This may be one of the unique and rarest cars listed on CL. 1992 Mercedes Benz 300CE finished in Metallic Silver over custom replica Louis Vitton Two-Tone Suede Interior including Carbon Fiber on all trims. I bought this car from used car dealer friend of mine back in 2007 with only 121,000 miles. I've only put on additional 9,000+ miles in the last 7 years as I have too many vehicles. Vehicle has complete AMG Body Kit, has Bilstein shocks and struts with H&R lowering springs, smoked tail lights, full suede trunk interior, and K&N Air performance filter. We have for sale a 1990 Mercedes Benz 190E Evolution 2 - #146 of 500. Never originally available in the USA, this is precisely the first time that this rare automobile is being offered for sale completely legal for ownership and on-road use! This is an extremely rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic homologation specials ever produced by the masters at Mercedes Benz. A true thoroughbred, the 190E Evo 2 swept the 1992 German Touring Car Championship and was the epitome of engineering and speed at the time. It is widely considered the first Supercar to have been born a sedan! With Aerodynamics designed and tested by German Scientist and an Engine further tweaked by Cosworth, the Evo 2 was the culmination of Mercedes Benz expertise for the purpose of motorsports domination. Produced May 30, 1990, this vehicle was procured and imported at exactly 25 Years of age - Box 1 Designation on the HS-7 Import Declaration (Import Declaration Form is presented below). Also because EBAY does not recognize this exotic vehicles VIN # - the listing was created with a year of 1980. Introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1990, the 190E Evo 2 was created to satisfy DTM sanctions requiring a production version of all competing race vehicles. Over the years Mercedes Benz had gathered a vast amount of data on their touring race cars and had pushed development beyond the capacities of the standard vehicle. The popularity of touring cars was at an all time high and the DTM racing program was realizing world wide success reminiscent of Group B Rallying days. In order to further increase performance, drastic changes needed to be made to all aspects of the vehicle - and these changes would have to appear on the production version. The motorsports division, now known as AMG, was given unlimited resources in order to build a champion race car. The result was extensive modifications of Chassis, Aerodynamics and Engine Power that was aimed strictly at competition victory. Wind Tunnel testing helped to create the impressive aerodynamics package that would alter nearly every body panel of the vehicle! With a focus on function, this car looks brutally honest as its intentions are quite visible: downforce and stability. The Engine, previously developed by Mercedes Benz, was modified additionally by the experts at Cosworth to create more power as well as retain reliability. Unheard of at the time, this 2.5L 4 Cylinder created 235HP with a sound and rush that was unique and intoxicating. In race trim, the 2.5L would develop nearly 400HP. A close ratio 5 speed transmission was developed with a revised shift pattern keeping the most used gears inline. Another motorsports derived part, this unique 5 speed transmission was known as the dogleg gearbox. The ride height of the race vehicle was extremely low and for the production car to maintain useability Mercedes employed a height adjustable hydraulic suspension system that would allow the car to traverse the back roads just as easily as it did the race track. Creature comforts were offered as options all the while these vehicles were the most expensive offering from Benz at the time. For those of you who know this body, internally known as the W124 by Mercedes, you can rest assured this is a well-built, solid vehicle. The 400E/E420 is the sleeper version of this body and only have a few less horsepower than the famous 500e. Although not a collector’s model, this car is exceptionally fast, handles great, and looks very professional (not dated whatsoever IMO). Most W124’s sold nowadays are nowhere near the condition this car is in, furthermore the majority are the underpowered 300e or e320 models and almost always have issues with the air conditioning—which I can assure you will cost you nearly $1400-1600 to fix properly. Please keep this in mind when considering the price of this car and others listed online. Reason for selling? Looking to get a 95-99 W140 J…If you want to have the car for less, I can take off AMG wheels and new tires for a deduction of $700 and leave on the original 15” inch OEM wheels. The all new, W126 S-Class debuted at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in September of 1979 offering 7 variations in either short wheelbase or long wheelbase. In 1981 Wheels Magazine crowned the W126 S-Class their car of the year for its innovations in technology and safety. For the 1985 Frankfurt Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz debuted a completely improved W126 line with two new 6-cylinder engine, and two new 8-clyinder engines. The W126 was replaced in 1991 by all new W140 S-Class sedan, and many purists say the W126 was the best and last of the S-Class Mercedes. 1991 marked the 50th anniversary of the legendary Joe Dimaggio’s, “The Yankee Clipper” 56 batting streak. The Hall of Famer was present at an Old Timers Day event on July 27th 1991 at the New York Yankee stadium. After his speech, he was presented with a brand new 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL Sedan by the New York Yankee team. They painted the Yankee logo on the back trunk for him to commemorate his success. The car is presented here with a Letter of Provenance signed by Joe Dimaggio’s two granddaughters, photographs of the Old Timers Day ceremony with him and the car, the Mercedes-Benz books with Joe’s name for the ownership and warranty and the catalog where the car was sold by the estate at auction in May of 2006. European Motor Studio is very proud to offer this exceptional Arctic White over Dove Grey 1991 Mercedes-Benz 420SEL Sedan. This 420SEL left the Mercedes-Benz production line in January of 1991 making this one of the very last W126 S-Class sedans off the production line before production was closed down. Presented to Hall of Famer Joe Dimaggio on July 27th 1991 by the New York Yankees team the car was sent back to Dimaggio’s home in Miami Beach Florida where the he lived until his death in 1999. The car remained in the Dimaggio estate until May of 2006 when Dimaggio’s personal items were auctioned off. The car sold to its second owner and private collector and moved to southern California. The car stayed in the 2nd owners care until European Motor Studio acquired the car and brought it to AZ. Having only traveled 65,300 miles from brand new, this car comes complete with all of its original books, owners manuals, warranty books, dealer books, service and warranty books, Mercedes-Benz tool kit, jack and spare as well as two keys. Documentation and letter of provenance go with the car verifying it is in fact Joe Dimaggio’s car. The car is in exceptional condition showing very little wear over the years. The paint on the car is in beautiful shape, still retains a deep luster and free from any fade or oxidation (small hairline scrape in the front lower bumper and two hairline scrapes in the back bumper). The body is extremely straight, minus one small ding in the passenger front fender, and completely free from any rust or corrosion. The interior of the car is near showroom condition. The leather looks stunning and shows almost no wear of any kind. All of the carpets and original Mercedes-Benz floor mats look excellent and free from any tears or stains and the headliner looks perfect free from any damage or stains. All of the chrome, switchgear and plastics looks exceptional and free from wear or damage. The beautiful original wood looks excellent with a few small hairline cracks on the lower console surrounding the window switches. All of the electrical equipment is in working order except the sunroof (you can hear the motor working but the roof does not slide back). All of the windows, door locks, mirror, seats, steering wheel, power antenna, AC/heater and radio are all in working order. All of the interior and exterior lights are in proper working order as well as the reverse lights and turn signal lights. Mechanically the car is outstanding; it stars right up and idles beautifully. It shifts into gear without any clunking or grinding and shifts effortlessly. The engine does not smoke or leak and it accelerates very smoothly. The brakes feel solid and do not show any signs of fade or pulsating. The steering is very solid and tight as well as the suspension which are all free from any rattling or thumping. This Mercedes has a newer battery, 80% tread life left on the tires, about 50-60% brake life left and has just been completely serviced. The W126 Mercedes-Benz sedan is one of the best and most successful S-Class sedans Mercedes-Benz has ever produced and some say the last of traditional S-Classes. This 420SEL is one of the very last W126 to come off the production before the 1992 model year W140 S-Class took its place. These are increasingly hard to find in such exceptional condition with such low mileage, and a true collector item with its celebrity provenance that cannot be duplicated.
