Prev Stop Play Next DescriptionMGB GT 1971 VIN 71GHDUB228940G This is a truly rust free California MGB that has had the engine and transmission removed for rebuild and never put back together. Purchased new by a couple from Arrow Motors in Compton, CA in Aug 1971 and was used as a daily driver until the engine needed to be rebuilt. The engine and transmission were removed some time around 1985 and car was left to sit in the yard of their home and neglected. We purchased the car as part of a fleet of cars sold by the widow shortly after the husband died. The good stuff. The only rust on the vehicle is surface rust from years of sitting. Interior is decent. Rear seat is very very nice, headliner is in great shape, padded dash has very few cracks, all instruments are in good shape and all switches work. Car has never been in an accident but some minor damage as can be seen in pictures. All glass is original Triplex glass in excellent condition except the windshield which has been replaced with a US procured glass. All britework seems to clean up easily. Both bumpers have twists in them and will require straightening. The original engine and transmission "MAY" be available with proper negotiation with the widow. We have seen them in her garage and tried to get her to sell them to us but she feels they belong to the MGA restoration project which she is saving for her daughter. With some skill, proper identification and money the engine and transmission could be relieved from the widow. We have the contact info. Title is a CA that is clear. Vehicle was put into CA NON OP when engine was removed so no back fees are due. Both original plates are with the vehicle. Mileage shows 8732 which we believe to be 108732. Easy car to make into a daily driver or restore Car is currently in storage and will require immediate pickup. We do not have the room to store this vehicle. production for the TR6. It was one of Triumph’s most successful open sports cars. This example was originally imported and sold by British Motor Car Distributors in Compton, CA. Most of its life was spent in California before being shipped back to Virginia. Per the original bill of sale (see pic), this TR6 was equipped with the following from Triumph: 4-Speed syncromesh gearbox 4-Wheel independent suspension Front disc brakes Tonneau cover Michelin-X radial tires AM/FM radio Total MSRP was $6,522.50. That is the equivalent of purchasing a $30,000 car today. The current owner purchased the car in 2010. The inline 2,498cc six-cylinder motor with four-speed had been rebuilt shortly before he purchased it. Although we have no records of the rebuild, the inspection showed that the mechanicals were recently sorted. Also, the twin 1.75” Stromberg side draft carburetors were rebuilt. The car went through a thorough inspection. They even used laser measurements to check the frame and found the car to be in superb condition. For the next three years, this owner used it as a daily driver. He put about 5,000-miles per year on it. Recently, he relocated to Southern California and brought the car with him. He also purchased a Porsche Boxster and is finding that he doesn’t have the time to drive the TR6 as much as he used to. Since he bought the TR6, he has done a superb job of maintaining and enhancing the car. He used Abacus Racing from Norfolk, VA to service the car. They are very well respected vintage British car specialists. Copies of all the records and receipts since he bought the car are available. Upon purchase, he had a full pre-purchase inspection performed and the car was given high marks. The compression test results were excellent as well: 1) 154 2) 147 3) 155 4) 150 5) 149 6) 152 This TR6 was restored in the summer of 2010, just before the current owner purchased the car. As you can see by the pictures attached, the undercarriage received quite a bit of attention. New U-joints, lower control arm bushings, tie-rod bushings, rear end link bushings, and front-end link kit were installed. A new front sway bar was also installed to improve handling. Finally, the undercarriage was freshly painted. The bright work was also polished and the original wheels were restored. The engine bay and trunk were nicely detailed as well. As you can imagine, this TR6 is in better condition than most examples on the market. It not only looks great, but it drives superbly. It shifts smoothly and accelerates without any hesitation. The condition of the car is what I would describe as a strong street concours level. The body is in great condition. There are no scratches, dents, etc. Of course, there is no rust and the body is very straight with excellent gaps. There is a small paint blemish by the left front fender (see pic) but that is about it. The car wears the correct Michelin tires that have over 75% life remaining. The car is equipped with headlight mesh grills. The driver-side is missing one clip to properly secure the grill. The interior is equally nice. The new walnut dash looks great. The seats were reupholstered some time ago and the leather has a nice patina with no tears. The vinyl dash-top appears to be original with two cracks that have been mended. The soft-top was new when the owner purchased the car a few years ago and is in excellent condition. There is one small tear that was professionally repaired and it does not leak. The plastic windows are perfect and have no discoloration. All the factory Smith gauges appear to work properly. There is an aftermarket radio that gets power but does not operate. Whether you want to have a fun weekend touring car or are looking to compete on the local car show circuit, this TR6 can do it all. Included with this Triumph are complete maintenance records since 2010, original window-sticker/bill of sale, driver’s handbook/workshop manual, glove box operator’s manual, tonneau cover, front-end bra, custom car cover, headlight grills, original 1976 TR6 sales brochures, and extra keys. I have never seen another fully documented example of a ’67 SS427 in my life. An interesting note about the 1967 Chevrolet SS427 is that you will not find the name ‘Impala’ anywhere at all on the body. Chevrolet engineers must have wanted to make sure that people saw these special Impalas as SS427s. Most of the marketing of the time illustrated these cars as the ‘Chevrolet SS427’. Mr. Robert Sam & Ms. Susan Spoon walked into Bob Thomas Chevrolet & Cadillac Co. in Bend Oregon on Halloween night, October 31st, 1970, and purchased this 1967 Chevrolet SS427. She was built @ the Compton California GM Plant and left the factory with ALL of the right options, which makes this sought-after vehicle even more desirable. Factory options include: 427/385hp Turbojet engine, Muncie M21 4-Speed Manual Transmission, 3.70 Positraction Rear Axle, Power Steering, Power Front Disc Brakes, Strato-Bucket Front Seats, Center Console, Comfortilt Steering Wheel, Front & Rear Bumper Guards, Tinted Glass, AM/FM Radio w/ Rear Speakers, Rear Mount Antenna, Left Outside Remote Mirror, Mag-Style Wheel Covers and Color Key Floor Mats.
