The Viper was introduced to the market in January of 1992 as the RT/10 Roadster and remained that until Daimler Chrysler’s street and racing group completely redesigned the Viper in 2002 naming it the Viper SRT – 10. The newly designed SRT – 10 had a restyled exterior as well as performance upgrades, the engine’s displacement was increased to 8.3 L (506 Cubic Inch) which increased power ratings to 500 Hp and 525 lb. ft. torque at the same time as a nearly 500 lb. reduction in weight. The chassis was also improved becoming more rigid and weighing approximately 80 lbs. less than the previous model.
