We'll begin with the number 1. As in: this 1955 F100 is quite possibly the nicest, or '1 of' the nicest, pickups on the planet. Of course, a number that substantial has to have quite a few more numbers to back it up. So, how about 4.5? As in: 4.5 years worth of restoration and customization. Then there's 112,000. As in: $112,000 worth of parts and materials for that restoration and customization. Next comes 295,000. As in: $295,000 worth of labor during that restoration and customization. And last but certainly not least: 425,000 and, once again, 1. As in: the amount the truck appraised for just 1 short year ago. Looking for a world-class showstopper that's above and beyond pretty much anything outside of six-figure corporate builds? Fix your gaze on this incredible custom Effie! BODYWORK/TRIM Professionally rehabilitated and customized during a 6-figure, 4.5-year restoration, this striking F100 spent most of its life as a no-frills American workhorse. In what amounted to a systematic, no-expense-spared rebuild, its solid body was completely stripped, hand-altered and layered in a modified coat of Toyota Hot Lava PPG Deltron 2-stage. And today, the truck rolls as a game changing half-ton that's one part lust and two parts envy! If this Ford is any indication, roughly half a million dollars nets some very impressive attributes. At the front of the truck, a smoothed and painted grille hangs modern halo headlights above clear parking lamps and a modified valance that swaps factory chrome for monochromatic trim. Behind that grille, a shaved hood leads the eye to smoked glass, which plants singled side windows between shaved drip rails and Specialty intermittent wipers. Look closely at the top of that glass and you'll notice that the truck's rather large forehead has been significantly streamlined thanks to careful pancaking and a few inches of forward tilt. Opposite that roof, a flowing profile centers shaved doors and slender hot rod mirrors above custom running boards that frame low-profile exhaust pipes. Those boards melt into heavily modified fenders that, thanks to fresh wheel openings, are completely centered on the trucks axles. Between those fenders, a completely custom bed frames a billet fuel filler in satin-finish wood. And at the back of that bed, a custom tailgate flows in to a custom roll pan that's embedded with Cadillac LED taillights. ENGINE Hoist the shaved and insulated bonnet and you'll find 5.4 liters of Ford mod motor that, thanks to a color-keyed supercharger, twists big horsepower into gobs of stump-pulling torque! At the top of the Jet Black mill, a monochromatic pipe shuttles wind from a remote air cleaner to a Ford throttle body. That wind joins fossils thanks to Ron Francis wiring and Ford electronic injection, which make excellent use of Ford fuel rails and custom fuel lines. As that reaction turns into compression, resultant gases are jettisoned through custom stainless headers. That compression's cooling is provided by a custom aluminum radiator, which stores water in front of a requisite puller fan. There's a modern serpentine system that spins a fresh alternator beside a modern AC compressor. And, aesthetically, the truck's custom engine compartment is exceptionally well done, featuring first-rate ancillaries like SVT coil covers, Canton fluid tanks, a fresh brake booster, a billet hood latch and a billet-secured Optima battery. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION One peek under this sweet F100 reveals some of the best work money can buy. First and foremost, a heavily modified frame is sandwiched between stainless hardware and color-keyed, undercoated floors. Behind the five-four, an AODE Super StreetFighter 4-speed, rated for up to 500 horsepower, utilizes a 2,400 RPM stall to twist a custom driveshaft. At the end of that driveshaft, a proven Ford 9-inch spins a posi-traction differential around smooth gears and tough, 31-spline axles. That first rate drivetrain pushes a modern 4-link suspension, which features adjustable coil-over-shocks. Tracking is provided by a Heidts Superide front-half, which centers Flaming River power rack-and-pinion steering between two more adjustable coil-overs. Braking is equally class, with Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers squeezing a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. The aforementioned headers dump spent gases in to stainless, billet-strung pipes, which breathe through throaty Flowmaster mufflers. There's a Rick's stainless fuel tank that's built around an internal fuel pump. And power meets the pavement through Colorado Custom Leadville Aces, which twist 255/45R18 Toyo Proxes in front of 295/45R20 Toyo Proxes. INTERIOR Pop this Ford's electronic doors and you'll find a completely custom interior that blends Hot Lava paint with supple leather trim. Front and center, a tastefully modified dash seats classy VDO telemetry amid components for proven Vintage Air climate control. Opposite that dash, modern bucket seats stretch tight hides under polished buttons. Between those seats, a custom console centers a slender Lokar shifter in front of a polished hand brake and hidden Custom Autosound audio. At the bottom of that console, custom sills frame premium, orange-lit carpet, which rides under color-keyed floor mats and metal foot pedals. At the edges of that carpet, tailored door panels prop billet handles in front of Specialty power windows. At the top of those windows, a sculpted headliner bridges the gap between a billet mirror and leather cab panels. And the driver stays connected to the road through a tilting Flaming River column and color-keyed Budnik wheel. But, when it comes to restoration, dedicated fans of the 'Professional Grade' division have a rich legacy of preserving unique and exceptionally well-done offerings that cause a big stir every time they roll out of the garage. A first-class showstopper that celebrates the all-American class of vintage pickups, this immaculate half-ton capitalizes on GM's timeless design and GMC's innate exclusivity. And, whether you're a diehard GMC fan, an old school truck lover or just a curious buyer who's looking for something a bit different, it's a cool classic that 'fires on all cylinders'! BODYWORK/TRIM After World War II, GM rolled out its Advance Design pickups nearly a full year ahead of its revised passenger cars. Why? Well, most agree that, because truck production continued throughout the war, the General's body dies were getting worn and needed replaced. It's a simple answer, and the kind of thinking you'd probably expect behind such a wonderfully uncomplicated machine. This pristine 100's head-turning appeal comes courtesy of a 4-year, frame-off restoration that sealed a solid Georgia body in fantastic Narva Green pigment. That pigment, PPG acrylic urethane enamel founded on 100% sandblasted sheetmetal and PPG epoxy primer, was correctly highlighted with hand-painted gold pin striping. And everything adds up to one clean, acutely detailed classic that's been finished to 100% show worthy standards! As the Korean War strained supplies of nickel and copper, metals essential to the chrome plating process, most GM trucks began leaving the factory with fully painted surfacing. In addition to making pickups like this GMC true 'plain Jane' builds, that treatment underscored the offerings' utilitarian nature and eventually increased collectability. At the front of this 100, a color-keyed grille hangs bright "GMC" lettering between a black bumper, fresh headlights and small, white-trimmed parking lamps. Behind that grille, a split windshield leads a 'six footer' cab that's framed in small visors, polished stainless wipers and a color-keyed driver's mirror. Beneath that mirror, stylized door handles ride between correct hood emblems, a locking fuel filler and black running boards. And at the back of those boards, a "GMC" branded tailgate centers painted Yellow Pine planks between sleeved chains, chrome-trimmed tail lamps and an optional bumper. ENGINE Peer in to the truck's super clean engine bay and you'll find a correct, 228 cubic inch 6-cylinder that's been completely rebuilt and fully detailed. Designed from the ground up to be a tough-as-nails workhorse, and serving as primary GMC power for well over a decade, this stalwart mill is a favorite among vintage GM truck fans because of its simple design, adequate power and excellent durability. And, with the exception of carefully updated electronics, pretty much everything on the block has been returned to intentional, factory-spec simplicity. At the top of the engine, a small Zenith carburetor mixes air, supplied by a dressed cleaner, with fuel that's piped through fresh stainless fluid lines. That carb rides on a cast, factory-spec intake, which floats above a cast, factory-spec exhaust manifold. Opposite that manifold, a tagged Delco-Remy distributor sequences fire between fresh plug wires, a stealthy YnZs Yesterdays Parts harness and a 12-volt Delco-Remy generator. An original, re-cored radiator provides cooling with the help of a stock pulley fan. And items like a Delco-Remy starter, a color-keyed, "GMC" branded valve cover and a full assortment of decals ensure the bright orange powerplant is very impressive to look at. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION During restoration, considerable research was conducted to make sure this 100 is as period correct as possible. And when you crawl under the truck, body-matched floors and a Satin Black frame highlight a roster of factory-spec components that appear to have never seen the slightest hint of inclement weather. Power meets the pavement through a Saginaw 3-speed, which is tied to a 10-bolt rear end that spins big, 4.11 gears. Correct leaf springs and big drum brakes occupy all four corners of the chassis, mixing rugged road prowess with firm and solid stops. A standard, single-pipe exhaust system runs the entire length of the truck. And everything rolls on 6.50-16 B.F Goodrich Silvertowns, which lap correct, stripe-less wheels and correctly painted hubcaps. INTERIOR GMCs of this era were honest, no nonsense trucks marketed directly at farmers who didn't really want, and generally couldn't afford, superfluous frills. And nowhere is that sentiment more apparent than inside the cab. For starters, the slick body's Narva Green paint is snuffed in favor of a calming tan hue; which spreads from a correctly painted dash to the roof, window frames and a stylish, red-trimmed steering wheel. A correct bench seat, restored with custom SMS trim and correct synthetic horsehair padding, combines with correct side panels to highlight a brand of nostalgic utilitarianism that's no longer found in showroom-fresh offerings. Beneath that seat, a heavy-duty floor mat disappears behind a factory heater. An optional rearview mirror joins Juliano's 3-point seatbelts to greatly improve safety. And everything, from the truck's original telemetry to its mirrored door handles, is restored, sorted and ready to roll. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONA vintage GMC marketing brochureAn original Owner's and Driver's ManualAn original Maintenance ManualA 2015 calendar Whether it's simple nostalgia, or their long list of extremely useful design virtues, one thing is certain: trucks NEVER go out of style. So the one you really want not only looks great, but in the case of this 1977 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT, also has unique tale to share with your friends. The two tone metallic Jade finish with light Jade insert has the kind of premium appearance you would expect from the range-topping XLT Ranger. Because this truck was a top trim available in 1977, it came with all that great chrome separating the colors on the sides and tailgate. Plus, this has rustic wood inserts within the brightwork, all of which still looks amazing today. However, this truck's appearance is also is built for function. For example, the shiny bed rails and brand new bed liner not only make this pickup ready for the show field on Saturday, but it can also hold down your Home Depot run on Sunday. One look at the super-straight body, and it's obvious this wasn't some contractor's beater... but there's an even deeper story of owner loyalty. Take a look at the trim tag. This Ford was order by district 22 Charlotte, North Carolina. So nearly 40 years later, this pickup is still selling out of its home district. If the exterior looked fantastically original, then you'll love the interior even more. Just like the outside color, inside is the factory-correct Jade. There are some signs of a quality restoration, such as on the vinyl bench seat. This F-100 is exceptionally original from the steering wheel to the wood paneling surround the dashboard. But just because this feels like a 1970s time machine, doesn't mean you'll go wanting in the driver's seat. This pickup has options that were rare for these working-class Fords such as an AM/FM radio and ice-cold air conditioning. Having these desirable features in working order today is something worth showing off. Under the hood is a 351 cubic-inch V8 that was freshly built earlier this summer, so you can truly rely on this pickup every day. It has a nice even rumble from the Flowmaster dual exhaust that is robust without being too boisterous. The powerplant is mated to Ford's C6 three-speed automatic transmission. This heavy-duty unit is a nice upgrade to keep this pickup ready for work at a moment's notice. But for the times when you just want to go for a drive, this F-100 has power steering, power brakes with discs up front, and modern BF Goodrich T/A tires to keep it an easy-going cruiser. This loaded F-100 is turnkey ready for all-day work or play. How many classics can you say that about today for under $20K? 1977 Ford F-100 for Sale 1977 Ford F-100 for Sale Stock # 3088-CHA Charlotte Showroom 5400 West WT Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28269 Local/International: (704) 598-2130 Toll-Free: (866) 542-8392 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Atlanta Showroom 213 Thornton Rd Lithia Springs, GA 30122 Local/International: (678) 279-1609 Toll-Free: (877) 367-1835 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM EST Sat: 9AM - 5PM EST Email: [email protected] Dallas/Fort Worth Showroom 5400 Sandshell Dr Fort Worth, TX 76137 Local/International: (817) 764-8000 Toll-Free: (855) 877-2707 Hours: Tues - Fri: 9AM - 6PM CST Sat: 9AM - 5PM CST Email: [email protected] TERMS OF SALE 1. From the stalwart C-Series to the hardcore Raptor, every iteration of 'Built Ford Tough' has transformed a solid clientele of buyers into a devout following of gearheads. Over the past few years, we've featured plenty of vintage, ground-pounding blue ovals, and this sleek '49 resto-mod is just the latest in a series of sweet F-Series head turners. Mixing a tweaked Windsor and tough C6 3-speed with bodywork that'll sit well at any car show, this road-ready warrior is worthy of EVERY Ford fan's full attention. If you're shopping for a clean classic that mixes modern detailing with purposeful simplicity, take a close look at this slick F1! A mostly solid work truck that hails from Oregon, this super cool pickup recently received a roof-to-rocker makeover that was completed in the fall of 2012. That body-off reboot started with a through sandblasting, which lead to repaired floorpans and reworked running boards. With those minor rust issues addressed, Tom Phillips Woodworks of Ashland, Oregon bolted up some hand-rubbed Hickory sideboards. Then the truck traveled to Carrs Auto Body in Gold Hill, Oregon where a clean coat of BMW Bronzit 2-stage was completely color-sanded and carefully buffed. And today, that pigment's combination of excellent reflections and Kansas-flat surfaces showcases a subdued and sophisticated classic that's essentially timeless. Not surprisingly, this awesome Ford's first rate detailing highlights both its solid form and smoothed lines. At the front of the truck, a vented hood rides above bold "F O R D" lettering, a chrome, Ford-branded grille and clean halogen headlights. At the sides of that grille, a pinstriped profile hangs simple "F1" emblems below twisting door handles and arced mirrors. At the top of that profile, tinted glass rides between electronic windshield wipers, a custom Center High Mount Stop Lamp and a stainless-trimmed, Hickory bed. And at the back of that bed, a striped and "Ford" branded tailgate hangs above polished taillights and a small chrome bumper. Toss the truck's lightweight hood and you'll find a 351 cubic inch Windsor crate motor that creates a stout 325 horsepower. Wholly appropriate, since the cast iron Windsor is well known for its rugged durability, this hot rod was built to tow AND haul! At the top of the proven mill, a polished Edelbrock carburetor rides under a clean K&N X-Stream air filter. Below that carburetor, a coated Edelbrock Performer RPM intake anchors a high quality MSD Pro-Billet distributor between polished Ford Racing valve covers and loomed MSD Super Conductor plug wires. And, below those wires, heat-wrapped shorties funnel spent gases in to a 3-inch exhaust system while a color-keyed Walker radiator cycles water around March pulleys and an electric puller fan. As you can see, the thoroughly massaged engine bay wears matching Bronzit skin. All the motor's ancillary components, from its MSD coil and Lokar throttle linkage to its braided fluid lines and American Autowire wiring, are high quality aftermarket pieces. And, if you're a sucker for the details, the truck's airbrushed battery box is an enduringly cool touch. During its youth, this classic spent most days living outside and working hard. So, when the time came for rebirth, the truck was a prime candidate for thorough modernization. Nowhere is that theme more evident than under the skin. The 351's power flows from a kitted C6 3-speed to a sturdy Strange 9-inch that's fitted with a limited-slip differential and beefy 3.73 gears. That familiar drivetrain pushes a professionally boxed and braced chassis on gas shocks and traditional leaf springs. Tracking is provided by a Total Cost Involved front clip, which benefits from gas shocks, power rack-and-pinion steering and 2-inch drop spindles. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power-assisted discs at all four corners. At the center of the floor, custom, 3-inch exhaust, which along with the truck's fuel tank was built by Medford's own Allin Specialties Cars & Automotive, breathes through a throaty Magnaflow muffler. And, at the corners of the chassis, Wheel Vintiques steelies twist 255/50R17 Yokohama S/Ts in front of 275/60R17 Yokohama S/Ts. When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a stylish and comfortable cockpit that was detailed by Greg's Upholstery in Grants Pass, Oregon. Top dead center, a clean dash hangs Auto Meter telemetry above well-integrated ducting for modern air conditioning. In front of that dash, a cushy Glide seat, which features a folding armrest, wears a supple ultraleather hide. At the sides of that seat, ultraleather door panels anchor traditional chrome handles above tidy pulls. Under those panels, clean carpet founds color-keyed floor mats beneath Lokar foot pedals and a familiar Lokar shifter. Opposite that carpet, a tweed headliner stretches tight behind a polished mirror and matching sun visors. And in front of the driver, a tilting column spins a Carrera banjo-style steering wheel. The sale of this gentrified workhorse includes an album of restoration photos, a 2012 appraisal from Auto Appraisal Network, a showboard, a vinyl bed floor cover and a complete car cover. Perpetually cool and visually stunning, this awesome Ford is a classic example of the skill and creativity that defines our hobby. With its clean craftsmanship and excellent asking price, it presents the rare opportunity to land a well-done trophy winner that doubles as a well-done road warrior. [email protected] 5527 Lakeview Road, Charlotte, NC, 28269, US 1956 Ford F100 Award Winning F100 Pickup Supercharged 400 V8 700R4 4 Speed A/C PS Year: 1956 Type of vehicle title: Clear Primary color: Red Mileage: 349 Transmission type: 4 Speed Automatic Engine: 400 V8 Interior color: White Vehicle Info The Ford F-Series is known across the globe as a tough, virtually unbreakable workhorse. Through solid engineering and fresh innovation, America's best-selling nameplate has dominated the full-size truck market for close to 30 years. With that in mind, the demand for classic trucks has never been hotter. And that means, after a lifetime of dedicated service, more and more of these gladiators are being retired to dry garages and leisurely show fields. One such stalwart is this magazine-featured F100. The beneficiary of an extensive, frame-off restoration, this award-winning Effie wraps a dressed small block and elegant interior in many well-thought modifications that make it a perfect candidate for miles of parade and years of display. If you're in the market for a stand out classic, settle in and take a closer look at this sweet Ford pickup! Purchased as a solid California driver, this F100 continued to work on a farm even after the first restoration of its mostly-original sheetmetal. But it wasn't long until the pickup had become the pride of its family, and its owners decided to move forward with an epic, no-holds-barred teardown. After being shipped to a well-known shop by the name of Hot Rod Fabrication in Auburn, Washington, the truck's body was entirely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned. Once that tough fuselage was reassembled and two-times blocked, two coats of Epoxy primer laid a nice foundation for modern Ford Toreador Red Metallic base. That pigment was detailed with an Oak bed, which underwent its own process of rejuvenation via Vermont Maple stain, lots of sanding and three coats of resin. And everything was eventually sprayed in a slick layer of urethane clear. In late 2006, the truck was rolled out of the paint booth to be lovingly wet-sanded and carefully polished. And today, a little over $267K later, this classy hot rod is one sizzling show-stopper that's cooler than pretty much every car at any show its owner chooses to attend! A big part of successfully marketing cars and trucks is coming up with memorable but sometimes cheesy slogans. You might find this clich, but 'Built Ford Tough' and 'Built To Last' perfectly describe this fine custom. Despite taking on the softer attributes of a street rod, it still maintains the rugged good looks of traditional Ford trucks. And, thanks to the previous owner's carefully planned modifications, it has a distinct charm that'll last for generations. That charm begins with a bright chrome grille, which hangs a big "V8" emblem and modern tri-bar headlights over integrated parking lamps and a classy chrome bumper. Behind that grille, a CPP reverse-tilt hood positions intricate Ford emblems around a filled cowl and capped windshield wipers. At the sides of that hood, broad fenders lead the eye to rounded doors, traditional door handles, custom running boards and a custom fuel door. At the top of those fenders, an exclusive 'Big Window' cab hangs filled seams and an original backlite behind small mirrors, correct "Custom Cab" emblems and stylish stainless trim. And at the back of the truck, a chained, "FORD" stamped tailgate rides between "Ford" branded taillights and a second classy bumper. Sometimes looks can be deceiving. Case in point: the fact that this truck's grille sports a broad Ford V8 badge when, in reality, its conservative Y-Block was long ago exchanged for a modern Chevy small block that's been professionally rebuilt, fully finished and bored out to a stout 411 cubic inches! At the top of that smoothed mill, a polished air cleaner funnels wind in to a Holley 750 carburetor that's serviced by polished fuel lines, an Auto Meter pressure gauge, braided fuel hoses and a coated Edelbrock pump. Below that carb, a polished B&M 144 supercharger feeds milled, ported and polished Edelbrock Performer heads, which anchor stainless valves and Crane roller rockers beneath aluminum, "CHEVROLET" branded valve covers. Below those heads, Eagle H-beam connecting rods push dished Keith Black pistons at the sides of a beefy Crane roller cam. Combustion is sparked by MSD 8360 ignition, which is hooked to a traditional points distributor, loomed Taylor plug wires and Jacobs ceramic plug boots. Cooling comes courtesy of a custom Ron Davis radiator, a big pulley fan, polished fluid tubes and a coated Edelbrock water pump. And spent gases travel through custom, long-tube headers that bolt in proximity to a modern serpentine system, which spins a polished alternator opposite a Vintage Air AC compressor. Aesthetically, the jet-black mill contrasts well against great looking dress up items like a polished overflow tank, a polished K&N fuel filter and a high quality Lokar throttle linkage. And concealed American Autowire electronics combine with a 4-inch recessed firewall to seamlessly accommodate the truck's slightly relocated drivetrain. Every good hot rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix classic looks with modern mobility. Behind the big-bore engine, a smoothed and race-prepped 700R4 4-speed makes good use of a 2,800 RPM torque converter. That converter twists power to a powder-coated Lincoln Versailles axle, which spins 4.11 Richmond gears. Holding that tough transmission off the ground is an F2 Camaro front half, which frames beefy Eibach springs and a GM Saginaw steering box in proven Fat Man control arms. Holding that exclusive rear end off the ground is a Ford back half, which utilizes relocated spring mounts to hang custom Southwest leaf springs. All that impressive hardware gravitates around a boxed and smoothed frame that's been braced with tubular cross members. The drivetrain's momentum is countered by GM front disc brakes, Ford rear disc brakes and a heavy duty Wilwood proportioning valve. The custom, 3-inch headers flow into a 3-inch, ceramic-coated exhaust system that shuffles spent gases through throaty Flowmaster mufflers. Everything rolls on 16-inch Centerline wheels, which spin 225/55 BF Goodrich Comp T/As in front of 255/50 BF Goodrich Comp T/As. And everything, from the truck's Milodon oil pan to its shortened driveshaft, is fully sorted and ready to roll! 1-part vintage and 1-part modern, this pickup's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of an old school Hot Rod magazine. At the front of the cockpit, a red-capped dash centers a Clarion CD player between simple air conditioning vents, small MQQN gauges and a modified speedo that was tweaked by United Speedometer Service. In front of that dash, a hand-stuffed, Tijuana-style seat seems appropriate to the feel of the truck's restoration. At the bottom of that seat, Dynamat insulation anchors premium carpet under a Lokar shifter, billet foot pedals, and piped and color-keyed floor mats. Opposite that carpet, a fiberglass headliner anchors an original speaker and dome lamp behind an original, body-matched mirror. At the edges of that liner, custom side panels integrate power windows, chrome door handles and sculpted armrests behind modern kick speakers. In front of the driver, a polished and leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel laps a cool MQQN tachometer, which is anchored to a tilting Ididit column. And behind the passengers, a custom stainless fuel tank rides under a requisite fire extinguisher. The proud new owner of this American icon will receive:An original data plateA stack of restoration receiptsA copy of the truck's April, 2007 feature in Custom Classic Trucks MagazineA binder that includes a detailed restoration history and numerous restoration photosA pair of stainless windshield wipers The classic truck market has never been better, and customs like this svelte F100 are a testament as to why. With a reliable, well-dressed drivetrain, comfortable custom interior and clean lines all around, this Ford is guaranteed to turn heads everywhere it goes. Well-built pickups generally don't hang around our showroom for very long. Don't miss the chance to add this incredible ride to your collection! John thought, rightfully so, that Chevrolet's L72 427 could be a lot of fun in the blue collar brand's most blue collar offering, and he spent much of the next year enjoying his new toy at local drag strips. In June of 1967, when John headed to Vietnam to defend our freedom, the Biscayne found its second owner in 20 year old Leroy Levens. Still wet behind the ears, Levens threw a few go fast pieces on the car and promptly blew its original engine. Luckily, a service replacement block was located and Levens, honing his racing skills on both the road and track, eventually blistered the strip with a best time of 12.69 @ 106MPH. As the years passed, Levens continued to back the car out of the garage for sunny day joyrides and, eventually, coordinated a frame-off restoration which included a roster of NOS components. In 1986, sporting fresh Tuxedo Black lacquer, the Bisquick caught the eye of New Jersey resident Joseph Fasano. And, after 24 months of negotiations, Fasano purchased the car and promptly detailed it to factory-correct guise using many dated components. The next 25 years included a lot of time on the trailer, many award-winning appearances at Super Chevy shows and a couple hundred miles of careful road time. And, circa 2013, the car was purchased by its current, Ohio-based owner who spent $7,000 and 300 hours freshening its original sheetmetal and smooth lacquer paint. With a wet-look finish and subtle branding, this Biscayne is an intentionally low-key take on the fundamentals of every hard-edged muscle car: tough looks, sturdy components, reduced weight and tons of power! At the front of the car, a broad stainless grille hangs a bright Chevrolet crest and small AACA plaque between a two-tone bumper, four T3 headlights and clear parking lamps. At the sides of that grille, mandatory door handles and a bowtie-branded mirror complement the natural simplicity of NOS ornamentation. At the tops of those handles, straight stainless trim highlights correctly-dated glass. And at the back of the car, 'plain Jane' tail lamps float between a broad chrome bumper, a second Chevrolet crest and an off-set "Chevrolet" script. Pop this sedan's wide hood and you'll find a fully detailed, date-correct 427 which is branded with a familiar 3869942 casting number. Introduced as the ultimate option for street-prowling bowties, Chevrolet's storied L72 big block spins stout 11 to 1 compression into an as advertised 425 horsepower. At the top of the all-business mill, an NOS dual-snorkel air cleaner funnels wind through a correct Holley 3246 carburetor. That carb rides on a correct Winters intake, which hangs between correct, cast iron heads that benefit from 3-angle valve jobs. Those heads sit on a .030-bored block that's fitted with stock pistons and a correct L72 solid lifter cam. At the back of that cam, correct but deactivated transistor ignition shoots spark through date-coded Packard TV R Suppression cables. Below those cables, correct exhaust manifolds jettison baked Sinclair into a big, true-dual exhaust system. In front of those manifolds, GM-coded belts spin a correct alternator above an NOS fan clutch and idler pulley. And, at the front of the engine, an original, L72 Biscayne-exclusive radiator is fitted with a correct shroud, a correct finger guard, GM-branded hoses and old school tower clamps. Bright Chevy Orange paint coats the block and, as always, looks great against a fully finished hood and glossy inner fenders. Correct decals are present and accounted for. And niceties such as stainless fuel lines, a Delco-branded coil and a high quality Delco battery topper ensure the car looks just as good as it runs. Park this Biscayne on a lift and you'll find a solid undercarriage that's been no stranger to mirrors and occasional flash bulbs. Straight floorpans, restored in the same Satin Black livery that details the car's engine bay, ride on a sturdy black frame. An era-correct Muncie feeds a familiar GM 12-bolt, which spins a posi-traction differential around big, 4.56 gears. Under that capable drivetrain, a completely rebuilt F41 sports suspension is equipped with manual steering and 4-wheel drum brakes. At the center of the floors, an aluminized, true-dual exhaust system utilizes throaty turbo mufflers to weave an aggressive, full-throttle rumble into a subdued and classy idle. At the corners of the suspension, great looking G78-14 Goodyear Power Streak IIs frame painted steelies and red-detailed hub caps. And everything, from this Chevy's NOS shocks to its leak-free fuel tank, is fully restored and ready to hit the pavement. Decked in correct red hides, this sedan's stunning interior has been returned to factory-fresh condition in virtually every way. The wide bench seats feel newer than their NOS covers suggest, and present just as well now as the day they rolled out of the dealership. At the base of those seats, like-new carpet is protected by thick, color-keyed floor mats. At the sides of that carpet, a combination of original and reproduction door panels hang straight stainless trim around simple chrome handles and small, modernist armrests. At the front of those panels, a restored dash, which features a rare, 7,000RPM tachometer, carries what appears to be a correct radio. At the base of that dash, a stylish chrome shifter rows around an NOS boot and baseplate. Opposite that shifter, an original mirror fronts a bright white headliner. In front of the driver, a color-keyed steering wheel spins around a classy blue bowtie. And behind the passengers, a spattered trunk seals a full-size spare tire below clean decklid decals. In the golden era, few muscle cars could hang with Chevrolet's 'taxi cab special'. And today, few collector cars can eclipse its status as one of the baddest street bruisers to ever wear a bowtie. If you're looking for a unique classic, a killer sleeper, or a proven vintage show queen, you're staring at your next car! From the AK era forward, every generation has found a solid following and, eventually, firm footing in the collector car world. Over the past few years, we've featured plenty of vintage, ground-pounding bowties, and this sleek '55 resto-mod is just the latest in a series of sweet Advance Design head turners. Mixing a Corvette small block and tough GM 4-speed with bodywork that'll sit well on any show field, this road-ready warrior is worthy of EVERY Chevrolet fan's full attention. If you're shopping for a clean classic that mixes modern detailing with purposeful simplicity, take a close look at this slick 3100! A mildly modified custom when found by its current owner, this super cool pickup recently received a roof-to-rocker makeover courtesy of Bob Tooke in New Caney, Texas. That body-off reboot started in 2012, when an incredibly straight fuselage met new rockers and fresh cab corners. That fuselage, which features better-than-factory alignment, makes great use of deep Burgundy two-stage. And that pigment's combination of excellent reflections and Kansas-flat surfaces suggest many labor-intensive hours were spent exacting top-notch finish work. While its basic shape is certainly appealing, first-rate detailing is what makes this Chevy really pop. At the front of the truck, a trick billet grille rides between a smoothed bumper, chrome-trimmed headlights and a shaved header crest. Behind that crest, a domed hood leads the eye to a 'big window' cab that's sealed in smoked glass and bright stainless wipers. At the sides of those wipers, a completely shaved profile incorporates a custom fuel filler behind electronically activated doors. Behind those doors, a spectacular wood bed is detailed with stainless skid strips and LED rail plugs. And at the back of the truck, a smoothed tailgate reflects flush-fit tail lights and a custom rollpan. Toss the hood and you'll find a GM LS1 crate engine that's good for a solid 350 horsepower. At the front of the low-profile mill, a modern serpentine system spins a polished alternator and polished AC compressor below a polished air cleaner. Once air enters that cleaner, it flows from a polished Professional Products throttle body in to a polished Professional Products intake, which is bolted down over GM-spec internals. High octane fossils are provided by electronic fuel injection. Sparks are sequenced through high performance Taylor plug wires. Spent gases are whisked away by a slick pair of ceramic-coated shorty headers. And cooling comes courtesy of a PRC aluminum radiator that's complete with a quick-spinning electric puller fan. On the visual end of the spectrum, mirrored injector covers nicely highlight the truck's deep paint while covering the less attractive part of GM's aluminum block design. The smoothed firewall and glossy engine compartment are completely detailed to match that deep paint. And niceties such as polished fuel lines, trick dipsticks and a body-matched hood add the kind of flash that starts conversations and wins fans. During its youth, this classic spent most days living outside and working hard. So, when the time came for rebirth, the truck was a prime candidate for thorough modernization. Nowhere is that theme more evident than under the skin. The LS1's power flows from a rebuilt 4L60E 4-speed to sturdy, fourth generation Corvette axles. That familiar drivetrain pushes a boxed, braced and powder-coated chassis on a fourth generation Corvette suspension. Tracking is provided by a custom front clip which, modeled after a 1988 Monte Carlo, features Global West control arms and modern power steering. Quick stops are a cinch thanks to power-assisted, GM-style discs at all four corners. At the center of the floor, true-dual exhaust breathes through throaty turbo mufflers. At the corners of the chassis, polished Centerline wheels twist 225/60R17 Michelin Energy LX4s. And everything, from the truck's hidden brake booster and quality master cylinder to its high-pressure fuel pump and 22-gallon fuel tank, is well-planned, well executed and ready to work its magic! When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a stylish and comfortable cockpit that was installed by Duke's Custom Upholstery of Porter, Texas. Top dead center, a smoothed dash hangs Dakota Digital gauges above a Pioneer CD player and hardware for Vintage Air climate control. In front of that dash, cushy bucket seats wear supple leather hides. At the sides of those seats, leather door panels hang small, billet handles in front of convenient power windows. Under those panels, clean carpet anchors color-keyed floor mats between a custom console, custom foot pedals and a familiar Lokar shifter. Opposite that carpet, an ornate headliner stretches tight behind a polished mirror and matching sun visors. And in front of the driver, a tilting steering column spins a polished and half-wrapped wheel. The sale of this smoothed and gentrified workhorse includes restoration photos, restoration receipts and a plaque from the truck's first place showing at the 10th Annual Friendswood Chamber of Commerce Car Show. Perpetually cool and visually stunning, this awesome Chevy is a classic example of the skill and creativity that defines our hobby. With its clean craftsmanship and excellent asking price, it presents the rare opportunity to land a well-done trophy winner that doubles as a well-done road warrior. Don't miss your chance to own this sweet resto-mod! About this auction & rk motors charlotte Please note that all sales are binding and final.
