The Mark V is a totally original car, including original paint, leather interior, engine, transmission, roof, carpets, all original factory stampings, inspection marks and just 89,000 miles from new, etc. It was bought from the original owner’s family in Monmouth, Oregon. It was a very rare find in this excellent, original condition. The previous owner is a large commercial farmer. I purchased it directly from his son and grandson. The owner was placed in an assisted living home. It had always been meticulously maintained, however the car hadn’t been driven for the last four years prior to me purchasing it. It was a rare, special order Mark V in Black with the White Carriage roof option (opera window delete) with full black leather interior. To my knowledge there was only one other 1979 Mark V ordered in this configuration, however, it was ordered with the less desirable velour interior. The Carriage roof was standard on the Bill Blass Designer Series. This car was a very lucky find. It is the last of the great American full sized luxury coupes. The design and proportions of the car were in my opinion, a work of art in a more modern era luxury car. It was the total refinement of the Mark III and Mark IV Continentals. There is now one in the Nethercutt Museum. I was getting very disappointed in my search. I was getting very discouraged and about to give up when I found this one under the radar. My stepson lives in Portland, so I asked him to go down to Monmouth to check it out for me. He was astonished when he saw it and persuaded me to come up immediately and buy it before someone else found out about it. He was right.The owner’s son was very nice. He let me take the car Les Schwab’s in Salem to get it checked out up on the rack. Coincidently, they had installed the existing Michelin tires on the car in 1992. When I got it home, I took it to a local carburation specialist to pull the tank and also to make sure that everything was proper in order to California smog, as it’s a 50-state car. My goal was to bring everything up to new reliability standards, as my wife would be driving the car at times. I have done all of the following documented mechanical repairs/service, and more:Full tune up, plugs, cap, rotor, timingFull C-6 trans service.3 oil & filter changes to purge out old oilComplete new brake system, including calipers, rotors, flex lines and pads. The Mark V is a totally original car, including original paint, leather interior, engine, transmission, roof, carpets, all original factory stampings, inspection marks and just 89,000 miles from new, etc. It was bought from the original owner’s family in Monmouth, Oregon. It was a very rare find in this excellent, original condition. The previous owner is a large commercial farmer. I purchased it directly from his son and grandson. The owner was placed in an assisted living home. It had always been meticulously maintained, however the car hadn’t been driven for the last four years prior to me purchasing it. It was a rare, special order Mark V in Black with the White Carriage roof option (opera window delete) with full black leather interior. To my knowledge there was only one other 1979 Mark V ordered in this configuration, however, it was ordered with the less desirable velour interior. The Carriage roof was standard on the Bill Blass Designer Series. This car was a very lucky find. It is the last of the great American full sized luxury coupes. The design and proportions of the car were in my opinion, a work of art in a more modern era luxury car. It was the total refinement of the Mark III and Mark IV Continentals. There is now one in the Nethercutt Museum. I was getting very disappointed in my search. I was getting very discouraged and about to give up when I found this one under the radar. My stepson lives in Portland, so I asked him to go down to Monmouth to check it out for me. He was astonished when he saw it and persuaded me to come up immediately and buy it before someone else found out about it. He was right.The owner’s son was very nice. He let me take the car Les Schwab’s in Salem to get it checked out up on the rack. Coincidently, they had installed the existing Michelin tires on the car in 1992. When I got it home, I took it to a local carburation specialist to pull the tank and also to make sure that everything was proper in order to California smog, as it’s a 50-state car. My goal was to bring everything up to new reliability standards, as my wife would be driving the car at times. This could be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of American car history! Pre-WWII cars are often very difficult to find, but this one is especially so. The 1942 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan was part of a very limited production right before the United States entered World War II, causing all domestic car production to halt in support of the war effort. As such, this model year is nearly impossible to find. This car has been in our family since 1975 when it was purchased from an estate sale in Northern California. Unfortunately, after the passing of both of my grandparents, it is time for us to sell it. It was featured in the Complete Ford Book, 4th Edition (1976) - pages 104 - 106, and has also been in other magazines including "Old Cars Illustrated" 1979 (page 19) and "Motor Klassik" ( a German car magazine) in 1999. It regularly won trophies at car shows and appeared in regional car club publications for quite some time. It is mostly original parts, though the interior was refinished in 1985, and as you can see in the photos, in very good condition. With a trivial amount of cleaning and polishing it could be winning awards in car shows again! The odometer says 68,809, but it is unknown if it ever rolled over 100k.

The body is prime for a good quality paint job as it is hard to even find a door ding (there are a couple tiny ones), car has had no body work done. The interior is what really sold me, I have had 6 Mark's and this is by far the nicest interior, I drive a 98 but always felt the Gen 1 cars had the better interior, and this one is near Perfect and Gorgeous Black with Burl Wood Grain Trim, even the usual driver side entry slide area leather looks perfect (better than the pictures, no wear only natural leather grain). TRANSMISSION Lowest mileage car I own at 105,000. I put the 9 miles on the trip meter since purchased and the car has been sitting under cover in my covered driveway ever since as I wanted to keep the mileage low until after the paint job. I took the car cover off today to take pictures and start her up, had to charge the battery but started right up and runs great, however and I realize this is from letting it sit too long there is now an intermittent to none on the 2nd to 3rd gear shift, transmission is tight and quiet and this is a new issue since sitting and can only be a few things, unfortunately I do not have the time to play with it right now, I did find time to install a new throttle position sensor as this can be a very similar issue and have rule that out which means it is a fluid problem. The underside of the rockers, quarters, fenders, and floor boards are solid as a rock, and the wheel wells look so clean, just the way a California car should. All correct trim and emblems are present and in great shape. The chrome does show some pitting from its just under 68k miles of use. The vinyl top is in nice shape with no apparent rips or tears. I like the look and think it gives the car a clean, classy look. All of the glass is original and the windshield is crack-free. The car rides on four new 15" Hankook whitewall tires and still retains its correct hubcaps which gives the car a very nice look. The interior is all original and in very good condition. The original leather seats are extremely soft and supple and look like new. Door panels Dash, and carpet are all original and in perfect condition. The odometer currently shows only 67700mi, which is stated to be Actual miles by the Arizona title. The wood inlayed steering wheel is in excellent condition and is usually a good indicator of use and miles driven. The seats are in excellent condition with almost no ware- only some slight creasing on the driver's bolster. Under the hood is spotless and the proper decals look like new. Power windows, locks, seat, antenna, wipers, and defog work correctly. The climate control is working correctly and the A/C blows ICE COLD.
