Runs and drives very well, engine and transmission are smooth. Purchased by the original owner in Virginia, was there for a few years and spent the rest of it's life in North Carolina. I have the original sales reciept, all the service records thru 2006 when the car had 85 k miles on it. All work was done at the Volvo dealer in Va or Nc. Car is all orginal paint, no accidents ever. The car was in a carport or garage most of it's life, it is very nice. No rust the floors, doors or quarter panels are all nice. Other than a few paint chips, there are 2 little dents below the gas door, hard to see unless you look for them. Blue cloth interior is nice, all seat foam is in good condition. Carpet is nice, one small crack in dash pad. Car has a new timing belt, front engine seals, water pump,air filter, oil change and flame trap. Air conditioning has been converted to 134 a and works great. The exhaust and brakes are in good condition. Tires are Michlien and are 90 percent plus. The original radio will be replaced with a aftermarket CD am fm unit this week. Power windows and locks work great. Power steering and brakes are smooth and working properly. Door pockets, center console plastic is in good condition as well as the hard to fine center arm rest. Heater works fine and blower motor is quiet. Maryland inspection has been done, it is extensive and hard to pass. If it passes in Maryland it will pass in your home state. We offer a 60 day Maryand temporary tag so you can drive the car home legally. We have a clear North Carolina title in hand, the North Carolina title is mileage exempt ( cars older than 10 years no longer require mileage records). To the best of my knowledge the 109k miles is correct. We offer free pick up at the airport DCA Washington DC, BWI Baltimore, train or bus station in DC or Maryland. Up for sale is a used 1995 Volvo 850 in Gold. It runs, drives, and does so well, though there are issues that will be listed below. In this listing, I will highlight the good, the bad, and the bottom line of the vehicle. The Good This vehicle was purchased from the previous owner in 2005. It has never been involved in any accidents, and the body and motor have approximately 210,000 miles, plus or minus 10,000 miles (the odometer stopped at 73,500 miles, so this number was reached in conjunction with the previous owner, and the amount that we have driven it). The vehicle has a clear Florida title and is ready to be transferred directly to you. There are no liens or any other problems with the title. The transmission was replaced approximately 40,000 miles ago, and at the time that transmission had approximately 50,000 miles on it. As such, this transmission has approximately 90,000-100,000 miles on it. It received a transmission flush in October of 2012, and functions without issue. The frame is 100% solid, with no issues or rust evident. This car spent a majority of it's life in Florida (and has been in Virginia since Spring of 2013), so it did not experience the hard winter weather which will effect the stability of the frame. There are no major problems evident on any body panels, with all four doors, the hood, trunk, fenders, roof, and remaining panels showing no evidence of rust and little evidence of dents or dings. All glass is free of cracks, and the windshield was replaced new in August of 2014. The paint is in fairly excellent condition for its age, with no major blemishes or worn areas evident. The Air Conditioning is functional and blows cold, the power seats, locks, windows are functional, and the CD/Cassette deck is in full working order. Cruise control also functions without any problems, as does all lights, turn signals, windshield wipers, and power sunroof. One pair of tires is approximately 1 year old with 10-12,000 miles on them, while another set is approximately 5 months old with 4-5,000 miles on them. All four rotors and pads were replaced in October of 2014 with brand-new parts. The Not-So-Good The engine exhibits the presence of oil sludge and the smell of coolant, so there is a strong likelihood that the car has a blown head gasket. In spite of this, the vehicle has no problems starting, running, and driving. How long this will last, I do not know; I recommend an immediate repair of the issue. As of right now, the vehicle is mostly not used. The power steering leaks and gradually stops functioning until more fluid is added. Once fluid is in the reservoir, the steering resumes normal function. The back doors do not open. This is a result of a ring in the latch assembly falling loose from another piece, so neither the inside nor outside handles will open the doors. This can be fixed by removing the door panel and re-seating the ring onto the latch assembly hook. The trunk will not stay up, and it must be propped open. This is not a result of the pistons themselves failing, but slipping off of the latch in the interior of the vehicle. This can be fixed by re-attaching the pistons onto the frame of the car. The interior is in fairly bad shape, with the exception of the carpeting (which isn't that great, either). The seats are by far the most affected piece, with many severe problems throughout. Seat covers would be a solution to this issue. The headliner is completely gone, and the dashboard/center console area is heavily worn. The steering wheel is in excellent condition, as is the instrument panel and CD/Cassette deck. There are no overhead lights, only lights in the floorboard area. The heat will rarely blow hot, unless when sitting in traffic. When at cruise on the motorway, the heat will typically not blow hot. One battery cable exhibits a poor connection and will need to be replaced. The battery itself is tested as having no bad cells as of 5 May, 2015. The window tinting is decayed and will need to be removed all the way around the vehicle. The gas cap will need a replacement. The gear shift knob has broken off and will need a replacement. Some buttons control incorrect things. For example, the front driver-side power window button controls the back driver-side window, and vice-versa. The Bottom Line Ultimately, I am selling this car because I have recently acquired a new one and I do not have currently have the time to address the issues which this vehicle has. It has served as a reliable mode of transportation since we have owned the car, but at this point we hope to pass it on to someone who can either repair it, or utilize it for the many excellent parts it has. Currently, in "fair" condition (with significant mechanical or cosmetic issues), the car has an approximate value of around $2,200. Given the issues it has, I do not expect to get this price; however, please do not low-ball me, because I will eventually have the time to part this vehicle out and earn what the car is rightfully worth. Given the issues, this vehicle will not pass a Virginia State inspection, hence why it still carries Florida registration. I have tried to include as many photos as possible, so you can see the condition of the vehicle. I will take more pictures upon request. I have tried to describe any issues that it may have to the best of my knowledge, and I will add any that I may think of over the next few days. I WILL: Accept cash in a secured public area, such as a bank. The exchange of title and keys will occur at this point. I WILL NOT: Accept checks, PayPal, or Credit/Debit cards. We changed the engine air filter and vacuumed the road debris that can accumulate in the air box. It appears that the prior owner had recently done an oil change and the oil looks clean. We also noted that the idler wheel on the serpentine belt was a bit noisy at startup (that’s the part that keeps the belt tensioned) so we replaced the idler wheel and bearing assembly. Moving along to the chassis, the front brakes were about half worn so we replaced front brake rotors and pads.  The rear brakes were about half worn too, so we replaced the rear pads. Options: Finished in silver/green and mocha leather interior, this VERY CLEAN 2005 Volvo XC70 AWD  features about everything that you expect in this Swedish luxury wagon beginning with the smooth and responsive 2.5 L DOHC 5-cylinder turbo teamed with the 5-speed automatic Asin-Warner (AW55) transaxle, driver, passenger, side and roof SRS (air bags), electronically controlled ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD), automatic climate control featuring a factory R134a refrigerant charge, 4-wheel ABS (anti-lock brakes), Volvo’s own SIPS (Side Impact Protection System), factory sunroof, power windows, central locking system, power mirrors, power seats, factory alloy wheels, factory sound system, 4-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, rear window defroster, folding rear seats, integrated rear child seat, driver’s information center, service reminder system, factory security system, and much more!   Yet ANOTHER Clean Southern Ride!   This vehicle is riding on a very good set of tires. Service and Inspection Report – Value Added: We brought this clean Volvo in for service and found that the prior owner had taken great care of the car.  It appears to have been regularly serviced.   Since we could not verify the mileage for the last timing belt, we did the service.  Doing the job right, we installed NEW CAM SEALS, NEW VVT O-RINGS, NEW TIMING BELT, tensioner and idler wheel.  When we do timing belts, we replace the spark plugs and we installed a new set of Denso® brand plugs.  That’s a major service and it’s done for you!   Using our Snap-On Solus® diagnostic scanner, we noticed some shift solenoid codes which are common on the AW-55 transmission.  What happens is that the electronic shift solenoids stick and the shift quality is not as good as when new.  However, the transmissions in these vehicles can go a long time with service.  So, we replaced the electronic shift solenoids in the valve body and did a complete transmission fluid change using the correct Mobile 3309 fluid.  This procedure took care of the codes, and now shifts as designed.   Test driving the vehicle after the transmission service, we noticed a slight vibration at highway speeds under load.  That’s a sign of the drive axle needing service, so we replaced both front drive axles with remanufactured units.  No more vibration!   While changing the drive axles, we changed the top engine mount as well as the lower right.  Over time both are about ready for change at this mileage and we did both of them for you.    The prior owner had recently done an oil change and the service label indicates that the next oil change is at 149k miles.   On the chassis, we noted a noise from the front suspension and traced it down to the coil spring mount.  We pulled both struts and replaced the mounts and bearings for you – no more noise.   While we had the vehicle apart for service, we noted that the vehicle had close to new brakes, front and rear.   Moving along the outside of the vehicle, we installed new wiper blades, front and rear.   As we drove the vehicle, the climate control worked fine but we heard the occasional chirp noise from the blower motor.  So, yes we did, we replaced the blower motor so that you wouldn’t have to be bothered by the job.   We finished up this vehicle be changing the cabin air filter.  It is a job that you want done every year and we’ve taken care of that for you.   Shop around and then ADD IT UP!  Why buy one that needs work?  How much will that cost you in addition to the car itself?  The items that we serviced would easily cost you $4,500 if you did all of this after the sale.    You can always pay less.  Just click the “back” button and buy something else?  However, if you are looking for a better value, buy from Grove.  That’s the Grove Automotive Group, Inc. difference.
