Up for auction is a very nice and rare 1985 Trans Am. This was a special order car. The owner had the 5 speed transmission added along with the T-tops.The car was sitting in the garage for 20 years. It had boxes piled on it and they scratched the paint. The car looks good but some of the clear coat is coming off on the driver, rear side as seen in the photos. The oil and other fluids have been changed. I drove the car down town to get it detailed, motor, shampoo and color buff, etc. The car turns heads. I did not put new tires on the car, I'll leave that up to the new owner. The Trans Am shifts very smooth, the brakes work fine. The A/C works but I'm sure will need Freon. All electrical works fine. Lights work great, power windows work without any problems. I put new strut's in for the hood and back hatch. There are a few squeaks here and there that need to be worked out, from sitting. I think that all it needs is new tires, shock's/ struts, etc. And if I was to keep it, I get a new paint job. There is one small tear on the top corner of the driver's seat as seen in the photo. The drivers door hing drops a bit and the back of the door rubs on closure. See photo. Door's close fine and no rattles with the doors, etc. I drove it 50 miles and it drove very well. Radio and speakers work as well. It's hard to find a 5 speed in this condition. The car was owned by a very good man who ended up sick. I bought the car from the family to keep, but I'd rather have a 1977 to 1981 style car. I'm in the Pontiac POCI/ GMC club. The only real damage is the right front lower valance. I found one on e-Bay, but lost the bid. It sold for $80. If you have any questions, please ask... I will bring the car up to I-10, to the town of Benson, AZ, which will lower the cost in shipping. If the car is bought by someone in Tucson or the Phoenix area, I will deliver the car for the cost of gas. Around 200 miles to Phoenix. Also, in the photo, the driver door looks like it doesn't close. The door is ajar, not closed all the way. The door does close tight. There is also a piece of trim missing on the door, as seen in the photo's. The T-Tops lock but there is no key :o(. The drivers side is unlocked. The passenger side is locked. It needs to be unlocked. This is the only Trans Am that I've had with locking T-Tops. I've had 6 Trans Am's all the other's didn't have locking T-Tops... The first owner, passed on, so the daughter put the car in her name in order to sell it to me. I had to put the car in my name in order to have key's made for the car. I had the car in my garage, and some how the key's got lost and I had to have more made.It's a law in Arizona to have the car and title in your name, so they know the car wasn't stolen. I'm still looking for the original key's... :o( jim

1985 Pontiac Trans Am Pro Street Project, been backhalved with ford 9" rear.. Has 35 spline axles. No center section and tin work needs to be done.. About the car it's been a 1 owner car still have original title from 1986.. Car also has original 18119 miles on it.. Car was a original 5 speed car.. Under the hood still looks like new also.. Car does have a few dings in it here and there and hood has a dent.. It's a project that wouldn't take much to have a bad ass.. Pro Street or straight out Drag car.. Still have factory dash and wore harness.. Only reason for selling and not finishing is I lost my storage and have 7 car I need to find homes for.. I'm setting a buy it now with offers.. This was a special order only car of less than 300 Trans Am`s. This car runs and drives and looks great! This car has been restored Paint being the oldest thing on it now its not perfect but nice paint. Also has brand new racing wheels and new Hancook tires as the back tires are 12" wide makes the car look even more amazing..NEW flow master exhaust sounds great new 650 edlebrok carb with new aluminum edlebrok intake as well the A/C has been serviced and changed to the new system. New brakes, lines and calipers. All of this being new all with less than 300 miles on the new drive train motor is fully broken in and adjusted out the ac blows cold and the heater blows hot. the top has been replaced the interior has been spiced up a bit very nice! Power windows, locks and mirror. The top has been redone and the interior has been redone and spiced up it is amazing! This car runs great and is such a fun car to drive it is a major head turner and i bet your neighbor dont have one of these! Below is a better understanding of what these cars are all about and why and how these cars came into play. Auto Forms was a company based out of Elkhart. Indiana that performed convertible conversions on Firebirds. It is believed the conversions began in 1983 and were performed through early 1986 with just over 300 converted total for all 4 years. We have recently discovered that Autoform was sanctioned by GM and as such did conversions on both Firebirds and Camaros. The conversions were performed at two different facilities: one in Elkhart. Indiana and the other in Shawnee. Oklahoma. The conversion took about two weeks and cost an estimated $5500. Auto Forms worked directly with participating Pontiac dealers and did not accept customers off the street. New cars were drop shipped to one of the facilities and then delivered to the dealer for delivery to the customer. Year by year production is also not known but its believed that about 300 total cars were built between 1983 and 1986 including both Firebirds and Camaros and Trans Ams. The conversion used an extended rear decklid that extended through the rear seating area to the front seats. The decklid was formed with two bullet shaped bulges that sat immediately behind each seat that provided both support for the head rest but also served to enhance the euro style race car look. The decklid was comprised of a 2-layer fiberglass laminate and opened up and back from the front so the top could be retracted for stowage. The rear portion of the decklid functioned as a trunk lid swinging open an external chromed hinges support by the struts re-used from the original glass hatch. The design maintained the size and space of the original trunk. The top itself was an unusual design. The base piece was also a 2-layer fiberglass laminate which was less prone to warping than other single layer designs of the time. The hardtop roof was reinforced with heavy gauge steel brackets for extra support. For visual appeal the outer portion of the roof was covered with a convertible top material. Using a but of ingenuity the Autoform engineers used the upholstery from the removed back seat to create a headliner for the top. The rear window in the top was plastic. Interestingly. and unlike most convertible systems we are all familiar with. this design incorporated no automatic mechanism for raising and lowering the top. Its all done by hand. The hardtop swings up and down on a spring loaded steel arm that is part of a steel reinforcement cage that's installed vertically in the car behind the seats. The cage provided the necessary rigidity for the rest of the car that was lost when the top was removed. The cage welds into the vehicle at the door pillars and floor pan and is covered by a neat fiberglass cap. To further improve structural integrity sub-frame connectors were welded in and an X-member was added that bolted to the lift pads under the car. Bolting. rather than welding. it in allowed for transmission or exhaust work to be performed. After being lowered the top was stowed down inside a plastic tub installed in the rear seat area. The tub included access holes so you could get to the rear shocks. The upper body also received some visual accents to improve the overall cosmetic value of the package. The top of the windshield received a chrome plated steel reinforcement header attached with countersunk torx head screws. A fiberglass finishing rail was attached at the door pillars running back to the rear end of the fender and attached to the inside of the body with hidden screws. For weatherproofing internal drains were built into the rear deck/trunk cover system to channel water out the back end of the car. Factory weatherstripping was retained wherever possible. 80's icon is looking for a caring home! Honestly, I really love this car - it's my EIGHTH Trans Am since 1996. I've enjoyed numerous road trips: Route 66 and twice across the country from Michigan to Southern California and back. I took it too countless classic car shows and enjoyed compliments and thumbs up wherever this car appears. But it's like Huey Lewis sang in the 80's "I want a new drug", it felt it was time to get a new baby and to say Goodbye to my Trans Am. Boys don't grow up - their toys just getting bigger, right? This impeccably cared for, antiseptically clean Trans Am is ready for it's next set of enthusiasts hands to appreciated this rare, mint 80's muscle. Don't keep it hidden in the garage - it was born to hug the road! This Trans Am was assembled on Sept. 29th, 1984 as an early '85 model at the GM Norwood plant in Ohio. Before I bought this Michigan car with less than 31.000 miles, it had been stored by the first owner for more than 15 of it's 23 years in a garage, not running and never saw winter in it's entire life. The second owner just flipped it, the third owner bought this Firebird as a hobby car and only drove it to classic car shows. Because of that, it took a complete technical overhauling to turn back this well kept trailer queen into a flashy 80's Muscle machine: - Brake system new (incl. ER brake cable, wheel brake cylinders, lines now stainless steel) - Alternator new- Starter motor new - Water pump new - Head revised/refined (new GM performance intake/outlet valves, new vacuum line system, head gasket replaced, Rochester QuadraJet carburetor overhauled) - New rear sway bars - Headliner replaced - Transmission mount replaced - Headlights upgraded with stronger H4 conversion kit - Front side markers now clear - All lift supports (hood/hatch) replaced Majority of paint is original, however a few areas showed common factory paint defects (a result of GM's infamous mid-80's quality) that were professionally refinished. The body is clean, no rust, no cracks or fade in the plastic trim. The Concorde inspired dash is in perfect, unwarped shape! For a car almost 31 years old, it looks awesome. More than awesome actually - you don't see this quality level of a car anywhere but in a museum. With the assembly line not quite ready yet for the big '85 model year changes (GM just threw cars together with what was available to keep the assembly line running), the Trans Am ended up being built with a wild mix of two different model years: The restyled '85 body (front fascia, aero skirting, dams, vents, smoked taillights) and dashboard (gauges with new grid pattern design) but with an '84 vinyl interior, WS6 suspension but without rear disc brakes and an L69 "H.O." V8 instead the LG4 engine. The production codes don't match any of the GM records for '84 or '85. This Trans Am is truly unique - you won't find a second one made in this configuration by factory. There is even a handwritten production line note on the inner fender well - of the exact time/date of manufacture - all perfectly preserved. The L69 V8 (4 BBL QuadraJet carburetor, 190 hp with Regular, 210 with Premium gas) is attached to a Turbo-Hydramatic 700 R4 four speed automatic and was totally overhauled in 2014 (no leaks, no smoke). The transmission shifts smooth, the A/C blows ice-cold, everything works including the power antenna and the original concealed headlight motors. The weather stripping and all rubber seals are in good condition, the interior is spotless (non smoker car) with no cracks/tears in the seats, the dash cover has no cracks, the carpet is clean and intact (no holes, no wear through). The original Delco radio still works, the car comes with the rare glass T-Tops and storage bag, even the original floor mats are there. The 235/60-15 Cooper Cobras are in good condition, the 15x7" Diamond Spoke Cross lace wheels are clean and have no scratches. Everything is well documented from the first owner to the present day, the title is clean, the car has never had an accident. Even for current standards, this Trans Am is a still quite a fast car, but also a very comfortable Grand Touring Coupe (I crossed the US twice with this car and enjoyed every mile). I guarantee you'll enjoy the countless compliments (and you'll get a lot, this car is a head-turner and jaw dropper!). No repairs expected, it's 31 yeas old - all you need to do is to turn the key and drive into YOUR 80's paradise. Between 1982 and 1993, Pontiac assembled 313,003 third generation Trans Ams, fewer than 34.000 survive - this is the right time to grab one of the last iconic 80's Trans Am that is already a very rare sight on the streets.
