That means Cobra enthusiasts don't have to look very hard to find a great variety of aftermarket support, and that makes it pretty easy to build a roadster any way they like it. The problem then becomes the amount of time and money that such a massive undertaking requires. After spending years writing check after check to shop after shop, the enthusiast finally gets to enjoy a car that, by that point in time, they might not even want. Fortunately, there is a better solution! Why not let your friends at RK Motors Charlotte sell you a top-notch custom like this killer Factory Five stroker for half the price, and a fraction of the time, of building it yourself? BODYWORK/TRIM Factory Five Racing has long been applauded for their great fiberglass work, and this Cobra is no exception. The car's virtually flawless profile, showcasing the typically tight tolerances that have become a Factory Five hallmark, lays excellent groundwork for a wet looking coat of glossy PPG Copperhead Pearl 2-stage. That 2-stage was applied at a professional finishing shop as part of a 2-year assembly that wrapped up in late 2005. Since Copperhead Pearl is always best when mixed with something else, the car's slick profile was detailed with Sherman Williams White Pearl stripes. And today, this super slick Cobra is a race-bred street king that's puts a refreshing twist on a timeless American classic. Detailing is crucial on a replica because that's where a lot of cars start to disappoint. Fortunately, you can tell the overall impression of one of these Cobras from about five feet away. And naturally, since were featuring it, this roadster hits all the right visuals! At the front of the car, a sculpted nose hangs a Dark Water Customs air splitter between satin quick lifts, mesh grilles and Cobra Valley Crystalite headlights. A sculpted hood anchors an integrated scoop between locking latches and billet Anvil Auto pins. Behind that hood, a stainless-trimmed windshield hangs a small mirror in front of clear wind wings and dark-tint visors. At the sides of the car, Satin Black exhaust pipes frame stylish 427 emblems, Finishline air extractors and a familiar, Monza-style fuel filler. And at the back of the car, a polished roll bar leads the eye to chrome-trimmed taillights, a locking trunk and two more satin quick lifts. ENGINE Great looks are only part of this Cobra's appeal: it also does a very good job of going really fast and making lots of awesome noise! Remove the car's tidy hood and you'll find a 347 cubic inch Ford stroker motor that utilizes a cast SCAT crank, forged SCAT rods, Keith Black hypereutectic pistons and a custom-grind hydraulic roller cam to churn big horsepower into ample torque. At the top of the balanced and blueprinted mill, a familiar Cobra air cleaner funnels wind in to a 1,200cfm Accel throttle body that's cinched to an Edelbrock Victor EFI intake. That intake is wired to 30 lb./hr. injectors, which siphon a Holley 250 pump, 6AN fluid lines and Edelbrock fuel rails. At the front of those rails, an Accel Dual Sync distributor utilizes Accel DFI 6A ignition and thick MSD Super Conductor plug wires to sequentially fire eight massive cylinders. Those cylinders combust under Dart Pro1 heads, which hide Chromoly pushrods, ARP bolts and Comp Pro Magnum roller rockers under a polished breather and Ford Racing valve covers. At the sides of those covers, coated Ford Racing headers feed high-flow Factory Five cats and stainless DNA mufflers. At the front of those headers, roller timing components back a billet March accessory drive, which spins a rebuilt alternator at the side of a reverse-rotation water pump. And that pump feeds a custom Tri-State Motorsports radiator, which fronts a large electric puller fan and Zoops expansion tank. Electronically, fresh American Autowire wiring works with Accel DFI Thruster EFI engine management to ensure miles of smiles. And niceties like Clevite bearings, Hastings rings, a Melling oil pump and a Forte's dual master cylinder add to the car's form and function. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Rule number one of hot rodding: an excellent drivetrain isn't worth the metal it's built from unless it's paired with a competent chassis. Behind this Cobra's hot small block, a poly-mounted, McLeod- shrouded Tremec TKII 5-speed pairs a steel Ford Motorsport flywheel with a Weber clutch and Centerforce pressure plate. That tough transmission spins a custom Forte's driveshaft, which is hooked to a spry Ford 8.8-inch axle stuffed with 3.27 gears. That axle pushes a Factory Five 3-link that's outfitted with Koni coil-overs, a Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar and a Vintage Performance Motorcars banana bracket. Opposite that rear end, an independent front-half hangs tubular control arms and two more Koni coil-overs between SN-95 Mustang spindles and a second Vintage Performance Motorcars sway bar. That suspension is guided by ATSCO power rack-and-pinion steering, which mixes a Flaming River lower shaft and Breeze Automotive bushings with Whitby's FAI modification and Forte's bump steer elimination. Stops come courtesy of manual disc brakes, which pair aluminum PBR calipers with two 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors and two 11.65-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Power meets the pavement through anthracite Bullitt wheels, which twist 255/40ZR17 Nitto NT05 street radials in front of 315/35ZR17 Nitto NT05 drag radials. And items like a high-torque mini starter, a custom driveshaft hoop, a quality Canton oil pan and a Trick Flow differential cover round out the car's impressive build. INTERIOR Take one look at the accompanying specs sheet and you'll see that this roadster was built to keep. And even though its cockpit still honors the purist nature of a no-nonsense, track-shredding sports car, many well-planned details ratchet up both comfort and appeal. Lightweight Kirkey seats stretch tight leather hides under heavy-duty safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a super clean dash founds reliable Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite telemetry between a 12-volt outlet, two brake proportioning knobs and a self-canceling Russ Thompson turn signal switch. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors hang Herb's custom panels inside Dark Water Customs sill trim. Below those doors, custom Loop Carpet anchors a North Racecars e-brake and Pro-5.0 shifter between a custom-dropped foot box and piped Factory Five floor mats. At the center of that carpet, a custom console balances stainless cupholders beneath crisp Alpine Type-S speakers. The driver feels the asphalt through a polished steering wheel, which laps assorted Russ Thompson foot pedals. The passenger stows cargo in a carpeted trunk, which balances a modern Alpine CD player opposite a brand new, billet-cinched Optima battery. And high quality Second Skin insulation works with power-operated Cobra Earl's foot box vents to combat the big engine's heat. Of course, we ALL know it just doesn't get any better than an Eisenhower-era convertible. And with that in mind, there are a few top-of-the-line cruisers that might qualify as your 'ultimate'. You could always snatch up a hot '57 Bel Air But as nice as those are, Chevrolet's market-dominating production capacity makes true exclusivity null and void. Well okay then, why not sign the papers on a slick '59 Impala Unfortunately, that car's bulk and extravagance push things a little too far into modern and weighty. There's always Buick's Holy Grail: the original Skylark But, while first year 'larks are certainly very cool, their lack of refinement can sometimes be a deal breaker. In that case, it's a good thing your friends at RK Motors Charlotte are offering this professionally restored Buick Series 100 Skylark! An official member of the 836 cars assembled during the last model year of the original Skylark, this investment grade drop-top is one of the rarest and most desirable '50s collector cars ever produced. Want the ultimate classic to park at shows or parade down Main Street? This Buick is the highly correct masterpiece you've been patiently waiting for! HISTORY/CREATION Introduced as a celebration of Buick's 50th anniversary, the 1953 Skylark was one of three specialty convertibles created to promote General Motors' leadership in design and innovation. Like its Fiesta and Eldorado stablemates, the big Buick was a limited-production, hand-made halo that was overwhelmingly admired by the public and rewarded with a very successful sales rate. For the 1954 model year, the marque transitioned to a Century-based replacement that, despite complementing the car's handsome looks with mass-production refinement, was not as well accepted. And by the end of the sales year, sentiment was low, numbers were low and GM decided to pull the plug on the tri-shield division's once celebrated line-topper. Today, roughly 60 years later, the car's world-class design characteristics can be found in pretty much every modern automaker's aesthetic DNA. And its unique blend of optimistic swagger and unmatched exclusivity make it one of the most coveted classics on the planet. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a thorough, frame-off restoration that was completed sometime around 2009, this killer drop-top is one of the coolest Buicks we've ever seen! The restorers began by stripping the car's smooth, Harley Earl-designed body all the way to bare metal. When that heavy cleaning was complete, solid panels were assembled into a clean profile that presents largely blemish-free surfaces. After that thorough test fitting, a silky coat of correct Arctic White paint was capped with correct Black vinyl and teased to a glossy, show-stopping shine. And today, this Skylark's prestigious appearance is a lust worthy representation of one of America's most glorious eras of motoring. ENGINE Lift the car's 'alligator hood' and you'll find a 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 that props a correct Roadmaster assembly stamp in front of a correct 1165165 casting number. Nicknamed the "Nail valve", and eventually known as the "Nailhead", this fully detailed mill employs greater lift and better duration to create a Kansas-flat power band. Funny thing is: hot rodders of the day actually coined the engine's nickname as a derisive description of its puny valvetrain and restrictive plumbing, but they certainly couldn't ignore its stellar power! The proven block has undoubtedly been rebuilt, and probably looks much better today than when it growled off the assembly line. Aesthetically, the mill, which perches a massive air cleaner and big, 4-barrel carburetor above factory heads, has been painted a traditional green hue. There are many fresh pieces like pliable belts, an old school generator and proven Belden ignition cables. A glossy firewall meets satin fenders to frame those pieces in a construct of distinctly American curves. And overall, the engine seems clean, simple and highly functional. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION While the '53 Skylark was essentially a fully optioned, slightly customized Roadmaster, GM decided to build the '54 model on Buick's shorter Century/Special chassis. This certainly wasn't a popular decision at the time, but it definitely benefits the car today as more precise build techniques and better commonality make restoration and maintenance much easier. The basis for this drop-top's solidity is an industrial strength frame that's married to a correctly restored suspension. At the center of that suspension, a new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow 2-speed twists power to a factory rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, Dynaflow-mandated power drum brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Turns come courtesy of Dynaflow-mandated power steering. A single-pipe exhaust system makes good use of a factory replacement muffler. Everything rolls on familiar Kelsey-Hayes wires, which spin 7.60-15 BF Goodrich Silvertown whitewalls around "SKYLARK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted, red-tinged undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. INTERIOR Loaded with virtually every option in the book, this classic Buick's correct Matador Red interior features a perfect mix of outrageous style and traditional American luxury. The big bench seats, 4-way adjustable up front, are stuffed with fresh Foamtex padding, covered in correct block-embossed leather and trimmed in pristine stainless brightwork. In front of those seats, a Carlsbad Black dash hangs chrome-trimmed gauges behind an electric clock, a Selectronic radio and a factory heater. At the base of that dash, high quality carpet frames matched Buick mats and slick Skylark sills. At the sides of that carpet, chrome-trimmed door panels found small power window switches between bright stainless toppers and correct chrome handles. In front of the driver, a flexible-spoke steering wheel spins a full horn ring around an ornate centerpiece. Behind the passengers, a lighted trunk hides a fifth Kelsey-Hayes wheel inside a fifth whitewall tire. And, based on a thorough visual inspection, the car's cockpit appears exceptionally restored, all the way from its glare-proof mirror to its snug-fitting convertible cowl. From six-figure originals to fiberglass replicas, the word "Cobra" can represent anything from a sinuous boulevard cruiser to a hardcore track star. With that in mind, every dynasty has a Sultan, and, for the Cobra, that Sultan is a classic like this outrageous Roush Yates-powered roadster. A professionally built, turnkey stormer, this track-ready beast combines killer looks and excellent build quality with a level of performance that's tailor-made for highly skilled drivers. If you're searching for a quick twist on an old favorite, forget about project cars pieced together from leftovers. And forget about sloppy replica builds that shame their fabled predecessors. Call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and pick up this razor-sharp snake. But be warned: this isn't the kind of car that's comfortable pulling 10 MPH passes at the local Dairy Queen. BODYWORK/TRIM Starting life at Venom Custom Fabrications, this super slick roadster wears virtually flawless fiberglass that mixes great fit with a noise-free driving experience. Stiffly reinforced body panels feature the smooth surfaces and typically tight gaps we've come to expect from top-notch aftermarket suppliers. The car's excellent finish is a testament to both OEM quality and the true talent and vision of its current owner. And, while few classics strike a perfect balance of outrageous looks, serious performance and excellent attention to detail, this Cobra's timeless black and gold pigment creates a simply irresistible curve carver! Speaking of details, they're often the downfall of an otherwise excellent build. Not so with this roadster, as every aspect of its design enhances Shelby's innate style and appeal. At the front of the car, familiar bumperettes reflect chrome-trimmed headlights, bullet-style parking lamps and a classy Shelby emblem. Behind that emblem, a scooped hood flows to stainless-trimmed glass that's seated between small wipers, tinted visors and clear wind wings. Below those wings, a bullet-style racing mirror complements finned air extractors, polished and shielded side pipes, and a requisite Monza fuel filler. And at the back of the car, chrome-trimmed taillights illuminate a chrome roll bar, a second Shelby emblem, two more bumperettes and a lockable trunk handle. ENGINE Twist this Cobra's chrome hood locks and you'll find a NASCAR-spec, Roush Yates-built D3 Ford 358 that, in 2011, twisted 750 dyno-proven horsepower into 543 lb./ft. of torque! And, if you know anything about NASCAR, you know about the brutal V8 wizardry that's quite literally propelled both Jack Roush and Robert Yates to extreme success. The beast feeds thanks to a big 4-barrel carburetor that rides between Earl's fluid lines, a Mr. Gasket pressure gauge and a K&N X-Stream air filter. Beneath that carb, an aluminum Edelbrock intake feeds Roush Yates heads, which are sandwiched between aluminum valve covers and wrapped, long-tube headers. At the front of that intake, a Crane distributor sequences fire through thick Champion Power Boost plug wires. Charge for that fire is provided a complete MSD HVC ignition system. Spark for that charge is provided by a small alternator, which, along with a massive water pump, spins on fresh V-belts. Lubrication comes courtesy of Peterson dry-sump components. A heavy duty aluminum radiator makes good use of a giant puller fan and polished overflow tank. There's a complete NOS nitrous system, in case you want to turn 'scary' into 'insane'. And the car's minimalist aluminum engine bay is nice and clean, featuring a painted hood, mirrored inner fenders and pertinent chassis identification. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION One of the best things about buying a high quality replica is the modern hardware underneath. MIG welded, TIG welded and completely powder-coated, this Shelby's Jig-made, ladder-style chassis and independent, BMW-style suspension are fully sorted and ready to hit the toughest track you can find. Behind the engine, a rugged Tremec 5-speed jerks a 4.25-inch Quarter Master Race Clutch, which is fed by a small Tilton fluid reservoir. All that jerking eventually makes its way to a modern rear end that's stuffed with stout, tire-chirping gears. Those gears are countered by power-assisted calipers, which squeeze four drilled and slotted discs. At the front of the car, fluid rack-and-pinion steering makes low speed parking almost as easy as high speed sweeps. Power meets the pavement through attractive Halibrand-style knock-offs, which twist 235/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 295/50R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. And items like a beefy sway bar, Penske racing shocks, braided fluid lines and a passenger-friendly 92-inch wheelbase round out an already impressive track warrior. INTERIOR Cobra interiors are usually stalwart and simple, but this roadster's Beige leather cockpit is comfortable and appealing. Well-padded seats are firm, look as good as new and feature heavy duty Simpson harnesses for increased safety. In front of those seats, a color-keyed dash hangs a tight leather faade around a small mirror, a combination of Spek and VDO gauges, and controls for the car's rarely used nitrous system. At the sides of that dash, lightweight doors are dressed in soft inserts, big map pockets and chrome handles. Below those doors, piped carpet floats premium floor mats between a chrome shifter, a chrome fire extinguisher, AC foot pedals and a satin hand brake. In front of the driver, a wood-rimmed steering wheel spins highly polished spokes around an "AC" branded horn button. And behind the passengers, a carpeted trunk hides a large nitrous tank opposite a modern battery. You might say the storied brand has done it all. It's the foundation for today's General Motors Company. It's the foundation for America's growth in the world's largest automotive market. And, in the '50s, when Detroit was at the top of its luxury game, fine automobiles like this magnificent Skylark gave serious credibility to the line "When better automobiles are built Buick will build them". Commissioned to celebrate the brand's 50th anniversary, this fully sorted cruiser is 1 of only 1,690 Skylarks assembled for the 1953 model year. Visually, it's some of the coolest metal to ever roll down an assembly line. Thanks to a remarkable combination of smooth power and world-class style, the car sits at the pinnacle of luxury engineering. And, if you're a cultured enthusiast who's looking for a clean, investment grade classic, it's the carefully restored masterpiece of your dreams! The 1953 Roadmaster Skylark was one of three specialty convertibles created to promote General Motors' leadership in design and innovation. Like its Fiesta and Eldorado stablemates, the Skylark was a limited-production, hand-made halo that was overwhelmingly admired by the public and rewarded with a very successful sales rate. Today, roughly 60 years later, the car's world-class design characteristics can be found in pretty much every modern automaker's aesthetic DNA. And its unique blend of optimistic swagger and unmatched exclusivity make it one of the most coveted classics on the planet. BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a thorough, frame-off restoration that was completed in the late '90s by Fort Wayne, Indiana's R&S Classic Auto, this killer drop-top is one of the sweetest tri-shields we've ever seen! The restorers began by stripping the car's curvaceous, mostly handmade body all the way to bare metal. When that heavy cleaning was complete, all those Harley Earl-designed panels were assembled into a correct profile that presents largely blemish-free surfaces. After that thorough test fitting, a smooth coat of Matador Red paint was teased to a glossy, show-stopping shine. And today, this Skylark's prestigious appearance is a lust worthy representation of one of America's most glorious eras of motoring. ENGINE Lift the car's 'alligator hood' and you'll find a 322 cubic inch Fireball V8 which wears a correct "V2I0457" assembly stamp and twists a stout 188 horsepower into 300 ft./lb. of low-end torque. There are many fresh pieces like pliable belts, a tagged Delco-Remy generator and proven Hypalon ignition cables. A glossy firewall meets satin fenders to frame those pieces in a construct of distinctly American curves. And overall, the engine seems clean, simple and highly functional. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION Essentially, Buick's original Skylark is a fully optioned and highly customized Roadmaster. And the firm's decision to use its proven C-Body architecture certainly wasn't a bad one as quality and reliability, words rarely uttered in the same sentence as "highly customized", remained solid. The basis for this drop-top's solidity is an industrial strength chassis that rides on a correctly restored suspension. At the center of that suspension, a new-for-1953 Twin Turbine Dynaflow, which wears a correct "J" assembly stamp, twists power to a factory rear end. At the edges of that drivetrain, big drum brakes initiate quick, drama-free stops. Turns come courtesy of factory power steering. A single-pipe exhaust system makes good use of a factory replacement muffler. Everything rolls on familiar Kelsey-Hayes wires, which spin 235/75R15 Dayton whitewalls around "SKYLARK" branded center caps. And, with a fully sorted undercarriage that's ready to hit the road, this big cruiser would be right at home chauffeuring the family to their favorite dinner spot. INTERIOR An excellent mix of new world style and old world luxury, this Skylark's striking interior, restored by Jenkins Restorations of North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, is the perfect place to parade down Main Street. The car's plush benches are stuffed with thick padding, covered in pleated leather and trimmed in era-correct hardware. In front of those seats, a Matador Red dash hangs a correct Selectronic radio, a rebuilt clock and chrome-trimmed gauges behind a textured instrument panel. At the base of that dash, high quality carpet is anchored by slick "Skylark" branded sill plates. At the sides of that carpet, ornate, chrome-trimmed door panels found small power window switches between correct chrome handles. In front of the driver, an intricate, color-keyed steering wheel spins a full horn ring around a customized centerpiece. And behind the passengers, a snug-fitting cowl snaps over a fully restored trunk that centers a fifth wire wheel inside a fifth whitewall tire. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATION AND ACCESSORIESA framed collage of restoration photosMiscellaneous service recordsTwo display boardsA framed poster Combining a thorough restoration with acute detailing, this investment grade Skylark is one of the best classics money can buy! Add in the car's smooth drivetrain and low production numbers, and it's virtually guaranteed to gain value AND exclusivity. We all know it's becoming increasingly tough to find top-notch, correctly restored post-war metal. Don't miss your chance to own one of the coolest Buicks on the planet! Linger on that thought a little longer and the sound of a small block V8 comes to mind coupled with images of an old school dash. We'll let you fill in the details from there but, if you like where we were going, have a look at this incredible Chevy Nova. Backing a 427 cubic inch LS2 with a race-prepped Tremec, track-ready mechanicals and show-stopping aesthetics, this magazine-featured coupe has been drawing stares ever since it rolled in to our showroom. And if you're ready to feel the summer breeze behind the wheel of a storied and unique custom, it's a chance to turn your dreams into reality! BODYWORK/TRIM Right at home cruising the strip, right at home showing beside exotics and right at home schooling Miatas on the autocross course, this Nova is just too much! No, seriously, that's the car's name: "II Much". Built, rebuilt and built again by a dedicated gearhead who wanted a killer pro-tourer, II Much features a detailed, custom appearance that's based in vivid PPG blue, highlighted by Metallic Black war paint and trimmed in custom, anodized accents. Take one look down the sides of the car's slick body and it becomes very obvious that the folks at Canton, Georgia's Road Killer Customs took great care to ensure all gaps are at better-than-factory standards. Step closer to the car's wet looking finish and check out straight and ripple-free panels that aren't plagued by any major imperfections. Grab the car's well-adjusted doors and feel how smoothly they close to provide excellent fit, which is set off by a glossy clearcoat shine. It all adds up to one world-class, mostly garage-built custom that transforms traditional muscle car style into multi-dimensional swagger! The subdued and classy lines of the prototypical Nova are early '60s conservative. And because they're so universal in appeal, they've continued to gain significant popularity. At the front of this hardtop, modern halogen headlamps hang a mesh-trimmed, crossbar grille behind a small bowtie, a mesh-trimmed, fiberglass bumper and a custom spoiler. A fiberglass cowl induction hood leads the eye to smoked glass that's framed by Metallic Black trim, shaved drip rails, and a shaved and filled cowl. At the sides of that glass, a clean, modernist profile centers traditional GM door handles behind color-keyed bowtie mirrors. And an adjustable carbon fiber spoiler reflects vertical tail lamps and a second fiberglass bumper. ENGINE This sweet looking Chevy is powered by a 427 cubic inch LS2 that, thanks to Wegner Automotive Research of Markesan, Wisconsin, creates roughly 620 pavement-scorching horsepower! Built to tear up the track and wow show goers alike, that sleeved and stroked mill combines a Rapid Motorsports block with a proven Wegner valvetrain and custom-wired FAST XFI electronics to transform stout compression into razor-sharp throttle response. Air is supplied by a black-cased reusable filter element, which rides on a proven Holley throttle body. That oxygen makes its way from a single-plane GM Performance Parts intake to CNC-ported and polished LS6 cylinder heads, which are juiced by 42 lb. Holley injectors. Sparks are sequenced through factory-spec ignition and familiar GM Performance Parts plug wires. When fire hits the cylinders, a Lunati Voodoo cam combines with Lunati forged pistons, Lunati Pro Mod rods and a Lunati 4-inch crank to make everything spin. The remnants of that fire swirl through custom-fabricated Stainless Works headers. Cooling comes courtesy of a giant Ron Davis radiator, which is fitted with two equally large puller fans. And, at the front of the technical-looking block, a Vintage Air FrontRunner accessory drive spins standard ancillaries. The custom engine compartment, which includes a relocated firewall and fabricated inner fenders, is every bit as extravagant and detailed as the car's stunning exterior. And niceties such as Earl's hoses, ARP hardware and a custom, reverse-hinge hood add the kind of fully sorted details that push enthusiasts right over the edge! DRIVETRAIN Take a long look under this lightweight X-Body and you'll find a whole roster of small modifications that add up to impressive appearance points and big performance gains. The buff LS2 leads a race-prepped Tremec TKO600 5-speed, which utilizes a tough RPS clutch and Howe throwout bearing to twist a custom Mark Williams driveshaft. On the other side of that shaft, a narrowed and Morrison-housed Moser spins a proven Detroit Locker differential around civil, 3.25 gears and rugged, 35-spline axles. Spent gases are managed by 3-inch, Mandrel-bent pipes, which breath through a MagnaFlow X-pipe, hearty MagnaFlow mufflers and custom, angled tips. And power pounds the pavement through 3-piece Kinesis K18s, which spin 265/35ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas in front of 315/30ZR18 Pirelli P Zero Corsas. CHASSIS/SUSPENSION Holding that stellar drivetrain off the ground is a high quality Art Morrison chassis, which is adhered beneath custom floors, custom wheel tubs and a custom transmission tunnel that were fabricated from various gauges of 1018 cold rolled steel. That chassis glides on a Katz Tsubai-designed suspension that, thanks to a custom short-long arm front-half and custom 3-link back-half, pulls over 1 g on the track. That scratch-built front-half features: C4 hubs, billet Brian Schein spindles, 4130 tubular lower control arms, adjustable QA1 coil-overs, Lensing springs, needle-bearing upper control arms, Howe Racing ball joints, a Stock Car Products modular sway bar, a custom-fabricated crossmember and custom-fabricated aluminum uprights and coil-over mounts. The car's scratch-built back-half features: two more adjustable QA1 coil-overs, two more Lensing springs, adjustable control arms, an adjustable panhard bar and a thick Morrison sway bar. That suspension points through a custom Woodward steering rack, which mixes Lefthander Chassis tie rods and custom-machined 4340 steel steering arms with proven Borgeson joints. Stops come quickly thanks to Wilwood 6 and 4-piston calipers, which use two .75 Wilwood master cylinders to squeeze two 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors up front and two 12-inch drilled and slotted rotors out back. Like any carefully assembled classic, the bottom of this Nova is as well-finished as its top, with painted floors hovering over such niceties as stainless fluid lines, a Corvette oil pan, a 16-gallon, custom-baffled fuel cell and fresh Aeromotive pressure components. INTERIOR Inside this Chevy, classic style is augmented with seamlessly integrated customization. Cloth Sparco Monza seats, which hang snazzy "II Much" brandings over cam-released SCHROTH 4-point belts, are track day comfortable. At the base of those seats, fade-free carpet rides between a custom, Vintage Air-equipped console, custom foot pedals, a billet Tremec shifter and thick Dynamat insulation. A color-keyed dash features an array of Auto Meter Pro Comp Ultra Lite gauges, while custom door skins are designed to flow with the car's 12-point roll cage. Connecting the driver to the road is a Sparco 3-spoke steering wheel spinning around a pull-off hub and tilting Ididit column. At the rear is a simple trunk that hides a centered gel cell battery behind a good amount of cargo space. And an integrated, MP3-compatible sound system keeps the tunes bumping with the help of a large amp, a large subwoofer and five crisp speakers. A year before the fin craze hit critical mass in 1959, Cadillac produced this stunning '58 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. Only 815 of these units were produced during the model year and very few received the high level of attention given to this Alpine White convertible. The car had been cared for by only two dedicated owners before undergoing an extensive frame off restoration in the late '90s. With an original drivetrain, all original sheet metal and extensive documentation this Biarritz is fully functional investment grade Cadillac worthy of any show field. Even sitting still, this convertible makes a big impression. Approximately the same length as a modern Cadillac Escalade EXT, it takes some time to fully consider Harley Earl's design. From the graceful cut of the wheel arches to the dramatic tailfins atop the downswept rear fender line, absolutely every piece of this car was designed to appear in motion at all times. The flowing bodywork is covered in a smooth coat of Alpine White that enhances the cars luxury demeanor. As testament to both its pampered life and expert restoration, there is not a dent or ding to be found on the entire car impressive given how much car there is. The paintwork shows well in even the harshest of lighting and provides a constant reminder of one of the reasons this Caddy has collected so many trophies. Just about everything that left Detroit in the 1950s had a couple hundred pounds of chrome on it but very few automakers applied it with the same charisma Cadillac did. Up front, a full length grille incorporates a grid pattern with semi-rectangular parking lights under the rubber bumper bullets. Above the grille, a golden V sits under a Cadillac emblem centered between four headlights in elegant chrome trim that wraps around the side and extends to the middle of both doors. Behind the doors and above the rocker trim, a series of ten vertical chevron slashes guides the eye towards to extensive brightwork over the rear wheel arches. That trim continues and wraps around to the rear bumper where the vertical strips return to on either side of the license plate frame. Naturally, the taillights sit in chrome bezels and the legendary fins have their own chrome toppers as well. At the top, all glass looks factory fresh and a solid three-piece parade boot covers the convertible top. Under that long hood lives the original 365 cubic inch V8. In its day, this was a top of the line motor utilizing a comfortable 10.25:1 compression ratio to produce an enviable 335hp and 405lb. ft. or torque. The bay has been restored to factory specifications with an eye cast toward contemporary drivability. At the top of the bay, three Rochester two-barrel carburetors bolted to the original intake manifold are hidden by the gold-colored two-snorkel air cleaner cover. The block, cast iron heads and intake wear their correct shade of blue well with the Cadillac name scribed across the valve covers. At the front, A Vintage Air compressor looks at home amidst other accessories including the power steering pump and the Delco-Remy 12-volt generator. Look closely and you can see the convenient front-mount oil filter as well. In front of the radiator, an electric fan has been installed to help keep temperature in check while idling. To the sides, cast iron manifolds channel exhaust gases out through a stainless steel dual exhaust system with angled chrome tips. Behind that V8 is a Hydra-Matic 4-speed automatic transmission well suited to casual cruising. It channels power to the live rear axle which in turn spins those polished Sabre wheels wrapped in white-wall tires. The chassis has been rebuilt to factory specifications with a fully independent suspension up front and a four link with coil springs keeping the back end in place. A primitive air ride suspension was available this year but the system was notoriously quirky. Braking comes courtesy of large drum brakes at all four corners. The undercarriage is detailed but not over-restored to the point it can't be driven. As you would probably expect from a vintage luxury car with a 129.5 inch wheelbase, the ride feels cushioned in a way that even modern air ride setups can't replicate. No matter how rough the roads are, this cruiser simply floats over them. Open the elongated doors and a luxurious interior awaits. With miles of red leather, it makes a strong statement when placed against the Alpine White exterior. A beautifully recovered red bench seat welcomes you into command central of this Cadillac. From left to right, the temperature and fuel gauges sit in chrome bezel above the defroster and heater controls. In the center, the speedometer, odometer and gear indicator all sit behind the red rim blow steering wheel. To the right, the clock measures time from another chrome plated surround that sits directly over the vent controls. Follow the chrome trim further and you'll find the original Wonderbar push button AM radio in its original home. Underneath the dash, vents from the Vintage Air system blend in well with the factory interior, leaving many to wonder if it's a stock system or not. Period correct passenger comforts continue in the backseat with individual cigarette lighters and ashtrays on both sides. From the Cadillac-branded floor mats up, every inch of the interior shows like a new car. Documentation for this car is a treasure trove of Cadillac history. There are typical items such as receipts and an album full of detailed restoration pictures. An original owner's manual and separate booklets detailing how to operate the jack and power top are also included. From there, things go to the next level with two primary shop manuals as well as secondary manuals that cover additional information. A large three ring binder contains an original copy of the Master Parts List that details every square inch of this car in amazing detail. To verify its show history, there are two first place awards from the Ault Park Concours d'Elegance as well. While it's difficult to point to any classic Cadillac as the defining Cadillac of its era, this '58 certainly has all the hallmarks. With miles of sleek lines, clean paint, brilliant brightwork, and an interior fit for royalty, luxury doesn't get much better. This example is an immaculately preserved and beautifully presented piece of Cadillac history worthy of any significant collection. But when it comes down to sinking big money into a reliable purchase, is that really the 'one of one' car you want? Unless you're just as savvy, and know how to fix those one-off pieces if someone miscalculated a bit, probably not. It's not that there's anything wrong with guys building awesome cars themselves. In fact, we'll be the first folks to drool over a really nice custom that shows the creativity of a dedicated enthusiast. But, we also have the ability to offer you professionally built 'one of one' muscle cars that were designed and assembled by some of the biggest names in the hobby. Introduced as Good Guys' 2010 promotional car, this 1970 Mustang, officially named the Boss Snake, was penned by Kaucher Kustoms, fitted with a high dollar Jon Kaase engine and completely assembled by RPM Hot Rods of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. From its Goodguys Yello PPG to its unique Intro wheels, this Ford is the stuff dreams are made of. And if you're looking for the ULTIMATE pro-tourer to spend time riding in, instead of time working on, it's an excellent place to park your money! It seems all re-imagined classics have a story, and the Boss Snake is no exception to that rule. Back in 1969 Ford was doing exceedingly well in NASCAR, but getting absolutely whipped on the Trans Am circuit. As a result, legendary car exec Bunkie Knudson decided to commission a Mustang that utilized Ford's NASCAR technology to enhance its SCCA performance. Unfortunately, Henry Ford II showed Bunkie the door before that model could get built. And Kar Kraft Engineering, manufacturers of the firm's mighty Boss 429, only produced two prototypes of the would-be 1971 Mustang Boss. Those prototypes, officially named the Composite Mustangs and unofficially nicknamed the Quarter Horses, started with Ford's Boss 429 chassis and powertrain, added a '69 fastback body, bolted up a '69 Shelby GT500 nosepiece and threw in a Cougar dash for good measure. Both of Ford's storied Quarter Horses survive today. And 40 years after they originally broke cover, someone at Goodguys came up with the excellent idea of producing a replica for the club's 2010 giveaway. It wasn't long before Kaucher Kustoms was commissioned for a suitable design, a whole roster of corporate sponsors signed on and RPM Hot Rods of Coraopolis, Pennsylvania was contacted about an intense, deadline-driven build. Naturally, the experts at RPM decided a project this cool was worthy of more than just a glorified replica. So they executed a ground up vision that ensured the newly christened Ford would perform every bit as good as it looks. With parts on order and a plan in hand, the work began. When that body was smooth, many labor-intensive modifications, which included a filled and re-imagined hood, filled and relocated side scoops and a custom rear valence, were painstakingly perfected. And when that canvas was solid in all the right places, a pearlescent coat of PPG Goodguys Yello was decked with a satin black racing stripe and subtle red pin stripes. The result is one lust-worthy Mustang that actually delivers on the world-beating promise its ancestors made. And today, the car sits as a fully functional homage to both highly skilled craftsmanship and significant historic purpose. Despite its obvious 21st century appeal, the car you see here is actually very similar to the Quarter Horses that inspired it. At the front of its body, a fiberglass Shelby GT500 nosepiece hangs a tweaked grille between modern halogen headlights, a flush-fit bumper, smoked marker lamps and an aggressive chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a custom-fabricated hood scoop bridges the gap between Ring Brothers hood pins, Detroit Speed wipers and like-new glass that's framed by black stainless trim. At the sides of that hood scoop, a clean profile is only interrupted by body-matched mirrors, Ring Brothers door handles, relocated side scoops and straight "BOSS SNAKE" stripes. And at the back of the car, a black rear valence hangs smoked Shelby tail lights between a third "BOSS SNAKE" decal, a Camaro tag bracket, a second flush-fit bumper and a snazzy roll pan that's formed around custom center-mount exhaust tips. Riddle me this: what does an enterprising hot rod shop do when a Boss 429 or a 428 Super Cobra Jet just won't cut it? They order a professionally built Jon Kaase racing engine that produces a dyno-proven 770 horsepower and 720lb./ft. of pavement melting torque! Pull the pins on this awesome Mustang's hood and you'll find a 520 cubic inch Boss Nine V8 that's been tweaked, bathed in a slick coat of black paint and fully dressed in some of the best aftermarket components on the planet. At the top of that big mill, a custom "BOSS SNAKE" branded air cleaner feeds a coated Quick Fuel carburetor through what appears to be a re-usable filter element. Below that carburetor, a powder coated Jon Kaase intake is bolted between Kaase Boss 9 aluminum heads that are finished with powder coated "BOSS 520" valve covers and polished aluminum breathers. Below those heads, a Comp hydraulic roller cam creates explosive combustion with the help of an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and an MSD 6AL ignition system. At the sides of that cam, custom Stainless Works headers send vaporized dinosaurs into a brutal sounding, true dual exhaust system. And in front of those headers, a Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system spins a chrome alternator, a chrome AC compressor, an aluminum Edelbrock water pump and a Billet Specialties power steering pump behind a full array of polished pulleys. Cooling for the massive powerplant is provided by a Performance Rod & Customs radiator which is complete with molded water tubes, a custom support topper and two giant electric puller fans. Fuel is provided by a high quality braided hose that's threaded into a chrome Holley regulator and a small Earl's pressure gauge. The vicious sounding engine rides in an OEM-quality bay that wears a traditional coat of satin black paint, proudly displays a custom-finished shock towers and shines via Ring Brother hinges and a custom hood prop. And the enlightened Ford enthusiast will immediately spot a recessed firewall that significantly aids the car's tenacious performance. The bottom of this awesome Mustang is just as impressive as its exterior and engine bay. Behind the massaged motor you'll find a fresh Tremec T6 Magnum 6-speed that's bolted to a tough Centerforce clutch. Lift the third pedal and that modern transmission sends power to a Currie nine inch rear end that's equipped with a posi-traction Detroit Locker, stout 3.89 gears and beefy 35 spline axles. Stopping is a cinch thanks to a Baer four wheel power disc brake system that utilizes 6-piston calipers and 14 inch drilled and slotted rotors. Exhaust is handled by custom-fabricated, 2.5 inch true dual pipes that terminate with great sounding Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and great looking center-mounted tips. At the front of the car, tubular control arms combine with a thick anti-sway bar, Ride Tech ShockWaves, Total Control Products spindles and Total Control Products power rack and pinion steering to provide razor-sharp handling. At the back of the car, a modified Ride Tech 4-bar suspension utilizes custom tubs and a second set of Ride Tech ShockWaves to provide excellent grip. In the middle of the car, sturdy Total Control Products subframe connectors perfectly complement a heavily modified floorpan that's been sealed in a thick coat of Herculiner. At the back of the car, a custom fuel tank pushes dino juice through black braided fuel lines via a high performance Holley fuel pump. At the corners of the car, power flows to the ground through custom Intro wheels which spin 245/40ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear BF Goodrich G-Force T/As around slightly stretched wheel openings. And every detail under this slick Mustang, from its Tuff Stuff starter to its deep Moroso oil pan, has been carefully planned and professionally executed. Open this pony's solid-fitting doors and you'll find a tasteful custom interior that was likely the most labor-intensive part of the car's entire build. The firm bucket seats, factory units that were cut down to achieve a lower seating position, are covered in Finish Line leather, stitched with bright yellow thread and fitted with Ride Tech harnesses. At the sides of those seats, traditional door panels, which feature polished stainless inserts, are shaved of everything except familiar sculpted armrests. In front of those panels, the car's completely custom dash, which is detailed with a subtle red pin stripe, hangs "GOODGUYS BOSS SNAKE" branded gauges between small tweeter speakers, controls for Vintage Air conditioning and a custom-framed Clarion navigation system. Beneath that dash, a leather-covered and yellow-stitched console props an MP3 jack and controls for the car's Ride Tech suspension system behind a short Hurst shifter and simple power window switches. Beneath that console, like-new carpet bridges the gap between custom-machined foot pedals, RPM sill plates and a custom Ride Tech Tiger Cage roll bar. Behind that carpet, a custom-fabricated and leather-trimmed cargo area, which conceals the massive amount of hardware needed for the car's ShockWave suspension, anchors two Kicker subwoofers between two Kicker QS quarter speakers and three Kicker IX amplifiers that produce a combined 1,500 watts. In front of the driver, a polished Delta D steering wheel spins around a Flaming River tilt steering column. And behind the passengers, a custom-upholstered trunk conceals an air compressor, two Optima batteries, and a high quality Painless Wiring harness behind two more Kicker QS speakers, more leather surfacing and more yellow stitching. The sale of this bright yellow Ford includes a giant stack of build manuals, a copy of the car's cover feature in the July, 2010 edition of Goodguys Goodtimes Gazette and a copy of the car's cover feature in the October, 2010 edition of Popular Hot Rodding. Absolutely no expense was spared on this killer 1970 Mustang. It combines professional grade performance hardware with what is arguably some of the coolest customization in the hobby to create a take-no-prisoners muscle car.
