1975 Volkswagen Super Beetle Convertible. This car was restored in 1998-1999 at approximately 61,000 miles. It currently has approximately 62,650 miles...fewer than 2000 miles in 17 years! The car has been garaged since restoration and driven only in the summer - never in the rain. I purchased the car 17 years ago after the engine had been overhauled and the paint had been done and the top had been replaced. I redid the upholstery, replaced the wheels and tires, and gave it to my wife. She was afraid to drive it because it was in such great condition and didn't want anything to happen to it (read, she was afraid I'd be upset). So, over seventeen years we've used the car in town to go out to dinner and take the occasional drive in the country. The car is gorgeous, and I love it, and I've been trying to get the courage up to sell it for about eight years now. Truth is we don't use it enough and now we need the garage space for another recently acquired toy. The car is currently registered in Washington as a Collector's Vehicle. Here's what was done in the restoration: Rebuilt 1600cc fuel injected engineNew frame rails (see the photo with the unmolested jack tubeNew floor pansComplete undercoating of new frame and floor pans (never driven in the wet since)New paint with body off (now, after 17 years, there are one or two small chips)New fender to body welting (the black bead between the body and fenders)New door sealsNew convertible topNew window scrapers - the rubber things that seal your windows to the doors/body (these suckers cost over $300!)New "as original" upholstery kit installedNew lap seat belts (the original shoulder harnesses were no longer safe and are unavailable)New Fuel pumpNew fuel injector hosesNew fan beltNew VW chrome wheels and hub caps (Brazilian VW factory)New radial tires (still excellent since always garaged, but they are 17 years old)New Pioneer CD/Bluetooth stereo and new speakers (in July 2015) A few more things: The 1975 was the first convertible to have the injected engine (it had been in the sedan for a few model years previous). The 1975 model is also the rarest (lowest production numbers) of all of the Super Beetle Convertibles. There is no rust (except for superficial oxidation in the normal places). This car has been babied as long as I have had it, and it shows. The very expensive window scrapers have been Armor-Alled every spring and fall, as have the other window rubber and the tires. The oil has been changed every fall prior to winter storage. An original VW shop manual in included, as are a few minor spare parts. I forgot to photograph it, but the tonneau cover for the folded convertible roof is included and in great condition. The only thing missing is the under steering column plastic shroud that covers the wiring harness (I haven't yet been able to steal one from another car!), but you won't notice it sitting in the seat. The car has been garaged every winter and only driven in fair weather. It's a great example of the type; it's not concours condition, but it's so nice as to make you want to take up two parking spots in the grocery store parking lot. You won't find a better one for the price! The very rare Pan Am front license plate will be yours with Buy It Now. A Best Offer Winner will have to negotiate for it!
