Introduced on October 5, 1965, the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow and Bentley T-Series were unveiled at the Paris Salon Motor Show with rave reviews. The Silver Shadow was a limited production Saloon that used the familiar 6.75 litre V8 engine built by Rolls Royce. The new Silver Shadow was 3 and a half inches narrower and 7 inches shorter than the previous model but still managed to make more interior space for the passengers. The Silver Shadow II was redesigned for model year 1977 and ran until 1980 with just 8425 examples made worldwide. Many automobile journalists have said over the years that the Silver Shadow and T Series Saloons are amongst the best handling and most loveliest of the older generations of Rolls Royce and Bentley cars. The car has either been serviced at Bentley/Rolls Royce of Beverly Hills or Desert European Motor Cars. The paint on the car is in beautiful condition showing very few flaws .The Shell Grey paint looks very nice and free from any fade or sun spots. The Masons Black lower half paint still has a stunning glossy finish and only shows a quarter size chip (which has been touched up) in the passenger lower quarter panel and a few tiny small stone chips in the front end. The body of the car is in excellent shape and free from any rust, dents, dings or corrosion. There are no signs of any prior accidents or damage anywhere. All of the chrome and rubber on the exterior of the car still shows beautifully and all of the light lenses and glass are all clear and free from any cracks or pitting. The interior has a lovely patina to it and all of the original Connolly leather is still very soft and supple free from any discoloration or tears. The original wool carpets are in beautiful shape and free from any stains or tears. All of the real wood veneer is still in stunning shape and with only a couple tiny hairline cracks on the front door rails. The wood still retains a beautiful dark red/brown color. All of the leather on the dashboard is still in beautiful condition, free from any discoloration or separating. All of the switchgear is in excellent condition aside from the “fasten safety belt sign” on the lower dash which shows some discoloration on the plastic cover. The car still retains its original 8-Track player which is still in working order. The dash lights, interior lights, headlights, taillights, reverse lights, side marker lights, turn signals, and license plate lights are all working. All of the electrical equipment is in proper working order as well, the AC is ice cold and the heat is blowing out warm. All of the power windows are in working order, the power door locks are working, the power seats are working (driver seat is a little slow to move) and the power antenna is working. This Rolls Royce mechanically is in excellent condition; it starts right up and idles smoothly. It does not smoke on start up and the car shifts into gear with ease. It accelerates very smoothly and shifts through all of the gears without any hesitation. The brakes feel solid and smooth, and are free from any fade or grinding. The car rides incredibly smooth and gives the passengers a ride only a true British luxury saloon can give. In 1974 the W116 body S-Class was given the European Car of the Year award cementing the W116 as the best Luxury Sedan money could buy. Aside from the ultra rare 6.9 litre model, the 450SEL was the top of the line sedan offered by Mercedes-Benz and came with the venerable and very durable 4.5 litre eight cylinder Mercedes-Benz built engine. Production of the W116 ceased in September of 1980 and many Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts prefer the W116 for its stunning muscular lines and unquestionable build quality. The car left the Mercedes-Benz production line in August of 1979 and invoiced to Mercedes-Benz of North America. The car was sent to Beverly Hills Ltd on Wilshire Blvd where it sold to its first owner on November 9, 1979. The car has lived in Beverly Hills since new and has been under the care of one single family ownership since and traveled only 121,520 actual miles. All of the service has been done at Beverly Hills Mercedes or a specialist and is documented in the Mercedes-Benz service books. The owner of the car was very meticulous with the care given to the car and it shows in the condition. The paint and body of the car are in outstanding condition. The metallic Medium Red paint does not show any scratches or fade spots anywhere on the car and only shows some very light stone chips in the front nose of the car. The body is 100% straight and rust free, showing no signs of prior or current damage. All of the exterior trim is in excellent condition and does not show any signs of damage or cracking on the chrome, plastics or rubber. All of the glass is very clear and pit and crack free. The original factory Bundt style Mercedes wheels are in excellent condition excepet for some minor chrome pitting. The interior leather looks almost new, the leather is very soft and supple and does not show any cracks or tears anywhere. The carpets are in excellent condition with brand new factory floor mats and are stain and tear free. All of the original wood trim looks beautiful and still retains a dark red brown color and only shows a couple very small hairline cracks. The dashboard is still finished in its original factory materials and still in excellent condition (3 hairline cracks closer to the windshield). The headliner looks outstanding, completely original and free from any stains or damage. All of the switchgear and running gear look outstanding and are in proper working order. The AC and heat work as they should, all of the power windows are functioning, the sunroof operates like it was designed to and the factory power antenna is working as designed to. All of the lights are working as they should, the turn signals, brake lights, taillights, reverse lights, headlights, side marker lights, interior lights and dash lights are all working. The car has just had an extensive amount of work done, including a full tune up, spark plugs and wires, all fluids, many new hoses, belts and seals, new suspension, ball joints, tie rods, all four new tires and brake pads. The AC has just been overhauled and blows very cold and on all fan speeds. The car starts right up and does not smoke and idles very smoothly. The car shifts into gear without any hesitation and accelerates very smoothly. This SEL has an abundant amount of smooth power and a very smooth shifting transmission. The suspension feels very solid and very tight over bumps. The steering feel is excellent, there are no vibrations or drifting of any kind and the brakes feel solid and free from any squeaking or fade. The car comes with all of its original tools in their tool roll, the original spare tire and jack is present as well as all of the original Mercedes-Benz books. The warranty book, owners manual, maintenance book, emissions book, dealer book, tire book, quick guide and radio book are all present with the car including the Mercedes-Benz parts book. The new S-Class (internal codename W116) was heavily based off of the new SL (R107) and introduced a brand new muscular styling cue that would continue with Mercedes-Benz until 1993. The new S-Class model was the first to officially carry the S-Class name. Knowledge gained from the C111 experimental prototype was incorporated into the new S-Class sedan including all new safety and performance features never before seen on a car. In 1974 the W116 body S-Class was given the European Car of the Year award cementing the W116 as the best Luxury Sedan money could buy. Aside from the ultra rare 6.9 litre model, the 450SEL was the top of the line sedan offered by Mercedes-Benz and came with the venerable and very durable 4.5 litre eight cylinder Mercedes-Benz built engine. Production of the W116 ceased in September of 1980 and many Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts prefer the W116 for its stunning muscular lines and unquestionable build quality. The car left the Mercedes-Benz production line in August of 1979 and invoiced to Mercedes-Benz of North America. The car was sent to Beverly Hills Ltd on Wilshire Blvd where it sold to its first owner on November 9, 1979. The car has lived in Beverly Hills since new and has been under the care of one single family ownership since and traveled only 121,520 actual miles. All of the service has been done at Beverly Hills Mercedes or a specialist and is documented in the Mercedes-Benz service books. The owner of the car was very meticulous with the care given to the car and it shows in the condition. The paint and body of the car are in outstanding condition. The metallic Medium Red paint does not show any scratches or fade spots anywhere on the car and only shows some very light stone chips in the front nose of the car. The body is 100% straight and rust free, showing no signs of prior or current damage. All of the exterior trim is in excellent condition and does not show any signs of damage or cracking on the chrome, plastics or rubber. All of the glass is very clear and pit and crack free. The original factory Bundt style Mercedes wheels are in excellent condition excepet for some minor chrome pitting. The interior leather looks almost new, the leather is very soft and supple and does not show any cracks or tears anywhere. The carpets are in excellent condition with brand new factory floor mats and are stain and tear free. All of the original wood trim looks beautiful and still retains a dark red brown color and only shows a couple very small hairline cracks. The dashboard is still finished in its original factory materials and still in excellent condition (3 hairline cracks closer to the windshield). The headliner looks outstanding, completely original and free from any stains or damage. All of the switchgear and running gear look outstanding and are in proper working order. The AC and heat work as they should, all of the power windows are functioning, the sunroof operates like it was designed to and the factory power antenna is working as designed to. All of the lights are working as they should, the turn signals, brake lights, taillights, reverse lights, headlights, side marker lights, interior lights and dash lights are all working. The car has just had an extensive amount of work done, including a full tune up, spark plugs and wires, all fluids, many new hoses, belts and seals, new suspension, ball joints, tie rods, all four new tires and brake pads. The AC has just been overhauled and blows very cold and on all fan speeds. The car starts right up and does not smoke and idles very smoothly. The car shifts into gear without any hesitation and accelerates very smoothly. This SEL has an abundant amount of smooth power and a very smooth shifting transmission. Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow 1976 A really nice clean original example ready to be enjoyed! Here is a really fine and original example of a Silver Shadow. Finished in 2-tone Walnut over over Masons black with tan fine lines to the waist-rail and hubcap beauty rings. The interior has handsome black Connolly hides with light tan seat piping and matching tan Wilton wool carpets. The same theme carries through to the boot. This is an unmolested example that has been beautifully maintained and presents in very good condition. It is primarily all original with no modifications, right down to the Blaupunkt 8-track cassette tape player and push-button radio between the seats. This was a Beverly Hills Californian car most of its life having only for the last few years resided in Lousiana so it is a very “dry” entirely rust free example that had a garaged environment. It has always been well maintained and serviced and comes with its original manual. It was original purchased by Lucille Groman, a prominent socialite amongst Hollywood stars who married Bert Richman (manager to famous actor, Dean Jones; "the Love Bug" and "Beethoven"). The original ownership card of Mrs Groman remains with the papers of the car. The Silver Shadow presented here has been recently fully work-shop inspected with all work needed carried out. Although a well maintained car to commence with, all important costly items such as the hydraulics and brakes have been fully inspected and serviced as needed. The rear height control works as it should (testament to a well serviced example as many are often disconnected). It is ready to drive and enjoy. The odometer shows a low 50,400 and although this is not verifiable the mileage is commensurate with the condition (particularly when you look at the condition of the leather, carpets, brake pedal etc). It is very quiet and smooth on the road without any of the typical “thumps” and “rattles” typical of poor (or even averagely) maintained examples of this model. The interior looks close to perfect. It is a spectacular highlight of the car's presentation. The black leather is in absolutely outstanding original condition with no cracks, tears nor fading and very supple and soft – true to its Connolly characteristics. The leather really has been lovingly preserved. All the burl walnut wood finishes are original; the dash, centre console, door cappings and vanity mirrors. This is very rare to see as all Silver Shadows by now are showing the typical hairline fractures and cracking in the clear lacquer. This car displays little to none of this. Simply outstanding and is another clear indicator the car has been housed indoors most of its life. The head lining is original and in perfect condition. The original tan Wilton wool carpets with black leather binding are also in fantastic condition. Likewise are the black finishes to the dash and top-roll. The boot (trunk) carpet with the same tan and black binding theme is also in excellent condition. The body on this Shadow is straight and the paint is shiny and lustrous. The 2-tone arrangement is the original factory colour scheme. The car still displays its original Walnut paint finish from the factory. Although all clean and consistent, there are signs of aging on the upper half. The car does show little chips and nicks here and there (but no dents or dings) and the typical Rolls-Royce weak spots of light paint fatigue at the base of the “A” and “C” pillars - ALL original Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars from this era suffered this effect, where the infamous “lead wiping technique” was employed (lead was used to join panels instead of bondo and, given the characteristics of lead vs. steel, the lead would expand and contract at a different rate causing the paint surface to crack over time). The roof top has lightly crazed but you cannot see this as you casually approach the car, (you need to get close to see it). Notwithstanding, it all together presents very well and is ideal for a lovely "weekend driver". It does not warrant redoing if this is your intent of ownership. Importantly, when you look down the sides of the car, they are very straight and true. From a driver/enthusiast point of view, the imperfections are quite acceptable and do not detract from the cars overall appearance. It is certainly shiny and crisp. The white-wall Hankook tyres are near new (still sporting the “knobblies” of a new tyre) and the hubcaps are excellent with no imperfections in the stainless or painted trim rings. The stainless caps are either new or perhaps were machine polished very recently. The pin-striping on the beauty rings are finished in the original hand-painted technique. All remaining bright-work is in good condition as is glass, electrics and instruments. All electrics have been checked right down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout its life. You must take the time to look at the photos of the engine bay as its presentation is like that of only a 5 year old example. Simply stunning! The car has its original jack and correct tools and operating manual. Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II 1977 Old Ivory over burgundy with ivory piping. **Many photos below, so please take the time to read the description to allow them all to load.** This is a really beautiful combination Silver Shadow II finished in Old Ivory with hand-painted fine lines in burgundy to the waist lines and the hubcap beauty rings. The Connolly interior is finished in rich burgundy with off-white piping and matching floor rugs in the same theme. It is a stunning example that was lightly restored some 2 years ago by Park-Ward Motors - a leader in Rolls-Royce restoration with over 30 years Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience. Indeed; "Masters of the Art". It has travelled only some 3,000 miles since. The body on this Shadow II is exceptionally straight and the paint is in excellent presentation and condition. It is consistent, very shiny and deep lustered and has only the most slight little scratches and chips - as you might expect on a 5 year old car. The fine lines were hand-painted by a craftsman of the art and these were done on the waist-rails and hubcap beauty trim rings in accordance with Rolls-Royce factory recommendations. The car actually presents even nicer in real-life than it does in the photographs – the photos tend to down-play the colour combination but the Old Ivory with the burgundy and cream interior is really something elegant - it truly is a very elegant and tastefully presented example. The burl walnut wood finishes were redone at considerable cost by Park-Ward's Rolls-Royce wood restoration experts and they present in excellent original RR condition. The finish has no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer, each hand-rubbed between coats. Thanks to the grace of Mother Nature, the grain of the burl is very rich and intense and with its mirror finish is deep and inviting. The finish can only be best appreciated in real-life by "touch and feel". The Connolly leather is in excellent condition throughout without any notable marks or blemishes. It is finished in rich burgundy with a cream or "off-white" piping. The carpets are the same theme. The leather was re-Connollised (a detailed hand-finish process which ensures an original finish and presentation) 2 years ago and still presents very well - nothing is out of place and the interior presents brilliantly. Please have a look at the photo link of the many close-ups of the leather. The dash is good with minimal leather pulling around the vents. The head-liner and rear parcel shelf are excellent. All glass, chrome and bright work are excellent. All lights, instruments, features and functions are in working order. At the time of restoration, the owner requested the option of "heated seats", something not otherwise available on the Silver Shadow series. Park-Ward Motors installed these in a very discrete factory-style manner keeping the original look. Mechanically, she is a regularly maintained example with all services up to date and recently thoroughly checked with anything requiring attention repaired and/or replaced as needed. The recent owner was very fussy and even though we know "all Rolls-Royces leak oil" he spent considerable money changing all seals and gaskets resulting in what is, most likely, the driest Rolls-Royce in the country! Everything is functioning as it should including hydraulics & brakes - bled and pressure tested with various parts replaced/over-hauled (reservoir, pumps, accumulator, hoses etc). All electrics; seats, windows, gauges and instruments work well. The climate control is in good order with the heater nice and hot and the air conditioning blowing icy cold. Everything is original so it is to OEM Rolls-Royce standard without modification. Brand new whitewall tires were fitted all-round and these currently sport 90+% of their new-tyre tread. The car has NOT been "tarted-up" but professionally restored with all aspects attended to correctly and with pride and passion by craftsmen in all aspects Rolls-Royce. It has been completely workshop inspected and mechanically over-hauled where required. Even the stainless and bright-work were completely removed and hand-polished off the vehicle and again when re-assembled and mounted. This Silver Shadow II was a west coast car most of its life and then spent some 8 years in storage in Arizona. It was purchased by a Californian enthusiast following her detailed restoration. The car has only been driven on special occasions and has never seen snow and salty roads. The car is an extremely beautiful presenting example that is well in advance of any Silver Shadow II and is in excellent driver condition. On March 31st, 1999, David Romer and his brother, Richard Romer agreed to purchase this Ferrari through Mike Regalia’s services for a price of $58,000. The vehicle was to be delivered to Mr. Regalia’s home in Sun Valley, California where it would receive a full bare-metal repaint and extensive restoration and repair work over the next ten months. The car was then over the next 14 years carefully cared for and serviced by the Romer Brothers without consideration for time or expense until their eventual sale in the Summer of 2014 to a private collector in Northern California.
