TAIL LIGHT GLASS LENSES ARE PERFECT. ALL EMBLEMS ARE THERE, AND EVEN THE HORN RING ISN'T BROKE AND HORN BUTTON EMBLEM IS NICE. IT IS A REAL WONDER THAT THIS CAR HAS BEEN UN MOLESTED. IF YOU WANT AN UNUSUAL COOL CAR TO BUILD AS A SHOW STOPPER, OR JUST TO MAKE A RAT ROD, HERE IS THE PERFECT CAR. RARE OFFERING - 1968 OLDS TORONADO - VERY EXCELLENT CONDITION - 57,317 ACTUAL MILES - GARAGE KEPT - OFFERED FOR SALE BY SECOND OWNER - CLEAN TITLE - In 1966, Oldsmobile introduced its sporty but comfortable Toronado, which was based on the same A-body platform as the Cadillac Eldorado and Buick Riviera. The Toronado was most notable as the first American car since the Cord 812 to feature front-wheel drive and V-8 power as well as for its distinctive, angular styling and hidden headlamps. Prior to its introduction, the Toronado was extensively tested and developed, and it is believed that well over one million test miles were recorded to sort out the cars unorthodox front-drive layout. Such development work was necessary because the Toronados 425 cubic inch Super Rocket V-8 produced 385 horsepower, uncharted territory in the world of front-wheel drive. Its Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic was chain-driven from the engine, an ingenious solution to a difficult packaging problem. The Toronado impressed the motoring world, winning Motor Trends Car of the Year for 1966. Despite its 5,000-pound weight, the Toronado handled quite well and could reach the then noteworthy top speed of 135 miles per hour. The drive train was even used, mostly unchanged, in GMC motor homes of the 1970s. This 1968 Oldsmobile Toronado has been an Arkansas car since purchased new from Bradley Dealership in Tulsa, Oklahoma and a well maintained example. It is finished in an eye-catching turquoise with the sporty darker turquoise taunea roof trim and has a matching turquoise interior, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, automatic transferring the power from the 455 cu inch engine. I have for sale a southern, all original, barn find 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix hardtop with 59,000 original miles. This car was taken out of an old garage 3 months ago up by Tulsa Oklahoma. She Hadn't been driven in 20+ years. We brought it back to running condition the correct way, and that is it. It would be a shame to do anything but a show quality, frame off restoration on this car, so I will put it up for sale instead of doing what I can afford to do to it. The story we got from the owner's daughter is that her grandmother and grandfather bought it brand new in California after he came home from the Korean war. He actually was said to have went in early 1963 to the Cadillac dealership to buy a still new 1962 Coupe DeVille, and the dark blue, new body style Pontiac was sitting on the showroom floor. The grand daughter said her grand father said the car chose him at that point and not the other way around! Apparently, children were not allowed to ride in it. It was not that family car, and only Dad was allowed to drive it. It was garaged and waxed and washed and not driven much, and unfortunately put away in the garage wet, hence the rust around the rear quarters where water would collect and then not dry out, but rust can not be found anywhere else on the car. Nothing on the frame or underneath the car, just those rear quarters. The family moved to Arkansas in the late 70s due to a work transfer, and the car was driven less and less. Once the man of the house died, the car sat in a garage until the son bought it and put it in his garage in Claremore, Oklahoma in 1993, with intentions of restoration. His health failed, and therefore the car was barely ever driven, but always rinsed off afterwards, adding to the collection of water without evaporation. It was his daughter who sold us the car, as she needed it out of the garage and also wanted the money. Some people see these cars as giant metal paperweights, and I am just glad she didn't sell it for scrap.As you can see from the pictures, the cars interior and engine bay looks like a 59k original mile car. The body has the normal garage wear and tear, proving its lifetime inside. The car has the original 8 lug wheels, and every little thing on the car works. One of the old tires has a bubble in it, so there is a slight vibration when driving it, but it will run down the road just fine...and still has plenty of power! We do not want to see this car go to someone who is just going to do an ameture restoration on it. This is not a throw away car. This car was babied its entire life, and our hope is that someone will see the potential of it, and restore it back to its original glory.
