I have a classic 1979 Trans Am for sale. It is Nocturne Blue with Gold decals package and the interior is Camel color.Pros:-Gold decal package-Vinyl seats and doors instead of fabric-T- Tops (with T- Top covers)- Electric choke-Headers-New interior- Magniflow exhaust-posi traction-rear swaybar-54k original miles- No leaks- turn key start- new aluminum radiator- Largest engine option available-Transmission shifts well- all fluids changed recently-garage kept-west coast carCons-Air conditioning is not working. This awesome \'78 T/A is optioned with the W72 Performance Package and the WS6 Handling package and this option combination quickly established the 1978 Trans Am as the \"King of the Hill\". The W72 Performance Package was an engine option on the base 6.6 Liter 400 CID engine that provided an additional 20 horsepower over the stock engine and was labeled as the \"T/A 6.6\". Pontiac achieved this additional horsepower by beefing up the 4-barrel carburetor, adding a cam with 20 more degrees of duration, a new low restriction dual resonator exhaust system, and adding an air cleaner with a larger snorkel. Just so that everyone knew you had a T/A 6.6, the callouts were affixed to the shaker and chrome valve covers. This car is also optioned with the WS6 Handling Package that consists of stiffer rear springs, larger rear stabilizer bar with polyurethane link bushings, tighter shocks, a new steering gearbox with a 14:1 ratio, and 225/70R15 steel belted Goodyear Radials wrapped around a set of 15x8 inch wide snowflake wheels. This 1978 Pontiac Trans Am is powered by its original 6.6L 400 CID V8 engine , backed by a 4-speed manual transmission, running to a Posi Traction rear end with 3.42 gears with only 13,909 actual miles! The Firebird was introduced the same year as the automaker's platform-sharing model, the Chevrolet Camaro. This coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang.   1979 version of the Firebird     The front end was restyled in 1979. It also marked the 10th Anniversary of the Trans Am, and a special anniversary package was made available: silver paint with gray upper paint accents and a silver leather interior. The 10th Anniversary cars also featured a special Firebird hood decal, which extended off of the hood and onto the front fenders. Pontiac produced 7,500 10th Anniversary cars, of which 1,817 were equipped with the Pontiac 400 engine (and coupled with the four-speed Borg Warner Super T-10 transmission). The only option on these cars was the engine (the 400 was not certified for California, nor was cruise control available with it), which dictated the transmission and the gear ratio (3.23 on the 400 cars, 2.73 on the 403 cars). In 1979 Pontiac sold 116,535 Trans Ams, the highest sold in a year.   Up until the 1979 models, the performance of 400-equipped Firebirds could still be brought up to near pre-1970 levels by removing the catalytic converter and opening up the block off plate to make the hood scoop functional. Static compression ratios dropped in the early 70s which crippled horsepower and torque output.   This 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am has a 4.9-liter 302 engine. Assembled at GM’s Van Nuys, California manufacturing facility in April of 1979, this all-original 10th Anniversary Edition Trans Am was originally delivered to Schappe Pontiac in Madison, Wisconsin. The care of this car over the years is easy to assume when you see it in person. The paint looks excellent overall, and the underside is VERY solid and original. This Trans Am is finished in original combination of correct GM code 15 Platinum Poly and GM code 16 Dark Charcoal, topped with a set of correct black and red outlining stripes, and finished with the world famous five color ‘super bird’ hood decal. Pop the hood and you’ll find an ultra-clean and mostly original engine bay which houses the original 400 cubic inch W72 V8. Behind that motor, a W72-exclusive Borg Warner T10 aluminum 4-speed sends power to the car’s original 10 bolt rear end and optional WS6 ‘special performance’ suspension package. And at the corners of that suspension are the classic 15 inch turbo style wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich rubber. The time has come to put my 2000 Trans Am up for sale. I would love to keep the car, but after purchasing a townhome last year I don't have the room for it. The car is in excellent condition and has been very well maintained all its life. The car is a 2000 Firebird Trans Am, optioned with the 5.7L LS1 V8 and an automatic 4L60E transmission. The car has the removable T-Top that gives you the feel of a convertible with the looks of a hardtop. The car is Pewter in colour and has the desirable Ebony leather interior that is in good condition. Drivetrain: The LS1 pulls hard. The car has a couple of light modifications and puts out about 375hp and 375lb ft of torque. The car has long tube headers hooked up to a Magnaflow stainless catback exhaust. This gives the car a very aggressive muscle car tone. It sounds excellent under heavy throttle, but still relatively tame while cruising. I added a brand new K&N filter last year, and changed the spark plugs. The automatic transmission shifts well, as it should. Exterior: As for exterior modifications, the car has a few slight changes. Most notable is the WS6 hood that I installed. It is a high-quality fiberglass WS6 hood with Firehawk vents that I had professionally painted. The fitment is as good as factory and the paint is a flawless match to the rest of the car. The rear valance has been painted in a semi-gloss black similar to the 2002 CETA cars, and is finished off with a pair of the large polished Magnaflow exhaust tips. The exterior is overall in excellent shape. The car had a $500 paint correction done this and the paint looks excellent. There are no swirl marks at all – the car does not show its age at all. There are a few medium-sized marks in the paint, and a little clear coat peeling on the front bumper. The car has a few small scuffs as you would expect. The car does not have any significant dings. Wheels & Tires: The car comes with a set of Corvette Z06 wheels with machined lips and gloss black centres. The front wheels are 17”x9.5” and the rear wheels are 18”x10.5”. The wheels are straight and true, and are in o.k. condition. The faces are in good condition, but some of the wheels have some curb rash, and one has a bit of paint beginning to peel. The wheels are wrapped 275/40/17 Nitto 555 tires up front, while the back are large 285/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The front tires have good tread depth and the back will pass a safety test, but will need to be replaced eventually. Interior: The interior is in average shape. The car has the “Ebony” interior that includes spotless black carpets and black leather 6-way adjustable power driver and passenger seats. The seats are in good condition, although the the driver's seat is starting to wear on the bolster and in the seat area. The dash board is cracked, and the passenger door panel does have a small crack - typical on any 1993+ Firebird. All the gauges, electronics, radio, power antenna, seats etc. function as they should with the passenger window being a tad slow, as most Firebirds are. The windows have been tinted, and they are quite dark. It gives the car a nice look from the exterior, but doesn’t cause any visibility issues. The driver’s side window does have a scratch in the tint. The car also comes with a set of embroidered Trans Am floor mats in the front. General Remarks: All the items on the car work as they should: the A/C is cold, the heat is warm, the headlights go up & down perfectly, the doors lock & unlock, it shifts well, pulls hard, and sounds great. There are some small marks in the paint, but the car does not show its age. Overall this is a very clean, powerful, and tastefully and lightly modified LS1 Trans Am. It comes with the good looks of a WS6 car with the Ram Air hood, and an aggressive set of Corvette wheels instead of the boring stock 16” ones.
