I did not receive records with the car so will describe what I see and what I was told. 48XXX original miles (per previous owner) with approximately 10K on SBC engine rebuild... 4 speed auto with Posi rear. Rust free with really nice custom paint job... pearl white with beautiful quality flames (under hood as well!!). Freshly serviced and tuned this cool little cruiser runs/drives great!... nice power off the line and will cruise hiway speeds all day. Definite daily driver capable... Excellent weekend cruiser or addition to any collection. It's a driver not a trailer queen and will hold its own at cruises and local shows... Body is super super straight with no collision damage that I can see. West Coast car is amazingly clean and straight underneath!!... Excellent driver quality custom paint presents beautifully with only some minor blemishes. Nicely done rims and bullet caps... trim and moldings are nice. Windshield has a few chips. Interior is nice as well in a surfwagon style. Nicely redone seat with belts... Gauges, heat, and electronics work properly. Dash has cracks under the cover... Headliner is good but has a seam splitting in the very back and a couple of the door panels could use some love... no big deal. Straight floor in back (factory I'm told)... Very comfortable to cruise in. Rebuilt SBC Motor starts, runs, and idles excellent...has some nice standard performance mods... 4 speed auto trans... Posi Rear has great all around gearing. Suspension feels good and brakes stop straight and sure. Nice Driver. Overall this is a nice little cruiser all around... it is well preserved and tastefully modified. WORLDWIDE SHIPPING AVAILABLE! 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII 2-Door Wagon 1 of only 5,231 ever produced Rare 2 door configuration Very Original Car Excellent Driver and a Perfect Restoration Candidate Super Solid Body and Chassis Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868, under the name of the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the company was originally a producer of farm wagons, also producing for the military, and for miners. Fast forward to 1926, Studebaker was the first automobile manufacturer in the United States to open a controlled outdoor proving ground on which, in 1937, 5,000 pine trees were planted that spelled "STUDEBAKER" when viewed from the air. In the 1960s, Studebaker began to diversify away from automobiles. Many companies were purchased, bringing Studebaker into different fields like the manufacture of tire studs and missile components. 55 years later this Lark Wagon still stands tall with almost all of the original trim still intact and present with the car. The panel gaps are consistent and look great. There is no door safe and all moveable panels close tight and straight. This car has so much originality that it needs to be seen in person to full appreciate it. The grilles and both chrome bumpers are straight and shiny and show almost no pitting at all. The headlights and tail lamps are in fine working condition, and as transparent as ever. The windshield has minimal rock chips if any at all. The windshield wipers aren't operational at the moment, and we have yet to look into them. The passenger sliding windows still open smoothly and the glass looks original and nice. The paint is tired as it appears to be original inside and out. We detect some surface rust around the roof trim as you can see in the pictures however the metals throughout appear very solid. There's a good sized knot on the lower quarter panel as you can see but otherwise this example is nice and straight, and unusually original. All emblems are present! The leather interior and headliner, are in near perfect condition, a vibrant crimson color, the stitching on the black leather dashboard is still in wonderful condition. The gauges and trim look fantastic and show just the perfect amount of patina. The door panels and hardware all show in excellent condition as do the seats and rear folding parts. The carpet is tired but help prove the cars originality. The stereo is an aftermarket cassette player, with speakers mounted in the cab's trim panels. The A/C unit is an external Mark IIII unit, which should be operational, but disconnected at the moment. Sporting a factory installed 259 cu in (4.2 L) V8 (Block # V487I08), It starts right up, and drives like a beauty. The frame is solid, showing only minor surface rust. It has some usual underside leakage but overall is mechanically sound and an excellent driver. The two-door Studebaker Lark VIII's were only manufactured for two years, 1959 and 1960. Already making them a rarity, In 1959, 26,709 units were manufactured, With this being a 1960 Lark VIII, only 5,231 units were manufactured! This is a very rare factory original Avanti powered wagon. It is listed in the Jet Thrust Registry and of the 44 R1 Avanti powered Wagonaire's is the only one built with a three speed manual column shift transmission. Only three have been accounted for. It is also a project that I have already done quite a bit of work on. The car is actually a black plate vehicle from California and does not have major rust. This wagon came new from the factory with a rubber floor covering instead of carpet which tended to hold water. Subsequently the floors were rusty. I repaired the floors by welding in new floor panels from Classic Enterprises. The only places where there is rust through is pictured and those places are the bottom of the two rear fenders and a few spots along the roof on the right side of the car. The rest is surface rust. A new stainless steel exhaust has been installed. It has dual exhaust and the mufflers are stainless steel, all from Silvertone. When I got the car, the owner had removed the engine to seal the gaskets. He never put it back in and when he pulled it the car was running. I put new gaskets in and painted it and reinstalled it in the car. The engine turns freely. I have never fired it up. The engine is the original engine and the engine number matches the production order. The car does not run. I have many new parts. Here is a list. 1) NOS hood. 2) Four NOS half size hubs caps as originally equipped. 3) Dash cap. 4) Four NOS door panels. 5) Front sheet metal panel. 6. Door locks. 7) Ignition switch 8) Bumper. 10) Hood ornament. 11) Tailgate "Wagonaire" script. 12) Glove box door. 13) Steering Wheel. 14) Windshield wiper motor. I have many additional miscellaneous parts, all included. This is a vehicle that needs to be saved. I have the original pink slip for this vehicle and it is clear of any liens.

Classic 1960 Studebaker Lark VIII, from the end of the Studebaker era. Foremost American wagon company Studebaker began producing automobiles in 1902 but ultimately overtaken by competitors, the company folded in 1966. During Studebaker's decline, the Lark model caused an unforeseen spike in sales from its creation in 1959, to the extent that demand for engines exceeded the company's production capacity, thus, the Chevrolet engine seen here is historically correct. 2-door Lark features a recent 350 motor and transmission in excellent condition. Professional restoration to interior and exterior with paint in the original color of white sand. Excellent, in superb daily driver condition. Please note that there is no mileage gauge in the vehicle and the 99999 is merely a placeholder.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE A Brief History ………….. The Wagonaire model was popular with news agencies, movie studios, and photographers because of the sliding roof. This feature allowed them to use it as either a moving platform for filming with cameras mounted on their tripods or a stationary platform, which easily moved from one point to the next. When the filming was competed the equipment the equipment only needed to be collapsed into the wagon, the roof closed, and they were ready to move on to the next assignment. The optional folding step on the tailgate made it easy to enter, load, or exit. This Wagonaire obviously was some sort of pit car, tow car, or just some sort of equipment transportation for a Studebaker racing team of some sort. The prior owner believed it was used on the Bonneville Salt Flats as a chase car for filming the action while Studebaker was busy setting 74 speed records in 1963. He was unable to document that theory… but… There are some things that make me think he just might have been right about it… 1) Studebaker was advertising the Wagonaire as a pit/tow/spectating car for automotive events (a picture of the ad from ’63 goes with the car); 2) According to the build sheet for the car (goes with the car when sold) it was ordered as an Unsold Vehicle by the Dealer in California. The previous owner still had the original 1963 California black plate (goes with the car). The car spent majority of its life in California until 2006 when the previous owner purchased the car. 3) The car has a Studebaker 259 cubic inch V8 engine but according to the build sheet on the car, this is not the original V8 engine the car left the factory with. From the sound of the engine when idling I think there is probably a mild cam in the engine as well. The car runs very well in town and on the highway at 70mph; 4) The signage and pinstriping on the car was done by an artist named “Brandon” with Signs N Lines. The previous owner located a Signs N Lines company in Roosevelt, Utah in 2010 but they could not provide info about this particular pinstriping job. Roosevelt, Utah is only located about 100 miles from the Bonneville Salt Flats. It does make an intriguing series of things that could lead one to believe it was indeed used on the Flats during the record setting Studebaker speed trials. This car could easily be used as a daily driver. The car starts and drives really well. I enjoy the car on a daily basis… The little V8 has a nice rumble thanks to the Flowmaster muffler. This wagon is constantly getting a Thumbs Up. The paint has some rough spots on the hood and there is some rust on the lower doors and the bottom of the tailgate (very common in wagons). I would clear the car to preserve the patina and the Historic Paint Job. This car has such a unique paint job that looks amazing… People pay lots of money to have paint like this duplicated; here is your chance to have the real deal. The car is in very good shape for its age. The interior is nice and the exterior looks great too! It is in need of a headliner, window seals and some general attention. The engine has about 10,000 miles on it since a complete rebuild. This car is ready to drive! Like I said earlier I enjoy the car on a daily basis. Please feel free to Call or Text with Questions (512) 644-7519 I have an entire binder of literature to accompany the car. I also have contact information for the previous owners. *My Wagonaire is Listed Locally in Austin Tx and I have the right to end the auction early if a local deal occurs. Thanks!

Studebaker entered the automotive business in 1902 with electric vehicles and in 1904 with gasoline vehicles, all sold under the name "Studebaker Automobile Company". Over the next 50 years, the company established an enviable reputation for quality and reliability. However, years of trouble followed. Studebaker's strong post-war management team including president Paul Hoffman and Roy Cole (vice-president, engineering) had gone by 1949 and was replaced by more cautious executives who failed to meet the competitive challenge brought on by Ford and Chevrolet. The conservative executives became obsessed with short term goals instead of long term prosperity. Massive discounting in a price war between Ford and General Motors could not be equalled by the independent carmaker, for whom the only hope was a disastrous merger of Studebaker, Packard, Hudson, and Nash into a third giant combine. By 1954, Studebaker was already in the red ink. They struggled for over a decade before the end came. One of the success stories, and also victims, in this drama was the Studebaker truck line. Noted Studebaker historian Fred Fox stated that the company lost one of its' greatest opportunity when it didn't aggressively enter the commercial truck market after the World Wars. Studebaker had a long standing relationship with businesses and farmers, dating back to the horse wagon days. This was the exact demographic that was demanding the pickup truck. Ignoring this proved fatal. The Studebaker Champ was the light duty truck that was manufactured from 1960-1964. The truck line hadn't undergone a significant redesign in over 10 years. Although they had to use many existing components due to cost constraints, the end result was impressive. The chassis and cargo box were very similar to the existing design. However, designers devised a creative plan to utilize the Lark sedan body as the cab section. The engineering staff took a four-door sedan, cut it in half behind the front doors and modified the front half slightly to fit the truck chassis. The only new sheet metal stamping that was required was the back wall of the new cab. With a cab based on a sedan body, the Champ was among the first pickups to offer true "car-like" comfort, with a wide, comfortable bench seat and a handsomely-styled interior. Other manufacturers took until the late 1960s and early 1970s to follow the Champ's lead. The Champ also was the first to offer state of the art options such as sliding rear window and fiberglass body and bed components. The Champ also pointed the way to a smaller yet still rugged pickup, something Dodge later claimed as a "first" with their mid-sized Dakota, which was introduced as a 1987 model, nearly 27 years after the Champ. By December 1963, Studebaker's board of directors announced the closure of its' South Bend factory, and the trucks were among the casualties of the company's consolidation around an abbreviated family-car lineup in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada assembly plant. When they purchased the rights and tooling to the Studebaker Avanti in 1964, Nate Altman and Leo Newman also acquired the rights and tooling to Studebaker's trucks. However, Altman and Newman, for reasons which are lost to history, never built as much as a single truck. The opportunity to continue to manufacture a vehicle that was ahead of its' time was lost. The result is the existence of a very limited number of quality built, highly demanded Studebaker pickup trucks. Today, the Champs that still exist are highly prized for their interesting combination of passenger-car comfort and style and their rugged mechanical durability The example in this ad is one of them. don't miss this opportunity. There is a simple reason why there are very few of these trucks still on the road today. The majority of these have rusted away and were hauled to the junk yard. Although not still show condition, still can be rated as a nice driver quality example. Refinished many years ago in the original Apache Red. White trim on bumpers, grille, and headlight rims. White body accent stripes. White Studebaker logo on tail gate. Paint is good driver quality. There are some driving blemishes and some areas of minor bubbling, and a few minor repairs, however the paint has a glossy shine and shows well. View the Photo Bucket file to verify paint condition. Body and bed are solid and in overall very good condition for the age of the truck. Dual chrome mirrors. Bed rails. Finished oak bed flooring with deep grain in the wood. White wall radial tires. P215/75R15. Factory wheels with Studebaker hub caps. All glass is in very good condition. Champ emblems on the doors. The 170 Cu. In. six cylinder is believed to be the original. Engine and engine bay are clean. Please view Photo Bucket video below of the engine running. The engine runs very well. All components, with the exception of maintenance and repair items, appear factory original. Factory three speed manual transmission with overdrive. Newer clutch. Transmission shifts well. Overdrive lever functions properly. Factory Dana 44 rear differential. Vehicle runs and drives well. CLICK ON THIS LINK FROM THE PUBLIC DOMAIN OF PHOTO BUCKET TO VIEW THE ENGINE RUNNING: http://s514.photobucket.com/user/redeuce/library/1963%20STUDEBAKER%20VIDEO Interior was completely redone in red and white vinyl. Every component of the interior is in very good shape. Bench seat cushions and covers in very good condition, as well as door panels. Steering wheel in very good condition. Dash and gauges in very good condition, gauge faces are clear. Weatherstripping in very good shape. AM/FM radio. The interior is good looking, and also very comfortable. All interior trim and handles are in very good condition. Lights work, as well as horn, radio, gauges, and gauge lights. Turn signals don't work. Search for 1963 Studebaker Champ pickup trucks for sale. If you can find one for sale, the price is between two and three times what we are asking for this one. This is a great buy on a nice driver quality example. Don't hesitate. This one won't last. This recipient of a 2014 $30,000 restoration is the truly classic American collector’s find! Finished in it’s correct Artesian blue paint job shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon close inspection. Inside, the white vinyl seats all look great with no major signs of wear visible. The door panels are finished to match the seats and dashboard are matched to mirror the exterior of the car and all look fantastic. Paint and body are displayed well with minimal paint issues and no visible evidence of repair or damage that we could find. The Chevrolet Corvair is a compact automobile manufactured and marketed by Chevrolet for model year 1960–1969 over two generations. As the only American-designed, mass produced passenger car to feature a rear mounted air-cooled engine, the Corvair range included a two-door coupe, convertible, four-door sedan, and four-door station wagon body styles, as well as passenger van, commercial van, and pickup truck variants. The Corvair competed with imported cars such as the original Volkswagen Beetle, as well as the Falcon, Plymouth, Studebaker Lark and the Rambler American. New refinements appeared on the 1965 redesign. The Corsa came standard with an instrument panel featuring a 140 mph speedometer with resettable trip odometer, a 6,000 rpm tachometer (slightly off on rpms), cylinder head temperature gauge, analog clock with a sweeping second hand, a manifold vacuum/pressure gauge and fuel gauge. A much better heater system, larger brakes borrowed from the Chevelle, a stronger differential ring gear, a Delcotron alternator (replacing the generator), and significant chassis refinements were made. AM/FM stereo radio, in-dash All Weather Air Conditioning, telescopically adjustable steering column, and a Special Purpose Chassis Equipment (“Z17”) handling package, consisting of a special performance suspension and quick ratio steering box, were significant new options for 1965. This true example of a Corsa Corvair is equipped with a 4 carburetor “Turbo-Air 164” 2.7L 140hp flat 6 cylinder (matching numbers) engine coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, larger brakes, 140mph speedometer, Notebook containg everything from the original delivery date at the dealership to restoration receipts, original owners manual and spare set of keys. These series II Corvairs are becoming increasingly hard to find in such solid well kept condition. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
