BODYWORK/TRIM Professionally assembled by Charlotte's own Finished Dreams Restoration, and professionally painted by Winston-Salem's The Paint Shop, this Ford's lust-inducing body reflects a picturesque coat of Raven Black 2-stage. From its glossy shine to its chip-free rocker panels, that paint's deep finish is nice enough to be the star at any local cruise night, and certainly nicer than the car's original, factory-applied pigment. Naturally, a star of that caliber requires top notch panel fit, as the folks who bolted this coupe together spent ample time making sure its jet-inspired fuselage maintained excellent cohesion. Modern headlights, Mark VIII door handles and a power moonroof perfectly complement turquoise birds and brilliant trim that was carefully refinished by the pros at Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee. And today, this classic rolls as a stunning tribute to one of the coolest designs to ever fly out of Dearborn, Michigan. ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN Toss the car's chrome-trimmed hood and you'll find a 32-valve dual overhead cam Lincoln InTech V8 that's one of the hottest and most versatile engines Ford ever produced. Stout, solid and highly adaptable, these Teksid aluminum blocks have spent the last two decades powering everything from Mustangs and street rods to Aviators and Panoz roadsters. And not only does the modern gem crank out roughly 300 horsepower, it also features a tidy appearance that, when combined with the car's monochromatic engine bay, literally looks tailor-made. That high tech mill, fully rebuilt back in 2009, sends power to a Mark VIII-spec 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission. And that gearbox twists a Mark VIII-spec rear axle that's fitted with mild, 3.08 gears. CHASSIS/SUSPENSION The interesting thing about Finished Dreams is the quality of their conversions. Instead of a simple engine swap, or a pro-touring style adaptation, this '61 T-Bird's body is actually mated to its Lincoln donor chassis as one complete structure. The car's floor and frame are straight Lincoln. That duo is supported by Lincoln's fully independent suspension, which retains the computer-controlled air ride that made the Mark VIII so famous. Power rack-and-pinion steering provides modern turning ability. Pound on the left pedal and power-assisted, 4-wheel disc brakes utilize factory ABS to fulfill a quick stop. Romp on the right pedal and a Ford-spec exhaust system creates a subdued roar. And at the corners, handsome Dayton wires twist 275/40ZR17 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports. INTERIOR One of the central themes of pro-touring is creating cars that, despite their appearance, are much easier to live with than their factory-correct peers. Nowhere is that mindset more prevalent than inside this 'bird's full Mark VIII interior. The passengers are treated to plush leather seats, which feature full power adjustment for the driver and front passenger. In front of those seats, a driver-oriented dash anchors Lincoln telemetry beside Lincoln air conditioning and Lincoln audio. The paint is bright red, the engine a sweet running 289, it has power steering, the black interior is nice. VIN: 6F07C344004 MILES: 67,443 showing and my guess is that it has another 100,000. IS THERE any RUST PROBLEMS? I think it looks good, its no new car, but the floors look original and good other than surface rusty color. No bubbles in the paint, the worst thing I see is a crack in the seam that runs from the trunk corner to the corner of the back window, this is very common, its in the seam, I will touch it up with some matching paint (look at my pictures, its no big deal). WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a 67 year old retired mechanic/classic car restorer/auto mechanics instructor, when I find a car I like, can sell for a fair market price and make a few bucks, I buy it fix a few things and resell. PAINT: Very shinny presentable paint. It is a metallic red, not the original color, it looks like a new Mustang color, Wild Stawberry. The paint is nice on a good straight body to my eye. No dents and no dings, some very hard to see touched up chips. CHROME AND BRIGHTWORK: The chrome is very presentable, the bumpers llok new, the bumper guards are a little dull, the emblems are nice, the door handles have some pits, the rear quarter chevrons have some pits, the window stainless is very nice for original. INTEROR: The upholstery is very nice, no smells and no real wear, the head liner does have a hole (I will patch it but if you look up you will see it, the seat covers good, the carpet, the steering wheel good, door panels good but wavy, the kick panels good.l GLASS: The sides window roll up and down decent, the windshield is clear. ENGINE: The engine is a good running Ford 289 cubic inch, it starts good, it runs good, it has no rattles, it has no knocks. We did paint the top, it was very faded. Its a good engine! EXHAUST SYSTEM: Good exhaust, but not new. TRANSMISSION:Its a 3 speed automatic that shifts good, its a Ford C4. It is clean just like it was just rebuit, past owner said it had been rebuilt by AAMCO. REAR-END: No whines or growls, its a 8 inch. BRAKES: Good brakes, they are drums all around. STEERING: The car drives good for a early Mustang. WHEELS AND TIRES: The wheels are the originals, the tires good Dayton Daytona, the hubcap nice original Ford spinners. LIGHTS: They work, turn signals work, headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, interior lights work. SPEEDOMETER WORKS! GAS GAUGE WORKS! Wipers work! Horn is working today! GAUGES: They work, the amp gauges never worked good on the old Mustangs. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? OK for a Mustang. HOW IS THE PANEL FIT? Normal Mustang fit, that's not perfect. CAN I DRIVE THE CAR HOME? The car drives good and everything I have checked is in good condition, but I do not recommend driving any old car home. Reason, I test drive them like a garage doing repair work would, I do not take long trips in them, so it worries me when people head out in a old car. driver quality Pony. The paint is bright red, the engine a sweet running 289, it has power steering, the black interior is nice. VIN: 6F07C344004 MILES: 67,443 showing and my guess is that it has another 100,000. IS THERE any RUST PROBLEMS? I think it looks good, its no new car, but the floors look original and good other than surface rusty color. No bubbles in the paint, the worst thing I see is a crack in the seam that runs from the trunk corner to the corner of the back window, this is very common, its in the seam, I will touch it up with some matching paint (look at my pictures, its no big deal). WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a 67 year old retired mechanic/classic car restorer/auto mechanics instructor, when I find a car I like, can sell for a fair market price and make a few bucks, I buy it fix a few things and resell. PAINT: Very shinny presentable paint. It is a metallic red, not the original color, it looks like a new Mustang color, Wild Stawberry. The paint is nice on a good straight body to my eye. No dents and no dings, some very hard to see touched up chips. CHROME AND BRIGHTWORK: The chrome is very presentable, the bumpers llok new, the bumper guards are a little dull, the emblems are nice, the door handles have some pits, the rear quarter chevrons have some pits, the window stainless is very nice for original. INTEROR: The upholstery is very nice, no smells and no real wear, the head liner does have a hole (I will patch it but if you look up you will see it, the seat covers good, the carpet, the steering wheel good, door panels good but wavy, the kick panels good.l GLASS: The sides window roll up and down decent, the windshield is clear. ENGINE: The engine is a good running Ford 289 cubic inch, it starts good, it runs good, it has no rattles, it has no knocks. We did paint the top, it was very faded. Its a good engine! EXHAUST SYSTEM: Good exhaust, but not new. TRANSMISSION:Its a 3 speed automatic that shifts good, its a Ford C4. It is clean just like it was just rebuit, past owner said it had been rebuilt by AAMCO. REAR-END: No whines or growls, its a 8 inch. BRAKES: Good brakes, they are drums all around. STEERING: The car drives good for a early Mustang. WHEELS AND TIRES: The wheels are the originals, the tires good Dayton Daytona, the hubcap nice original Ford spinners. LIGHTS: They work, turn signals work, headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, interior lights work. SPEEDOMETER WORKS! GAS GAUGE WORKS! Wipers work! Horn is working today! GAUGES: They work, the amp gauges never worked good on the old Mustangs. HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE? OK for a Mustang. HOW IS THE PANEL FIT? Normal Mustang fit, that's not perfect. CAN I DRIVE THE CAR HOME? The car drives good and everything I have checked is in good condition, but I do not recommend driving any old car home. Reason, I test drive them like a garage doing repair work would, I do not take long trips in them, so it worries me when people head out in a old car. Paint quality is great; it shines like glass with no swirl marks, rock chips, etc. The quarter panels, doors and fenders are all super straight. The doors are rust free and show all the original factory seams….no bondo here. The same with the rockers, fenders and floors. The sheet metal is all original except for an aftermarket hood, which does not fit as well. The vehicle is equipped with a new Flowmaster exhaust system and sounds great. Underneath, the frame and undercarriage on this car are immaculate. This SS Chevelle is also equipped with new air shocks in the rear, front sway bar, rebuilt power brakes and new lines, and all new suspension parts (springs, bushings, etc). A new gas tank and gas lines were also installed. New Rally rims (upgraded to 15”) along with Firestone G70 wide ovals set this car off. The vehicle has new weather stripping, window fuzzies and gaskets. The car’s stance looks right and has those classic lines of a 60’s muscle car. The windshield and windows are all new with no scratches. The bumpers and emblems are new and the window moldings have all been buffed to a high shine. The front grill and headlight bezels are new. Also new are the rear fascia and tail lights. The exterior needs nothing. This car turns heads every where it goes and will provide years of pride in ownership you can only find in cars of this quality. Inside the trunk is the spare tire with on a Rally rim along with the correct bumper jack, base and handle. The trunk is detailed and presents as factory stock appearance. It retains its original rust free trunk floor. The interior is all new; carpets, door panels, seat covers, headliner, everything. It is equipped with a working gauge cluster to monitor engine performance. All the instrumentation and interior lighting work. The floor consol has been restored and looks like new and includes the correct (working) clock. The 4 speed shifter is Hurst and provides a very solid shift. Everything on this car works as it should. The drive line consists of a rebuilt NOM BBC that has been rebuilt along with a fresh Muncie4 speed transmission and a 12 bolt rear end. A new aluminum 4 cores cross flow radiator keeps this big block cool. I have the original radiator in great condition if the buyer prefers to keep the engine bay more stock. A new starter, new alternator, new battery, 4 barrel Holly carb with electric choke, aluminum intake, belts, hoses, etc, etc, all complete this highly detailed engine bay. This vehicle is a pleasure to drive. It steers straight and under hard braking stays straight. The alignment is good. It starts with the 1st turn of the key. It is fast….an adrenaline machine. It has just been serviced and is ready to enjoy. This vehicle has received a frame off restoration to a high standard on a car out ofTennessee. Details The car is finished with a new Bolero red paint job and a new black vinyl top. This was an original red car with an R paint code. Paint quality is great; it shines like glass with no swirl marks, rock chips, etc. The quarter panels, doors and fenders are all super straight. It has a nice cam giving the truck a little attitude. It is quick. The engine bay is detailed and presents well. All the belts have been replaced as has the battery.
