Eventually, the Bonneville, an ostentatious line-topper that epitomized the division's newfound style and performance, became one of the hottest names in the automotive landscape. And when you take one look at a classic like this incredible convertible, it's not hard to understand why. The car's retractable roof optimizes glitzy Main Street jaunts. Its powerful Tempest 425 V8 is tame enough to cruise on the highway, yet strong enough to own the stoplight. And its rich black, silver and gray color combination is one of the best schemes to ever adorn old school Detroit metal. If you're in the market for a tailored classic that wraps exoteric style in limitless appeal, welcome to "The Boldest Advance in Fifty Years!" BODYWORK/TRIM Much more impressive than when it originally rolled down GM's storied Wilmington assembly line, this well-done Poncho has been transformed into a take-no-prisoners weekender that consistently headlines cruise nights. Its solid, '58-exclusive body is covered in correct and very fitting Persian Black 2-stage. There are no obvious signs of wholesale panel replacement, suggesting this has been a straight, rust-free shell its entire life. Not surprisingly, the car's clean fit and finish is almost good enough to turn reflections into reality. And ultimately, it all adds up to one super cool cruiser that, thanks to its spectacular combination of color and trim, has an absolutely magnetic presence! Speaking of trim, Pontiac's first generation Bonneville certainly did its fair share to promote the sale of sunglasses. And, as with its sculpted body, all of this drop-top's ornate jewelry has, at one point, been restored to excellent condition. At the front of the car, a deep chrome bumper seats correct Star Chief parking lamps at the base of a correct die-cast chrome grille. Above that grille, mirrored hood trim frames a canted "B O N N E V I L L E" script and intricate T3 headlights. At the sides of those lights, rocket-themed profile spears dissect polished rocker plates, guarded door handles, small wheel skirts and correct fender-mount mirrors. At the edges of those spears, classy "Bonneville" scripts and red, white and blue Tri-power emblems perfectly complement aeronautical fender toppers and Bonneville-exclusive louvers. At the top of the car, polished frames seal factory-tint glass under a pliable white top. That top flows into a massive, Silver Streak-esque decklid, which hangs a second "B O N N E V I L L E" script between simple trim, rocket-inspired taillights and a small, power operated antenna. And those taillights reflect a familiar continental kit, which is propped on a correct faux sport bumper and subtle, polished exhaust tips. ENGINE When Bunkie Knudson began Pontiac's revival, circa 1956, he started building a performance powerhouse. By the time the division's 1960 models rolled down the line, it was literally dominating NASCAR, NHRA and Pike's Peak. That stellar showing was no doubt thanks to engines like this Bonneville's retrofitted Tempest 425 V8. At the top of the spry mill, wind whips through a black, single-snorkel air cleaner in to a trio of familiar Rochester carburetors, which cap a traditional iron intake. At the sides of that intake, stamped steel valve covers split the difference between factory exhaust manifolds and 7mm Hi-Temp Radio Suppression Cables. At the ends of those cables, an old school points distributor aligns with factory wiper components and a correct master cylinder. A correct radiator utilizes pliable hoses, simple squeeze clamps and a correct shroud to provide ample cooling. A reproduction Delco battery jolts a tagged Delco-Remy generator. And overall, this Poncho's glossy engine compartment is fully sorted and ready to roll! DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION The beneficiary of a high quality, frame-up restoration, this clean full-size is certainly no stranger to good times and weekend road trips. The car's solid floorpans are coated in thick black paint, which, complete with factory drips, perfectly complements a sturdy Aero Frame X-frame. A proven Strato-Flight Hydra-Matic 4-speed spins a correct GM axle that literally sails the engine through its broad power band. Under that capable drivetrain, a factory-spec suspension is equipped with factory power steering. Power-assisted drum brakes provide adequate stopping prowess. At the center of the floors, a correct exhaust system utilizes correct turbo mufflers to weave an aggressive, full throttle rumble into a subdued and classy idle. And, at the corners of the suspension, great looking 8.50-14 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls frame stylish Pontiac wheel covers. INTERIOR In the '50s, GM was the king of design. Period. And this Bonneville's correct Gray and Silver interior is one of the most beautiful cockpits ever mounted behind a motor. Broad and fastidiously crafted, the car's rare hardback bucket seats feature standard leather hides. There's a stylish dash that's based in gray, trimmed in brushed aluminum and equipped with chrome-rimmed gauges, a deluxe radio and a correct factory clock. Note the car's spectacular door panels, which carry their combination of chrome, aluminum and two-tone vinyl to a body-matched convertible cowl. Below the seats, heavy-duty floor mats protect chrome-flecked carpet. The centerpiece of this tailored environment is an expertly restored steering wheel, which is cinched between a polished shifter, a bright horn ring and a classy Pontiac emblem. And behind the cockpit, a positively massive trunk sandwiches a second spare tire between a small light and a thick mat. When the Detroit party from the 1950s was over, cars like this 1962 Pontiac Bonneville convertible were the cure for the resulting hangover. Sleek, stylish, reserved, and full of performance, the big Bonneville was the ultimate symbol of success for a younger generation. The fact that it was also fast was surely part of its appeal, and this nicely preserved example demonstrates without a doubt why these cars are hot collectables today. Glancing at the PHS build sheet that accompanies this big ragtop, you\'ll note that it still wears a correct coat of code P Aquamarine paint, a playful color that perfectly embodies the Bonneville\'s split personality. Pontiac was hitting on all eight cylinders throughout the \'60s, but this might be the car that really started the luxury/performance trend that defined the excitement division. The bodywork on this particular car is quite straight and the paint has a wonderful vintage-looking shine, so it looks right and generates a ton of attention wherever it goes. Fit and finish is very good, with nicely aligned doors-a critical detail given the long trim that runs from nose to tail. A few neat details like the fender ornaments, the split Pontiac grille, and those ultra-cool curving taillights (now with blue dots) mean this is a car you can admire for a long time without seeing it all. Someone has invested big in making it look this good, but it\'s still priced very reasonably. Nice! Pontiac enthusiasts will find the tri-tone upholstery and the uniquely-shaped bucket seats familiar, and it\'s more evidence that Pontiac was working overtime to separate themselves from the pack. The correct code 277 Aqua interior looks very good with only minor signs of use that seem to enhance its appeal. Come on, don\'t you just want to slide into that driver\'s seat and key it up? The instrument panel is a double-decker affair, with a wide speedometer up top framed in wood and a stainless section below for the auxiliary controls. Overhead there\'s a white power convertible top with matching boot and the massive trunk is detailed with a reproduction mat, full-sized spare with cover, and a jack with pouch. This heavily optioned cruiser is also equipped with factory AC, power steering, power brakes, rare factory AM/FM radio with power antenna, full interior lights, movable trunk light, remote driver\'s side mirror, tinted windshield and the desirable 8-lug aluminum wheels. Pontiac\'s 389 cubic inch V8 was a mainstay across the line, and it delivers impressive performance in the Bonneville. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and with dual exhaust, it\'s powerful but doesn\'t call attention to itself; it\'s merely competent and trustworthy. It\'s painted correct Pontiac Turquoise and still wears the optional heavy-duty air cleaner. Underneath, it has a correct Hydramatic transmission and heavy-duty rear end, and if ever there was a car designed for long road trips across the western US, this is it. Add in 8-lug wheels and 215/75/14 whitewall radials, and this is one of the best-looking cars of the period. Included are the original owner\'s manual, shop manual, and an original sales brochure. Full documentation from Pontiac Historic services is also provided, including a reproduction widow sticker.. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom. If you want to know what\'s cool in cars, slide behind the wheel of this 1963 Pontiac Bonneville convertible and watch what happens. The ultimate in \'60s chic, the Bonneville is for guys who have it made but don\'t much feel like driving around in their dad\'s stuffy Cadillac, and it\'s got the power to back it up. Painting it black only makes it look that much more massive, maybe about a city block long, but Pontiac designers nailed it with this one. Black is this car\'s original color, so you know the guy who ordered a loaded triple-black Bonneville ragtop back in 1963 had his life together. It\'s in great shape, not perfect, but certainly nice enough to wear black paint with pride and no glaring issues show up in the keeps-no-secrets finish. The doors fit well and the side trim lines up neatly, so you know they spent the time to get it right when it was time to put it back together. The stacked headlights were a Pontiac look that continued for years and influenced the entire industry, while the beautiful, almost delicate taillights give this car the look of something far more expensive. Bright chrome details provide just the right amount of contrast, but not so much that they make the car look heavy. The Pontiac guys got this one right! Black bench seats provide enough room for six in the full-sized B-body ragtop, and in the top-of-the-line Bonneville, luxury came standard. The seats remain in good condition with some signs of age and wear, but the door panels look very good, the carpets are dark and not particularly worn, and that\'s real walnut veneer on the dash. A wide speedometer is directly ahead of the driver, but a trio of auxiliary gauges is in the center of the dash and looks extremely sporty, making the Bonneville the ultimate luxury/muscle machine. An artfully designed steering wheel makes you feel important when you\'re at the helm, and the car is optioned up with power windows and a power convertible top that mean you don\'t even have to get out of your seat to enjoy open-air motoring. The factory radio is still in the dash, too, and the gorgeous panel ahead of the passenger with \"BONNEVILLE\" spelled out in block letters is extremely cool. The black convertible top is in excellent shape and with a black boot it gives the big convertible a very sleek look. And you know it\'s made for road trips, because there\'s a giant trunk with original mats and a full-sized spare tire. Pontiac\'s 389 cubic inch V8 was the top engine in 1963 and provides the kind of effortless power you\'d expect from a car like this. It\'s not all shiny and detailed under the hood, but the basic mechanical goodness of the engine can\'t be denied and it purrs along on the highway without breaking a sweat. There are no major deviations from stock, so it\'s going to be easy to keep it in top condition from here on out. A Hydra-Matic automatic transmission delivers power to the stock rear end, and aside from a new muffler, the undercarriage appears to be quite original. Handsome full wheel covers with spinners are fitted inside flashy 15-inch wide whitewall radials. Luxury performance was never this good anywhere but in the Pontiac showrooms, and the top-of-the-line Bonneville still delivers traffic-stopping looks and plenty of punch on the open road. For Pontiac guys, the 1958 Bonneville is a pretty big deal. Add in Tri-Power, a stunning color combination, and the fact that only 9144 Bonneville hardtops like this were built, and you have an incredible collectable that always blows the crowd away at shows. Finished in its original Patina Ivory, this awesome Bonneville is the spitting image of the Indianapolis pace car, particularly with the bright red spear running down its side. Restored several years ago, it still looks imposing, thanks to the one-year-only design that made all GM cars look expensive and very upscale. Paint and bodywork are impressive, with laser-straight flanks that clearly show a ton of labor went into the restoration, and with a known history and just three owners, there\'s no question that it was a well-maintained car all its life. And as with any car of the 1950s, never mind Pontiac\'s top-of-the-line model, it\'s literally drenched in chrome, with incredible details on the cast grille and beautifully polished stainless trim along its flanks. And unlike, say, the Buick or Oldsmobile models, the big Bonneville wears it well without looking like an afterthought. This is a really impressive car. The interior is no less dramatic, with contrasting red and white upholstery with a very 1950s glow. The seats show only minimal wear that amounts to some minor stretching in the driver\'s seat area, and the door panels are simply works of art all by themselves. The dash and instrument panel are as ornate as the exterior trim, with textured stainless steel surfaces framing the round gauges and secondary controls. An original AM radio remains in place, complete with rear speaker, and the gauges themselves show crisp markings and wonderfully ornate needles. And dig the sparkling carpets, which are pure 1950s kitsch. The steering wheel is color-matched to the rest of the car and reinforces the 1950\'s fascination with jet propulsion and the shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission is the most delicately sculpted piece of machinery we\'ve seen. The trunk is, of course, absolutely massive and comes complete with a full-sized spare, correct mat, and a set of manuals. All Pontiacs used the 370 cubic inch V8 introduced the year before, but the one you really wanted was the Tri-Power, which includes a trio of Rochester 2-barrel carbs. Rated at 300 horsepower, it was far less finicky than the fuel injected models and was more than $400 cheaper, too. Nicely detailed, including the rather rare original air cleaner, the engine bay offers a lot of satin black offset by Pontiac Turquoise on the engine block and some properly plated detail pieces. Dual exhaust gives the muscular V8 the right soundtrack to attract a younger set of buyers (this was Pontiac\'s first foray into the youth market) and the undercarriage is tidy and neat with just the right amount of undercoating to protect everything without hiding the details. Coil springs in back were new for the Bonneville, too, so this big coupe rides and handles surprisingly well, particularly with a recent set of tubular shocks. Nice-looking wide whitewall radials fitted to bright red wheels with spinner hubcaps give it the right vibe and really improve performance in a big way. Fast, rare, and highly desirable, this Bonneville hardtop is the car you\'ve been seeking for years. Don\'t let another one slip by, put this awesome cruiser in your garage today. Call now! Recently restored, this slick blue 1969 Pontiac GTO is a matching-numbers car with some nice options, proving that you can still get a high-grade Goat for not a lot of cash. Following the factory specs, it is handsome as well as fast, comfortable as well as intimidating, all things that made the GTO a legend in its own time. That\'s correct code 53 Warwick Blue, a rather unusual color, but that\'s how this car was originally ordered. It\'s not much different than what the Chevy guys were spraying on Chevelles and Camaros, but it gives this GTO a more sophisticated look that\'s more akin to its siblings the Grand Prix and Bonneville than more blue-collar muscle cars. The shiny paint tells you all you need to know about this car and the restoration, as the reflections are distortion-free and the gaps are excellent all around. The GTO didn\'t need stripes or even a wing to stand out, although the two scoops on the hood might serve as a kind of warning, and this car sports optional Hide-Away headlights, a popular option with GTO fans. The chrome and stainless trim was restored, too, so it sparkles against the icy blue paint. The incredibly inviting dark blue bucket seat interior is quite likely nicer than it ever was when it was new, with nicely detailed seat covers that emulate the always-interesting Pontiac design motif. New carpets, correct door panels, and a woodgrained center console make it look factory fresh. Interestingly, this car carries the standard gauge package, which covered only the bare minimums like speed and fuel level, but the original owner did spring for factory A/C, which has been converted to R134a refrigerant and works quite well today. There\'s also a digital AM/FM stereo radio in the dash, cleverly disguised to look like the original pushbutton AM radio, including the knobs which blend right in with the rest. Open the trunk and you\'ll find nicely restored components, including a full-sized spare with matching Rally II wheel and a restored jack assembly. Even the base GTOs got the big guy: 400 cubic inches and 350 horsepower are on tap here. This is the car\'s original, numbers-matching engine, rebuilt and detailed correctly, and now showing some signs of use. Bright chrome valve covers and a bolt red and white decal on the air cleaner suggest that the Pontiac guys knew their buyers would spend a lot of time under the hood, and someone went the extra mile to make sure the little stuff was right. You\'ll note correct finishes and materials used throughout the engine bay, from the brake booster to the Pontiac Turquoise paint on the block, and it runs great. It will sound familiar when you turn the key and barks through a set of twin tailpipes that give it a smooth, powerful voice. A heavy-duty TH400 3-speed automatic feeds 3.54 gears in the 12-bolt rear end, so it\'s fast off the line but doesn\'t mind highway drives with the A/C blowing. It isn\'t detailed for show underneath, but with a car like this, the experience is about driving, not looking at it with mirrors. The Pontiac Rally II wheels were restored, too, offering bright trim rings and PMD centers, as original, and they\'re wrapped in 225/70/14 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. Documented with PHS paperwork, this affordable GTO offers the style, performance, and yes, even a bit of luxury that made Pontiac so special in the 1960s. Call today! When the 1975 Trans Am debuted, Pontiac said there would be none built with the mighty 455 under the hood. However, midway through the model year, succumbing to enthusiast pressure, the 455 HO did indeed make its way under the T/A\'s shaker hood scoop. Mated exclusively to a 4-speed gearbox such as in this amazing Buccaneer Red example, it was still a force to be reckoned with. For many, the 1975 F-bodies are the best of the second-generation, offering the butch front-end styling from the early models, but adding the wrap-around rear window that not only improves visibility, but also dramatically brightens the interior. Buccaneer Red was one of four colors available in 1975, and while this one was originally Sterling Silver, there\'s simply no trace of the original color, a tribute to the quality and thoroughness of the restoration. The car has already won a bunch of trophies, and the workmanship shows extremely well with straight quarters, big doors that fit quite well, and urethane bumpers and spoilers that seem to defy their age. All the decals are exact reproductions from Phoenix Graphix, including the \'455 HO\' emblems on the hood scoop, which Trans Am fans will find to be the car\'s most appealing feature. For a bit of show, the taillights are sequential LEDs that look stock until you hit the brakes or the sun goes down, and the effect is pretty darned slick. The list of new equipment inside is extensive, and the bottom line is that it\'s fresh and done mostly to factory specs throughout. New seat covers hug the supportive \"MEMORY FOAM\" buckets and show virtually zero use since the car was completed a few years ago. The carpets and headliner are also new and duplicate the original materials and patterns as well, keeping everything strictly OEM. The dash continued to use an engine-turned fascia, but sadly corporate policy stuck 1975 Pontiacs with wimpy 100 MPH speedometers with the thought that people wouldn\'t try to probe the car\'s outer limits. This car is loaded with options, too, including A/C, power windows and locks, and a newer AM/FM/CD stereo in the dash with a relatively rare factory 8-track proudly fitted at the top of the center console. All the glass is new, the window regulators inside are new, the trunk mat is new, and, well, you get the point. This sucker is fresh, fresh, fresh. Heck, even the clock works! While the 455 HO was plucked from the Bonneville assembly line and dressed up by the marketing department, there\'s no arguing with the torque production that only a big block motor can produce. Dressed in Pontiac Turquoise with chrome valve covers, it has the visuals down pat, and again the list of new components is extensive: power steering pump, A/C compressor, belts, hoses, thermostat, clutch, flywheel, axles, bearings, seals, and even the rear brake drums. A Rochester Quadrajet handles the intake side, while Hedman headers feed a Flowmaster exhaust system with correct chrome split tips. A Super T10 4-speed gearbox feeds power to a set of 3.42 gears so it cruises easily, but blasts through the gears in finest muscle car fashion. Factory \"honeycomb\" wheels look fantastic and wear new trim rings and center caps (with locks!) plus a set of 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials. This impressive restoration means that you don\'t have to do a thing before you start enjoying your new Trans Am. Call today! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
