You won't be high-centering this one on a rock you didn't see. It's properly outfitted with headlights, turn signals, horn, bumpers (well, kind of), and taillights, both down low and up high, so it's plenty visible in traffic. It's also a ton of fun to scoot through bigger, slower cars as if you're driving a 4-wheeled motorcycle. A pair of racing buckets were bolted to the frame, diamond plate floors were fabricated for protection from below, and you get the minimum equipment needed to operate a motor vehicle. Once you're in there, it's actually quite comfortable, and the passenger gets a convenient grab handle that's there, you know, just in case. For the driver, there's a deep-dish competition-style steering wheel, a 4-speed shifter with a T-handle, and a set of Equus gauges that include speedometer, voltmeter, tachometer, and oil pressure to monitor the engine. No radio, no heater, no A/C, nothing that would get in the way of having fun and going fast. Honestly, you'll have more fun watching the front wheels do their thing and the reactions of the motorists around you than you would listening to the radio anyway. The roof is another sheet of diamond plate, not really designed to keep the rain off your head, but maybe it'll keep the sun out of your eyes when you're out playing. It's titled as a 1973 Volkswagen Beetle because most of the hardware came from one. The engine is a familiar air-cooled flat-four that was professionally built for this car and its intended purpose. Dual carbs, custom exhaust headers, and plenty of chrome make it not only fast, but an attractive part of the overall look. It's clearly designed for severe environments with heavy-duty fittings and braided stainless hoses, as well as a big polished gas tank mounted up high. Four-wheel independent suspension allows it to leap over obstacles without getting hurt and with 4-wheel disc brakes, it stops as well as it goes, another advantage of its tiny curb weight. Chrome wheels don't need to be massive to be effective and with staggered 216/65/15 front and 295/50/15 rear radials, it doesn't mind prowling the streets or the trails.
