1967 BUICK RIVIERA #'s matching 430ci 4bbl with Star Wars Air Cleaner. Rare Bucket Seats with Console Shift & Side Marker Lamps! Very good running & driving car! Solid car that was once repainted in the late '80's. I purchased this car in Maine in August of 2013 with every intention of having it repainted & reupholstered. But certain circumstances have not allowed me to do so. To my disappointment, I've realized that I will not be able to get to it anytime in the near future. So instead of letting it sit. I've decided to let someone else have the pleasure of owning it. The Good: The 430 engine runs strong! It Does Not smoke or leak (other than minor valve cover seepage). The Trans shifts smoothly. It has newer mufflers. Floor Boards & Frame are rock solid. Trunk floor is solid. But does have some surface rust(see photo). The body is very solid with only minor areas of rust popping up. Even the paint (for it's age still looks) good. The Chrome Bumpers & Stainless moldings are all in very good condition. (left fender molding is in the trunk) All 4 power windows work. even the power antenna still works. Original Buick road wheels are in good condition. 4 center caps for the road wheels will be included (not pictured on the car). The Bad: I moved last year & lost my storage. So I had to let it sit outside last winter. That took it's toll on the original vinyl top(which was showing it's age before so). The left fender had been repaired sometime after the repaint & doesn't match perfectly. There is also an area where the filler chipped (see photos). There are areas of rust popping up around the body (see photos). The passenger 1/4 panel must have had a dent repaired prior to the repaint. You can see a crack line in the filler. The previous owner decided to cut the dash & rear shelf to install an updated sound system at some point. *But I did purchase a new cluster & lens asst.* It will be included in the sale if the new owner wants it. Along with some other items I purchased for it over the past 2 years. The power seat motor works. But the seat does not move. The previous owner installed a luggage rack on the deck lid. My plan was to remove it when having the car painted. All in all this is a great, rare car. You can purchase it to drive as is. Or you can restore it. My plan when I purchased it was to paint it black, reupholster the front seats & replace the current top with black vinyl top. But financial issues are forcing me to sell off my classic cars. The paint shows well and the bumpers were chromed and are show quality. Has the rear wing and hood tack. The vynil roof looks new (no bubbles under it) No bubbles on car body. Under is nice also. Up for sale or trade is my 1970 Buick GS clone. Car is originally a Skylark that has had the GS hood, grille and emblems put on. Car has a 442ci big block Buick engines, Muncie M20 4 speed transmission and 8.5 BOP 10 bolt rear with GM posi, 3.23 gears,and bolt in axles. The entire drivetrain has no more than 4500 miles since built. The block is a 68 430 block. It was bored .062 to use standard 454 Chevy rings. The pistons are custom Diamond forged pieces($1000.00). It has had the main oil suction, and main oil pressure line from the pump drilled as Buick engines should have done. TA full groove cam bearings. Oil pump set up correctly. (great oil pressure) Stock crank turned 10/10. Stock rods with ARP bolts and resized. Bottom end balanced. TA 290-08H cam. TA SP1 intake. 68 430 big port heads. RobbMc 550 horse mechanical fuel pump. ATI super damper, 850 Holley DP with no choke. Older Poston long tube headers. Pypes stainless 3in exhaust with X pipe. Steel flywheel, Centerforce dual friction clutch. All ARP hardware there. Hurst Super street shifter. Muncie M20. Fresh rebuilt with some upgraded parts. 8.5 BOP 10 bolt with bolt in axles. GM posi with 3.23 gears. All fresh. This entire drivetrain has maybe 4500 miles on it. Car was just dynoed at 342 horse, and 412 ft pds torque at the wheels. Rechrome bumpers front and rear. New Weld Prostar wheels and tires. New Procar bucket seats and aftermarket center console. New carpet. Does have a crack in the dash pad. Car does not have power steering or power brakes. Its a big cammed car, and it is a bit temperamental, but it is fast, loud and fun. Gets plenty of looks going down the road. I do believe there is some filler in the quarters.I cant say how much, because I didnt do the work. The body and paint as you see are how it was when I bought it. I changed basically everything else. There is rust in the trunk that will need to be dealt with at some point. The color is Bamboo Cream which is an actual GM color. The roof I believe is original. Its not in real bad shape, but is pulled up some around the back window. A replacement would make it look much better. I replaced a few area of floors when I went through it. Used actual repro pans, not sheet metal, and fully welded as they should be. The entire underneath of the car was then blasted and painted with POR15. Frame is very nice. No bad spots, and nothing even close to being bad. Boxed rear lower control arms, and no hop bars in the rear. New suspension bushings throughout. Kyb shocks all around. You are viewing a very rare 1972 Buick Riviera GS with a Stage 1 455 cubic inch V8 (confirmed in person by a National Riviera judge). I will be adding more photographs and information (I have all receipts dating back to March of 1976) in the next few days. I will also tell the full story of how I acquired this beautiful car, simply because it is one of the funniest and at points most unbelievable tales of automotive coincidence and good fortune I've ever heard, let alone been part of. Its a story I will be telling for years to come, and you'll understand why when you've heard it. So please check back in. I decided to post my car in this gradual way because I've had many, many people show interest in the car due to its condition, rarity and documentation, but I haven't had a chance yet to take all the photographs or to properly put down on paper the full story of how she became mine. I have a few other cars for sale at the moment and in each listing I mention that I still have several other cars to sell. A number of members have asked about the cars I haven't yet listed, and of all of them my Riviera is the one they all want to see. So I've decided to list it sooner than expected. Capricious New York weather has not cooperated for getting the car out of the garage, but the next several days look promising enough that I should be able to provide a nice look at the interior, engine and trunk by Friday or Saturday, October 31st/November 1st. I have owned and collected classic cars for the last 26 years, beginning with the 1969 Dodge Charger I bought when I was sixteen, and which I still own today. I still own my 2nd car as well, a 1983 Pontiac Trans Am, which I drove from my senior year in high school through to my second year of graduate school in the department of English at the University of Central Florida in Winter Park, FL. So my passion for classic cars -- and especially Mopars -- has been a lifelong pursuit and is about the most fun I can imagine having. I am an Oxford-educated motorhead that's been car crazy since bell bottoms were in style the first time around. And because I love to find, own, drive and collect all kinds of classic cars, there comes a point when I have to sell a few of them to keep my collection manageable, or else they all don't get exercised like they should. This is one of those times. My collection has expanded to about two dozen cars, when really, if I am totally honest with myself, I should get it down to about twelve so that I have the time to drive and enjoy them all. I am a firm believer that cars should and need to be driven. And when I can't drive them all enough, I go through the painful process of letting a few of them go on to new owners that will hopefully get out there and drive them more than I have time to. This is the reason I am proudly offering my 1972 Buick Riviera GS for sale to its next proud owner. Both the engine and transmission have been rebuilt during its lifetime and both function flawlessly. It is an extremely strong-running and powerful car, with the GS upgrades giving an extra punch to that big 455 V8. We are selling a rare 1967 Buick real GS convertible. Only around 2200 of these built in 1967. How many could be left? This one needs full restoration. The numbers matching motor was rebuilt in 2007 and we have had it running and sounds great with no noise or smoking. The body is not bad. I don't think you would need quarters, just lower quarters. The top is electric and works with some help. There is no gas tank and no battery. You will have to flat bed or tow this. Needs interior and new top. engine compartment has been detailed. Star wars air cleaner is there and has been restored. I was told by last owner that transmission was fine, but I have never tried to move the car. The big thing is frame, floors and trunk floor need replaced. These frames are out there. I have located a man that has 2 and they have been sand blasted and power coated. He is asking $1700 each. We bought it to restore, but we have been so busy we can not get to it. We have other projects and customers cars we are restoring. The convertible boot in the pictures does not go with the car it is from a different convertible and would not fit anyway. It was just for looks when taking pictures. I have decided to place the Gran Sport up for sale. I really enjoy 4-Speed cars and one that I had looked at prior to purchasing the Gran Sport has resurfaced on the market. I have placed an ad on Ebay Motors and the following is the basic information from the Ebay ad. I am the fourth owner of the Gran Sport and this is the history per the last owner. The first owner purchased the car in Canada and had the car for many years. I have receipts for maintenance by the original owner showing mileage into the 70,000 + mile range. The car was sold to the second owner, a Fireman in New Jersey, who also kept the car for 8 or 9 years and sold the car due to poor health. The third owner was also a Fireman and a friend of the previous owner. He retired and brought the car to Florida and also developed health issues which prevented him from maintaining the car to his standard and sold the car to me. All matching numbers. This is a rare big block muscle car as only 7,602 Gran Sport 400's were manufactured in 1969. It is very difficult to find one or see one at a car show in this condition. Fewer still would ever dream of accenting that wet looking pigment with a pair of bright red pin stripes. But that's exactly what the original owner of this GS did; and today, thanks to hardly ever seeing sun, rain or street time, the car's mirror-like finish is a largely flaw-free celebration of lacquer laden originality. That said, the body' glossy panels are not devoid of all character like so many fresh frame-off restorations. Rather, they carry just the right amount of wear under a soft shine that simply cannot be duplicated with today's perfected basecoat/clearcoat paint process. Under that vintage single-stage paint, all original OEM sheetmetal shows no signs of botched repairs, accident damage or cancerous rust. And overall, this Buick is as close to factory perfect as a five decades removed classic can get. For 1967 the GS graduated from an options package to a full model line that featured small aesthetic tweaks and a lot more attitude. The result was a substantial looking car which managed to feel more upscale than its GM stable mates while retaining the same broad shouldered, all-American attitude. At the front of this Buick's long body, a broad chrome bumper hangs clear, square marker lights below a deep-set grille which centers a concave divider between red GS ornamentation and four silver-trimmed T3 headlights. At the top of the body, a canted "BUICK" script fronts a sculpted hood which flows to factory glass that's capped by chrome drip rails, bordered by well-maintained stainless trim and cleared by satin finished wiper arms. At the sides of the body, ribbed rocker trim combines with fresh stainless wheel well trim to parallel factory ventiports, original "GS400" quarter emblems, traditional chrome door handles and Buick branded mirrors. And at the back of this Buick, a second chrome bumper centers like-new reverse lamps below a black "GS400" branded rear valence, a second canted "BUICK" script and stylish, stainless-trimmed tail lights. Of special interest are the factory installed rocker panel moldings. Talk to many casual Buick GS "experts" and they will tell you these were not available in 1967. This only means they haven't actually seen them before-but these are originals and the car was delivered with them new! Since GM's 'doctors and lawyers' division decided to get serious about their performance image, they also upped the ante in the engine compartment by equipping their newly christened GS with a first rendition of their now legendary big block V8. Hoist this car's glossy black hood and you'll find 400 cubic inches of untouched, original Buick muscle that produces 340 horsepower, spins stout 10.25 to 1 compression into 440 lb./ft. of torque, and wears a correct 1381624 casting number above a 1967-exclusive NR assembly stamp. At the top of that sinister red block, a familiar Rochester Quadrajet carburetor mixes air from Buick's trademark 'Star Wars' air cleaner with dino juice that's supplied by original stainless fuel lines. At the sides of that carburetor, original semi-wedge heads hang "400-4" branded valve covers over deep breathing cast iron exhaust manifolds. In front of those manifolds, a traditional points distributor shoots fire through authentic Packard TV R Suppression wires. And in front of that distributor, a gloss black radiator circulates coolant through pliable original hoses and authentic tower clamps. In addition to its killer powerplant, this GS maintains a correctly detailed engine bay that's complete with a '67 model washer tank, a Delco Energizer battery and an original brake booster which still wears a "UA" branded assembly tag. Aesthetically, the car's satin black fenders perfectly complement both its bright red engine block and factory-equipped hood insulation. And mechanically this awesome Buick is in outstanding original condition, performing just as well now as when it rolled out of Blue Ridge Motors' Roanoke showroom. At the bottom of this stunning survivor a clean undercarriage tells a long story of excellent maintenance and carefully chosen road time. Naturally the GS hotter engine needed a better drivetrain to effectively establish street credibility, so Buick complemented the car's styling tweaks with a few mechanical adjustments and a number of strengthened components. At the center of the floors a rugged, and original, M20 Muncie 4-speed transmission hangs a correct 3885010 casting number and a Muncie (P) assembled on June (H) 19th (19) 1967 (7) build stamp in front of an original Posi-traction Salisbury rear end that's complete with oversize axle shafts. At the ends of that drivetrain an original heavy duty suspension, which includes thicker sway bars, better shocks, stiffer springs and the aforementioned trailer towing upgrade, combines with Buick's familiar power assisted aluminum drums up front and power-assisted steel drums out back to provide quick stops and great handling. And at the corners of that chassis, power flows to the pavement through original 14 inch Buick Sport wheels which spin original F70-14 Goodyear Custom Wide Tread Polyglas redlines around clean red, white and blue center caps. Speaking of floors the car's straight and solid pans, which are bolted to Buick's heavy duty convertible frame, still hang 99% of their satin black paint over satin black suspension components that still retain much of their factory shine. Spent gases flow through original factory pipes that still employ assembly line correct, GM stamped mufflers. And, based on a quick visual inspection, all the car's hardware and bushings appear to be in good, road-ready condition. Climb inside this timeless Buick muscle car and you'll find a completely original GM code 193 interior that is both comfortable and appealing. As the story goes, this unique color combination came about because the owner of the car wanted vinyl that matched his beloved fianc's blonde hair. Fortunately, even though their love for one another waivered and faded, this GS' interior has remained youthful and true. Covered in original Madrid Grain surfaces (Buick speak for high quality vinyl), the car's firm front bucket and rear bench seats are comfortable, solid and provide spacious seating for at least five. At the center of the cockpit, an optional stainless trimmed consolette props a Buick factory tachometer and an original black shifter above like-new black carpet, heavy duty rubber floor mats and optional Fisher lap belts. Above that consolette, a warp-free dash hangs bright silver trim between original gauges, an original AM/FM radio and a dealer installed stainless tissue dispenser.
