I purchased this car a few months back on Ebay to be used as a daily driver for my business in and around Washington, DC. Well, short story is the seller left out some details which do not make this a car I want to stick with. The good – Runs well, changed the alternator (Kept pulley from the an old one and changed belt, no more breaking belt), New tires, under 300 miles on them. Top is new, installed improperly though by seller. Lights flip up properly. I will include the shop manual and cup holder purchased along with updating wire harness to use with newer radios. The bad – Since top wasn’t put on correctly, top leaks in pouring rain. Estimate I got, if it can be corrected was $350-$400, or, $700 to install new. A/C not working, have not looked into issue. Seats have gotten wet. Small dent in front end, passenger side at bumper. Airbag light flashes 5 times, can’t find what the code is, but the vehicle has passed Maryland inspection & emissions in August 2015. I bought another sending unit, not installed. I’m in to the car for $2900 and with the extras I need, it isn’t worth it for me to go any further. I can part it out and make more, just not worth the effort. My loss is your gain. This auction is for 2 Mercury Capri Convertibles…1991 & 1993. Both with 1.6 engines and automatic transmissions. Parts are 100% interchangeable. The 1991 has 116,113 miles with the timing belt and water pump changed at 107,000 miles. It is very clean and mostly rust free. It has a set of 4 new tires (1000 miles), new a/c compressor with full charge, and a fairly new battery. The exhaust is in good condition. Very solid car but the windshield is cracked, the carpet and convertible top frame are missing but good on the other car. This is the car I would restore. The 1993 is the parts car. The passenger door and trunk lid are damaged but rust free. The bra is in good shape, the windshield is perfect and the convertible top frame is excellent although the top is pretty rough (not usable). Everything works on this car but it runs for a few minutes then shuts off. It is able to be restarted in 15 minutes. Auction includes a new convertible top that needs to be installed, a black hard top with all electrical connections, and a car cover. I may consider parting out these cars if the price is right.
