1973 Volvo P1800 ES - 1 of 8077 total 2 year production. 4 speed manual with Laycock electric Overdrive. 2.0L 4 cylinder with Bosch D Jetronic F.I. Cypress Green (#94) with Brown (#456-884) (brick color) Interior. (5) "Clover" alloy wheels with very good matched tires on the ground. Interior shows very well with the original seats, carpeting, headliner, door and side panels showing no signs of previous repair. Original Volvo sound system. Bright metal and glass is very good. The vehicle starts and drives excellent having just received a major service, tune up, new battery and safety inspection. There are no signs of previous rust or collision repair. The vehicle was heavily undercoated when new and remains intact having achieved it's original purpose. The vehicle has been refinished in it's original Cypress Green to correct 43 years of fading, chips and dings. Door(s), hatch and windshield seals were replaced at the same time. Engine bay has not been detailed and shows very well. A new hood seal and under hood pad were installed. The ES engine produced 125 bhp by reducing the compression ratio with a thicker head gasket, although maximum power was slightly down, the engine was less “peaky” and the car’s on-the-road performance was actually improved. Mated to the B20F fuel injected engine is an extremely rare M41 4-speed manual transmission with a Laycock overdrive. The addition of the overdrive is vital for effortless highway speed cruising. Stopping is handled by power assisted disc brakes. In addition, the 1970 model was the first 1800 with four-wheel disc brakes. Purchased from a estate collection of unique automobiles, in original condition. solid original floors. this vehicle was then treated to a cosmetic and mechanical restoration, as needed, to bring the car to 1- or 2+ condtion. Appreciating, driveable, enjoyable, classic,In 2014 several of these cars sold at auction for sums in excess of $80,000. Wayne Carini’s (Chasing Classic Cars TV show and SCM Magazine) December 2014 article in Forbes predicted $100,000 sales in 2015. the 1800es was produced in only a two year run, this was volvo’s flagship vehicle. It was quite expensive, even when new, and was more expensive than the Corvette of the same year. Technologically advanced, featuring bosch d-jetronic fuel injection and unique styling, the car soon realized a cult following, that has stayed with it through today. Styling influences from this very car are easily seen on the back of the new volvo c30 series cars, with it’s signature large rear backlight area. Most collector cars are impractical to utilize as daily drivers, however, the volvo P1800 is just the opposite. Up for sale is a 1972 Volvo 1800 ES wagon. Car has been off of the road since 1987. It was stored in a barn untouched until recently. This car has 57K original miles. Car runs. This car will need a full and thorough tune up as well as one (number 1) fuel injector electrical connector, a battery, and exhaust manifold gaskets. The tires all hold air and it rolls and moves easily. It will move under its own power, but the brakes do nothing as they are non-operational at this time. I would go through the entire car before attempting to put it on the road. Oil and filter have just been changed with synthetic oil, and a Mann W917 oil filter was installed. Drivers door lock does not unlock and will need to be addressed. It has the rare factory AC which is a very rare option. It has a 4-speed M41 manual transmission with overdrive. The engine is a B20 fuel injected engine. The car has some rust, but it is repairable. This car deserves to be restored. These are becoming very desirable and more valuable by the day. Due to some recent unforeseen circumstances, we have decided to sell our  Sun Yellow 1972 Volvo P1800ES wagon. Odometer shows 67K miles. B20 fuel injected engine with a M41 4-speed with overdrive manual transmission. Has been sitting indoors from about 1988 until recently. No ignition switch. It starts and will run on ether only. I drained the fuel tank and put a few gallons of fresh gasoline in, but cannot seem to get the fuel pump to "wake up." It has power going to the fuel pump, however. Interior is in shambles. I have owned this since 1989 and it was my daily driver until 1991. In 1991 it needed a jack support welded in and some rust repair on the left rear quarter. I put it up on on jack stands till I had time to work on it. It has been in my garage since then. Engine is running, transmission is slipping, tires good, new battery, new brake lines, rust repair needed (drivers floor, passenger floor, left rear quarter by wheel well, bubbles on front fender by headlight and antenna) I have the new frame piece for the drivers side. new water pump I put in leaks I assume by the head oring seals. Purchased from the third owner, a prominent artist, who garage kept this P1800ES from 1981 until our purchase in 2014. Low MileageSix digit odometer shows 68304 miles. Here are his impressions of the car and the market: Today we are checking out a very cool 1973 Volvo P1800 ES. This rare car has an enthusiastic worldwide following, even attracting the nickname “snow white’s coffin” in Germany. The expansive glass space and beauty of the car being fit for a queen in slumber. Number 5214 of the 8077 produced in only a two year run, this was volvo’s flagship vehicle. It was quite expensive, even when new, and was more expensive than the Corvette of the same year. Technologically advanced, featuring bosch d-jetronic fuel injection, 4 wheel disc brakes and unique styling, the car soon realized a cult following that has stayed with it through today. Styling influences from this very car are easily seen on the back of the new volvo c30 series cars, with it’s signature large rear backlight area. Most collector cars are impractical to utilize as daily drivers, however, the volvo P1800 is just the opposite. Many of these cars have several hundred thousand miles on them, as their owners found them reliable, economical, sporty, unique, practical and most of all fun to drive. This example shows very, very low mileage on the odometer, at just 68304 miles. This matches the oral history conveyed by the owner of some 33 years. This was a coveted piece of art kept dry and safe by a long time Volvo club of America member. New floor pans were added in 2006. A complete restoration was begun in 2014. After a month of curing, the car was color sanded and polished to a high lustre. She rides on factory styled steel wheels with correct rings and new tires. The roof mounted luggage rack is not present but we have one available separately if so desired. All rubber parts were in excellent shape or they were replaced. Glass is original and excellent. The interior is in superb shape. Excellent and supple original leather interior. The dash pad is excellent and original to this car. New carpet installed. Factory console and floor shifter. Original gauges in place. Excellent headliner. Stainless trim is excellent. It was removed, straightened to perfection and polished before installation. Chrome is fresh and new. New OEM exhaust system from the header to the tailpipes. Fresh tune and oil change. This car runs, drives and stops exactly like it is supposed to do. Everything works the way it was intended by the manufacturer. A complete build book is included.
