The GSX was reduced to an option package by 1972 and only on the big block cars, but that doesn't mean that the same look won't work on standard Skylarks. Vivid Saturn Yellow paint with distinctive black graphics make the biggest, baddest of the Buicks highly visible, and this car is like that snake that has colors similar to a copperhead, but isn't quite as deadly. Finish quality is actually quite good, particularly for the money, and the vivid paint covers every visible surface, so you know it was a trim-off respray. The black hood stripes and side graphics give this Skylark the image of a fast car and there's a proper spoiler on the deck lid, an integral part of the look. The chrome and stainless trim is still in good original condition, a nice indicator of a machine that has probably led and easy life someplace warm, and proper emblems were added as necessary. You could probably call the interior white or even parchment and nobody would argue, and it definitely looks fantastic in the bright yellow Buick. The seats themselves are in great shape with no notable tears or splits in the material and even with the light color it seems to be defying the years pretty darned well. Black carpets and a matching dashboard help keep it from getting too overwhelming inside and they, too, are in good order. The factory gauges cover the basics of speed and fuel level, but remember that this was 1972 and performance was a bad word. On the other hand, as a Buick, you got lots of creature comforts, including factory A/C, power steering and brakes, and more sound deadening materials throughout the body. That's a good thing, because there's a Sony Xplod AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo system with speakers stashed throughout the interior that sound fantastic. The trunk is beautifully finished with correct spatter paint and a full-sized spare with restored jack assembly. The standard Skylark engine was a 350 cubic inch V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor, and that's what lives under the hood today. Smooth, torquey, and surprisingly energetic, it makes great V8 sounds and moves the sleek coupe with a swell of easy-to-use torque that's a lot of fun on the street. Beautifully detailed with lots of chrome, Dante Red engine enamel, and plenty of evidence of recent work, is makes this GSX lookalike even more convincing. Backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end, the powertrain won't give you any hassles and it does sound great with a rumbling dual exhaust system behind it. The chassis is original but in good order thanks to a lifetime in a warm climate, and it rides and handles with a tautness that is unexpected in a Buick. Classic Buick Road Wheels are always right on a sporting Buford and they carry fat 215/70/14 white-letter radials at all four corners. Nicely documented with the original bill of sale, window sticker, dealer invoice, and owner's manual, this is a great-looking Buick that gives you the high-profile look for a fraction of the price. Extremely Rare 1962 Buick Skylark, all-aluminum, high compression V8, dual carbs, hardtop coupe with the factory "Power Pack" engine. Fast, lightweight early muscle car. Only a few 1962 Skylarks are left on the planet in this good of Original Condition. Paint and body are Excellent. NEVER ANY RUST. It is exceptional. Just in unbelievable condition. Beautiful and unique styling. No accidents, all original sheet metal, low miles, well cared for. No leaks, tires are new. I can't think of anything it needs. Car is ready to show and drive anywhere. Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac produced Y-Bodies from 1961-1963. Very light at 2700lbs and fast, compact size, cutting edge engineering, all aluminum V8, uni-body, four-link rear suspension, early muscle cars. Prices are rising fast. There is an Oldsmobile Y-body for sale now for $71,000, another sold at $42,100, a Pontiac Y-body just sold for $39,000. The Buick Y-body is the best style. Skylarks were special built: In 1962 Buick made a Limited Edition Hardtop coupe in the Special line with a High Compression "Power Pack" all aluminum V8 engine. This motor is a work of art and an engineering masterpiece. GM sold the Patents, tooling, and manufacturing rights of the Buick 215 to Rover of England in 1965 and the motor was used in many vehicles, race cars, boats, and even airplanes due to it light weight and reliability. It was also used in Land Rovers until about 2004. At cars shows I have yet to see another one, and it gets LOTS of attention. This car is Rust-Free and still has the original undercoating on the underside of the body. Under the undercoating you can see the MINT original primer. It is in incredible shape. Everything works, it drives great, and it is fast. New BFG 215/60-15 tires on new 15" x 6" wheels. Options: Rare Regal Black original color exterior and original Red interior. Tinted windshield, glare proof tilt-type mirror, remote-control outside mirror, Dual-Path drive, glove box lamp, electric clock (works!), windshield washer. Everything works great. Skylark model standard options included: Power Pack motor, floor carpets, foam padded front and rear seat cushions, safety padded instrument panel, chrome roof drip moldings, single-speed wipers, wheel discs, white sidewall tires, back-up lamps, oil filter, deluxe steering wheel, deluxe radio that works, rocker panel & wheel opening moldings. Original Paperwork: Owners Manual, Service Manuals.Current California registration and fees paid until April 2017. Clear title in my name, in hand. The Engine is numbers matching, and by that I mean the engine is THE "born with" unit. V.I.N. is stamped on the engine. I believe the transmission is rebuilt original too. Engine: Rebuilt about 3000 miles ago. On the car now is an all-new Offenhauser Dual Weber 36 DCNVA carburetor intake. The original stock intake, rebuilt original 4 bbl carb, and original air cleaner come with the car if desired, and is very easy to swap. Stock exhaust manifolds flow into custom exhaust with a FlowMaster muffler and it sounds great at all speeds (sound videos are on Photobucket link). Cam is a Crower Level 3 and has a nice strong lope to it and lots of power.Valve covers and air cleaner still have original Factory "Hammer-tone" paint on them in excellent condition.Fresh oil change, coolant changed, all new hoses, NOS AC spark plugs and new Pertronix stock look wires, new points, new coil. Transmission: Original 2 speed Dual-Path. Looks to be rebuilt. Shifts perfectly. Fluid changed.Rear end: Original 3:36 ratio. Oil changed.Brakes and Suspension: All good. Stops perfectly. Newer pads. Fluid changed. Wheel bearings cleaned and repacked. All suspension and steering is good and tight. Drives straight. All body and suspension bushings are good.Body: Beautiful rust free with original panels, base coat/ clear coat repaint. NO rust repairs needed. All trim was removed for the re-paint and then polished and re-installed after paint. Car was block sanded. Color sanded and buffed. High gloss. NO dents, NO scratches. GSX emblem added to grill, easy to remove but looks perfect there. Unbelievably clean under body. Zero rust. All original glass is good. Front and Rear bumpers and taillights are new chrome. All trim is excellent. Some new window and door weatherstripping only where needed. Body is RUST FREE. Amazing body condition. Way above average. Interior: ALL ORIGINAL Very Rare red/black BX514 code interior. Steering wheel is excellent condition-no cracks. Dash is excellent-no cracks, original door panels are excellent with original carpet on them, original carpeted kick panels, original headliner is excellent, original clock and Radio are still working. All gauges and controls work. Excellent original seat covers front and rear except only drivers seat looks redone. New carpet, original excellent mesh package tray. Cars like this 1968 Buick Skylark are affordable V8 fun that deliver more luxury, more comfort, and just as much performance as a comparable Chevelle, all for thousands less. Look around and I doubt you'll find a cleaner A-body with factory A/C than this! The turquoise color is pretty darned close to the original code K Aqua Mist, and we have to admit that we love the look on this car. With the bright white vinyl top, it has a very upbeat look that's still grown-up, perfect for the sporting Buick. Styling was all-new in 1968, and the dramatic sweeping crease that runs through the fenders, doors, and quarter panels is designed to emulate the "sweep-spear" styling of the 1940s and '50s. It really works well here, especially with clean, straight bodywork that doesn't let any ripples or misaligned panels get in the way of the look. For a Buick, there's a minimal amount of trim, which was optional, letting the clean, nicely restored bodywork speak for itself. Both bumpers fit well with nice chrome, and it's kind of nice to see that they didn't bother to try to dress this one up as a fake GS or something like that. Twin chrome strips down the trunk give it an upscale look and all the stainless trim has been buffed up to look great. You won't find many of these that have been treated as well as this one has. The bright white vinyl interior has a lot of new pieces and a few original bits, all combining to make a comfortable, inviting driving environment. The white upholstery is complemented by black carpets and dashboard, so it's not overwhelming, and with a fold-down center armrest, it's easy to get comfortable in the big Buick. A unique steering wheel should be familiar to long-time Buick fans, and the gauges have cool white faces that were way ahead of their time. The secondary controls have a brushed stainless applique and it's nice to see that the A/C is fully functional with good old R12 inside. There's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash and it was neatly installed so nothing was cut or mangled, and we especially like the Skylark's ornate door panels that recall the decorative pieces from the 1940s. There's also a big trunk that's tidy and clean and has nothing to hide. Buick's 350 cubic inch V8 is all about torque, and this one with its two-barrel carburetor is a fantastic runner. Sure, you could upgrade to a 4-barrel, but I bet you wouldn't feel the difference and it's so smooth and easy to drive, I'd be afraid of losing that user-friendly nature. It's pretty original, with Dante Red paint on the block and a big air cleaner up top, but a weekend of cleaning things up would pay big dividends. It appears that the A/C system has some recent service work and it offers a nice V8 rumble from the single exhaust system. An automatic transmission was the most popular choice in the Skylark, which really is a luxury car first and a sporty car second, and with highway-friendly gears out back, you can cruise for hours without feeling fatigued. The suspension is supple, the steering is smooth, and with recent 205/75/15 radials on original Buick Road Wheels, it looks great and handles beautifully. You get a lot of car for your money with vintage Buicks, and this Skylark is a great example. Come in and take it for a drive; we promise you'll love Buick's take on the familiar A-body.
