Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe manufactured by Superformance - This is number 65 of 150 made. These Superformance Daytona Coupes are now licensed and sold by Caroll Shebly and Shelby Inc as Shelby Cobra Datyona or CSX9 Mk II series. This licensing agreement allows the 150 Superformance Daytona Coupe's MK 1's and the CSX9's MK II to be registered in the Cobra registry as Cobras. Titled / Licensed: Registered in the state of California under the much sought after and DMV time consuming SB100 as a 1965 SPC-065 Daytona Coupe. Which equates to no emission testing for life of the car. For over seas buyers do to its Title designated year of manufacturer of 1965 it avoids costly import fees do to its Classic car status. This car was hand made by Superformance in 2004. Power train: Roush 427R engine # 069 (550 horses/ 535 ft/lbs torque), 770 Holley carburetor. Dart 4-bolt main block, forged crank, forged rods, Roush aluminum heads with stainless steel valves, Holley 770 carburetor, polished engine package. Very street-able and runs extremely strong on 91 octane pump gas. Tremec TKO 600 five-speed transmission connected to a BTR/Dana HydraTrac LSD limited-slip differential with a fully IRS. Braking system & Steering: Four wheel vented-disc brakes with power-assisted PBR calipers; power-assisted rack & pinion steering. Engine cooling: Aluminum radiator water and oil cooling with auto or manual over ride triple radiator and engine compartment exit fans. Exterior: Show quality PPG paint then clear coated then front end was 3M filmed for stone guard protection, 18" cast alloy pin-drive knockoff wheels with safety wired spinners. Ceramic-coated headers & side pipes. Color is Royal Blue with Wimbledon White twin stripes and a rear half cove with the car number on the rear. Chassis: Round-tube mild steel space frame with fully independent suspension & coil-over Bilstein shocks. Cockpit: Moto-Lita leather wrapped steering wheel, period correct Stewart Warner gauges, short-throw shifter, German leather bucket seat with inflatable lumbar supports, Alcantara headliner, doors and dash upholstery, TFE Air Conditioning system, glove box autographed by Peter Brock. As mentioned above Carroll Shelby and Shelby Inc contracted with Superformance to resell their Daytona Coupes as a Shelby CSX9 Daytona Coupes. They are ALL hand made in South Africa by Hi Tec also known as Superformance in the USA. They are the same size inside and out. They are the same car. My series are commonly known as MK I and the newer versions are known as MK II. The differences between MK I and MK II are: Added power Windows. Mk I have roll up. Added outside Door handles. Mk I have remote key fob that pop opens the doors. Removed the inside door opening buttons by center console dash cowl that are on Mk 1. Moved inside door handles locks on MK I. Deep dish wheels. Removal of original period correct side air scoop behind each door window. Added Shelby CSX 9 script to every thing they could. Peter Brock designed the original and the MK I Daytona Coupes. This licensing is also done with the Shelby Aluminum Roadster which are hand made in Poland under licensing from Kirkham of Utah who sells them to Shelby Inc and then Shelby sells them as Shelby Aluminum Roadsters.

This Superformance Daytona Coupe was re-created by the original Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe designer Peter Brock for Superformance and now Shelby Inc. The new chassis and suspension was designed by the original Daytona Coupe and GT40 engineer Bob Negstad. This GT is a lineal descendent of the Peter Brock designed Daytona & LeMans track star in the Cobra racing stable.
