida where it spent most all of its life and the car has been stored for 22 years in the same building along with 32 other cars classic cars. My wife says I have a madness (LOL) I call it a passion for classic cars that will never, ever go away as all of my buildings are full of cars and I have nowhere to go with them anymore. It was a tough decision, but I decided to put my Hurst Oldsmobile up for sale, enough about me know let’s talk about the car. This car appears to be 100% original even the engine (I never did check to make sure thought), with the exception of the exhaust, tires, shocks, battery and the paint which appears to be some 25 years old, maybe even older? The paint job on the car appears to be a high quality driver, both sides look razor straight, body lines/gaps all line perfect to each other, the car has two very, very small dings in the passenger side quarter panel and I tried to take a picture of it, would not show up they were so small as seen from the photo bucket pictures. The roof on the car still has the original black paint on it, however it could use new paint only because it is foggy, getting dull looking. You will find some rock chips/road rash across the bottom of the car on both sides, which is very, small and not at all noticeable. You will find NO rust, scale, bondo or any metal replacement (including top of the metal dash, rear window or door jambs) as this car is totally 100% rust free and has been its whole life still retains all of its original sheet metal!! Looking at the vinyl top, it is original to the car with some light fading because it does not have that new shine look to it, I did NOT put any vinyl dressing on it to make it look like I was hiding anything like most people do, again look at the pictures that I have on my photo bucket and you will see just how nice and clean it looks. All of the chrome/stainless trim, bumpers on the car is in outstanding, like perfect condition with no dings or dents with the exception of the usual pot metal filler strip between the rear bumper and the trunk has some minor pitting from aging. Underneath the car you will see it is just as clean as the outside, NO scale on the floorboards, frame or rust repair of any kind, just the original factory under coating just as it left the assembly line back in 1975. As you look at the bottom of the car you will see NO oil, grease residue/buildup like you see on high mileage cars, again showing you that the 36,700 miles is totally original on this car, however the transmission pan gasket is just starting to leak/weep ever so slightly, to be honest with you I think it is the original pan gasket (cork) and should probably be changed along with a transmission filter/fluid anyway. Under the hood you find the clean 350 rocket engine to be totally original, un-touched with all of the correct wires, AC pump/compressor, belts and hoses to be original to the car with the exception of the upper radiator hose. When I bought the car the original air cleaner was lost, it had a open element style on it, so I found the correct air cleaner for it and had it sandblasted/powder coated with the original black 60% gloss finish, I never did put the rocket 350 lid decal back on it. I put about 570 miles on the car this summer with absolutely no problems whatsoever, it starts right up cold (no blue/black smoke from the almost new dual exhaust) with the choke working perfectly. The engine runs smooth as silk with NO knocks, lifter/rod ticking, exhaust leaks or any problems at all, as a matter of fact you could get into the car and drive it coast to coast with no worries/problems. When driving at highway speeds (70 mph) or city driving, you will find that this car handles just like new as it should with about 900 miles on the almost new tires it does not pull to either side of the road when letting go of the steering wheel at any speed or braking, the factory Hurst dual gate shifter works very nicely shifting very smooth in all three gears. The only, I mean only thing that does not work on the car is the AC, the fan blows cool air, not cold air which gives me reason to believe that it needs a fresh shot of Freon. Looking at the interior you find it was a non-smoked in clean (all of the ash trays are new never used) very, very presentable showing its original seat covers starting to shrink over time and some of the stitching/thread giving up after 40 years of light use, what is truly amazing is the original black dash pad with no cracks or fading, even the carpeting is original and in outstanding condition as it should for a low mileage survivor car, even the factory GM black floor mats show little to no wear at all. The AM 8 track radio works sometimes when it wants, I think it needs to be re-built or up graded, other than that everything works, wipers, all gauges, interior/exterior lights, heater, even the fasten seatbelt light on the dash glows red when you start the engine. In the trunk compartment you will find the original spare tire slightly used, guessing maybe 200 miles on it (see photo bucket) and the maybe once used compete bumper jack assembly underneath the tire. Back in the day on the assembly they always put the trunk mat in the car right after the splatter paint was sprayed, it was no different with this car as you can see what happens ARG, but you can still see the compete rust free trunk compartment! Sooner or later this car will need inner/outer door glass molding, door, T-top and trunk weather stripping as they are starting to show their age, although working just fine. I encourage everyone to view the 140 pictures by clicking on the link above that I have on photo bucket. After looking at the pictures you will get a very, very good idea just how nice this car really is, I took pictures of everything, with nothing to hide, however is I missed something….please let me know and I take a picture for you! CLICK BELOW to my photo bucket link. If you are having problems clicking on the link, please email me and I will send it to you. Photo Bucket link,http://s1340.photobucket.com/user/pcb1303/library/85%20oLDS%20442/75%20Hurst%20Olds?sort=3&page=1 I am open for cash offers, Hagerty muscle car values has an estimate of $17,800 however it does not take in consideration of the extremely low original miles on the car so no need for low ball offers. Let’s be fair with the offers and offer what you can afford, not what you think you can afford. This very same car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction at any given time without notice! To sum it all up: this is a very nice running very low mile clean, 100% rust free rare original 1975 Hurst Olds, I am sure I forgot something to tell you about the car, however if you would like more or any specific pictures, please ask. I can also send you my phone number and you can view/test drive this car in person by appointment only. Terms and conditions of sale: If you do not have the money, please do not bid, NO DAY DREAMERS, TIRE KICKERS, I OWE YOU’S OR WOODEN NICKLES, CASH IS ALWAYS KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The high bidder will pay a $500 non-refundable postal money order or paypal payment 2 days after the auction ends. I expect the balance to be paid in full within 10 days after the auction ends via cash, or Bank wire transfer (No Pay Pal UNLESS YOU PAY ME THE 3.5% THEY CHARGE ME). The car must be picked up in 15 days unless other arrangements have been made. The car does NOT leave the yard until it is paid for in full. I can help you find a very good, reasonable and reliable carrier at your expense. I have a very good friend that lives in Texas and all he does is transport cars one at a time on a 20ft trailer all over the US. You can always fly in to our airport, I will pick you up and you can drive the car home! Please resolve all questions BEFORE bidding on this automobile. You are entering into a legal and binding contract. If you do not intend to purchase the item described above, please do not bid. PLEASE bid only if you intend to buy. I reserve the right to cancel bids from bidders with excessive negative feedbacks. If you are new to eBay, just drop me a line and let me know your intentions. However, please see my feedback and bid with confidence. This vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty expressed, written, or implied. This is a very nice clone of a 70 442. Car has original (born with) motor and transmission. Both were rebuilt at time of restoration. Car has only 600 miles since it was restored. It needs a recharge on the ac and a couple minor things. Runs and drives fine. Underside is as clean as the top side. It's a show winner every time. I had this on EBAY a while back and it sold for $48K to a Wisconsin dealer...but the dealer could not come up with the money but had a lot of lame excuses !! Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Before we begin, I want you to know that like you, I'm a classic car and truck fanatic. I've also been an eBayer since February, 1998 and take pride in only receiving positive feedback over the last 17+ years. I've owned dozens of cars over the years and have made many sight unseen deals (many here on eBay) to buy or sell cars across the country. In addition, I strongly believe in the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words." The Internet has allowed us in our hobby to search for cars nationwide and it's my hope to make you as comfortable as possible with this purchase. I've been fortunate to have the opportunity to care for this Hurst Olds during the last year or so and I personally took all of the photographs and video. These survivor cars are raising eyebrows in our hobby, as more and more cars are receiving the vanilla restoration treatment. My restoration friends and I have watched these survivor cars very quietly increase in value to the point that they're rivaling restored cars. If you really want a unique car, purchase one that's never been restored. If you've owned a survivor, I think you'll agree that they drive better and feel better. There's something about an original survivor that is hard to describe unless you've owned one. Please sit back with your favorite beverage, enjoy the lengthy description, 7 video links, and 400+ photos of this incredibly special, true unrestored survivor, 90+ % original paint, Born-With Drivetrain, 1972 Hurst Olds. Background We're all car freaks and know the story. By 1972, the insurance companies were clamping down the seemingly out of control Muscle Car movement of the last 10 years. In addition, increasing environmental controls were forcing manufacturers to lower compression and add exhaust cleaning equipment to our cars. While Chevy, Ford, and Mopar waved their white flags and exited the Muscle Car era quite quickly, Oldsmobile and Pontiac still hung on and figured out ways how to make their cars go fast. The secret (in my humble opinion) lied in still producing gobs of torque and allowing these big blocks to breath. Even with lower compression, these Oldsmobile 455's lived up to their "Rocket" namesake and moved these warmed-up H/O cars down the road in a hurry. This H/O wears its Hurst badging with pride and is a testament to Oldsmobile's dedication to finding ways to sell exciting cars as the era was winding down. The 1972 Hurst Olds is a necessary car in a collection, as it accurately documents Oldsmobile's refusal to leave the Muscle Car era without a fight. I purchased this '72 Hurst Olds last fall from the 2nd owner in Indiana. He purchased the car from the original owner in Indianapolis during winter, 2014. That's right, this was just a 1 owner car for its first 42 years. The registration records show that the car was titled through the family business, and appeared to be a daily driver for its first year or so (looking at registration mileage each year). Since about 1974, registration records show that this H/O saw anywhere from several hundred to about a thousand miles each summer. That's it. Otherwise, it's been garaged, out of the elements and just given regular exercise. Please take a peek at the vintage photos of the car, with the Indy 500 graphics still on the doors. In addition, please don't forget to take a look at nearly EVERY registration receipt since 1972, the original voided title, and the dealer paperwork that goes with this car. Documentation with a car like this really helps tell this special car's story and I'm excited to have some neat paperwork to document the H/O's history, authenticity, and mileage. Overview Without a doubt, the best part about caring for this car has been driving it. I took a chance last fall and drove the car about 250 miles back to Wisconsin after purchasing it in Indiana. I was incredibly impressed by the way the car drove and ran! After a winter hibernation in heated storage, I was excited to get this well documented Hurst Olds back on the road. The attention this car gets on the street and at local shows is pretty amazing. Be prepared to chat with people! With "Pace Cars" as its theme this year, I reunited the H/O with some of its Indy Pace Car brothers at the Iola car show in northern Wisconsin. Prior to making the nearly 400 mile round trip, I had new AC plugs, date coded wires, points, condenser, cap, and rotor installed. I saved all of the replaced parts and was shocked to see green striped AC plugs and the ORIGINAL wires still on the car! Even the cap, rotor, and points were all AC Delco components. During the round trip, I averaged about 13.6 mpg while travelling at 68-72 mph, a testament to the health of the driveline and overall health of this terrific piece of history. If you're excited about these survivor Muscle Cars, use the previous story about driving to Iola to fuel your fire. Survivors just seem to run and drive better. I can honestly say that something is lost when cars are restored. The doors never close the same, the steering is never the same, and they certainly don't own the road like an original car does. Options What makes this car so special is its unique list of options. Of course, it's a Hurst Olds. But, did you know that 1972 saw the lowest production of Hurst Olds cars? Just 279 hardtop H/O cars were made, which is why you see so few of these today. Even including the convertibles and sunroof cars, just 629 Hurst Olds cars were made in '72. In addition to a warmed-up 455 rocket V8, the H/O package included the F41 suspension package, OAI (Ram Air) fiberglass hood, bucket seats and console with famed Hurst Dual Gate shifter , Rally Pack gauges (tach is inaccurate, clock stopped, but all others operate properly), GM's indestructible 400 TH transmission, partial vinyl top, and incredibly cool looking reflective stripe package. In addition, this car has some other unique options to set it apart from the others. The factory cruise control still operates, the AM pushbutton radio works like it should and holds stations, the factory Air Conditioning blows ice cold!, and the lighting package offers additional interior lighting. Finally, this car appears to have the nearly impossible to find Hurst installed alarm system. The alarm currently does not work, but I have the key. I think this would be a neat project to work on, as it would be really cool to have the alarm operate properly again! Paperwork and Numbers This Hurst Olds is well documented and adds considerably to its pedigree. Included with the sale are some vintage photos of the car back in the 70s. In addition, a broadcast sheet was found in the car and it backs up the car's heritage as a true H/O and documents its other options. The original voided title is included, as well as the Protect-o-Plate, and other dealer paperwork. Incredibly, the original owner managed to save nearly every registration receipt from 1972-2014. These receipts help document the car's original mileage and shows how well cared-for this car is. In addition, I've provided photos of the engine pad, transmission tag, and rear end code to document the "Big Three Driveline Items" as born with this car. I was unable to find a VIN derivative on the transmission case, but it's the correct OD tranny and its production date is correct for this car's April completion date. I have no doubt it's the born-with transmission. The rear is the correct SR coded 3.23 axle ratio and again is dated consistently with this car's production date. I didn't go crazy documenting the starter, alternator, water pump, etc. I suspect by looking at it, that the water pump has been replaced. The alternator has a factory stamp on it and I'm guessing that it's original to the car. I did decode the Quadrajet, however, and it checks out as correct for this car and within its build date. Now, here's an interesting story: while decoding the intake manifold, I learned that the non-W30 Hurst Olds cars should have an iron intake manifold. After decoding the aluminum intake that is installed on the car, it checks out as a December-later 1970 W30 intake! Now, we could speculate for days why the intake was swapped, as other go-fast goodies weren't swapped out on the car. It looks like it's been there forever, but it's a stretch to think that there was a leftover 1970 W30 intake left in April 1972. So, while not correct for the car, I've seen these intakes sell for $1,000+, so it's the best incorrect intake to have on the car! If you need me to get a number off another part, I will do the best I can to help. Mechanicals Set the choke, turn the key, and this car fires. That's it. As mentioned in the attached videos, this car isn't even too cold-blooded. It runs quite well even while warming up. As mentioned, the car was treated to some tune-up items before a recent road trip. The car brakes properly, the suspension is tight, the BF Goodrich tires look nearly new, the car stays cool, and drives incredibly straight down the road. The engine and transmission both leak a bit, as most of my old cars do. This car seems to drip less the more often it's driven, so maybe a few more miles will continue to help those gaskets swell. I haven't hesitated to take this car on longer drives, but please remember that it's still a 43 year old car. Please don't start driving it like your 2013 Tahoe. As far as what I think the car might need: as noted, the exhaust is ORIGINAL! The mufflers have started to leak a bit, but I would continue to drive the car as is until it's absolutely necessary to replace the exhaust. It's incredibly impressive to see those GM stamped mufflers and factory chrome trumpet tips out the back! Lastly, sometimes when passing, the car will hesitate a bit in the upper rpm range. It doesn't completely puke, but it sometimes sputters a bit. This is intermittent and as you saw, the car ran excellent under hard acceleration in the videos. But here and there, under acceleration, it'll hesitate. Maybe consider sending the carb to Sparky some upcoming winter? Maybe it's the accelerator pump? Otherwise, just drive it, as it hasn't bothered me. But, to make a long distance transaction as comfortable as possible, I want to mention everything I'm aware of. Exterior After having several restoration artists look the car over, we all believe that about 90% of the paint is original. There's a section on the driver's side rear quarter that appears to have been sprayed. This section is lacquer checking and extends from the middle of the wheel well to about the H/O decal. The passenger front fender also shows some blending on about half the panel and is also showing some lacquer checking. The photos also show the small spots of rust on the bottoms of the front fenders. I chose to leave both of the fenders as is, as I preferred to keep this car as untouched as possible. If a future owner would like to throw small patches in, it'd be pretty easy to do so. Please note the very minor bubbling under the vinyl top that is shown in the photos. Also, please note that the glass in this car is gorgeous, but the windshield took a stone at some point and has a chip...again, shown in the photos. Please note that although the trim is nice and the chrome shows well, this car has scratches and some dings. I tried to point out as much as I could in the photos, but it's an unrestored car, so some wear needs to be expected with these survivor cars. Finally, notice that this H/O has all 4 T3 headlights in it. If you're not impressed, you haven't tried to find the incredibly rare, 1972 only, T3 headlights. Unfortunately, one bulb burned out on the way home from Iola, so keep that in mind when purchasing. I'll start looking for a replacement... Interior The unrestored interior is as original as the exterior. The dash is gorgeous, as is the console!!! The driver's side seat shows just a little wear in the stitching, but otherwise the interior shows in nearly new condition. If the vehicle was ever smoked in, it's been many, many years, as there's no hint of cigarette smell in it. Just the classic GM interior smell. I'll let the photos talk on this one, but note the dynamite headliner, steering wheel, carpet, and door panels. Wow, wow, wow!! Engine Compartment & Undercarriage I really dig these unrestored old cars and trucks, so I resisted every temptation to start painting parts under the hood of this car. Other than some cleaning of the inner fenders and under the hood, I left the engine compartment as is. I did, however, succumb to my inner pressure, and touched up the frame rails on both sides. Scold me all you want, but this is the one thing on the car I felt I had to do. Both frame rails were full of chipping undercoating and looked super tacky. I carefully masked the pinch welds and needle scaled the frame rails between the tires. I wiped them down with prep-sol and sprayed them with Permatex rust killer. After drying overnight, two top coats of correct sheen black made the frame rails look nice again, like the rest of the car. Note the plethora of tags, marks, and paint dabs on the undercarriage. I had SEVERAL people at the Oldsmobile Nationals photographing the various markings on the car to reference for their own car. This is pretty interesting: note that there are areas of the floor boards where the undercoating has worn off or chipped. The exposed area shows gorgeous factory black paint and also shows how the factory overspray ended up on the floor boards. If time permits, the next owner may want to consider removing more of the undercoating to expose the untouched, preserved floors. Bottom Line If you've been on the prowl for a survivor Muscle Car to add to your collection, I think this is a dynamite choice. This '72 H/O is as honest as they get. It's well documented, has a born-with driveline, has been well-preserved, and drives fantastically well. Please call Jeff with any questions. Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 First off, I'd like to say that I have been on Ebay for well over 10 years and have taken pride to retain a 100% feedback rating. When it comes to advertising a car, I take great time and pride to explain or depict a cars condition through pictures. I never understood how one can think of selling or buying a car without the proper presentation. I also do this because I am a collector myself and like most I ask a ton of questions no matter what the cars value. It was purchased In September of 1971 by Lloyd Esmon and was built late (july 23rd 1971). Vern while in IL had the car painted once in the 80's in a shade of green not quite like the code 43 lime green it should have been. It never saw a winter while in the Midwest. Later Lloyds son Dwight purchased the car and it moved to FL. It had been cared for there until about 2005, had the engine rebuilt and it was then that it went up for sale for the first time out of the family. I purchased it from the 4th owner and he had made some motor improvements but always keeping the original parts and original motor-trans intact. MY OWNERSHIP I have owned the car since 2008. It is pretty neat when I tell people that all 5 owners of this car including #1 are still with us. RESTORATION During the restoration, I bagged and tagged everything. The factory would grab nuts and bolts at random during the build process and this car retains all of them. I even made a batch of body seam sealer to match the peach colored body plug caulk. some cars had this color and others I have had used the light green variation. The car is arrow straight and was blocked out more times than I can recall. The Sherwin Williams base/clear paint is far nicer than they were then, the trunk has the proper trunk spatter as the Lansing plant applied. All the sheetmetal on the car is original to it. I used photos I take from original paint cars to document the proper side pinstripes and I was also able to measure off of the original stripes I un-earthed while stripping the body to bare metal. I did add the ram air hood though. A close look at the photos show that no part or fastener on this car was left alone. I do have the original heads and intake but the carb is gone. Due to the intake, I display the OAI plastic top at shows but need to remove it for driving. It is an inch higher and it causes some interference when the hood is closed. Transmission was gone through, resealed and factory markings were re applied as they were found. Mechanically speaking, the car doesn't need anything. I still have a set of reproduction kick panels with the speakers built in if one would choose to used the radio. The A/C system was blowing ice cold prior to the restoration and was converted correctly to 134. It has not been charged since the car has not seen much road use. Rally pac and gauges were added by previous owner. GLASS Every piece of glass is original. The windshield has a couple small chips but to me I'd rather say that it has never been out. all side glass is nice, date coded and line up as they should. Jack has a very nice mast with its correct plating intact and the other pieces were restored properly. I see soo many cars advertised or at big auctions that have had options added or sit there with not an ounce of paperwork. ACCOMPLISHMENTS Since being finished I took it down to Nashville before a car show to show the original owner, his wife, his son Dwight and his wife. They were so thrilled to see it and Lloyd said it sure looks a lot better than he ever remembered. His son flew in from FL to see it an couldn't believe it was the same car he once owned. It sure made my day and I am happy when I can still talk to original owners of cars I own. The days of this happening are shrinking and to me the story that goes with the car is priceless . It then scored a 989-1000 at the 2013 Oldsmobile Nationals. The car could go on to win an AACA senior if so desired and I can transfer the junior award to the new owner if they intend to take it further. I was recently asked if I wanted to show it in the Milwaukee masterpiece (a concours event this august) THE FUTURE I have wrestled with the decision of furthering the car's show career, starting to drive it more (has only driven about 15 miles since completed) charge the A/C and use it as it should, or sell. I have decided to let a new caretaker come along and enjoy it. A decision like this is tough when you put your own blood sweat and tears into a project. I did the car this way because I could, and it helped to have a decent amount of knowledge of 442's to work with and help along the way. I also feel that the nicer the car to start, the better it will turn out and stay. I have been to the major auction houses and have seen the cars that are bought and sold. It boggles my mind to see cars sold and the new owner may not know the seller or know anything about the car at all. I would rather see the car go to a true appreciative car collector that knows what it takes to do a car this way. I encourage anyone to come and look for themselves as this car truly fits the phrase "pictures don't do it justice" Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at anytime for any reason. I am in Milwaukee, located about 90 miles north of downtown Chicago and 30 miles from the IL border. I encourage any questions or inspections to be done prior to the auctions end. New Page 1 For sale today is a true time capsule: an early 1 repaint, survivor, 1970 Cutlass Cruiser (flat top) Wagon, with just over 30,000 original miles. Please grab a beverage and take some time to browse the 160+ photos and 7 YouTube videos of this terrific car. Whether you're a local enthusiast, or across the country, the attached description and information is intended to make you as comfortable with this purchase as possible. This gorgeous Cutlass wagon is equipped with an Olds 350-2 bbl Rocket, backed with a Turbo Hydramatic 350 transmission. While travelling to northern Wisconsin last summer, the wagon finally turned 30,000 miles. Just 30,300 miles in 45 years doesn't seem possible, but this car has been protected and dearly cared for over the last 5 decades. I purchased this phenomenal cruiser with just 25,000 on the clock and it has been one of THE best running, driving cars I have ever owned. This Olds wagon was purchased new in May, 1970 by Les Connor from Frink Olds-Chevy in Ashland, Oregon. Les was in his '60s when he purchased the wagon and as he grew older, the car changed hands. At one point, it resided in Texas, but found a longer term owner in Ohio, which is how I found it. I've actually owned this wagon twice. I regrettably sold it one time many years ago, but fortunately had a chance to buy it back for a 2nd time about 3 years ago. It's one of those vehicles that just grabs you once you drive it. Only other restoration projects bring the opportunity for a new owner. Our family has enjoyed this Olds wagon immensely. This is the vehicle we take on a 4 hour trip to northern Wisconsin each summer and it cruises at 70-75 mph without a hiccup. One look underneath this beautiful car tells the story of where it has been and the pampered life it has led. Please remember that these wagons were purchased like we buy mini-vans today. Kids spilled and threw up in these wagons all the time and they were used as baseball backstops in the driveway. Somehow, this Cutlass wagon has emerged unscathed, with just over 30,000 miles on the clock. This is one of the most solid, untouched cars you will find. Original runs and overspray of its original Aspen Green color adorn the undercarriage . The factory "blackout" treatment used in some assembly plants on the front suspension parts can still be seen on the oil pan. There is still the green dip that the e-brake hangers were coated with to prevent rattling on the floor. Also note in the photos that the body mounts still have their factory stripes and color to them. When is the last time you saw that?! The doors shut with the slightest touch, and all the weather stripping is there and soft. There is no evidence or rot or scale anywhere on this car top to bottom. A survivor in nearly every aspect, the Olds wagon has had one early enamel repaint in its original Aspen Green color. The paint still shows very well, with a few nicks, scratches, and a few high spot thin spots that can be expected from a nearly all original, survivor car. The enamel paint has a factory look to it, though, and some "modeling" that's seen in so many factory metallic paint cars is evident on this wagon too. The interior has survived over the years to an almost unbelievable condition. It looks as if it never made a trip to the lumber yard, let alone ever hauled any kids to little league practice. I added a arm rest front seat and had the original pattern matched. I do still have the original seat which has a split seam that just happened last season. Please note in the photos how nice all of the interior hardware is. Even the factory fastener screws have their plastic washers intact! The A/C was converted years back to 134 and works fine. The car has a posi rear of unknown ratio and a W-27 cover. The exhaust is a nice set of duals, which have a nice mellow tone and exit on the sides. I added the NOS wheel covers and double line whitewalls for the straight out of the brochure look (note the brochure photo in the pictures.) Restored (blasted and painted) rally wheels are under the hubcaps if the new owner ever decides to go with that look on the car. The manual rear window and 2 way tailgate operates perfectly. Car has the light group, disc brakes and a hood lock. This is a fly in, drive home car as that is what I did when I bought it back several years ago. We have enjoyed it immensely, take it on regular family vacations and literally load it up with cargo without hesitation. Simply put, this is a car you can get in, drive, and enjoy. No excuses, no long stories, just a rare, sharp car that you can enjoy in good weather. If you don't mind the attention and family stories recollecting the family wagon days anywhere in public than this is the car to have. Thank you for looking and please keep in touch if there are any questions. 1971 Oldsmobile 442Ultra Rare, Matching Numbers, W30 ConvertibleDocumented in the W30 Registry!1 of 10 ProducedEarliest Production Known to Exist & Loaded with Factory Options!Oldsmobile produced only 110 442 W-30 convertibles in 1971, only 10 of which, including this stunning example, were factory equipped with air conditioning. This car is included in the W-30 Registry and has been inspected and verified as an authentic W-30 by a noted W-30/442 authority. A very rare example of Doctor Oldsmobile's finest muscle-car convertible, this W-30 retains its original drivetrain comprising its original numbers-matching engine, transmission and rear end. The engine and W-30-only OW-code transmission bear the original VIN stampings and the original rear axle housing shows the unique code for W-30 cars equipped with factory air conditioning. The car retains the original parts exclusive to the W-30 package, including the original red fender liners, factory GM H-code cylinder heads, OW-code automatic transmission, factory intake manifold, correctly stamped 7041257 carb, 1112034 distributor and other parts unique to the W-30. Finished in its original color of Matador Red and complemented with a White top and interior and White rally stripes on its W-25 Open Air Induction Ram Air Induction Hood, this is one of the most striking color combinations that ever left the Lansing, Michigan, plant. This car is not only the top-of-the-line W-30 but was also ordered with a multitude of options making it even more rare. The factory options list includes the W-30 455 CI engine, 400 Turbo Hydra-Matic high-shift-point automatic transmission with Hurst Dual Gate shifter, factory air conditioning, cruise control, power windows, power top, power steering, tilt column, sport steering wheel, rally gauges, AM/FM Radio with 8-Track tape player, power front disc brakes, and power trunk release. It would likely be impossible to find a more thoroughly equipped and visually arresting W-30 convertible with factory air conditioning. Perhaps the earliest W-30 convertible built, it is believed to be a factory show car. According to GM factory records it was delivered to the GM factory warehouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in January of ’71 destined for Midwest car-show duty. A body-off restoration was performed in the mid '80s, when typical rust repair was necessary due to the car’s Midwestern origins. Body panels were sourced from a rust-free donor car and used to keep the car all-original GM sheet metal. After passing through a handful of long-term owners, this factory-air W-30 convertible was purchased by muscle-car collector Mike Guarise. Because of the significance of this car, Mike had the car restored again in 2014 to a much higher standard. The car is a pleasure to drive, as it runs and drives as a properly sorted GM A-body should.HIGHLIGHTS- 1 of 10 produced with factory air conditioning - Original matching numbers drivetrain - Listed in the W-30 registry - One of the earliest W-30 Convertibles built and believed to be a factory show car - Delivered in January 1971 to the GM factory warehouse in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - Body-off restoration completed in 2015 - Very highly optioned - W-25 OAI Ram Air hood - Original Red fender liners - 455 CI engine with GM H-code heads - TH400 high shift point automatic transmission - Correct intake manifold, carburetor and distributor - Hurst Dual Gate shifter - Factory air conditioning - Power convertible top - Power steering and front disc brakes - Power windows and trunk release - Cruise control, tilt steering column - Rally gauges, sport steering wheel - AM/FM radio with 8-Track player - Original GM sheet metal - Highly desirable and factory correct Matador Red with White Rally stripes and interior 5/21/20151971 Oldsmobile 442 2 Door Convertible (W-30)Values Original MSRPLow Retail Value This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. I am this vehicle's third owner. I have owned it for 11+ years during which I undertook multiple restorations and modifications.         This Oldsmobile has been my pride and joy, turning heads and starting conversations everywhere I take it. I will truly miss it, and will want to be informed of its progress from time to time.         WHY SELLING         My reasons for selling it are: My son is in college now and my daughter will begin in 2016. Accordingly, my wife and I will be downsizing from our large home that has plenty of parking, to a smaller place which will not have enough parking spaces to store any extra vehicles. I no longer have the time to devote to planning its various upgrade projects, such as a 21st century audio system. An enthusiastic new owner is needed to keep this marvelous vehicle running to and beyond its 50th birthday.         ITEMS INCLUDED Extra wheel center cap, never used New reproduction air cleaner cover (purchased from Fusick) Four new interior door lock chrome trim rings (one is missing on the passenger door) Box of new amber bulbs for front turn signals (was a special order from NAPA) Extra light bulb sockets and wires Old radiator hoses (keep for emergency) Extra mounting screws for headlight covers; that is, a handful of used ones (to replace a few that are mis-matched) Book of all my service records and purchase receipts (except for routine oil changes Professional appraisal dated 2011 Car cover (10 years old) Original engine radiator fan             TEST DRIVE         Contact me with your available dates. We will meet in Key Biscayne, Florida, which is next to Miami. I will provide a link to a Google map showing our meeting location. Make sure to bring with you: Your current, unexpired driver's license. I will be taking a picture of it with my iPhone. Proof of automobile insurance. I will photograph that also. Proof of sufficient funds available for a cash purchase. A photocopy of your bank account statement dated the week of your test drive, will be adequate.          SALES TERMS Vehicle is sold AS IS with NO WARRANTY given or implied. $1000 deposit due within 24 hours of auction end or sale. Full payment due 7 days after auction end or sale. For payment using cash, the transaction must be done at the teller window of my bank branch. If the bills check out, then the vehicle will then be yours. For payment using your bank's cashier's check or a money order, the financial instrument must be inspected and approved by the manager of my bank branch. The vehicle will be yours when the funds appear in my bank account. Sorry, no personal checks, wire transfers, credit cards, precious metals, gemstones, livestock, Bitcoins, PAYPAL, trades, or other forms of payment will be accepted. The title of this vehicle is clear. My automobile insurance policy does not cover buyer. My insurance coverage for this vehicle will be canceled after buyer's payment is received. Buyer may arrange for transport of this vehicle at buyer's expense and risk. Of course full payment has to be completed first. As a favor to buyer, I will maintain the vehicle inside my garage after it is sold, and facilitate delivery to the auto transport operator or hired driver, provided the operator or hired driver comes to within one mile of my residence. Since vehicle is also advertised for sale locally, seller retains the right to cancel the on-line auction or sale.         NO WARRANTY This vehicle is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty, given, expressed, written, or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct or incorrect description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions, images or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid and/or make purchase offer based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. No refunds, no exceptions. PRICE EXPLAINED The professional appraisal of $30,500, minus a generous allowance for any reconditioning or upgrades that the buyer desires And please note the very low mileage for a 46-year-old car: 42,000 With regard to the price, I believe earnest sellers such as myself consider everything negotiable however this is not a distress sale. Intent buyers can demonstrate their sincerity. I will permit your local inspector to survey this vehicle.         FINAL WORDS Thank you for looking This Toronado is nearly half a century old. Consequently, various perishable items have and will eventually reveal their maturity. Fortunately these are generally easily addressable. For example, a new muffler was just installed since the original one, finally after 47 years, graciously ended its faithful service. So please keep in mind that because automobiles have few unyielding components, a competent mechanic will be your best friend. Contact me if you want to see additional photographs -- I have over 150 in a DropBox Sorry the vanity license plate stays with me
