For moving your gear, advertising your business, or just having fun in an old truck, this one is pretty hard to beat. Quite honestly, there were no panel trucks making deliveries in the mid-1950s that looked this good. Sure, they were designed to be a bit more automobile-like than the heavy-duty haulers, but the gorgeous two-tone paint offers a period-correct combination that looks vastly better than what you could buy from the dealer. The restoration is extremely high quality, with super straight sheetmetal, exceptionally good panel fit, and gaps that strong suggest that this truck has never been wrecked, rusty, or even used particularly hard. Delightful chrome and stainless trim gives it an upscale look and must have cost a small fortune to restore, and gives the truck a fully-dressed look. Note the "speed streaks" on the fenders, the high-mounted taillights, and the familiar grille up front, all beautifully finished and sparkling against the pastel paint. The interior is basic, no-nonsense commercial vehicle fare, with a pair of comfortable vinyl-covered bucket seats for driver and passenger and a beautifully finished cargo bay behind them. The seats are nicely restored with period-correct materials and the usual tan interior color that was used across the line for easy of assembly. The three-spoke steering wheel should look familiar to legions of Chevy truck fans, framing a pair of big, round dials for all the major instruments plus an accessory clock perched up high. Radios were still optional in trucks (and many cars) in 1954, and there isn't one here, either, but it does have A/C added under the dash using clever eyeball vents that don't draw too much attention to themselves. Simple door panels are basic but that's all part of the charm and the workmanship is beautifully done so it looks far more expensive than it was when it was new. The floor of the cargo area was probably painted or finished in battleship linoleum when it was new, but it now sports gorgeous oak planks refinished better than the stuff in your living room and accented by plain fiber board side panels to give it a finished look. The 248 cubic inch inline-six retains the old-school feeling of the truck, and if you've driven a reliable "Stovebolt" you know they're smooth and torquey all out of proportion to their specifications. This one is fully rebuilt and sports a period Offenhauser dual carb intake and a set of Fenton exhaust manifolds that surely boost horsepower by a noticeable amount. Finned valve and side covers match the fins on the manifolds and the remainder of the engine bay is expertly detailed and finished. New wiring, careful routing of the A/C system plumbing, and a big radiator mean that someone was building this one to enjoy, not merely for show. It starts easily and cruises easily with modern traffic, thanks to an easy-shifting 4-speed manual transmission and you'll enjoy the burble of the twin glasspack-style mufflers made possible by those Fenton split manifolds. It's extremely clean underneath, showing only a few thousand miles of use since it was restored, and the gleaming 7.00-16 wide whites on color-matched steel wheels offer the perfect finishing touch. We all love a classic Jaguar because it is a handcrafted reminder of how fast can also be elegant. It's all about the sweeping curve that starts at the front fender, and flows all the way to the rear bumper in a wave pattern. It looks like a racer's scarf flowing at 100 mph. That's why it's essential to find an XK as exemplary as this one. The flow of all of the steel components must meet perfectly to make one cohesive masterpiece. Just look at intricate tapering design of doors that has the kind of labor-intensive process that no factory would dare undertake today. If these were not as straight and tight as this one, then the spell of this magic Jag would instantly be broken. Of course it also helps that this one sparkles a little brighter with every bit of brightwork re-chromed as part of a restoration that had taken place over the last year. This includes delicate two-piece front and rear bumpers, which were exclusive to the XK-120. One peek inside, and you'll be instantly transported back to Browns Lane in 1954. The leather on the bucket seats doesn't show a single crease because they've been recently recovered in the correct pattern. When you slip into the driver's seat, you're instantly reminded that the XK-120 had the attractive three-spoke wood wheel that didn't make it onto successors. The full set of Smiths gauges are a nice reminder of this car's speed record pedigree. But the roll up windows, and full convertible top of the drop head coupe (DHC) body add everyday civility to your speed. The XK-120's motor is what made it a legend. The 3.5-liter inline six cylinder looks perfect in the slim engine bay, and this is the original drivetrain as certified with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate. It was rebuilt less than 4,000 miles ago with the addition of an electric fan for added reliability. Some of you may already know the significance of the "M" model. This is also known as the Special Equipment (SE) designation, which raised the output from 160 hp, to 180 hp. This rare special edition actually gave this 1954 XK-120M similar performance to the heavier XK-140 that would debut the next year. But, beyond just power, these XKs were the driving darlings of their day, thanks features like the four speed manual transmission, and front suspension with transverse wishbones and elongated torsion bars. The package is competed with Coker steel belted radial whitewall tires on new Dayton chrome wire wheels. The DHC was a two-year only style for the XK-120, and the SE package makes this one exceptionally rare only about 706 were built in left-hand drive. The '54s are kind of stuck between the ultra-valuable first-year 1953s and the V8-powered '55s, and as a result, this car enjoyed some well-chosen upgrades that make it potent as well as stylish. If you want a Corvette that does it all, well, there aren't many choices better than this frame-off restored example. Yep, it's bright, and with the limited color pallet in 1954, yellow tends to stand out in a big way. It was repainted a few years ago and the fiberglass underneath is in good order, so you can roll up and show it off without a second thought. It shines up beautifully and there's no denying that these first Corvettes are great-looking cars. They kept all the factory curves and details, including the wonderful mini fins out back that flank the taillights, making this the perfect expression of 1950s performance. For an early Corvette, panel fit is great, especially the trunk which is difficult to fit on these cars. We love the toothy grille and the European race-inspired grilles over the headlights, and all the bright trim was restored before it was bolted back on. And this C1 has rebuilt, OEM side windows, which are incredibly rare and expensive (over $6k!), and are a wonderful period addition. Even the Plexiglas license plate lens in back is crystal clear. It's pretty darn easy to love this car. The interior doesn't stray too far from the stock look, but the more you look, the more you'll see the subtle upgrades that make it a joy to drive. The seats are stock-style buckets and the three-spoke steering wheel was designed to look like the original, but it's a little smaller, a little fatter, and wrapped in tan leather. A full set of Auto Meter gauges were precisely integrated into the original gauge slots in the dash, while the factory speedo is still ahead of the driver. An AM/FM/cassette stereo was neatly tucked up high so you don't really notice it and feeds speakers cleverly stashed throughout the interior, and a CD changer is stowed away nicely in the truck. Black carpets keep it from being too bright inside and help keep things quiet and cool and there's a Lokar shifter in the center that looks suitably vintage. Overhead there's a black canvas convertible top that fits well and the trunk is fully finished and ready for your next road trip. Instead of a Blue Flame Six under the hood, this 'Vette offers a proper V8; 400 cubic inches to be exact. The small block is a neat fit in the '54's engine bay and has all the modern upgrades that make it a blast to drive. Chrome dress-up, a mild Performance Cam, Holley 4-barrel carb, aluminum heads, and things like 12-volt electrical system with alternator and a big aluminum radiator, aluminum warer pump and electric fan up front help ensure cool reliability. It starts easily and in the relatively light weight Corvette, performance is impressive. A TH350 automatic transmission snaps through the gears and with 3.50 gears on a limited slip out back, it's snappy off the line. The suspension is fairly stock but does a good job of planting that horsepower and keeping the car on track, and the exhaust note is pure American muscle with Flowmasters and Hooker long-tube headers. Chrome wheels are the right choice on a car like this and they're wearing 215/65/15 BFG radials all around. This well-built '54 Corvette is all about having fun in a wicked cool old car. With a pro-built pedigree and a great look, you can buy with confidence and use it as the original engineers intended. Nostalgia being what it is, this cool hardtop fairly accurately re-creates the early '60s drag race experience in a slightly more user-friendly form that you can actually drive and enjoy on the street today. With a frame-off built and more than $40,000 in receipts, this wasn't a half-hearted project but rather a labor of love. If you were there, you will instantly recognize the look and while you don't see many Mercury Gassers, it certainly looks good dressed for combat. The body was smoothed and straightened, with many of the details being removed, including the door handles, side trim, and hood scoop/ornament. Nevertheless, it's still easy to spot its Mercury DNA, from the faired-in headlights to the distinctive shape of the rear fender and quarter panels, to the taillights, which are some of the most beautiful of the era. The paint has a good shine, almost too good to be a race car, but that's kind of the point with this car. There's not much chrome, and even the rear bumper has been painted to give it an industrial-strength look. Really, the only thing missing is some door art and a few larger sponsor decals, and suddenly it's 1962 all over again. At first glance, you'd think this is race car throughout, but then you notice just how beautifully crafted the interior really is. Sure, there are race-grade bucket seats with 5-point harnesses and a roll cage, but there's also a beautifully stitched headliner, gorgeous door panels that look straight out of the '50s, and a bright red dashboard with plenty of chrome trim. A custom billet aluminum insert hoses a full array of gauges and there's a monster tach up top where it'll do the most good. As a nod to civility, there's also a center console with cup holders and an AM/FM/CD stereo system with remote control. The windows are Lexan and can be completely removed and the trick shifter manages a PowerGlide 2-speed automatic transmission, which has long been the transmission of choice for drag racers. The trunk isn't for storage any longer, now housing a custom fuel cell and a pair of auxiliary jerry cans, just in case. The original Y-block just wouldn't hold up to the stresses of the track, so there's a more familiar 283 cubic inch Chevy V8 in its place. With an .030 overbore, 9:1 compression, high output heads, and an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor, it's plenty potent but also docile enough to be friendly on the street. It runs on pump gas and definitely has a race-ready look with heavy-duty ignition wires and chrome open-element air cleaner. Red paint on the block is a nod to its FoMoCo history, but that's the only thing Blue Oval under the hood. The aforementioned PowerGlide feeds what might be the original 3.59-geared rear end, which hangs on leaf springs augmented with traction bars. Speedway Motors supplied the straight axle kit and there's a Vega steering box which works well. Disc brakes, custom fender well headers and side pipes, and modern shocks add up to a car that's traditional but still usable. Weld skinnies and fat Torque Thrusts have that old-school look and carry suitable big-n-little radials to complete the look. This car isn't for everyone, we know that. But if you were there and respect the era, this car will take you back without forcing you to go full race. And today, this Skylark's prestigious appearance is a lust worthy representation of one of America's most glorious eras of motoring. ENGINE Lift the car's 'alligator hood' and you'll find a 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 that props a correct Roadmaster assembly stamp in front of a correct 1165165 casting number. Nicknamed the "Nail valve", and eventually known as the "Nailhead", this fully detailed mill employs greater lift and better duration to create a Kansas-flat power band. This certainly wasn't a popular decision at the time, but it definitely benefits the car today as more precise build techniques and better commonality make restoration and maintenance much easier. The basis for this drop-top's solidity is an industrial strength frame that's married to a correctly restored suspension. At the center of that suspension, a new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2-speed twists power to a factory rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, Dynaflow-mandated power drum brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Turns come courtesy of Dynaflow-mandated power steering. A single-pipe exhaust system makes good use of a factory replacement muffler. Everything rolls on familiar Kelsey-Hayes wires, which spin 7.60-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around "SKYLARK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted, red-tinged undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. INTERIOR Loaded with virtually every option in the book, this classic Buick's correct Matador Red interior features a perfect mix of outrageous style and traditional American luxury.
