It was available as a sedan, coupe, convertible, and a station wagon throughout its history, though the sedan was the most prominent option. With front-wheel drive standard and the option of four-wheel drive in its Quattro trim, the Audi wasn't an extremely powerful car, but it did have options, a distinctive look, and luxury interior features that appealed to the U.S. market. The 1993 version of the Audi 90 was assembled in Germany and Japan and featured a 2.8-liter 172 horsepower V6 engine, available with either a four-speed automatic transmission or a five-speed manual. Fuel economy was decent for the time at about 18/26 mpg for the automatic. The car was a bit cramped, and although it could seat five, this was easier said than done. The Audi 90's main points of differentiation in comparison to the Audi 80 were a slightly stronger engine and more updated features. The Audi 90 was launched as an improved version of the Audi 80 in 1984. While the Audi 80 was still available, buyers who chose the 90 would enjoy a different front grille, refined exterior features, and a more powerful engine. The difference between the 80 and the 90 became more notable in 1984. Eventually, the Audi 90 became the dominant brand and the 80 name was discontinued in North America. The Audi 90 name was discontinued in 1992 in North America, and the Audi A4 took over for the 90 as the prominent mid-size luxury sedan in Audi's lineup. Three trim levels were available for later versions of the Audi 90, including a standard trim, an upgraded CS that featured a better interior and more electronic features, and the CS Quattro Sport. This last trim was the four-wheel drive version of the Audi 90, popular in certain climates, although the 170 horsepower engine meant that Audi buyers generally weren't interested in a ton of power or towing, so other trim options were more successful. Options like leather seats and a power sunroof made the Audi a popular car, even through the early 1990s, and it was lauded as a dependable and relatively safe vehicle thanks to late introduction of standard passenger airbags. While the Audi 90 was a notable step into the American market, the 80 provided adequate features and handily outsold it. 1990 Audi Quattro Coupe 20V 2.3L Chipped, Schrick Cams, Hella H1/H1 Lights, & MORE! Description This is my baby. Time for us to part ways. I'd like to find a good home for her. One where the owner will make sure that she is finally finished. She runs nicely, and she was my daily driver until 2010, when unfortunately I slightly rear-ended my neighbor. It was a good excuse to find a B4 hood, Euro S2 Bumper, and hard to find Hella H1/H1 Ellipsoid main beams and harness. The condition of the car is as follows, including mods: The car runs and has been modified. The endine was completely torn down and rebuilt from the crankshaft up. It has an S4 windage tray in the oil pan, and all the rings were replaced. It has high flow injectors from 034 Motorsport. A heatshield has been fabricated and protects the K&N cold air intake from engine heat. The oil pan, intake manifold, and other accessory parts have been powder coated in black. All seals, rubber parts, and anything else I could replace I did. The spark plug wires are high capacitance wires from Nology. One issue that I've not been able to correct is the idle. Once warm it idles fine, but the Idle Stabilizer Valve needs to be replaced. Good luck finding a good replacement. It has an aluminium radiator from 2Bennett Audimotive. The head was overhauled by 2Bennett and schrick cams were installed. The ECU was chipped by Total Audi Performance back when they were still around. I'll send along the original one with the car. I've installed a B4 Hood that needs some work still, and there is a euro S2 bumper on the car at this time. The Hella H1/H1 Ellipsoid main beams and wiring harness need to be installed. In the photos you see one of the headlights installed, but that was just for the photos. Also needing to be installed are the brand new fog lights and signals from Hella. The engine was rebuilt in 2007 and I have put 482 hours on the engine. There are additional VDO style gauges installed, cylinder head temperature, engine hours, & exhaust temperature. It has a high-flow stainless steel exhaust installed with the DTM style tips. Its a bit loud, but the engine sure breathes better. The car comes with the original 15" wheels and some tires with pretty good tread left on them. In addition it comes with the 17" wheels and Falken Zeik 215/45 ZR17 tires shown in the photos. The front tires are getting worn due to the camber being off, but the rear wheels are still in pretty good shape. Most of you reading this know the rich history of the Audi Coupe 20V in the USA. underpowered, but still a lot of fun. I've done about as much as you can to it without putting a turbo on it. I'm selling this because its just time to move on. I love this car and have put my heart and soul into it. The interior needs some love. I just don't have the time to finish this up and put her back on the road consistently. This is an early edition of this wonderful machine. She was born in 1989 and was #362 off the line. Over the course of the second owner’s four year tenure, he accrued a mere 1,000 miles of additional use and had Scottsdale Porsche replace the all-important timing belt and perform the preemptive 15k mile service, amongst a litany of other associated dealer-performed services. color.Porsche gave the 944 a significant boost in 1989 with the introduction of the S2, which boasted a 3.0L 16 valve motor which increased hp and torque across the board. The S2 also came with the smoother bodywork from the 944 Turbo, as well as its larger brakes. The Cabriolet was only offered for 1990 and 1991, before they switched over to the 968. Only 2402 944 S2 Cabriolets came to the USA during the two-year production run.This one is quite likely the nicest one you will find available. It has been owned and serviced locally, and is a well-known car by the local Porsche techs and aficionados. It was shown at many different PCA events, and the owners who cared for it really loved it, and of course stored the car in the winters.It's in completely stock, unmodified condition with the exception of the roll bar shown in the photos.
