The aptly named Collector’s Series commemorated this automotive milestone with a “unique limited edition Mark V [that] embodies exterior design features and interior sumptuousness surpassed by no other Continental Mark, past or present.” The Collector’s Series included virtually every option as standard equipment and sold for an $8,000 premium over a typical Mark V, raising its price to a whopping $21,000. It also combined unique exterior and interior styling and comfort features that were not available on any other Mark V, such as a gold grille, hood ornament and pinstripes, Valino half vinyl roof with coach lamps, color-keyed cast aluminum turbine wheels, chrome-edged vents, sumptuous Kasman II luxury cloth interior trim, and a genuine leather dashboard with glistening ebony woodtone appliqué and brushed chrome finish. Also included as standard equipment, and unavailable on any other 1979 Mark V, were a leather-bound toolkit and owner’s manual. It truly was the end of an era. In addition to low mileage, there are several other features that make this Collector’s Series unique among all others. One such item is its leather interior. Whereas most Collector’s Series Mark Vs featured a full Kasman II cloth interior, this one features a full leather interior, and was one of only 862 out of 6,262 Collectors Series produced with these paint and trim codes, according to the MartiAutoWorks Deluxe Report, which will be included with sale. In addition, this car is equipped with an optional CB radio—a $321 option—one of very few options not included as standard equipment. I have a replacement windshield available and will include upon request. minor door panel separation near speaker on drivers side, can be re-glued window motor gear failures - I did the "3 ball bearing repair" (google it) the day I brought it home on the passenger side and works beautifully, will include ball bearings and instructions for driver side driver outside door handle sticking a little, not sure why, was planning on doing door panel repair, window regulator and handle at same time, will include any parts necessary upon request or shipped later - just pay shipping I am a longtime MARK VIII Enthusiast and purchased this one in may 2014 with plans to give a high dollar paint job as the clear coat has completely failed from head to toe which is common on all Mark VIII's eventually and to be expected on black in the California sun. The body is prime for a good quality paint job as it is hard to even find a door ding (there are a couple tiny ones), car has had no body work done. The interior is what really sold me, I have had 6 Mark's and this is by far the nicest interior, I drive a 98 but always felt the Gen 1 cars had the better interior, and this one is near Perfect and Gorgeous Black with Burl Wood Grain Trim, even the usual driver side entry slide area leather looks perfect (better than the pictures, no wear only natural leather grain). TRANSMISSION Lowest mileage car I own at 105,000. I put the 9 miles on the trip meter since purchased and the car has been sitting under cover in my covered driveway ever since as I wanted to keep the mileage low until after the paint job. I took the car cover off today to take pictures and start her up, had to charge the battery but started right up and runs great, however and I realize this is from letting it sit too long there is now an intermittent to none on the 2nd to 3rd gear shift, transmission is tight and quiet and this is a new issue since sitting and can only be a few things, unfortunately I do not have the time to play with it right now, I did find time to install a new throttle position sensor as this can be a very similar issue and have rule that out which means it is a fluid problem. CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS PLEASE NOTE: Title and Previous Bill of Sale in hand, car has not been registered in California since 2013, $163 fees were paid 3/2014 but it appears the car changed hands minus a smog certificate and without title transfer and license plates are not included. The paint shines all around, and there are no notable dents or dings. The carriage roof is also in excellent shape. This is really a great looking car....This Mark VII has the dealer-installed Presidential Appearance Package. It includes a cloth carriage roof and the wheel wells have chrome moldings. Every diamond has a flaw: there are some blemishes in the chrome on the grill. The HID headlamps and Neon 3rd brake light are intact and working. (expensive items, the headlights are sometime replaced with standard bulbs and inoperable brake lights are often left that way if they go bad) The interior is clean, and also in outstanding condition. The leather seats have no holes or tears, and there is no smoke odor. Both front seats have power controls and lumbar. The driver's seat has 2 memory settings. The rear seat is clean and comfortable. This Mark VIII has some nice luxury and convenience features: Power windows, locks, and mirrors; Remote entry; Power tilt & telescopic wheel; Cruise control; climate control air conditioning; JBL AM/FM/Cassette stereo, Rear defrost, auto headlmaps, HomeLink, and much, much more. Safety features include a dual air bags, anti-lock brakes and traction and control. The driver information center displays a calander, compass, fuel info, and vehicle settings. The owner's manual is with the car. So are three keys and two remote entry key fobs. The trunk is clean and has lots of storage space. The 4.6 liter V8 runs strong and very smooth rated at at 280 hp and 285 lb-ft of torque. We don't have maintenance records, but its obvious that this Mark was very well cared for. The underside of the car is clean - no leaks, no rust. The wheels are also in great shape, and the tires have very good tread remaning. Current mileage is 77,220. This car was bought new on October 23rd 1968 at Paul A Ziegler Lincoln Mercury in Bishop, CA by its first owner Mr. Ben Elliott, who sold it to its only other owner in the early '80s. The paint on the car is finished in gorgeous original color of Huron Blue. After looking the car over we believe this is an original paint car. It was just carefully cut and buffed to a nice shine and shows very well! There are assorted chips on the front of the car from its road-tripping uses. The front and rear cowls show fading from the sun but have not been repainted. These cars are becoming harder and harder to find in their untouched form and we thought best to leave this one as so. This car is a totally solid, rust free car, and obviously never saw snow or salt. The underside of the rockers, quarters, fenders, and floor boards are solid as a rock, and the wheel wells look so clean, just the way a California car should. All correct trim and emblems are present and in great shape. The chrome does show some pitting from its just under 68k miles of use. The vinyl top is in nice shape with no apparent rips or tears. I like the look and think it gives the car a clean, classy look. All of the glass is original and the windshield is crack-free. The car rides on four new 15" Hankook whitewall tires and still retains its correct hubcaps which gives the car a very nice look. The interior is all original and in very good condition. The original leather seats are extremely soft and supple and look like new. Door panels Dash, and carpet are all original and in perfect condition. The odometer currently shows only 67700mi, which is stated to be Actual miles by the Arizona title. The wood inlayed steering wheel is in excellent condition and is usually a good indicator of use and miles driven. The seats are in excellent condition with almost no ware- only some slight creasing on the driver's bolster. Under the hood is spotless and the proper decals look like new. Power windows, locks, seat, antenna, wipers, and defog work correctly. The climate control is working correctly and the A/C blows ICE COLD. The trunk interior is like new condition and has all of the original cardboard and original carpeting which looks very nice. The space saver spare is also still aboard as well as the jack and all original tools. Mechanically, this Lincoln runs GREAT! This car features the 460ci V8. This car always starts right up and shifts so smooth it is difficult to feel the transition between gears. Under the hood is very clean and all original.The car tracks straight and rides and drives just like a new Lincoln should! The 1966 single axle camper trailer is very original as well and period correct in fit an finish. The trailer will sleep two adults and up to two children comfortably. Inside has a nice closet, sink, icebox, gas Magic Chef range and stove! All functioning. The trailer also has a fresh water tank for the sink. Includes all camping items. The car includes two sets of original keys, spare tire, jacking equipment, and the original manuals. All in all, this is one of the coolest and most original Lincoln's I have ever owned.
