[email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR Frame Up Restored 1968 Shelby GT500KR Convertible 428 Year: 1968 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Yellow Mileage: 9719 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 428 Cobra Jet V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle info People always wonder why the survival rate of even exceptional collector cars is so low. If these cars are so special, why didn't someone take better care of them? This special-order Speed Yellow 1968 Shelby GT500KR is unquestionably a spectacular car, but it was almost lost forever and presents an interesting case study in seeing the forest for the trees. Literally hours away from the crusher, it was rescued by someone who recognized its greatness where others saw nothing but a burned-out shell of an old Mustang. In 1978, even a Shelby GT500KR convertible (with AC!) was little more than a used car. Certain astute collectors at the time recognized that these were special cars, but they had not yet gathered the immense following they enjoy today. Even Carroll Shelby himself had turned his back on the Mustangs bearing his name years earlier, dismissing them as little more than interesting footnotes to the Mustang story. So when Shelby 03900 was stolen, stripped of its engine and transmission, then set on fire, there was no public outcry. And the original owner probably happily cashed the check the insurance company gave him as compensation. The stripped, burned-out carcass was hauled away to a local scrap yard called Twin Service in Anderson, Indiana, where it was scheduled to be crushed just like any other stripped, burned-out theft recovery. However, a sharp-eyed enthusiast spotted the body at Twin Service and immediately made his move. Noting the original Shelby fender tag was still intact and therefore knowing the car was a top-of-the-line GT500KR convertible, he arranged to purchase it for $500 just hours before it was slated to hit the crusher. He paid the wrecking service to drag the car to his home where he began an extensive restoration. In 1978, you could still order Shelby parts directly from Ford, so all new fiberglass OEM pieces were purchased to replace those that were destroyed by the fire. Other missing parts were tracked down and added to the growing collection of NOS equipment that would restore 03900 to its original condition. Sadly, that never happened, as even in 1978, the resources required to restore a Shelby Mustang, never mind one that was burned, were substantial. Eventually the car and all its associated parts were sold, bouncing from collector to collector for almost 20 years. By the late '90s, it had become pretty clear that the cost of restoring the car was insignificant compared to the value of a finished product, so at least one previous owner made a heroic effort to restore the car using a donor vehicle to supply items like the correct black interior and other irreplaceable parts. His workmanship must have been very, very good, because the pros at Custom Classics, who re-restored the car several years later, could find no trace of fire damage. When this Mustang landed at Custom Classics, many of the NOS parts acquired by the first restorer were still on the car and the remaining correct, authentic and original components were assembled to create an absolutely stunning convertible. The car itself is no less remarkable than its story. Originally delivered to Dallas, Texas, it carries special-order WT6066 yellow paint, factory AC, a C6 automatic transmission and a tilt steering column. It is 1 of only 20 Shelby convertibles painted WT6066 yellow and, of those, 1 of only 7 equipped with air conditioning. Custom Classics' spectacular restoration incorporated all the aforementioned NOS parts plus hundreds more that were painstakingly researched and properly date-coded. The paint is 2-stage urethane that exactly duplicates special order Bright Yellow and looks especially good under correct stripes and call-outs. Naturally, any flaws carried by the original fiberglass have been thoroughly exorcised (even after Ford took over Shelby production, the 'glass wasn't all that great). Panel alignment is exceptional, gaps are even all around and the car fits together better than any Mustang ever built by the factory. When it comes to trimmings, all the correct Shelby badges and lettering, including the awesome 428 Cobra Jet emblems, have been replaced with NOS or exact reproduction pieces. The tail panel, with correct Thunderbird sequential taillights, is beautifully finished in correct Argent Silver and, yes, those are real Lucas driving lights in the grille. Side marker lamps, new for 1968, are beautiful reproduction pieces, and the bumpers show better chrome than was humanly possible in 1968. All glass is new, stainless is polished and there's absolutely no detail on this drop-top that's been overlooked. The car is vastly nicer than new in every way! The incredible detailing extends under the hood, where a rebuilt, date-correct 428 Cobra Jet looks right at home. Rated at 335 horsepower, it's no secret that the mighty CJ actually made around 410 horsepower and 440 lb./ft. of stoplight-slaying torque. Bathed in rich Ford Blue, this particular mill features correct "COBRA" valve covers, functional ram-air and a complete thermactor system. The engine bay is dominated by a massive compressor for the AC system, which is fully functional and blows ice cold. Correct hoses, clamps, wiring, and clips were used throughout the engine compartment, resulting in a highly accurate, concours-ready appearance. An original radiator is perched up front, with a reproduction Autolite battery cover doing a very good impersonation of the real thing. And the mean motor rumbles to life easily, pulling with an endless well of torque that absolutely incinerates those skinny Goodyear tires. The chassis looks exactly factory correct as well. Red Oxide primer backs 'blown in' Bright Yellow paint, just like on the assembly line. The C6 automatic has been rebuilt and, like the engine, is correct for a Shelby GT500KR. Out back, there's a bulletproof Ford 9-inch that's fitted with 3.00 gears. Original factory markings have been reproduced, from the driveshaft balance stripes to the torque dobs on the suspension bolts. The original factory convertible reinforcements are in place. An exact reproduction exhaust system has been installed, complete with correct tips. A new gas tank hangs amid fully rebuilt brakes and suspension. Gorgeous 10-spoke Shelby alloys carry Goodyear bias-ply tires, although it appears that the car's spare is an original or NOS piece. The interior remains the one transplanted by the previous restorer. And, since it's far more correct and accurate than any reproduction kit available today, Custom Classics decided to leave it as-is. The seats are deep and comfortable, and we're inclined to agree with Custom Classics in their assessment-the reproduction seat covers don't have pleats that are as deep as those on an original car, and these sure look authentic. The Shelby Cobra logo on the center armrest is crisp and clear and not overstuffed-looking like the reproductions, and the woodgrain pattern on the dash and center console is excellent. We have to believe the carpets are reproductions, and they are correct in material and ply, protected by a set of rubber floor mats. The Rim Blow steering wheel is just too nice not to be a restored piece. And the gauges have clearly been rebuilt, with crisp markings, deep black backgrounds and brilliant orange pointers. In addition to being listed in the SAAC Registry with a known ownership history, original photos of this Mustang's scrapyard stay include images of an original Shelby fender tag that matches the one currently on the car. Here's a list of everything that's included with our sale:An original owner's manualA Deluxe Marti Auto Works ReportDozens of restoration photos provided by Custom ClassicsA letter from Jim Wicks, SAAC Regional Director and Event Chairman, who authenticated the car in January, 2007 saying: "...I have examined and inspected the above listed vehicle on several occasions in the process of the restoration. In a world of many "clones" and "recreations" I feel strongly that this car is XXXX-03900, the 3900th 1968 Shelby Mustang built for 1968. I feel this vehicle has received a high-quality restoration and could be considered for anyone's investment grade collection, display, or museum..." In summary, this is a thoroughbred Shelby with a concours-quality restoration. The parts are correct in every way possible given the car's unique history. As far as investments go, it's awfully hard to beat a Shelby GT500KR convertible with a special-order color and a ton of options. Blue chip doesn't even begin to cover this convertible's status! And, while it's our job to facilitate transactions that make car enthusiasts' dreams come true, we also enjoy telling guests about the legendary metal that adorns our massive Charlotte showroom. That's why we simply couldn't wait to tell you about this awesome Raven Black fastback! Fully documented, wearing a fresh restoration and featuring a killer 428/3-speed drivetrain, this Ford is an excellent example of one of the finest muscle cars ever produced. And if you're a discerning enthusiast who demands the very best in high caliber, investment grade classics, it's the story you've been patiently waiting to hear! BODYWORK/TRIM Delivered to Healy Motors of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, this awesome Shelby likely spent very little time in the showroom before its big power and big style were unleashed on big city streets. After roughly four decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free driving, the car received a ground-up restoration that included stripping and reworking each of its solid panels. Once those laser-straight lines and super-smooth surfaces were adequately prepped, correct Raven Black base was buried in thick clear and decorated with precise GT500 KR side stripes. And today, this razor-sharp Shelby rolls as a first-class showpiece that can anchor any serious muscle car collection or hedge any major investment portfolio. The GT500 threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, but also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang styling cues ever created. At the front of this KR, a stainless-trimmed grille hangs big Lucas driving lamps between clear Ford headlights, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to a correct fiberglass hood, which is founded in mirror-like stainless and like-new glass. At the sides of that glass, a straight profile hangs small scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and subtle fender extensions around traditional door handles, correct chrome mirrors and dent-free rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct taillights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and a correct, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. ENGINE Now that you've waded through all the flowery prose about paint and trim, it's time to get down to business. Lift the car's lightweight hood and you'll find 428 cubic inches of Ford V8 that's been completely rebuilt from its big 4-barrel carburetor all the way down to its (D) April 17th (17), 1967 (7) casting date. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crankshaft, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a "COBRA JET" branded air cleaner over a high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle-finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. The fires are lit by a familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a stock radiator, which circulates water through pliable FoMoCo hoses. And charging is provided by squeak-free belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator and correct power steering via simple black pulleys. Aesthetically, the clean engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's tagged Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank, appears fully sorted and ready to show. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find exceedingly clean floors that are every bit as solid as the body's straight exterior panels. The tough C6 3-speed, one of 523 bolted under 1968 KRs, spins a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.50 gears. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, sturdy leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a clean stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, fresh exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. Power meets the ground through 215/65R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As, which are wrapped around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. And everything, from the car's stainless fluid lines to its "COBRA" branded oil pan, appears safe, lucid and ready to roll. INTERIOR Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed, chrome-trimmed steering wheel. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer beside a correct Philco radio and requisite Carroll Shelby autograph. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby branded sill plates. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar perfectly complements a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, pliable door panels feature bright stainless trim, spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And, while it's our job to facilitate transactions that make car enthusiasts' dreams come true, we also enjoy telling guests about the legendary metal that adorns our massive Charlotte showroom. So, when the ink dried on the $180K contract to our super rare GT500KR convertible it's fair to say we were all a little bummed. That's why we simply couldn't wait to tell you about this awesome Wimbledon White coupe! Fully documented, wearing all-original sheetmetal and featuring an original 428/4-speed drivetrain, this Ford is an excellent example of one of the finest muscle cars ever produced. And if you're a discerning enthusiast who demands the very best in high caliber, investment grade classics, it's the Shelby you've been patiently waiting for! 1 of only 530 4-speed KR fastbacks produced for the 1968 model year, this stellar pony car sports a mere 95,518 original miles. Here's a thorough breakdown of the car's Elite Marti Auto Works Report: SERIAL NUMBER: 8T02RXXXXXX-XXXXX DOOR PLATE:8 - 1968 model yearT - Assembled in Metuchen, New Jersey02 Shelby FastbackR - 428-4V CJ Engine GT-500KRXXX,XXXth Mustang scheduled for production at Ford's Metuchen assembly plantX,XXXrd Shelby scheduled for production63B Shelby FastbackM - Ford #1619-A Wimbledon White paint5AA Black Knitted Dcor bucket seats24E - Scheduled for build on May 24th, 19688D2910 Home Office Reserve ordering district under Domestic Special Order number 29107 - 3.00 Traction-Lok axle ratio5 4-speed manual transmission OPTIONS:GT Equipment GroupVisibility GroupSport Deck rear seatPower steeringPower front disc brakesTilt-Away steering columnAir conditionerAM radioInterior Dcor GroupTinted glass Delivered to Kenray Ford in Dallas, Texas, this awesome Shelby likely spent very little time in the showroom before its big power and big style were unleashed on big city streets. After roughly three decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free driving, the car received a ground-up, rotisserie restoration that included stripping and reworking each of its original panels. Once those laser-straight lines and super-smooth surfaces were adequately prepped, correct Wimbledon White was buried in thick clearcoat and decorated with precise GT500 KR side stripes. And today, this Shelby is a first class show piece that can anchor any serious muscle car collection or hedge any major investment portfolio. The GT500 threw fuel on the muscle car fire by not only adding power, but also introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang styling cues ever created. At the front of this KR, a stainless-trimmed grille hangs big Lucas driving lamps behind clear Ford headlights, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to a correct fiberglass hood, which is founded in mirror-like stainless and correctly tinted glass. At the sides of that glass, a straight profile hangs small scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and subtle fender extensions around traditional door handles, a correct chrome mirror and dent-free rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct tail lights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and a correct, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. Now that you've waded through all the flowery prose about paint and stainless trim, it's time to get down to business. Lift this Ford's lightweight hood and you'll find the original, 428 cubic inch Cobra Jet V8 that's been completely rebuilt from its correct 4174 Holley all the way down to its (E) May 1st (14), 1968 (8) casting date. Long regarded as one of the most iconic Ford mills ever created, the new-for-1968 428 FE utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy duty rods, a nodular crankshaft and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a correctly decaled air cleaner over a correct, high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. Fire is provided by a familiar points distributor, which sequences spark between a fresh Autolite coil and new Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling is provided by a stock radiator, which circulates water through pliable FoMoCo hoses. And charging is provided by squeak-free belts, which spin an Autolite alternator, correct power steering and factory air conditioning via simple black pulleys. Aesthetically, the clean engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's strong Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank, is fully-sorted and ready to show. Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find exceedingly clean floors that are every bit as solid as the body's straight exterior panels. The original Toploader 4-speed, which is branded with a correct RUG AE build stamp, spins a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.00 gears inside a familiar Ford 9-inch. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt double A-arm suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, sturdy leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a standard stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, an aluminized, true-dual exhaust system funnels spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. Power flows to the pavement via E70-15 Goodyear Speedway 350s, which are wrapped around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. And everything, from the car's orange shocks to its over-sprayed floors, appears safe, lucid and ready to roll. Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed and chrome-trimmed steering wheel which spins around a tilting column. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer above a correct Philco radio. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby branded sill plates and color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar perfectly complements a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, pliable door panels feature bright stainless trim, spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And at the back of the cockpit, a fully restored trunk features a new mat, a fresh decklid decal and a full-size spare tire. That's really all we need to say to build excitement for our latest investment grade Ford. Of course, the car HAS benefitted from a professional, rotisserie restoration that was completed in May of 2015. So I guess that bumps the word count to eight with: rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR. Then again, it's also a fully documented piece, which lands us at: fully documented, rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR. But wait, I almost forgot about its gleaming coat of killer Lime Gold pigment. So how about: fully documented, rotisserie restored Shelby Nationals Concours Heritage Gold GT500KR that's decked in correct Lime Gold 2-stage? Yeah, that sounds good. But trust us, if you like the sound of that sentence, you're going to LOVE the car it describes! BODYWORK/TRIM According to Ford expert Kevin Marti, this registry-listed Shelby was produced on May 14th, 1968 and delivered down south to Rivers Ford of Monroe, Louisiana. After four decades of excellent maintenance and accident-free living, the car was purchased by its present owner and enjoyed as a solid driver. As we all know, drivers are fun, and the car racked up quite a few MCA Concours awards in that state, but sometimes it's just better to take things to the next level. So, in 2014, this clean Mustang benefitted from a professional, rotisserie restoration that was completed by Shelby specialist Tim Lea of North Andover, Massachusetts. When the car emerged from the shop in May of 2015, everything was 100% correct all the way down to original, assembly-spec oil and air filters. And today, sporting correct Lime Gold Metallic 2-stage under familiar Shelby side stripes, it rolls as a first-class showpiece that secured a Gold at the 2015 Ford/Shelby Nationals in the Concours Heritage Class, and a Silver at SAAC 40 in Division II Concours judging. Naturally, a build this extensive involved quite a bit of original bolt-ons that, according to this KR's owner, were professionally re-plated as needed. At the front of the car, original fiberglass centers a stainless-trimmed grille behind clear Ford headlights, big Lucas driving lamps, a bright chrome bumper and bullet-style parking lamps. At the top of that grille, a familiar "S H E L B Y" script leads the eye to an original fiberglass hood, which is founded beneath mirror-like stainless and a SuperGlass-massaged greenhouse. At the sides of that greenhouse, a straight profile hangs original scoops, ornate Cobra Jet emblems and original fender extension around traditional door handles, a correct chrome mirror and NOS rocker guards. And at the back of that profile, a smooth silver valence centers correct taillights and a detailed fuel filler between a second chrome bumper, bright reverse lamps, KR-exclusive exhaust tips and an original, "S H E L B Y" branded decklid. ENGINE While the car's professionally rebuilt engine isn't original equipment, it is a highly accurate, date-correct 428. Long regarded as one of the most iconic mills ever created, factory-supplied Cobra Jets utilized a strengthened medium block, heavy-duty rods, a nodular crank, and larger valves and ports to produce an advertised 335 horsepower. At the top of the engine, ram air cowl induction centers a correct, SM8S-equipped air cleaner over a date-correct carburetor and high performance intake. At the sides of that intake, cast iron heads hang crinkle-finish Cobra LeMans valve covers over fully restored exhaust manifolds. The fires are lit by a familiar points distributor, which sequences sparks through fresh Autolite Radio Resistance plug wires. Cooling comes courtesy of a re-cored radiator, which circulates water through pliable Autolite hoses and vintage screw clamps. And charging is provided by squeak-free V-belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator between correct power steering and correct smog equipment. Aesthetically, the marked and decaled engine bay appears very close to original, featuring an even combination of Satin Black and Ford Blue paint. And everything, from the car's factory brake booster and fresh Autolite battery to its tidy Ford washer tank and fresh Autolite voltage regulator, is fully sorted and ready to show. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Take a look under this Mustang and you'll find correct, Oxide Red floors that are such a close interpretation of the car's original foundation that they back correct Lime Gold overspray with factory-accurate paint drips. A tough C6 3-speed utilizes a correctly marked Dead Nuts On driveshaft to spin a correct Traction-Lok differential around correct 3.50 gears. At the front of that drivetrain, a rebuilt suspension centers a beefy sway bar and the aforementioned power steering between correct power disc brakes. At the back of that drivetrain, correct C7ZA leaf springs hang correct drum brakes at the edges of a clean stainless fuel tank. At the center of that suspension, fresh exhaust pipes funnel spent gases through an H-shaped crossover, small resonators and a transversely mounted muffler. And power meets the ground through E70-15 Kelsey repros, which wrap correct, KR-exclusive black sidewalls around appropriate Shelby 10-spokes. INTERIOR Naturally, Ol' Shel focused most of his energy on the performance and appearance of America's most revered pony car. And when those attributes were combined with Ford's already excellent interior, it paid big dividends. The first thing you'll notice is a snazzy wood-rimmed and chrome-trimmed steering wheel. Behind that wheel, a great looking dash frames a correct 140 MPH speedometer and 8,000 RPM tachometer beside a correct Philco radio. Opposite that dash, knitted vinyl seats are in spectacular shape, presenting hardly any evidence of use. Between those seats, a full-length console anchors small Stewart Warner accessory gauges in front of a slick Shelby shifter and correct, cobra-branded armrest. Beneath that console, like-new carpet rides tight between Shelby-branded sills. Opposite that carpet, a Shelby-spec roll bar and decaled sun visors perfectly complement a fresh headliner. At the base of that roll bar, which serves as a requisite foundation for Python-restored seatbelts, pliable door panels mix bright stainless trim and spotless chrome handles and clean wood accents. And at the back of the cockpit, a fully restored trunk sandwiches a matching Kelsey spare between a new mat and fresh decklid decal. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1968 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500KR 1 of 7 SAAC Documented Restored Shelby GT500KR Convertible 428 Cobra Jet V8 C6 Year: 1968 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Yellow Mileage: 9719 Transmission type: 3 Speed Automatic Engine: 428 Cobra Jet V8 Interior color: Black Vehicle Info People always wonder why the survival rate of even exceptional collector cars is so low. No accident, no paintwork, perfect history report/garage queen. Nicely equipped with all the goodies you want like Leather, Sunroof, Heated Seats, 20" wheels and of course a 6 Speed manual. What really makes this car stand out is the nearly $5,000 in bolt on, professionally installed mods. Like all modern day muscle cars these days - they sit too high so some Eibach Sportline Springs brought the car down just under 2" for a perfect rake. Next up was sound and not just a $300 muffler job: Borla XR1 Headers & Borla ATAK Catless Exhaust. To round off the sound & better breathing, a Diablo Tuner & K&N Cold Air Intake. All stock parts are included with sale in the event you wanted to go back to stock. Rounding out the appearance to match the sound/performance was full tint all around and the factory Chrome 20's (in perfect condition) done in matte black Plasti-Dip to toughen up the look. Easy remove/back to Chrome job if desired. Cosmetics are outstanding & the factory metallic black paint doesn't do itself justice in these pics until you catch it in the direct sunlight in person. Never smoked in, never eaten in, interior like new. Only thing worth mentioning is the Catless exhaust will throw codes 0420 & 0430 (cat error messages) on occasion as pictured below. Since then, we have solidified ourselves as an expert in the realm of the motor sport industry. We are a family owned and operated business since 1981, taking pride in our fine selection of low mileage motorcars. Every one of our vehicles is hand-picked by the owner to maintain consistency and to make sure that they meet our high standard of quality. D&M Motorsports has made a name for itself locally through word of mouth, prestigious car shows such as BLOOMINGTON GOLD and extensive internet exposure around the country and world. With a strong dealer network that spans from Germany to South Africa, D&M has worldwide presence. We are known for having the nicest and most pristine inventory around. D&M Motorsports decided that through the use of EBAY, we can let the rest of the country and world experience what D&M has to offer. Our EBAY business operates with the same mind set of taking care of customers and offering them the best quality of cars. We purchase our inventory so that the person that buys our vehicles over the phone will be just as impressed as the person that actually puts their hands on it before buying. The "pushy salesmen" stigma does not exist at D&M. Our approach is to take a "Consultative" role in helping our customers purchase a dream car or "toy". We are proud to have been chosen to be the authorized Campagna dealer in the Midwest. In addition to Campagna, we specialize in a large selection of specialty cars such as SUPERFORMANCE and PANOZ. Our spacious 20,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art indoor showroom always houses over 60+ cars in stock including a wide variety of Vipers, Prowlers, Corvettes, Porsches, Ferrari’s, Lamborghini's and Lotus. Our staff consist of multiple sales consultants, a full-time professional detailer, a professional full-time photographer and other administrators that make the D&M experience what it is. Our staff has a combined experience of over 100 years of buying and selling fine automobiles. Ask around, our reputation and 100% eBay feedback speaks for itself. We will pick up our customers at either Midway or O'Hare airport when they fly-in. We welcome you to the pickiest auto dealership around. Check out our website and see what other unique cars we offer to our customers. DMAUTOSALES.COM In addition to our 100% eBay feedback, here are a few testimonials from some of our customers: I would just like to say what a great job that all of you did in helping me with the purchase of my 1995 six speed Competition Yellow Corvette Convertible, I was very nervous about making such a large internet purchase. Bob and Mike were very courteous and patient with all my questions and concerns. They described the vehicle with the utmost integrity. I could not ask for better service from these guys. To top it off, my delivery driver Tom brought the vehicle and treated it with kid gloves. He was very kind and pleasant and carefully brought the car right to my front door in the time frame he had told me. My family and I really enjoyed talking and exchanging stories with him. I wanted to write this to let you know how much I love the car and tell all you guys what great service you gave me. Jim, Pennsylvania - 1995 Chevrolet Corvette We had a great experience with D&M Motorsports buying a corvette, we took Amtrak into Chicago and were picked up by Dave and Angie and they made us feel like old friends. The Corvette we bought was all and more that was shown to us on their internet site. Everything they did for us was first class and I have all the confidence in the world sending someone to them to buy a car as we did over the internet . Thanks again. Mike & Carol, Michigan - 2002 Corvette Convertible In December 2011 I purchase a 2004 Boxster from D&M Motorsports. I had been looking for a low mileage used Boxster for a couple of years and this one seemed too good to be true. The price was less than what was being asked from private sellers but I did not have time to travel to Chicago to take a test drive. Regardless, I decided to buy the car. They assured me the car was everything as represented on their web site. D&M delivered the car to Suwanee Georgia as part of the original purchase price and I was amazed - it really was better than represented on their web site. They walked me through the remote buying process and responded on a timely basis to all of my requests. I recommend D&M Motorsports to one and all for their professionalism and customer service (and by the way - the Boxster is a blast). Fred, Georgia - 2004 Porsche Boxster We live in Naples Fl…it was a little unsettling purchasing a car off the internet… but D&M Motorsports were professional from the first call all the way to the delivery of our car.  They helped us through the entire process and went above and beyond with all the paperwork. The car was shipped and we had possession in a few short days. Best of all, the car was exactly how they described it… perfect condition. They gave us a fair value for our 2004 Corvette and we are in love with our 2008 Corvette. We highly recommend D&M Motorsports. Joan, Florida - 2008 Corvette Convertible The 2007 Porsche Boxster arrived safely to our residence at approximately 5:00 PM on Thursday evening, May 10, 2012 as promised. This masculine, meticulously detailed shiny convertible rolled off the enclosed trailer ready to roll, it even sported a nice Birthday card in the glove compartment. What a nice little gesture, THANK YOU :) ! My experience thus far with D&M Motorsports has been superior, beginning with the initial visit through the delivery to my home yesterday, nearly 5 weeks from the day I test drove the Porsche Boxster. Your courteous and friendly business approach sold me from the minute I arrived on your lot and entered your immaculate showroom floor. And honestly Angie, you have made this an exceptional experience by your attentive interaction. Please accept my sincere gratitude for keeping everything rolling along smoothly, even in the midst of a delay or two on my part. Thank you! Jim, Iowa - 2007 Porsche Boxster I had a completely great experience. From the time Dave met me at the Chicago O'Hare airport until the time I drove away in my almost new (2005 corvette), I couldn't have asked for more. The car was exactly as advertised and what I expected. It was like a new car! This is a family owned and operated business and I felt like I was treated like family.  It is great people like this who make successful businesses, not the U. S. Government.  I wish D & M Motorsports the greatest success in their business and many happy successful years. Philip, Georgia - 2005 Corvette Coupe I purchased a used vehicle sight unseen from D&M and had it shipped to my door. Part of the reason I bought sight unseen is because of the reviews I read. I have to say, the entire experience was exceptional. They were very prompt and accurate at answering my inquires. Even though there were many pictures of the vehicle already provided, additional photos were taken of the vehicle and e-mailed to me. When the vehicle arrived at my door, it was EXACTLY as described. I would do business with them again....A+ !!! Thank you! Brian, North Carolina - 1996 Viper GTS I had been wanting a Shelby gt500 since they started coming back out. it took me many years to save the money needed to buy this car. I always wanted the grabber blue with white stripes. When I found the one D&M had for sale I knew I wanted the car because it was 2010 grabber blue with red stripe ( never seen the combo before ) I always said I would never buy a car sight unseen but everything just felt right. They were great, helpful and most of all not pushy. I took a big risk in buying this car because if any issues It would take me a long time to save again. Worry no more, car arrived and is unbelievable. It was as advertised if not better. Still has new car smell and it has 9,300 miles. I can’t be happier that I made this decision. Also of note had minor setback with missing wheel lock key and notified D&M to see if they had it. They never found it but offered to pay for replacement. Being that's the only misstep I think they came through with flying colors (grabber blue of course) did a little research and did find out this color combo is low production and was also the color combo picked by no other then Mr. Carroll Shelby himself. Thanks D&M  Kristian, Florida - 2010 Shelby GT500 My name is Jim and I have been collecting cars for over 46 years. During that time I have had over 12 Corvettes and during the last 3 years I have been collecting High end classic cars. After working on a friends Corvette I got the bug to get another Corvette. I went to the internet site of D&M Motorsports . Their site has all High Def photos that are taken by a professional photographer and I found a pristine 1993 40th Anniversary Corvette with only 1,300 documented miles. I went up to D&M and Dave handled the sale. We settled on a price and I purchased the car that day. Because of the low miles on the car Dave arranged with Mike to deliver the car in an enclosed trailer to my home. Mike is the President & owner of D&M yet he took the time to deliver the car himself. In 67 years I have never taken the time to write a review on anyone, but D&M is truly special. Kevin & Angie were also fun to talk with and my entire experience was like hanging out with good friends. I went back to pick up my plates and ended up buying a 2001 Vette. The truly unusual part of this deal was Mike took my pristine 1940 Chevy coupe in on trade. D&M is a High end sports car and Corvette dealer yet he took an antique car in on trade just to close the deal. I have been back several times just to wander their fantastic show room because every week they get in four or five different cars. Don't take my word for it check out their great website and if you are in the Chicago area stop in and meet them. D&M stands for "Devoted Management."  Jim, Illinois - 1993 Corvette Convertible & 2001 Corvette Coupe My name is George W, I'm 65 years old, and always had a yearning for a corvette. I started looking at web sites just to see what was out there and came across D & M. The photos and detailed description of each car is outstanding and gives you a feel for the vehicle. I was a total novice and didn't have a clue what to look for or what questions to ask. I spoke with Angie and she was very helpful in explaining the different models and options. I pretty much zeroed in on one car, thought about it for a couple of days and called her back and ordered it. Everything was professionally handled over the phone or internet. The car had to be transported 600 miles, the first transporter didn't have the proper equipment, so D&M refused to load my car and arranged for a second transporter. The car arrived on a Sunday and Angie called to make sure everything was as expected and that I was totally satisfied. I couldn't be happier, the whole experience with D&M was pleasant and professional. George, Tennesse - 2008 Corvette Coupe I have purchased cars online previously, but no other dealer achieved the professionalism, courtesy, or value that D & M Motorsports provided. They were very knowledgeable of the vehicles they were selling, they provided quality service in terms of the needed paperwork for my loan documents, and they assisted in setting up the transportation. They are well organized and focused on customer service - they were quick to return my phone calls and willing to assist through the entire selection and purchasing process. In addition, the value of the vehicle I purchased was second to none. The Porsche 911 arrived without issue and actually exceeded my expectations. I was referred to D & M Motorsport by my boss who said "they were the best" if I was looking for a high performance vehicle, He was right! Dave and Angie are a great team. Thanks!!  Phil, Virginia - 2000 Porsche 911 This was the easiest transaction I have ever completed. I saw a Maserati online that sparked some interest and eventually I sent an inquiry over to D&M. From that moment, Angie and the rest of D & M took care of me like I was family. Angie and the staff were more than generous with their time giving me more information than requested. Also, the quality of the vehicles they have in stock are beyond belief. The vehicle I purchased was the cleanest used vehicle I have ever seen! Beyond appearance was the fact that the cars history not only checked out but, was as clean as the vehicle itself. Everything about this experience was top notch and I would recommend D & M to anyone looking for a car. The staff is courteous and eager to help you make buying a car as easy as possible. I would suggest you check out D & M if you want high quality from an extremely knowledgeable and friendly dealer.  Chris, Chicago - 2006 Maserati It is not my custom to do reviews since I have very little faith in the whole review process. Either you're so mad at the product or the seller you write a scathing report or you're so enthralled 2 days after you buy you gush with enthusiasm. No one seems to take the time to evaluate and come to a proper review to help the people looking for information. So I hope my words will be of value for a potential customer. I started looking for a Corvette in October of 2013 all over the Midwest and D & M Motorsports was just one of the dealers I pestered for 4 months, in those months I met with Angie and Dave checking out the cars I previously viewed and all their new arrivals. At no time was I pressured to purchase and every meeting was cordial and all my questions were answered no matter how long it took. In February 2014 they got in the car I wanted and I made an offer they agreed too and with the contingency I could have the car checked out. Not only did they agree to my terms they even stored the car for a month till the weather broke and at no charge. The whole experience was 1st class and I was never treated better by a dealer new or used. I believe you have to remember you are dealing with used cars and anything can happen, which is not necessarily the fault of the seller. From the vehicles I looked at D & M all were in excellent shape and quality. The detailing of each car is outstanding and if you view the website and see the pictures you will see what I mean. I have been driving the car for over two months and again I am happy with my purchase and experience; please do your due-diligence and I think you will have the same results.  Frank, Illinois - 2007 Corvette Convertible I believe that "trust" is key when it comes to buying car especially in the case of purchasing a car remotely. The only thing that I had to go on was provided pics over the web and a friendly voice on the other end of the line. But I assure you in a world of small shifty dealerships these guys are NOT THAT! I trust them (which is something that I never thought that I would say about a car dealer). The 2005 lotus that they sold me looks the same if not better sitting in my garage as they did in the pictures. The car runs great and is mint! It is one the finest examples of a low mile Elise that I had come across. They welcome 3rd party inspections and in that case as well the car passed with a perfect score. In short if you are going to "trust" someone with a purchase of a exotic car these are your "go to" guys.  Dave and Angie were super professional. I asked for a lot and they were not only able but excited to help. That was another interesting point: they really love what they do and it shows! Easy... Getting your hands on a top-notch super roadster which has serious collector pedigree and can handily dispatch pretty much anything on the road! As the original mind blowing land rocket for gear heads who desire ultimate performance and want to be seen in the best car money can buy, the Dodge Viper has been a poster child of audacious American attitude since 1991. And this 2004 Viper SRT-10 is a low mileage, all original Mopar halo which mixes the best virtues of world class performance with the open air freedom of a drop top exotic. Virtually new in every way, this pristine 2004 SRT-10 roadster is coated in Viper Bright Silver Metallic paint which, unlike most modern cars, displays a fantastic wet-look finish and super smooth reflections. As is the case with most Vipers, this car has been a meticulously cared for toy rather than a daily driver or a weekend track weapon; and as a result, has led a very easy life which involved a minimum of sunny day driving and a lifetime of climate controlled storage. Naturally, fit and finish are exceptionally good with composite body panels that show no signs of age-related stress, and a glossy, smooth paint job which is nice enough to adorn the fenders of a painstakingly restored show car. Inspired by the classic lines of the Shelby Cobra roadster and the modern flair of Dodge's own Stealth performance coupe, the Viper was an absolutely revolutionary design when it debuted, and is still considered an exotic today. The front of the car centers a menacing Dodge crosshair grille between, clear HID headlights and fog lights. At the top of that grille, a striking Viper emblem leads your eye to the cars functional ram air hood which features heat extractors on either side. Behind that hood, pristine factory glass which is bordered by body-matched mirrors and unique B-pillar mounted door handles is topped by a black convertible soft top. At the sides of the car, aggressively sculpted doors and chip-free fiberglass rockers sit between super wide rear fenders, side pipe exhausts, and body-matched "Viper SRT-10" emblems. At the back of the car, showroom fresh tail lights hang above a stylized rear bumper, which features body-matched "Dodge" and "Viper" scripts. The engine under this cars massivehood needs no introduction. Displacing a massive 8.3 liters and turning a stout 9.6 to 1 compression ratio into 500 horsepower at 5,600RPMS and 525 lb./ft. of torque, this 507 cubic inch aluminum beast is one of the most outrageous powerplants ever bolted between the fenders of a production car. Dodge designers knew the big mill would be the cars focal point, so they went out of their way to dress it up a bit by coating the ram tuned aluminum intake manifold and cast aluminum valve covers in a slick coat of bright red paint and menacing Viper logos. In fact, it's such an impressive piece that I'm really surprised the Mopar guys didn't put a Lexan window in the hood like Team Corvette did for the ZR1. This Viper's big engine is absolutely immaculate from its dual throttle bodies all the way down to its aluminum oil pan, tubular stainless exhaust manifolds and regularly refreshed fluids; and everything under its hood is showroom fresh and looks as clean as the day the car rolled out of the 'snake pit' in Detroit. Underneath the car, you'll find a spotless chassis, that's complete with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to a limited slip differential. The combination of the three is able to push the Viper to a sub 12 second quarter-mile time of 11.77 at 123.68mph. However the independent front and rear suspension also impressed critics when it was first unveiled and meant that on a skid pad the Viper was able to push to 1.05g. At the corners of the car, power four wheel disc brakes, which come equipped with both standard electronic distribution and a state-of-the-art anti-lock system, squeeze "Viper" branded dual piston calipers around 13 inch rotors. And keeping all this thoroughbred hardware rolling down the road is a handsome set of 18 inch and 19 inch polished aluminum wheels which wear Michelin rubber. Inside, this Viper features a fresh black interior that places an emphasis on simplicity and performance above all else. The leather and suede bucket seats are so comfortable that Dodge actually licensed their design as an office chair. In front of the seats a large dash, holds clear white-face gauges above a crystal clear 6-disk CD changer; and between the seats, a chrome shifter holds a leather shift knob above buttons for the car's power windows and a leather wrapped emergency brake handle. Below the seats, Viper logo floor mats protect like-new carpet. Connecting the driver to the road is a nice leather wrapped, three spoke steering wheel. And behind the cockpit, the fully finished trunk is all business with a jack, a compact spare tire and just enough space to store a couple of car show chairs. Included in the sale of this incredible low mileage viper, is a stack of service receipts showing its pampered life so far, original owner's manual, original warranty documentation, and original maintenance logbook. Modern performance vehicles like this 2004 SRT 10 Viper are about as much fun as you can have on four wheels! I can't think of many 'grown up' toys that are better suited to the job of simply making the driver smile; and putting a toy like this in your garage is about the most fun you'll ever have investing in your future. Don't miss this excellent opportunity to ink a deal on a car that, even ten years off the showroom floor, is one of the fastest and most exclusive machines on the road!
