Up for sale or trade is a Mitsubishi station with a late model 1jz and the very rare tripod type shifter r154 5 speed trans swapped in it. The late model 1jz and r154 in this car is worth about 3k alone. Those transmissions bring alot of money. It is not the standard mk3 supra r154.* I'm asking 3800 for the car and just the engine and trans is worth 3k. Let alone all the other high dollar parts. Stainless braided lines for power steering, fuel lines etc add up really quickly!!! Very important is the car has ZERO rust, other than surface scaling. No major rot anywhere. These cars are notorious for rotting badly and this car was saved, por15 and thorough restoration was done before. Then someone backed into the nose and that's why the front end is not pretty. It is straight and rust free just needs to be repainted. The paint lifted off the rear spoiler in a couple spots. Body is nice and straight but needs paint. From the accident up front there is some evidence of it still on the rad support and in the front corner under the hood. Car drove straight but you can see it. Quick list of parts - 4 core supra aluminum rad with two - 12 inch fans with custom aluminum shroud - Big front mount intercooler with tial blow off valve on the cold side - Brand new tires all the way around - over 700$ worth of custom gauges from speedhut installed in the stock dash looks amazing. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is the most capable of all Toyotas when the pavement gives way to gravel, sand and rocks. That's saying something, given the capabilities of the 4Runner, Land Cruiser, and Tacoma. All of these Toyotas are among the best in their respective classes for travel over rugged terrain. The FJ Cruiser seats five. The front doors are front-hinged. Rear-hinged rear side doors provide access to the back seat. Main access to the cargo area is through a door hinged on the driver's side of the vehicle instead of a typical roof-hinged hatch-style closure. Having the hinge on the driver's side makes curbside loading and unloading easier. Retro styling gives the FJ Cruiser presence. Designed in California, the FJ Cruiser recalls the Toyota FJ40, known in North America as the original Land Cruiser. The FJ Cruiser will not be mistaken for anything else. Short overhangs aid capability for traversing ditches and other terrain that challenges ground clearance. The rugged, minimalist interior is easy to clean. No leather here, rugged fabric is designed to resist dirt and water. An Off-Road package further enhances the FJ's capabilities with trail-tuned Bilstein shock absorbers and a rear differential lock that works in conjunction with Toyota's A-TRAC off-road traction control system. With this setup, the FJ Cruiser can hang with the Jeep Wrangler crowd. Toyota's 4.0-liter V6 engine makes 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque. It has dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), which means variable valve timing for both intake and exhaust. We found the FJ Cruiser superb in rugged terrain yet comfortable on the road. Its V6 engine delivers more than ample power and torque for any foreseeable situation. Fuel economy for the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser is an EPA-estimated 17/21 mpg City/Highway for a 4WD automatic, 15/19 mpg for a 4WD with 6-speed manual gearbox, and 17/22 mpg for a 2WD automatic. The full-time 44 with the manual transmission offers the best capability in rugged terrain. The 2014 model year brings only minor changes to the content of some option packages; and a new color, Cement, replacing Cavalry Blue. We don't expect any significant changes to the FJ Cruiser anytime soon. Source: New Car Test Drive Walkaround The Toyota FJ Cruiser is the rebirth of the original Toyota FJ40, known in North America as the original Land Cruiser. It was a rugged, go-anywhere vehicle, a sport utility vehicle decades before the genre had a name. The FJ Cruiser was designed in Southern California. The design evokes the heritage of the FJ40 and other early Land Cruisers without being retro. This is no simple cloning of a nearly half-century old design. Instead, what Toyota wanted to do was to project how the original Jeep-like FJ would have evolved had it remained in production all these years. The engineering and manufacturing of the Toyota FJ Cruiser are done in Japan. Early FJs and Land Cruisers were patterned on the World War II Jeep. Rugged and reliable, Toyota FJs and Land Cruisers became the vehicles of choice for explorers, ranchers, missionaries, United Nations peacekeepers, merchants or anyone else who needed to drive through places such as Australia's Outback, Africa's plains, across Asian steppes, through South American jungles or anywhere else where roads were virtually nonexistent, with trails as harsh and challenging as the natural environment. Exterior styling cues from the original FJ brought forward on the FJ Cruiser include a narrow slot of a second grille built into the front lip of the hood, the trio of windshield wipers at the base of an upright windshield, the round headlights and the metallic-colored enclosure that frames them and the main grille (with Toyota in simple gothic letters, instead of the interlocking oval emblem that adorns the face of other modern Toyotas), the white roof, the wraparound rear windows and the spare tire mounted on the back of the vehicle. The FJ Cruiser shares much of its under structure with the Toyota 4Runner four-door SUV and Tacoma pickup truck, but you'd never guess that to look at the FJ with its wide, turtle-shell body design. Short front and rear overhangs allow serious off-road maneuvering. The 44 versions offer 9.6 inches of ground clearance, with optional underbody armor to provide extra protection against rocks and other obstacles met on unpaved trails. Viewed in profile, the most noticeable aspects of the FJ Cruiser are its upright windshield, tall and protective body sides, short windows and very wide C-pillar on either side of the cargo area. Though it may look like a two-door, the FJ Cruiser actually has four doors, with the rear side doors opening rearward to create a good-sized opening for access to the back seat and cargo area. The rear door also opens wide, and features a backlight glass that can be flipped up when the door itself is closed. The FJ Cruiser features an interesting color palate. You can order the authentically drab Army Green, a desert-warrior dun called Quicksand, or a peachy orange called Magma, in addition to basic Black and Iceberg White. New for 2104 is Cement, a suitably industrial gray inherited from last year's Trail Teams Special Edition. The paint color covers only the hood, fenders, body sides, C-pillars and rear door. In homage to the old FJ40s, all FJ Cruisers (except the monochromatic Trail Teams model) have white roofs, helping keep the cabin cool under a blazing sun. Source: New Car Test Drive Driving Impression Powering the FJ Cruiser is Toyota's 4.0-liter V6 engine, well-proven in the 4Runner, Tacoma and Tundra. In the FJ Cruiser it develops 260 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, the sort of grunt that comes in handy when traveling off-road or when towing. The FJ Cruiser is rated to tow as much as 4700 pounds. It would work fine for ATVs, snowmobiles and personal watercraft. Though the 4Runner is rated to tow only 300 pounds more on paper, for a variety of reasons we would consider it a much better tow vehicle. The Toyota V6 not only is strong, but clean and fuel-efficient as well. It earns the FJ Cruiser a LEV-II (low-emission vehicle) rating from the federal government. Fuel economy is an EPA-estimated 17/21 mpg City/Highway for a 4WD automatic, 15/19 mpg for a 4WD with 6-speed manual gearbox, and 17/22 mpg for a 2WD automatic. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is quite capable off road, even more so than the highly capable 4Runner on which it is based. The FJ offers better approach and departure angles and a shorter wheelbase, with the same generous ground clearance. Of the three drivetrains available, those primarily interested in the unique design statement made by the FJ Cruiser will likely opt for the two-wheel-drive setup. This is not the setup we would choose. Those planning to do serious off-road driving will want the full-time 44 with the manual transmission, which features a clutchless starting feature that can come in handy for rock-crawling maneuvers. With the manual transmission, the drivetrain is a full-time four-wheel-drive setup with H4, H4L (locked Torsen center differential) and L4L (low and locked) settings. The H4 mode usually sends 60 percent of power to the rear wheels, but can send as much as 53 percent of power to the front wheels or 70 percent to the rear wheels as needed. An electronically locking rear differential is standard with the manual transmission and available with the automatic, even in the two-wheel-drive version. With the manual transmission, the FJ Cruiser has an off-road crawl ratio of 41.84:1 and has proven itself capable of traversing California's rugged and world-famous Rubicon Trail. Those looking for an automatic likely will select the part-time 44 with its automatic transmission. It's a good choice regardless of road and weather conditions. It's also a good choice for rugged terrain and is available with Toyota's A-TRAC off-road technology. It's our choice, unless we were planning to do organized off-road adventures. With the automatic transmission, the four-wheel-drive system offers shift-on-the-fly selection with H2 (2WD High range), H4 (4WD High range) or L4 (4WD Low range) settings for the torque-splitting transfer case. The Upgrade Packages include Toyota's computer-controlled A-TRAC, for Active-TRACtion. This system, which also makes steering easier in rugged terrain, can be turned on or off via a switch on the dashboard control panel. In severe off-road situations, drivers may need to engage the locking rear differential, but we found the A-TRAC system ideal for negotiating a series of serious and deep moguls in steep terrain when we did our off-road test drive. The Vehicle Stability Control system works with the roll sensor to try to stop lateral skids before they can lead to a rollover. Failing that, the sensor deploys both the side-impact and side-curtain airbags. VSC comes standard on all models. Toyota anticipates that many FJ Cruiser owners will want to explore away from pavement, but most miles will be racked up on city streets and suburban highways, where we found the FJ Cruiser to be comfortable, even when we sat in the back seat. One thing we did notice, however, was that the big roof rack that's available as an accessory can create a lot of wind noise at Interstate speeds. This is true with all safari-style roof racks, something many Land Rover owners know. We still think lots of people will want one, however, if for no other reason than it looks so cool. We'd order one for ours and put up with the wind noise. Source: New Car Test Drive Interior Like the exterior, the interior of the Toyota FJ Cruiser reflects the character of the early FJ40s, especially when equipped with the optional body-colored door panel inserts. The standard dashboard looks like an extruded aluminum beam, with audio and climate controls set into a body-colored panel in the center. If you want leather seats, you don't want an FJ Cruiser, which comes only with water-resistant cloth upholstery and rubberized floor and cargo mats. The expectation is that people who drive FJ Cruisers will get them dirty, and want the easy cleanup provided by such materials. The seats have active headrests. In certain rear collisions, a cable-actuated mechanism in the headrest moves it upward and forward to help limit the movement of the occupant's head, potentially reducing whiplash injuries. Folding rear headrests help with rearward visibility. Switches for various mechanical systems are set in a panel just ahead of the shift lever. Not only are they conveniently placed, but there are dummy switches to ease installation of aftermarket equipment such as auxiliary lighting or locking axles for extreme off-road use. The driver faces white-faced gauges that are easy to read (speedometer, tachometer, engine temperature, voltage and fuel level). In addition to the regular glove box ahead of the front passenger seat, there's a smaller covered storage box on top of the instrument panel in front of the driver. This area can be fitted with an accessory Garmin Quest 2 navigation unit that can be removed from the vehicle for hiking or other activities. Cup holders are provided in the center console and all four doors. A 12-volt outlet is mounted on the switch panel ahead of the shifter; and a three-prong, grounded 115-volt power outlet in the cargo area with a switch for either 100 or 400 watts of output (the higher figure available when the vehicle is at idle). The rear seatback splits 60/40 to optimize cargo carrying options. The rear-seat cushion tips forward and can be removed to provide a few more inches of cargo area behind the front seats. Rear-hinged rear side doors give easy access to the back seat and cargo area, helped by front seatbacks that fold forward. Perhaps appropriately, the front seatback folds a little further forward on the right (curb) side. The standard audio system includes a CD player and iPod and MP3 capability as well as two ceiling-mounted speakers designed to enhance the sound experience within the FJ Cruiser. The Upgrade Package increases the speaker count from six to eleven and includes a pair of 2.6-inch speakers mounted on the rear pillars. Because the FJ Cruiser has wide C-pillars that may interfere with the driver's rearward vision, a rearview camera is included in the Convenience Package, to warn the driver of the proximity of objects when the transmission is in Reverse. The Upgrade Package adds rear parking sonar. We had no trouble parking the FJ in urban settings on our test drive, nor did we have to move into strange positions to see stoplights through the upright windshield. Protect the ecosystem? Go faster than the other cars? Make a statement? To some degree, the first hybrid luxury sport utility vehicle does all these things. Vehicle Overview Closely related to the gasoline-powered Lexus RX 330, which falls into the midsize luxury SUV segment, the RX 400h gets a new, second-generation version of Hybrid Synergy Drive. Peak output totals 268 horsepower, which is about 20 percent higher than a regular RX 330. Toyota claims that the RX 400h would beat the 0-to-60-mph acceleration time of the RX 330, which is under 8 seconds. Performance gains are expected to be even stronger in passing-range acceleration, from 30 to 50 mph, due to the torque burst that the high-output electric motor can deliver. Combined fuel efficiency, Toyota said, is significantly better than the EPA average for four-cylinder compact sedans, with a range between fill-ups of more than 600 miles. The RX 400h also has earned a SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) rating. Toyota noted that driving the RX 400h round-trip between Los Angeles and New York nine times would produce fewer smog-forming emissions than painting a room with a gallon of house paint. Mike Wells, vice president of sales and dealer development, said the RX 400h is "a total package that goes beyond fuel economy and low emissions," and is actually "targeted more at performance." Exterior The RX 400h's appearance differs only modestly from the regular RX 330. Styling revisions include round fog lamps and an additional opening on the front bumper fascia for cooling powertrain components. The RX 400h is an inch longer than the RX 330 and weighs 300 pounds more. Interior The RX 400h's five-passenger seating and interior space are similar to the RX 330's. However, brushed aluminum trim is used only on the RX 400h. Rather than the usual tachometer, the dashboard contains an illuminated battery-power meter. The steering wheel contains controls for the hybrid system's monitor and the stereo. The backseat has been raised 0.7 inch to accommodate the battery pack underneath. Thirty battery modules are split into three groups, each with a dedicated cooling fan. Under the Hood Combining a 208-hp, 3.3-liter V-6 and electric motor-generators, the second-generation Hybrid Synergy Drive powertrain generates 268 hp total. A continuously variable transmission sends that energy to the wheels. The full-hybrid system can operate in gas or electric mode, as well as a combination of both. Lexus says the gas engine starts at a lower power level, which makes the transition between power sources harder to discern. Like the RX 330, the RX 400h can tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped. Safety Antilock brakes incorporate electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. Side curtain-type airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags and a driver's knee airbag are installed. An Adaptive Front lighting System can swivel in accord with the front wheels to better light curves in the road. Driving Impressions Hybrids might be known for fuel-saving capabilities, but performance reigns supreme in the RX 400h. This SUV zooms confidently and effortlessly from a standstill to highway speed, and it's difficult to discern exactly when the gasoline engine comes into play. The ride is pleasant and steering is easy on smooth roads. Bright, recessed gauges are easy to read. You get a full luxury experience, bountiful powertrain response and impressive city fuel-economy figures with this SUV. MS51 coupes were not originally sold in the US, and only a small number were produced for the Japanese market. They’re tough to find in any condition, and this may be the only example in North America. This vehicle was imported from Japan last year. The car arrived to us non-running, and upon inspection we determined the original engine was in extremely poor shape. We decided to do something a little special with the car, so we swapped in a 2JZ. To keep the old school flare, we ditched the fuel injection and decided to run a triple Weber carb setup. Lots of custom fabrication has went into the car to get it to this point. The aluminum manifold alone has countless hours in it. The engine fit very well since it was replacing another straight 6. Great care was taken to get it as low and set back as far as possible. Motor mounts are custom made with poly bushings, and mount to the stock locations on the frame. The car gets an amazing amount of attention. I trailered it across the country, and we couldn’t stop for gas without answering lots of questions. With the engine swap it’s definitely a Japanese muscle car. It’s a Super Deluxe model making it even rarer. Super Deluxe options included a twin carb 2m engine (now removed for the 2JZ with Webers), tachometer (currently non-working), center console mounted clock, a dual speaker radio with auto scan function, power windows and locks, upgraded fender mirrors, and ornate upholstery featuring woven in Crown logos. The best part of this car is the engine swap. The engine is a 3.0L 2JZGE from a MkIV Supra. The manifold for the carbs was made by modifying the original lower intake manifold. Many hours went into the fabrication of this, and photos of the process are included. The original injector ports were tapped for fittings, and a vacuum reservoir combines the vacuum from each individual runner for the power brakes. The carbs are brand new Spanish made Weber DCOE 45s. High quality components were used for all modifications to the engine. Linkage is made from very nice milled aluminum parts from Pierce Manifolds. Over $2000 was spent on the carb setup alone. Exhaust uses the stock manifolds and feeds into 2 1/2” dual pipes with glass packs. Exhaust needs to be finished. Currently it stops just after the doors, a kick-up over the axle, exhaust tips, and hangers will complete it. Easily accomplished at any exhaust shop. The motor starts easily, and sounds great. The carbs do need to be tuned however. The car stumbles off idle, and is not currently drivable due to the tune. I will include over $200 in jets with the car, however I believe it will need a new set of chokes to get it running right. I started this project in California and had intended to send the car out to a Weber specialist for tuning. We’ve now relocated to Kentucky, and I’m unable to get the car into a Weber specialist that can tune it in any reasonable amount of time out here. The stock 2JZ distributor was removed and has been replaced with a programable ignition system. The ignition is controlled by a Megajolt computer, and uses Ford EDIS components along with a stock Toyota crank sensor. To fit the crank sensor, a brand new Aisin (OEM) oil pump from a later model 2JZ was fitted. The later oil pump includes the sensor mount, and allows the use of 36-1 crank trigger wheel. The trigger wheel is also a modified new Toyota part built into the lower timing belt pulley. I like to use OEM components whenever possible for greater reliability. The timing belt and crank seal were also replaced at this time. Cam seals were in great shape and not leaking, so they were not replaced. I’ve found fixing things that aren’t broken often results in headaches. Two new cam seals will be included with the car as I had already purchased them before deciding against replacing them. To fit the engine into the frame required a custom lower oil pan to be made. Pan holds over 5 quarts of oil, and uses the factory plug and dipstick. Motor has strong oil pressure. Oil pressure, temp gauge, ammeter, and speedometer are all working. Tach is currently not functioning, possibly due to the new coil. I did attempt to wire the new coil(s) to the tach using diodes to combine the signal, but it did not work. A/C compressor is present but condition is unknown. To get A/C working, a new condenser and lines will be needed. Stock evaporator is in the dash, but condition is unknown. Stock heater core has a leak, and the heater line is currently looped with a restrictor in place. Catch will need to be installed for PCV system. The car has also been converted to rack and pinion steering. The original steering box was very loose, and all of the joints in the stock steering were shot. Many of the parts for the steering are NLA, so we decided to improve what was there. The car uses a center pivot rack with custom brackets. Great care was taken to preserve the stock steering geometry so as to not affect bump steer or Ackerman. The rack is from a European Daewoo, but is the same J-body (Cavalier, Berreta, Saab) rack that many hot rodders use for this conversion, only in right hand drive form. That means that rebuild kits are easily available, and future serviceability should not be a problem. The stock wheels were sent out to a shop in California where they were rebarreled. They started life as 14x5’s. The stock centers were then rebarreled into 15x7 and 15x8 chrome hoops. They really give the car an aggressive look. We have the stock center caps for the wheels, and they will be included. They need to be restored to be perfect, photos of them are included. Tires are brand new Kumhos. The stock spare wheel (same design) in the original 14x5 size is also included. The tire on it is a vintage Toyo Bias Ply. (You might want to replace that…) The condition of the body is good, and very solid underneath. Frame is very solid with no rust. Floors are extremely solid with only minor surface rust in some areas. It seems the car has been undercoated more than once in its life, and was protected well. Underbody shots are included, showing the worst of it in the rear quarters. I would be happy to put the car on our lift and show any prospective buyer the condition. We can poke around with a screwdriver and show just how solid this car really is. I haven’t ‘cleaned up’ the underside so photos will accurately show the condition. I would be happy to to do so and spray on rust inhibitor before the vehicle leaves us for the new owner. The car has an older repaint, with previous rust repair in the rear quarters. Signs of the previous repairs are starting to show through. Rust is starting to peek through around both front and rear windows. The worst spot is a small area at the corner of the rear window. Photos are included highlighting these areas. Paint is fair, and looks great from 10 feet. The passenger side does have several large scratches (shown in photos). One side Crown logo is broken, but the missing piece is included, and could be repaired. The interior I would consider in good shape for its age. The headliner and back seat are in great condition. The rear seat belts were found under the rear seat, and appear to have never been used. The passenger seat has tears in the seat bottom as shown in photos. Drivers seat is in much better shape. Carpet will need to be replaced. Door panels are in great shape though the lower carpet is faded on the drivers side. Trim for the door locks is currently not attached, but we do have them. They will need repair to the clips to fit them. Dash pad is peeling up from the dash as seen in photos. The power windows can be a bit finicky. All the motors work, but the switch contacts are causing them to operate slowly. The window regulators need work to be perfect. I'll go ahead and answer the question I'm sure many people will ask, "Why are you selling before it's totally finished?" We've spent too much time and money on the car as it is. The reserve is set to less than we have in the car in hard parts. We don't actually expect to make anything off the labor completed so far. Our primary business is importing vehicles, not modification. Our original plan was to sell the car in stock condition, but upon finding the motor trashed, we decided we didn't want to sell it non-running. We have new cars arriving at the end of the month, and will need to devote time to them. That said, if the new owner would like us to complete any additional work on the car we could make arrangements for that. We won't be able to devote much time to it until the first of the year however. After searching for Weber specialists and checking their schedules, tuning it would be on the same timeframe.
